The last of March!

It is already March 31st - where is this year going?!  It sure is flying by fast!

Today our church is having an Easter Carnival - free to everyone.  We are going down shortly to help out as volunteers.  It will be very warm out (in the 90's I think) and we will be in the sun, but I'm looking forward to helping out in our community.  The time is from 11-2 for the actual carnival, but of course we have to be there earlier to help set up - not sure about the tearing down.  It will be a good day, especially for the children.

Last night we had three of our grandsons over for dinner while their parents went out to celebrate their 21st anniversary.  We had so much fun with them.  We played wii games and worked on a puzzle, played sorry and played sequence.  I loved it when I kept getting hugs from the youngest.  Even grandpa played the wii with them.

Got a call from my daughter that she was out with our granddaughter....who is learning to drive!  Wow - my daughter does NOT have patience to do this!  Our poor granddaughter!  She is nervous enough while trying to learn and gain confidence.  Yes, my daughter, when you read this, you need to encourage her, not drive her crazy!

Here it is the last of March and new adventures await for today.  Tomorrow means one more month of training before our mini-marathon.  I have today's walking to get in before I will send my totals to my brother and sister.  I have been trying to walk - but several days I was unable to.  My treadmill has been getting a workout this past couple weeks.  Until Tom can walk long distances, it will have to help me out.

What are you doing today?  Are you taking time this Saturday to spend time with those you love?  I read on my sons' blog this morning that one of his boys woke him up asking if he could get on the computer.  My guess is that it was Nathan.  I'm assuming he let him.  Time with dad, even if it is on the computer.  Way to start the day.

Take some time to do something special with your children or grandchildren today.  Three months are already gone this year.  Looking back, what have you accomplished?  Has it been all work, or have you taken time just to be with someone and give them your undivided attention?

As much as I try, I'm not able to spend time with my children and grandchildren as much as I would like to.  But, I take what I can.  Hope that you find a way to have that special time with yours.

Blessings!

Yea! I lost!

I weighed in this morning at Weight Watchers and I have lost 2.2 pounds this past week!  Yahoo!  I've walked about twenty miles total, I think, plus watched (somewhat) what I have eaten.  Still have quite a ways to go before I can reach the 15 pound challenge my brother gave me by May 1.  Still, I believe it can be do-able.  Regardless, I feel that whatever I lose is for my benefit - so what difference does it make if I lose ten pounds - or fifteen.  I'm still ahead.

Haven't gotten much done yet this morning but have hopes of working in my office some more.  I have made all the bread and butter pickles I'm going to make for awhile.  One of my sons came over this morning and bought a case so that he could give out to his friends.  That makes me laugh.  But it makes me feel good too, that he thinks my pickles are good enough to give away!  Making those took me away from working in the office and throughout this week I have done other things I wanted to do.  Now I can begin to focus again.  I know what I want to do - and if I can get to it without interference, I know I will get it accomplished.

It is another beautiful day here in Phoenix.  I'd love to go walking outside this morning, but not sure if that will happen.  If not, will be on my treadmill this afternoon for I have to report my totals tomorrow to my siblings for the month.  If I can walk another 12 miles, I think it is, I beat my record for last month, in spite of all the challenges of walking this month. I am determined!

I wish my daughter lived closer so that we could walk when Tom can't.  At least she enjoys walking and we get an opportunity to catch up on life.  It seems we rarely get a chance to talk.  She is always working, which is good, but she doesn't get much time to just be with me.  Yeah, I'm important too.  At least I think I am.  She actually called me yesterday, I think it was, and said she just wanted to talk and catch up on things.  Unfortunately I didn't hear the phone ring and missed the call.  When I finally called her back about an hour later, she was too busy to talk.  Oh well.  My oldest son doesn't care to walk the distances I do, and my youngest son does have my passion for hiking and walking - but he lives too far away.

Thinking about my youngest son makes me pause.  He is going through a very difficult time right now.  He and his wife of 13 years are getting a divorce, should be final in April.  He is moving out tomorrow.  It is past time, I'm afraid.  The family has been concerned about his mental well being for many years since his wife has severe mental issues that he has walked with her through for the past 13 years.  It has been so hard on him and I covet your prayers for him.  The hardest part for him is leaving the three children.  He shared last night that his oldest (who is nearly 13) told him he hated him and he wasn't his father.  My protective instinct came out and I wanted to comment on the paternity that was always in question.  But I didn't.  All I said was that if his mother is telling him that, then perhaps my son doesn't have to pay support for him although he has claimed him as his son all these years, to save face for his wife.   But, I must stay out of it and let him do what he feels he needs to do.  He deeply loves each of  his children.  I wish he didn't let her keep the children, but for now, he feels he must.  We must respect his decision on dealing with his soon to be ex-wife and his children.  At least he is finally getting out of that situation and can live his own life.  He is crying out to God for guidance and direction, and I am trusting God to provide him just that.

How are you doing?  Are you hanging on by a thread right now or do you finally feel you can take a deep breath?  Life sometimes is so hard to live, and you wonder at times, why bother.  But then, you think of those you love, and you know why.  Sometimes is it only our children that cause us to face the reality of our issues and situations.  Sometimes we have to do the hard things and deal with things we don't want to, just to keep peace.  Are our children worth it?  Absolutely.  How we deal with issues and problems show our children how we expect them to deal with life issues and problems.

