We watched a very good message from Pastor Jentezen Franklin from Free Chapel church yesterday morning. He spoke on I Samuel 30:6. Well, 30:1-6 were all the versus but focus was on verse 6.
6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.
You would need to look it up and read the story (www.Biblegateway.com) in I Samuel 30, but a rough outline of it would be David and his men had been out raiding and when they returned, they saw smoke where their homes were. Their women and children had been taken captive and their homes burnt down. They were all exhausted from their raids and here they come home to nothing. Why they wanted to stone David, I haven't figured out, but isn't that what we do? We blame someone else for our troubles?
But the key part of verse 6 is this: But David found strength in the Lord his God.
I don't want to tell you too much cause I would love for you to listen to it, (you can go to facebook or YouTube and type in Jentezen Franklin or Free Chapel) but during these trying and difficult times, where are you finding your strength?
What is holding it together for you?
I choose to believe that my God is for me and He will see me through any circumstance. I rely on His strength. I like what my father-in-law told me years ago -
"God said it. I believe it. That settles it."
Amen and Amen.
Blessings!

Friday.....finally.....
Fridays are Fridays and once we are through this day it gives us two days of "weekend". But then we blow through those two days and we are back to Monday. I often think of all the things I want to get done on Saturday and Sunday, but as a rule, little of it happens. I've even thought of taking a day off work to get things done - and then I think about how I waste every weekend so why would I take a vacation day to do nothing....
And now, with the house being painted (hopefully they will finish today), the reality of needing to make a firm decision to move or not is quickly approaching. Daughter and son-in-law, who are realtors, say it doesn't matter to them. They will help us fix up the house if we want to stay here - or will help us find another house, help us move, and then will clean this one up, fix it up, and sell it for us.
I think we have finally made the firm decision to move and are in agreement. The house looks nice with what has been painted. And if we redid the flooring in a couple rooms, really cleaned the inside, it would be like being in a new house. But we still have the pool and Sheeba just does not having running room. I've been walking her some, but now that it is getting hot, it will be more difficult. I started out for a walk with her at 6:30PM yesterday and got about a block before it dawned on me that perhaps the sidewalk was too hot for her paws. She didn't act like it, but I didn't want to take a chance on hurting her, so we turned around and came back. I would love to take her out now for it is cool out, but I started work about an hour and a half ago. I don't go too far from the computer during the day - even eating lunch in front of it most of the time - in case my boss sends me a message. Ever so often I will go back and jump on the treadmill for about 10 minutes just so I can get movement back in my legs.
But I'm afraid I'm s-p-r-e-a-d-i-n-g out much farther than I should be. Sitting way too much. But, once I start my new exercise program I hope to curb that some. Change up my diet too - more veggies, less carbs. Sad part is, I LOVE carbs. and they love me. :-)
I have so much work to do today.... and I have my mind flying every which direction on other things I'd rather do.
Knowing God makes all things new. A new heart, a new life, a new thought process. Sometimes we try to do things on our own, but when we give it all to God, He takes it over and helps us with all things. I'm trusting Him to keep me focused today. Hope you are too.
Blessings!

How do you control your temper when .....
UGH. I actually got MAD a couple weeks ago and it was riled again today. We had taken Sheeba into a PetSmart nearby to get a bath. Well, the small girl (think around 20's, seemed to be of Asian descent - just saying so you know her size) could not control Sheeba. Sheeba is probably close to 100 pounds now, and although we are working on training her, she still gets real excited when around other dogs and people.
Which is what happened. This young girl could NOT control Sheeba and let herself be pulled every which way but loose. I did see the interaction between Sheeba and this person when we went to pick her up. Sheeba was excited (not an excuse for her behavior, but she is a dog) and was jumping on all the "spa stations" once she got out of the door. Once I got her, she was once again under control. This person put in her file that Sheeba could NOT be seen at a PetSmart Spa anymore because she was very aggressive toward other dogs and nearly bit her. I doubt that part. She put her in the crate and kept her hand inside - Sheeba probably tried to lick it - which is what she usually does.
Anyway, when I heard THAT - I was very angry. Now mind you, Sheeba's appointment was at 2PM and they close at 5:30PM. We were there at 5:15 and when Sheeba was brought out, we were told she was so aggressive they did not do her nails. Excuse me?
This is the second time we have taken her to this specific PetSmart and were not told there were any issues the first time - although the same person had tended to her needs 4 months ago when she was there. I guess it was then she put it in the files. We were not aware of any of it.
We usually take Sheeba to the PetSmart up by Arrowhead. The people there are much nicer and when we have put her in the pet hotel and get a bath we have always gotten glowing report cards on how sweet and loving she is and they can't wait to see her again. We have taken her there several times for her baths and nails. NEVER have we received a bad report.
Today hubby called the Arrowhead PetSmart so that we could get Sheeba in to get another bath and her nails trimmed because the other one didn't do it. They told us in her file there was a note that Sheeba could NOT be seen at ANY PetSmart because she was so aggressive. I heard that much of the conversation and walked away.
Hubby just left to drive over to the Metro PetSmart and talk with the manager to get this taken off her report. I told him I wasn't going because I'm afraid I would get really angry. Sheeba is not aggressive with other dogs or with people. She is a very large dog who gets excited when she is around others and we are working on that to keep her from jumping up on them. Bite someone? I don't believe that she would do that. She would put her teeth around their hand, but not bite - it is usually because she wants petted. She does it to us all the time.
Not that it really matters at this point. We have been told of a family place that could give her the baths - and we would need to take her to them and see how she reacts around them. The trainer we are using mentioned last week that he also does dog boarding. Interestingly he mentioned that the "doggy days" that are at PetSmart and we usually get for Sheeba to allow her to interact with other dogs (and does just fine) is not a good thing. Reason? Because she learns their bad habits, even in that short time. Hmmm
Anyway.... that is the current dilemma.... how do I turn this into a positive? I guess it is like us when we want something and get it, we get so excited about it that we may over-react over the item. Wouldn't it be cool if we 'over-reacted' about God? Interesting thought.
Blessings!

