I can't believe how fast this year is going by! It seems like it has been ages since I have seen some of the grandchildren - and great grandchildren - and I do need to rectify that! I get to hang out with my middle child a bit this week so get to hear about his family. Which is a good thing. Unfortunately, his wife had a car accident (as is he at the moment), but both are physically ok. Which is prayer covering every day over each one! But, gotta admit, I haven't prayed for vehicles!
I have my 2nd annual (here at work) lunch party on Friday. Still not sure what I will be bringing, but hope whatever I decide it will be easy. I'm thinking nachos cause I can buy a can of cheese and let it heat up all day. Also, everyone loves my deviled eggs so will have to make those as well - and now it's up to 2 dozen to bring - not just one dozen! I usually make taco soup, but don't know if I will this year or not. I'm thinking something more simple. Maybe a run to Costco will be in order Thursday nite for pinwheels stuffed with chicken. It went over pretty good at church last Sunday.
It's still pretty hot out, but haven't been out much. I did manage to take Sheeba out for a walk one Saturday morning - but haven't been able to find her ..... can't think of the name of it!! to walk her with. She pulls on the leash so want the 'other thing' to hook it on to so I can control her better. She is getting pretty big (5 months old tomorrow) and over 50 pounds now, I reckon. She is pretty strong. We've had a couple run-ins with her lately - partly our fault. We just don't wait long enough (you would think 30 minutes would be enough) to make sure she goes "poopie" before we put her to bed. The other morning hubby got up to find her wallowing in her crate .... yeah.... in her crate. He was NOT happy at all to have to clean it up (there are advantages to going to work!) and then having to give her a bath. Problem with the bath, he didn't do it until he wanted to - which means she laid and rolled in the carpet, the tile floors.. and now they stink. So I will be shampooing the carpet and getting the floor mopped this weekend.
My boss shared something she and her husband do every weekend. I was sharing about my always wanting to go through boxes and get rid of things - but never doing it because I am overwhelmed with the volume of what I need to do and don't know where to start. She said she and her husband set the alarm for two hours - and for that two hours only they work on whatever project they want to get done. At the end of that two hours, they stop. I think I will try that. Pull out a couple boxes and just decided that for two hours that is all I'm going to do. And do it. Maybe, just maybe, I can start getting rid of things.
I certainly know my kids will not want to go through my papers, etc. when I'm gone - and I don't want to do it while I'm here - so I may as well get rid of them! Who knows what is in those boxes - it's been years since I've gone through some of them!
My 70th birthday is Friday. Who would have thought! I'm grateful God has allowed me to live - and be healthy - this long - and I hope He continues to do so. So much of my life I would like to change, to do.... but I can't live with regrets. I need to keep looking forward to what the future has to bring me.
Gotta get back to work!
Blessings!