God has never told us that when we follow Him that life would be easy and carefree.  But He did tell us that He would walk with us through every step on every path that we take, as long as we put Him first.  He said He would never leave us nor forsake us.  I believe that.  I pray Psalm 91 over my children and grandchildren every morning. I am believing that God will protect them and guide them every day.

Who are you praying for? What are you dealing with in life? Going through some struggles? Take some time to talk with God about it, and trust Him to walk with you through it.

Who is a blessing to you?  Have you let them know it lately?  Take some time to share it with them.

Blessings!

Wow - it disappears...

I was typing away and pondering what I was writing, when my entire blog disappeared.  Yes, it is still in my draft folder, but now I wonder if I should post it.  What was I blogging about?   The insecurities of others.  Perhaps I should just leave it in my draft folder for another time.

What do you do when you know criticism is coming your way?  That you are going to be condemned about something?  Usually the 'issue' is of no great importance, but to the person doing the complaining and criticizing, it is their mission to tell you how they feel, and what is more, they expect you to fall at their feet in appreciation for bringing it to your attention.

I was awakened about 12:45AM this morning thinking about a comment someone spoke to me last night.  I laid awake thinking about this comment and imagined what it was about, what was bringing it about.  Could I be wrong about the context of this comment?  Absolutely.  I'm sure that at some point within the next day or so I will get the continuation of what the comment is about.

And I am already praying that I will respond the way I should, and not in anger.

How do you respond when someone criticizes you or condemns you about something?  Let me put it another way......  you go out of your way NOT to criticize or condemn someone, but yet they seem to find fault with a lot that you do (or don't do).  How do you respond when they do this to you?  Do you get angry?  Do you feel hurt?  Do you feel betrayed?

I do.  Every time it happens, something dies inside of me.  I feel alone, betrayed, condemned.  I withdraw to protect myself.  I want to give up.

I am not comparing myself or anyone, but I wonder how Jesus felt when He was betrayed, when He was condemned, when He was criticized.   I am sure when those closest to Him ran away, He felt alone.  When He hung on the cross for our sins, betrayed and condemned, He felt alone.  But He did it anyway.

And when He rose again on the third day, He forgave it all.

When these things happen to us, we won't die and rise again on the third day, but perhaps we need to go that extra step.... and forgive it all.  Forgive what others do to us, what they say to us.  Sometimes it isn't easy, but you know what, I'm sure that is what Jesus would want us to do.   When you are a follower of Jesus, you want to be like Him.

A Follower of Jesus.  He endured much for us.  Should we endure less..... should we give less... should we be less....

Blessings!

Training Update

Yeah, still in training for our mini-marathon.  However, training has been skimpy this month due to various reasons.  I have managed to get on the treadmill some days this month.  Miss getting out and walking in the fresh air around the canal.  Hubby strained a muscle a few weeks back and prior to that had another muscle problem.  He hasn't walked all month - until today he said.  He went to the gym while I got my nails done and said he walked a little on the treadmill.  Thinks we can go out tomorrow and do a little.  I don't  mind the training, I just wish I had someone else to call to walk with me long distances when hubby can't walk.   It really puts a strain on training when you have to wait.

My brother tells me I can't use hubby not being able to walk as an excuse.  Not that I tried to, but wanted to explain why I haven't done any long distances lately.  This past week I was canning pickles almost every day plus had the grandchildren here.  They get my undivided attention.  Have been on the treadmill every day for the past five days here at home, I think.  I figure I can work on my speed while doing the smaller miles.  The most I  have done is 4.51 miles in one hour.  I do confess I ran a minute here and there.  As much as I would love to be able to run, I am not a runner.  It does make my distance and speed look good.

I wonder how my sissy is doing with her training.  I think she is flying back to Indiana from Florida today.  I know she will be busting it once home - our brother will be checking in on her!  She can also train with him some.  Home state advantage!   Just a little over one month before the race!  It's scary it is almost here!  I wonder if hubby will be able to compete in this mini-marathon.  He seems to have a lot of leg muscle issues that take him off walking for days/weeks at a time.  For someone who prides himself on working out and doing all that fitness stuff, he sure seems to get injuries lately.  Sissy still has her leg issue from when she fell.  Not sure if she will be able to compete either.  I know one thing - I WILL be competing - even if I have to crawl over the finish line!  God willing, He will keep my legs and back strong and healthy so that I can not only compete, but finish.

We are going to see October Baby this afternoon.  When you donate blood you can build points - and cash in those points for various gifts, including movie passes.  The movie passes I have expire on Saturday so guess we will use them today.  I have one more free pass that expires on Friday - told hubby he needs to go see a show with someone.  I'm not really a show-going person.  Besides all the 'crap' that is usually at the shows that I have no desire to see, the good ones I do want to see, I wait until they come out on DVD.   But, to use the passes up before they expire, we will go today.