It's "My" Day!
Today is Administrative Professionals Day. I had actually forgotten it was until one of my bosses sent me a text this morning, telling me when we are back in the office she will take me to lunch.
Back in the office. If I was in the office today, being Administrative Professional's Day, I would be receiving presents and gift cards and flowers and taken out to lunch. Working from home, it is emails and phone texts. LOL And that's ok.
I sent a big emoji out with a note to all the administrative professionals that report up through our division first thing this morning. Now that they are all 'coming to work' at 8AM, they are getting it and are sending back. LOL We have to be our own cheering section some times. Just kidding! I am treated very well, in spite of how busy I am during the day. I am very fortunate I support - well, five people now, some pretty special people. And each one is different.
The "top" is a person who is so busy that she doesn't always remember until later in the day - but she is sincere when she does. My next "top" person is one who is one of my best friends - we have worked together for over 25 years. I admire and adore her. She was the first person who text me this morning. Always thoughtful, considerate, and loving. The next "top" (as they are all upper level management) is mine because her A.P. took a leave of absence - and has not returned in the past 5 months. We don't think she is coming back. I admire this person as she so on top of things. She's beautiful and always seems to have it together. Next would be a man... I only support him in a few things and he is so smart that he probably won't even remember what today is unless his wife reminds him. LOL Seriously, I think he used to be a professor at a college. He is way up there in smarts. But he is kind and friendly to me and I like working with him. He thinks I'm awesome. :-) This last one is a new hire and I'm not sure yet about him. He isn't as high up on the ladder as the other 4, but the one time I met him, he seems nice and kind. He's still getting his feet wet as being on the job for only this week. I don't know if he would remember or not.
Some days I wonder how I ended up in this position. Well, yes I guess I do remember. The second person I mentioned above, my best friend, she had gotten a promotion at two companies ago where we worked together. I was no way an "administrative professional" at that company. But she got a promotion, and she wanted me to become her administrative assistant. I knew nothing about Word or any other program. She said she would teach me. And she did. After she left there, I was promoted to an executive assistant for two years - then I left. When I was ready to find another job, she had one for me. I worked there about a year and the administrative position came up for her again - and she asked me to take it. Of course I did. I did that for 5 years, and she got me promoted to executive assistant. She left that company due to circumstances beyond her control (we lost a contract) and went to another company. A few months later, she had an executive admin assistant position open and I applied - and got it. That is how I have ended up where I am, doing what I do. I still don't know as much as I think I should, but I've determined that I will be the best I can be.
Today is a "recognition" of administrative professionals everywhere. Doesn't matter what level you are - each one is valued. And that is what makes us all special.
Just like with God. We may not have a title with Him, but He loves us just the way we are. The gifts He gives us are more than we could ever wish for, hope for, dream for. He gives us life, hope, and grandchildren (and great-grandchildren)... oh, and children.... and lots of special friends. Thank you, Lord!
Blessings!

Who ever heard about Housewashing?!
We are getting our house painted. We're going from a powdered pink with pink raspberry trim to.... are you ready for this.... beige/white and maybe some black. I don't know. And, at this point, I'm not sure I even care. My son-in-law came over this morning and painted some colors on the house and asked my opinion. I finally told him "I don't care, I'm not going to be living here anyway.". The reality of that hits too.
We have a pool that hasn't been used but maybe twice in the past 2-3 years - and we pay someone to come in each week to do maintenance on it. It would cost about $4000 to fill the pool in.
We have a big dog who would love to have a big yard to run in. Currently running around the pool, she truly doesn't get real exercise - even when I take her for a walk. I need to learn how to run - now that would give her some exercise! But since I don't know how to run, walking is it. She's a big dog, and needs more.
Anyway, back to my title of this post - the men are here washing the house with a powerhose. That thing hits hard and I am going to assume cleans all the dirt off the house! In fact, it was so strong, when the powerwashed the back door, water came in through the sides of the door and left water. Of course that could also be because the door doesn't fit tight against the door posts.
I hadn't really heard about housewashing. That even sounds funny.
I pulled my car out cause I thought they might paint today- and saw how dirty it was from sitting in the driveway for the past month. Yeah, I think I will take it for a good carwash this afternoon. I don't want to put it back in the driveway as dirty as it is. Maybe it's time for a break and grab lunch while we're out. I still won't let hubby drive my car or he would drive it to get it done.
Housewashing. It's kind of like when we accept Jesus as Lord and the Holy Spirit washes over us, don't you think? When we ask for forgiveness, He washes over us and makes us clean again.
It's worth it.
Blessings!

