Monday, Monday, it's that day....

Hubby had a couple hours worth of errands this morning so I had some peace and quiet.  You won't believe this, but Sheeba actually STAYED in the back room and looked out the back door at the people behind us putting up new screens.  Couldn't believe she didn't come back in here and bug me.  She slept, I'm sure, cause I walked back there to check on her a couple times and she hadn't moved.

I chatted with my favorite boss this morning.  Seems she and her hubby had an exchange of words this weekend and she called his bluff.  She was complaining about work (like, who isn't, anymore, with working from home!) and the stress it was putting on her and he told her to quit!  Retire!  and she said she just might do that!   LOL  Of course she won't.  At least not right now.  But it sure started him!  She's only 60.  He, though, has been retired for probably 10 years - just like my hubby.  That's why we get along so well - we compare notes.  Her husband cleans the house and does repairs as needed.  sigh.

I told her that I could definitely understand that emotion that is flying around.  Some days I get so tired of having to sit in front of the computer all day - and trying to find time for specific meetings - and more than anything else, having to take minutes at some meetings.  I don't mind sitting in on the meetings cause I'm nosey.  I like to know what is going on.  But I hate having to pay attention and write down the 'important' stuff cause I have to do minutes.

I also bragged a little that with moving I am in much better position to retire at some point.  At the other house it was not going to be a reality.  There was no way with all the extras hubby put on the house - i.e., landscaper, pool guy, etc. - that I could ever retire.   But living here, my daughter and son-in-law made sure that I would be able to retire - and hopefully within the next year.  Then I begin to weigh my options and retiring and having nothing to do doesn't seem like so much fun.  We still have Sheeba so can't do any long road trips.  Not that we have done that in many years.   I don't mind sitting at home cause I can always read and be happy.  VERY happy, in fact.  I have so many books and I would love to have the peace and quiet and opportunity to read as much as I wanted.

When I was growing up, books were my escape from the reality of life.  Seriously.  I could read an entire book an inch-inch/and a half thick - in one day.  I was exchanging books every day in the library at school.  I could do that too - I worked in the library!

Then there is my knitting and crocheting that I have grown to love.  Sometimes it's hard to decide - crochet or knit - or read!  So I wait until the tv is off before I read and do the other while it's on.  I have baby quilts to make now too for Christmas so that will add to my project list.  I've got my sewing machine packed away still so will continue to do these by hand, more than likely, until I can get some more boxes cleaned out. I sure don't want more stuff in the house cluttering it up.  Since I cut up a lot of my material making masks, I need to get more fabric to make the quilts.  Sounds like a runaway time in the near future.  I want to make four this Christmas so I had best get started!

Upward Foundation is a children's disability foundation that I have donated to in the past - clothes, books, household items, etc.  This morning they called me and I told them that I had moved.  It always starts out with "we will have a truck on your street on …..".  So I told them I was sorry, but we had moved.  "Did we have anything to donate?"  They also come to where we are now.  At first I said no, we didn't have anything, thinking about all the things my son-in-law and grandson have already picked up and taken to Goodwill or Savers and then it was like 'wait, what?'  You come to our new location?  When?  She checked and they will be here on August 7th.  Best part? THEY PICK UP.   We have two boxes setting out in the garage now ready to be picked up.  Calculating ahead, I still have lots of paper boxes to go through, but I'm sure I can get more things and then have more boxes brought from storage..... I might have a nice little stash for them in two weeks.  If not, I still know I will have some.  And it is for a very good cause.  They call me about every six-eight weeks, I think.  I need to move the boxes I have out of the way, I think, but still, they have a home to go to and it isn't something else for my son-in-law and grandson to do.  But they never have complained about doing it either.  In fact, most times they take it and I don't even know it.

I have a massage scheduled tonight at our former Massage Envy.  We really like the people there and the front desk are fun to talk to.  I was looking earlier and we have been members since 2014!  Six years.  And it has been worth it.  Truly it has.  We haven't been going steady the past couple years so both of us have some extras, even though we have also transferred some to other people.  My neck and shoulders started hurting again this morning so I jumped online to see if this guy I used before was available - and he is at 6:45.  I also checked to see who else was available and got hubby to make an appointment for the same time.   We figure we will use up what we have (while still paying for 1 a month cause if you cancel, you lose all those you have already paid for) and then cancel.  But, we really do like going there so I dunno.  It's a drive now from where we are to where it is, about 30-45 minutes maybe, but hey - it gets us out of the house.  After my experience at the last one near here with the front desk, naw, I'll do the drive.

Ok - I've gotten lengthy with this post, but need to get off.  Break is over. Got much to do before another meeting this afternoon I have to sit in on and take minutes.

Have an awesome day!