What is it you need today.....
I found this on another post this morning.....
WE REALLY WERE MADE FOR MORE
As I was cleaning up after a workout today, I listening in to a conversation between two men. They were talking about their weekend plans. One commented he wouldn't be doing much because this was a low money week. The other commented about going to Red Lobster for dinner. It would be the highlight of his weekend. To which the other responded that eating at Buffalo Wild Wings had been fantastic the other night.
It became obvious that a major highlight of these guys lives was where they would eat out. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy food and eating out as much as anyone, but it isn't a highlight. Their conversation really caught me off guard. Am I really hearing what I think I'm hearing? I'm convinced I was. I was saddened for these two men. Everything in me wanted to grab them by the shoulders, look them in the eye, and say "You were made for so much more! The life God has for you is so much bigger - so much richer - so much grander than a weekend meal at a nice restaurant." But . . . Strangers that grab other guys by the shoulder in a locker room are considered bizarre and a lot of other things so I held off.
But I did pray for these two men. I asked God to open their eyes to the more they were made for. I asked for a divine opportunity with them in the future. And I thanked God that He had graciously led me to the more found in life with Jesus. I thanked Him for allowing me to be a part of His mission to help others discover the more they were made for! May He use me to point people to life with Jesus! And may He do the same for you!
-----------
I found this post very thought-provoking. Of course we can't go to the gym right now because of COVID-19 and everything is closed, but what about the people you know.
Is eating out really the highlight of a person's life? I think for some people it may be because they don't do anything else.
Something to think about. What is your highlight in times like where we are now?
Blessings!

There is a positive.........I think........
to working from home for awhile. I am finding more time to write in this blog. Although yesterday was a real bear in trying to do much of anything except create meetings. UGH. I don't mind the meetings, it's finding the time in an already full day. And not just on my boss's calendar, but for every executive she wants included!
Today has started off as a pretty good day, I think. I wanted to get more done than I have thus far (it's 3PM), but I have managed to get a little done.
I had made up my mind that with all the hubby distractions during the day that I would move a card table to the back room and work back there. It did sound REALLY good, but I got to thinking that the card table really wouldn't give me much space, really not any more than I have at the end of the dining room table. So I pulled the table out and took the entire table over pretty much. I am sitting now on the side next to the wall with my back to it. My computer on my right and the monitor in front of me.
I had to run to the office the other day so I grabbed my wireless keyboard. It's nice because it is also ergomatic or whatever the word is. Anyway, I now have a better area to work in. It won't stop the interruptions and distractions from hubby, which is a problem, but at least I have some room. Funny thing about those distractions and interruptions, hubby calls it "bugging" and that he doesn't do it very much. Whatever.
At noon we met the trainer for the 3rd lesson with Sheeba. She did, and is doing, really well. The first week we taught her how to "heel" and walk with us. Last week we taught her to sit, "stay" and we would walk in front of her aways, then go back to her and say 'heel' and continue to walk. This week it was more to get her to come to us. Pulling the former two weeks in, we would 'heel' and walk a bit, then stop and say "stay", then walk in front of her while she sat and looked at us. After a minute or so we would say 'heel' again and she would get up, walk to us, and sit at our left side. Then we got to tell her how good she is. We did it several times in that hour and she did very well. We need to work more with her daily, but it is such a relief not to have the hassle we had prior to this - even with the bit of training we already had her in. That one was a joke, for sure.
Today is a beautiful and sunny day. Too bad our summer can't stay like this, and not get any hotter.
I put a roast on in a crock pot a bit ago for dinner. I balanced the Board's checkbook for which I am responsible for and did the profit and loss and the balance sheet. Our meeting is Monday night and I wanted to be prepared. I balanced my checkbook. And here I am. I want to start packing and get a storage unit to start putting things in until we find another place to live.
I like the place we are in, but we need a place without a pool and drop that expense. We never use it anyway. We haven't been in a rush to find anything and have only looked at a few houses a few weeks ago. My SIL is bringing a painter over on Tuesday, I think, and he will forever change the color of our current home. I feel almost sad. We came to look at this 'pink house' some 25+ years ago. Who would have ever thought we would be here that long. But, come next week the colors will be beige and brown. It will make it easier to sell.
My thinking is that we can get a storage unit and start boxing things up and get out of the house. Also, all the things I want to give to Savers - which is getting a nice pile - can also go to storage until Savers opens up again and I can donate it. I'd love to have a yard sale but may end up doing that in a few months. For now, I need to make decisions. And I'm going to. Oh - that was what I wanted to do today - work in the closet and go through boxes. Hmmm - it's after 3PM... probably won't happen today.
Going to daughter's tomorrow for lunch and take my knitting. There aren't many places that we can go so I am glad we can be with family some. The daughter isn't allowed out much due to her immune system so she is looking forward to company too! Now to figure out what I can take for lunch.
We got our stimulus check the other day - and yes, we split it. I have my own reasons. Paid off our airline tickets that I had to postpone the end of this month, and paid on a couple other bills. Plus I actually splurged and bought some Omaha Steaks to be delivered next weekend. Keeps me from going to the store and trying to find something.
Need to get off and do something.
Blessings!
Freedom Friday!
Where in the world did I come up with that heading?!
Isn't every day a Freedom day? Well, it is, sorta kinda. It depends on where you are, where you live, and what you do, I reckon!
I'm glad it's Friday cause it is the last day of this work week. This morning has been super busy and super chaotic with emails and meetings, but it's half over anyway.
Had to take a quick run down to Tempe to pick up my vegetables for this week. I joined a CSA co-op for a short time and today was the last order. I have gotten lots of vegetables from farmers in the area, but the problem is that even though we eat vegetables, we don't eat THAT many vegetables and we ended up throwing some of them away.
But the exciting part is that last week I got 3 large beets. I had never made Harvard Beets from scratch before - so I checked a Betty Crocker cookbook, figured it out - and they were really good! But like today - got two different kinds of lettuce that we probably won't eat (why do people even create these - they look weird), purple potatoes (I have never cooked purple potatoes - that will be a new taste, I'm sure!) and I think one of those is a turnip. Those I like, but this one is total white... it was a way to try new things. I didn't resign up for the co-op this time. I just wanted to help the farmers out in our area, and I did. But now, if I throw away half of what I receive, I shouldn't waste the money.
Been busy making masks for various people. Doing them all by hand. Did 3 for my daughter-in-love but I realize now that I probably made them wrong. I followed the instructions I found, but since then, our hospital has given our specific instructions and I realized I didn't do those tight enough. It was the thought, right? I've made 6 masks for the youngest son and his family, 2 for a co-worker and her spousal equivalent (who sent me a photo they liked them so much) and 1 for a granddaughter's boyfriend. Now hubby has told me he wants one too so I may make a couple more. I'm getting better at it so it doesn't take quite as long to do.
Our chief medical officer at work sent out a notice that whenever we go to a facility or even to a store, we need to wear a facemask. You don't know who doesn't have one and is sick - and you touch it after them. Even pumping gas one needs to wear gloves because you don't know whose hand touched the handle.
I think of Romans 8:28 through all this chaos that we are going through - 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.
I often wonder what GOOD God could possibly bring from all this, and I'm sure you are too. But I believe He can still bring good. Even when I can't see it, I know that He is working. Even when I can't feel it, I know that He is working. He is the Way Maker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, Light in the Darkness.
He is all we need - especially in times like these.
Blessings!

A Beautiful Thursday.....
I'm starting today off positive. I slept well last night - in bed around 8:30PM and slept until about 2:30AM (which is about 6 hours, about right), then dozed until about 4AM when the alarm went off. I got up and went in to my room and shut the door to spend some time with God. Sheeba barked about 4:15AM which meant she needed to go out, so I stopped to take her - and did she ever need to go! But, back into the crate she went so that I could finish without interruptions.
Sorta. About 5:30AM she started again so I got up to take her out - she did her business and then she wanted petted and played with. So I quit and started up the computer and am ready to tackle the day. Sorta.
A grandson has surgery today on his broken wrist/arm. Lord, please guide the surgeon and help them to set the bone properly and that it will heal quickly; let the pain be minimal and I pray that the break will heal completely. Surround this child, Lord, and let him feel Your presence, and Your peace.
I drove to the office yesterday to meet with a new employee and hand off a laptop I had stored in my locked cabinet. It was a nice drive there, but I was surprised at the traffic going - and coming back the traffic was even worse! Totally surprised me for I thought it wouldn't be that bad - but it was about 10AM and people were out and about. Only 5 people were on my side of the floor. When we talked, we both wore facemasks. I met with the new employee (who, ironically, is monitoring a major facemask production on the 7th floor and was not wearing a mask) and gave him the laptop, showed where supplies were kept, showed him where his new office will be - if we ever get to go back to the office.
Then I packed up a lot of my personal items (and grabbed a few snacks while I was at it) to bring home. With not knowing WHEN or even IF we will ever go back to the office to work, figured I may as well bring stuff home. Took the cart loaded down out to my vehicle and then took the cart back up and headed home.
I got home with about 4 minutes to spare to get online for a meeting for which I was to take minutes. I forgot to sign in on VPN, but was able to still listen in on the call and take minutes. I didn't realize I hadn't signed in until I tried to save the recording and it wouldn't save. I sure hope I was able to get it saved after I signed in. All part of work.
Today is a beautiful day outside and I wish we had a covered patio so that I could even sit outside some with just the laptop and work. It's cool in the mornings, enough for a sweater, and has a soft breeze. Even Sheeba likes being outside for awhile in the early morning. As I do get the opportunity to sit outside once in awhile, it is good to take a breath and just thank God for the beauty of the day. I haven't been able to do that for a few days - way too busy - but when I can, I love just sitting back, closing my eyes, and letting the sun rest on me. I like to think it is God's Presence just covering me with His love.
And there are many days that I just need a hug from Him. Yesterday was one of them.
Have a beautiful Thursday!
Blessings!

Thankful for my job....
I do not like working from home. I mean, yes, it is nice when I need to work from home, or that I want to work from home. BUT, when it is working from home with many, many interruptions, it is not likeable. Oh I still get things done, but the distractions cause me to not get as much done as I would like.
But I am grateful that I have a job that I can work from home. With this pandemic, there are many people who are without jobs and have to wait on an unemployment check. I'm grateful that I do not have to. I never thought that I could work full-time at home - and here I am. But I think the difference is that all of the people that I support are also forced to work from home full time. If they were in the office, I would feel I need to be there.
One of my bosses told me recently that it looks like we may be permanently at home. The 'higher-ups' were looking for a new location for all of us prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. That has been put on permanent hold for now. They are instead looking at production - and for many people the production has gone up. Imagine that. If that is going to be the case, I am going to need to re-look at my work area here at home.
Because of the "wonderful" internet service we are receiving from Cox, even with an wifi extender, I must sit at the kitchen table to work. I like being there because I have a lot of light from the bay windows and the light above the table. However, it just isn't working.
Ok - this is about 8 hours later than when I first started this. Had to do a run to the office to pull a computer for a new employee. Decided to load up on some of my personal things for the reason above.
I don't want to work from home anymore! I asked one boss and she said I could probably go back to the office for the time being, but the BIG boss, when I asked her if I could go back to the office .... her comment was "HAH"! I told her I was serious.
I am going to have to find another location to work. Trying to take minutes in a 2 hour meeting with the hubby fussing with the dog just doesn't help with hearing. He stands staring at me until I give him my undivided attention to tell me how his day is going. I'm sorry. I'm working. leave me alone.
Ok - my good intentions on this blog aren't happening today. And I need to get off here. It's after 5PM and I get off work at 4PM. It's been that kind of day.
I still am thankful for my job. Very thankful.
Blessings!

and it's still going on....
The covid-19 I mean. We are still in isolation that is sometimes getting unbearable. There is something to be said about isolation though.
It causes you to have to focus on what is in front of you. I'd really like to get on this house (yes, I'm saying it again), which means I need to quit volunteering to do things.
I did get three masks done this weekend, but need to finish up three more. Maybe.
I volunteered to write 20 notes to people in skilled nursing facilities so that they didn't feel so alone. I got hubby to get my stamps the other day, but haven't written any yet. I hope to get at least half of that task done today. I asked my daughter in law if I could send some to her location, but she didn't respond. I guess what I could do is write them, and allow her to hand them out as she pleases. Sometimes just a piece of mail is enough to lighten a person's spirit. Depression is hard to live through.
I stopped a little bit ago and took Sheeba out for a walk. She is doing really well now with 'heel' and 'stay' so that she isn't dragging me down the street and hurting my arms and shoulders as she has in the past. I used to get so frustrated with her. It took about 1/2 mile before she would allow me to 'lead'. Now she pays attention - and I contributed that all to the training we are taking her through.
It's kind of like life, you know. We want to do things our way. We don't want anyone to tell us what to do. We don't want anyone to make us feel guilty. We don't want anyone to.... you can fill in that blank.
And that is why God gives us free rein over our lives. He allows us to make our own choices. We can do our 'own thing', whatever that might be. He allows us to do and say whatever we want.
Because following Him is a choice. Being obedient to the 10 commandments is a choice. Yes, they are His commandments for us - but it is to help us, not to hinder us.
1) You shall have no other gods before me.
You may think that you don't have any other 'gods' before God, but we do. We put our families, our careers, our money, our friends, the things that we enjoy/like - all those things are gods when we put them before worshiping the True God.
2) You shall not make idols.
Again, we think we do not make any idols, but when we worship something other than God, it is an idol. It could be food. It could be the desire to make more money. It could be a specific habit we have that we just can't give up. It could be an attitude that we don't want to let go of.
3) You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
Oh so many people fail on this one! I remember working with a guy who when someone next to him said God .... - he looked at him and said, 'my Father's last name is not ....'. It cracked me up but was a real eye-opener.
4) Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
of course 'back then' they weren't to work at all on the Sabbath. And our Sabbath today is Sunday, not Saturday. It would do us well that after church we did stay at home, perhaps have family time, or read our Bibles, or a good book. Things that would draw us near to God, and not away. Today we go out to eat, which causes other people to work. I remember my in-laws in the early years of my being in that family, would not go out to eat on Sunday. Their reasoning was that we were making other people work and God said not to work on the Sabbath. That changed over the years, but it stuck with me.
5) Honor your father and your mother.
For most of us, that is an easy one, but growing up it is much harder, isn't it! Our argument is that our parents should be kind and good, and that would cause us to respect them. But when they are hateful, mean, and critical, it is much more difficult.
6) You shall not murder.
That could be a much easier one to follow, but how many times do we 'murder' someone with our words? Whether we talk about them behind their backs, or to their face, do our words beat them up and murder them, or do we encourage and lift them up?
7) You shall not commit adultery.
That one also should be easy, but how many times does the lust of the eye, the second glance, cause a thought to happen? Oh it's just admiration, you say, but is it? Trust me, if your spouse sees it, they never forget it. Watch that wandering eye.
8) You shall not steal.
This should be an easy one as well - if it isn't yours, leave it alone. But we steal in different ways. We steal time when we should be doing one thing and do another. We steal life pouring into our children when we find other things to do with our time and not spending it with them. We steal joy, when we put down instead of building up.
9) You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
How many times have we griped about our neighbor, or a co-worker, a boss, a friend, a spouse, a child, a sibling, a parent, - and maybe exaggerated on what our offense was? That's a false witness. We are to speak the truth, and only the truth. We don't need to comment any further. Perhaps they didn't realize they had offended you. It is at that time you need to stop them and tell them you were offended, and resolve the matter then. Don't let it go any further. And don't let time pass by. It makes it harder to reconnect again.
10) You shall not covet.
We shouldn't be jealous of what someone has. It's ok if they have a fancy house, or a fancy car, or a great job, or lots of money. They are responsible for it. You don't know what it took for them to get there. Be happy for them, for those are the choices they made. God will supply all that you need, and want. You don't have to want what others have.
So there you have it. All 10 of them. See, none of them are too hard to follow - and yet, most of us mess up every single day. Yeah, I include myself in that. But I'm trying to be better.
and you should too.
Blessings!

Blessings!

He is Risen.... Indeed
I got up early this morning, though not as early as I do during the week, to spend some time with God before the day started off. It's what I call my 'quiet time'. I don't have much time before Sheeba, our dog, decides to wake up and wants to go out. That's what happens when I stay in bed even that extra hour.
As I sat down in my chair in the quiet of the morning, I pick up my Bible and decided to read about the resurrection instead of where I am currently reading in Job. So I read Mark's version. (BTW there is a really good message on page 1003 in the Legacy Bible) It isn't much different from the other versions from Matthew, Luke and John, I just decided to read that one.
Jumping off my thought for a moment... we finished watching the video Matthew last night. It is the entire book of Matthew, word for word, of the New International Version. I know, I have followed along to check. AND I have read the books of how the movie came about, what the actor who played Jesus went through as he prepared and performed as Jesus. It is a remarkable story. In fact, I may need to dig out the book again and reread it.
But getting back to today. Easter Sunday. It will definitely be an odd one, I mean, not like we have done in the past. Rather, it was going to be that way, in a sense.
Let me go back to yesterday. I had pulled a turkey out of the freezer earlier in the week for no other reason than to bake it and share it. Yesterday was that day. I baked it, made dressing, giblet gravy. I had gotten some beets from a co-op and although I hadn't made them this way before, I looked up the recipe - and made Harvard Beets - and were they ever good! And they weren't hard to make, either! I also made potato salad and ice cream. What a combination!
A grandson stopped by to show us a ring he has picked up for his girlfriend. It is definitely a wow. He created the design, which is exactly what our grandson-in-law did for our first princess who got married. Anyway, he asked what we were going to do today and I laughingly told him we would have baloney sandwiches since grandpa didn't want us to go out. That really upset him - to the point it was funny. I sent some turkey, dressing, etc home with him for their dinner. He told his mom what I had said, and I got a phone call that she was not going to let her mother have baloney sandwiches on Easter, that I needed to come over there! LOL I laughed, but as I told hubby about it, he wanted to go. (Perhaps he is afraid I'd give him a baloney sandwich (like if we had any) for Easter lunch). So our plans were changed and we will go to my daughter's today for lunch. It will be nice to get out of the house.
I called my daughter-in-love and offered her the rest of the turkey as there was still some left, even after I took off some for us. She was happy to come over and get it all. I'm hoping my son was happy with the potato salad. Thought of him and my daughter when I made it. They are the ones who comment on it.
My daughter made the comment that they are having thanksgiving dinner Saturday night, and ham and all the trimmings for Easter.
It has given me pause. How thankful are we that Jesus went to the cross for our sins? Not just one of them, but for ALL of them. Personally, I am very grateful. And I'm even more grateful that every day He continues to be there for me in all my times of need, my times of hopelessness (He is my hope), my times of grieving (there are different types of grieving). And I am very thankful for Jesus being my Lord and Savior. I don't say that lightly.
Without Him, I know what my life would have been like. Just as He used my hubby to cause me to run back to Him in my distress, and trust Him to get me through this life, He uses circumstances in our lives to draw us close.
When the women went to the tomb on that morning, it was empty. The angel told them, He isn't here, He has Risen!
Do you believe that?
He HAS RISEN! He has Risen indeed!
Happy Easter! May Blessings be yours today. Open your eyes to see Him.

What made today Good.....
As I did my quiet time this morning, I reflected on what today is. Or, rather, what we celebrate it as. GOOD Friday. Yes, it is Friday, but what makes it GOOD?
One can actually argue even the reason we call it GOOD. A man, whom we call our Savior, also called Jesus, was brutally beaten, scourged, scorned, whipped, and much, much more..... and crucified upon an old wooden cross. And we CELEBRATE it? Why do we do that?
Because He was OUR sacrifice then. And He is our sacrifice now.
John 3:16 is quoted often - For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son (aka Beloved Son), that whosoever believeth in Him, would have everlasting life.
But how many of us actually believe that? I mean, not that God gave His one and only Son, but that we would have everlasting life? What is everlasting life? Who would want to have everlasting life in the world we now live in?
But everlasting life is so much more than that. Yes, we will die and leave this place we call earth.
But where will we go after that? Soem of us say - it doesn't matter, I'll be dead. I'm going to live now. Others say -I don't believe in heaven or hell. That's just scare tactics. aOhers KNOW there is a heaven and a hell, and yet, they are not afraid.
I have to admit that sometimes I shrug and with what I live with on a daily basis, I have my own doubts if I will make heaven. GASP! did I really say that 'out loud'? Don't I WANT to go to Heaven? Yes. Then why don't I clean up my act and .... because life is hard.
If I quit fighting life, and submit, would it ensure me a route to heaven? Probably. I've had people tell me that with my life .... I should go straight to heaven. I wish it were that easy. But it isn't. Every day is a struggle to do what is good and right. Every day I have to ask for forgiveness and seek strength to get through whatever my trial is.
And it is probably that way for you as well. But you know what - I will keep struggling to do good, to be obedient to the Lord. I will fail time and again, but I will keep going, because I prefer Heaven to Hell.
I've read Revelations. I've read books (check out The Choice - Will's last testament) for a description of Hell. No thank you. Will was a young man who was angry with God, and refused to have anything to do with Him. Yeah, he ended up in Hell. I could hear his screams as I read. No, I wasn't frightened; I was heart-broken. I don't want to be there.
And I'm sure you don't either.
As we get past Good Friday, the day when Jesus was crucified.... Sunday's coming. And on Sunday, what we call Easter, life is made NEW. Jesus rises from the grave, and takes His place at the right hand of God.
Psalm 51 is a good place to begin. Take it slow as you read through it. Pause and think about the words. Let them sink in. Start today.... Easter would be a great beginning.
Blessings!

Another beautiful day.... but where is the joy....
It's another beautiful day. I've stepped outside to look at my roses that are starting to pop up and bloom. I've enjoyed being briefly in the sunshine. Hubby took Sheeba out for a walk this morning and she did well. This training seems to be working well for her walking with us - she isn't pulling us down the road, anyway. The real test is when someone will come over and she will want to jump on them in her excitement. We haven't had anyone in the house lately so will have to work on that at some point.
Have you ever wondered where your excitement at seeing otehrs went? I have found that my excitement over even going places much anymore has waned. Is it because I've gotten older? It surely isn't that I have "matured" beyond that. I still long to visit others, and be with others, but the joy I have felt in the past just isn't there. I mean, the real joy.... you know what I mean, don't you?
The joy of a child seeing a butterfly for the first time. The joy of a parent - or a grandparent - seeing a new baby (or a grandbaby!). Now that does bring me much joy, I must say, but still, not the giddy kind of joy I'm trying to explain.
Giddy kind of joy. Just what is that?
I love hanging with the grandchildren - and great grandchildren. Right now I'm missing them a whole lot. Restrictions. Limitations. I always have been a rule-follower, but sometimes I jsut want to break those rules, don't you? But for now, I cannot.
I can't go see a grandchild to give them a hug. Yes, I can text or write... but I ahven't done that either. What's up with that? Ok - I did just stop and send a text to one grandchild. :-)
Joy - unspeakable joy - what is that to you? I know what it is, but how long has it been since you experienced it?
How long has it been since you had true joy, a true smile on your face?
I Chronicles 16:33 Let the trees of the forest sing, let them sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.
Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Psalm 19:8 The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
Psalm 86:4 Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you.
Think about it. Then ask yourself, what are you going to do about it!
Blessings!

Ready and prepared.... are we?
We are in a crisis here. The coronavirus is at its peak this week adn next - actually, I think they gave the dates 4/11 and 4/18 as the two critical dates to tell whether or not this is going to go 'away'. I am believing - and praying - that God will intervene and halt this virus. That He will heal those who have received it. It has been a brutal and quick-spreading thing. I can't remember who now, but someone told me yesterday that they had a friend who got it, and four days later was dead.
That isn't even enough time to even put your affairs in order. Were they ready? Were they prepared?
As a woman, my thoughts range from: I don't want anyone going through my things! I need to clean out.... I need to wash this.... I need to jsut get rid of.... why am I hanging on to ... my kids won't want this, I should get rid of it now.... all these thoughts go through my mind.
I know I have things no one wants - so why am I hanging on to them? (I did actually go through a clothes closet this month and have a bag of clothes ready to go to Savers) I have so much STUFF. And of course when I got it, I jsut 'had to have it'. I've been trying to get the mindset that if I haven't used it in six months, and do not know when I will ever use it (not that I MAY use it sometime or someone MAY need it), I need to let it go.
I haven't been allowed to have yard sales, but since we are seriously thinking about moving within the next few months, I really need not only to clear out things, but need to let go of what I hang on to.
None of it is really important to anyone but me. And if I am not here, what difference does it make? I have a picture in my mind of my children rolling the goodwill truck up to the door and hauling everything out. That's what we used to tell my mother. I think I inherited my tendency to hang on to things from her.
So with that being said, if you are reading this, and know me, is there anything that I have that you would want?
I still need to go through my dolls, and I will soon, and distribute them among my granddaughters and great granddaughters. Three are already designated, I just haven't passed them off. I need to set them out, take photos, and ask who wants what, perhaps. But if I do that, then what if they all want the same ones? No, I guess I better just contact each one separately. Those are MINE and not OURS, so I can do that. :)
All of this makes me think about if I should contract the coronavirus, am I ready? Am I ready to meet my God? Right at this moment, in spite of all the chaos in my household, I would say yes, I am ready. I have no fear of dying. My life has not been perfect, and I have made a lot of mistakes, and I have done a lot of stupid things, and I have rebelled at a lot of things. But when I go to my Heavenly Father and ask His forgiveness, His Grace covers it all.
I recently read a book called The Choice by Brenda Poulos. Will's last testimony, I think it subtitles. This book was not what I expected at all - right down to the last page. Ironically, it was based here in Arizona. Another book I read recently - totally different - and I could not put it down until I finished it - Vessels of Fire and Glory by Mario Murillo. It was very good. Of course I like Lance Wallnau too, who wrote The Chaos Candidate, talkign about President Trump. And he wrote it before the election! I do have that book if anyone wants to read it.
I know I have rambled this morning, but my thoughts are all over the place. I pulled out material while I was typing this and want to create a mask for my daughter-in-law. If I can make one, then perhaps I can figure out how to make others. I want to help. I just don't know how.
So - through all of this, have you thought about what would happen if you contracted the virus? Have you thought about what effect it would have on your family? Your children? Your spouse? Have you cleaned your personal house so that you know where you would end up? I don't mean your house you live in, but your mind, soul, spirit body.
Are you ready..... to leave everything .... those who love you.... to go to the One who loves you more?
I John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
It doesn't mean you have to be perfect. God knows we will still make mistakes and do the things that we like to do.
But when we come to Him and ask His thinking on it. Seek His will. He will show us. He will put it in our spirit if we are to do - r not do - those things. Some of what we have been told as we were growing up was wrong and was actually 'wrong-thinking'.
It's not about us. It is about HIM.
oThink about it.
Blessings!

thought I had lost it..... and it's Monday.....
Yes, today was to begin a new post. Or rather, new subjects to talk about on this blog. It took me forever to find this blog. Yes, recently I created a new blog so that I could use this one for its original intent. I even had a thought to start it with. But time has now escaped me and annoyance at interruptions has removed the time and the sharing I wanted to do.
But I finally found this blog. I need my son to look at this and see how to break the two apart. This is what happens when you get someone who isn't knowledgeable abotu computers and starts rushing through things trying to figure it out. With constant interruptions from another one of course. UGH.
Monday. Got a ton of work to do today. Made lemon meringue pies yesterday. Kind of planned to make a couple mroe today - but need to see if my oldest son wants any.... if he doesn't, no need to do it as I don't know where we would take them. They are a bit toooo sweet for me.
Hubby had to interrupt this morning to read me the latest from the doctor who is working with our VP on the COVID 19 stuff. She says for two weeks do not go to the grocery store. Do not go to the drug store. Do not go anywhere. We have got to get a stop on this virus. I haven't been allowed out of the house too much - and only once by myself and that was two weeks ago to donate blood.
The daughter has stopped by a couple times - brought me TP - for which I am grateful as we are down to about 6 rolls and I always like to have an extra pack to fall back on. I did online for Frys last week - and it was pretty cool. I ordered, then emailed me back with what they were out of and what they could substitute it with. No, they had no TP they said. I made the selections, they took it out of my bank account, I found a time they had available (had to wait two days) but I was able to go there, they came out to my car, loaded it in the trunk, and off I went. NICE. Plus I saved money for I would have bought a lot more had I been able to stroll through the store. Just go online and select what you want. May have to wait a few days (depending on which store - I changed stores as the usual one was a week out - what I changed to (and closer to me) was within two days).
Need to get busy - maybe tomorrow I can find this faster and start off with a decent post.
Blessings!

Blessings!

Sunday.... the first one in April....
It is a beautiful Sunday here in Arizona. The sun is shining, warm, but not too warm (at least yet). It is still so odd staying home all the time. I work from the kitchen table during the week on office stuff, cause our stupid (yes, stupid) internet will not extend to the alcove. I did buy a wifi extender, but I can't tell that it is working any better yet. So I stay here in the kitchen area nearly every day. I have my personal laptop under my work laptop so it's easy to switch them out. And yes, now I'm on my personal one. I try to keep them separate - although I do use my work laptop during the week since I'm on it, to write in here. When I do. Lately I have been so busy with work stuff that I haven't had time to even think of it.
Hubby has decided he wants to write his blog … he did one when it was first created - in 2013. I finally found it, but couldn't find a 'new post' so we ended up instead of Pastortomsponderings, I changed it to Pastortomspondering. It took it and it came up the way it should. I don't know. All I can do is just say I don't know. I told hubby once this quarantine is over, he can have our son come over and look at it -or he can continue with what I was able to do. I saved to his favorite so he knows all he needs to do now is click on that link.
I'm not good at all with computers and I'll be the first to admit it. I tried to create a new blog totally the other day, but I think it is linked into this one. I was going to do Random Thoughts, but it didn't look like it took. So then I tried 'mycursorranaway' and that took, but it looks like it is under random thoughts. I don't know what I did. But, I want to go back to using this blog as for it's original intent. Even if the other doesn't work.
Yes, I want to use this blog for what I wanted it for. I wanted to put positive and encouraging messages on it. Take scripture and give my thoughts on it. Instead, over the years, I have made it into a sad state. I griped, complained, and whined most days. Well, perhaps some days it was informative, but for the most part, I don't like what it has become.
So, I created the other blog so that I can gripe and complain. LOL I do need some outlet, correct? Don't know if it will work or not, but …
Today is Palm Sunday. We watched two church services this morning. Free Chapel is Pastor Jentezen Franklin's service and I really love the fact that this man preaches the Bible. There are no gray areas. The Gathering Place is our church, with Pastor Paul and Jill Johnson. It's online too, and Pastor Paul also teaches the Bible. That's why we go there.
But what I really miss is preaching that tells me what the Bible says and how to apply it to my life today. I miss having people in my life who would hold me accountable. People I could talk to and share my heart with. That is something I am processing now. I may start my own group. Yeah. Now that's a real thought. I will have to pray about whom to invite as it would need to be a closed group. But I would love to find women who want to study and share God's Word and what they need to share personally, need prayer for, share joys and fears. That is something to ponder. Why was it laid on my heart? Because I miss it. At one time, for several years, I was in such a group. But, pastors changed, disruptions happened, I changed, we changed, we changed churches, and although I'm sure I could find someone there.... with working it is harder to get together.
So enough of that.... what are you feeling right now? Where are you hearing God's Word? How has the covid 19 pandemic affected you?
Blessings!
Stay well.