Nothing much going on today besides the show in a bit.  Need to pick  up one of the grandsons from wrestling practice this afternoon.  Perhaps we will take he and his sister out to dinner as their parents have something going on.  It will be fun to spend some time with them - it has been awhile.  Hmmm, guess I better text their mom and ask.

Hope that you are having a good day.

Blessings!

Still canning pickles!

I think today will be the last day for pickles!  I just couldn't bring myself to work on them yesterday.  All in all, with my grandson Ralph's help, I think we have canned close to 45 quarts or so.  It's difficult to figure out now since we have given several jars away.  Stopped by my son's house yesterday and he reminded me  he wanted a case of pickles to give to his friends.  No worries, I will get them done today.  I really do enjoy making them and giving them away.

I need to figure out a way to can my salsa.  Well, I have in the past, but I'm not sure if it will truly last long on the shelf.  Usually I make it and put in a jar, (and give away at times) making sure it stays refrigerated.   One son found that he really does need to refrigerate my salsa.  I had given him a jar and he, thinking it was 'canned', put it on the shelf.  Several days later he saw liquid on the shelf.... where the salsa had fermented out under the lid.  It does that in the refrigerator too, when you don't eat it right away.  One year I had made several jars at Christmas time for gifts.  One jar I had put in the back of the refrigerator for my younger son who lives in another city.  Totally forgot about it.  When it was discovered in the back of the refrigerator about 3-4 weeks later, it had fermented in the jar, and was bubbling.  When we opened the lid, it started bubbling over the jar.  Usually this is not a problem; salsa does not last in our house very long, especially when it is my homemade salsa.

Canning reminds me of my mama.  She used to can tomatoes, green beans, fruit, etc. years ago.  She would often buy canned blackberries from her sisters in Tennessee as we didn't have the vines in Indiana.  Mama's homemade blackberry cobbler.... mmmmm.  My big brother, Sammy, used to make it too.  I miss them both - and their cooking!

I love that I have been able to share some of my love of canning with my grandchildren.  I believe three or four of the grandchildren have been involved at some point in my canning of jams, pickles, and salsa.  Yeah, I've tried my hand at jam too.  One year I made Cherry Strawberry Jam..... only to give it away as Cherry Strawberry Syrup.....  it didn't jell.  It was still soooooo good!    Haven't tried that for a few years.  Ideas for Christmas!

Today is Monday and just have a few errands to get done when hubby gets back home from a meeting.  After that I will be back to pickling and then on my treadmill to get my exercise in for the day.  I'm glad my brother has challenged my sister and I.  I'm not sure how she is doing, but it really encourages me to push myself - even though there are times I wish I didn't have to do it!  Hubby has strained muscles in his legs this past month on different occasions so hasn't been walking - I've had to use my treadmill.  It's boring, but sometimes I will put on a movie and watch it as I walk.  I'm pushing myself on speed too, since the 13.1 mile mini-marathon is to be completed in 4 hours.  Quite do-able, for sure.  Yesterday I did 4.5 miles on the treadmill at 13:51 minute mile - but I did run a few seconds periodically too.  I can't run for great lengths of time.  Just wanting to build up strength in my legs and back for the walk.

What are you doing for yourself today?  Are you doing something fun or planning something special?  Are you taking time to take care of your body today?  Give yourself a challenge to go a step farther than you did yesterday.  Get out and walk around the block.  Or even to the corner.  Each day, push yourself just a little bit further.  Soon you will find yourself feeling like getting out and doing something.

Or maybe learn how to make pickles.

Blessings!

Happy Birthday Aunt Mae!

Nearly 30 years ago we moved to Phoenix from Indiana via San Pedro, California.  Long story, but not for now.

When we came to Phoenix, we found a church nearby to attend - North Hills Church of God.  We would go and sit on the left side with the two children that moved with us, and usually sat in front of five people who we came to call, Aunt Lena, Aunt Mae, Aunt Vera and Uncle Joe, and Aunt Sue.  The four women are sisters and they actually lived side by side in double wide trailers on the south side of Phoenix.  They all became very dear to our hearts.

Aunt Vera, Aunt Lena, Aunt Sue's husband Smitty, and Uncle Joe have all passed away, leaving Aunt Mae and Aunt Sue of the 9 siblings in that family.  Aunt Mae is the oldest, with Sue I believe about 9-10 years younger.  Aunt Mae and Aunt Sue live together and have since Uncle Joe died and they sold the property and moved to Sun City.

Today is Aunt Mae's 99th birthday.  How cool is that!   Aunt Mae taught the children in Sunday School for close to 50 years, I think.  She is such a blessing.  Everyone loves Aunt Mae.  Today Aunt Sue had a birthday party for Aunt Mae after church.  It was so fun.  One of the things we did after lunch was every table got a package of photos of Aunt Mae.  They were from a baby until recent.  It was fun seeing Aunt Mae in the different stages of her life.

Happy Birthday, Aunt Mae!  When I grow up I want to be just like you!  Love you so much!

Who is that special someone in your life?  Take some time today to celebrate them.

Blessings!

Clearing the clutter....

With all I have been doing this week, canning and playing with the grandsons, I haven't gotten back on cleaning my office.  I have things taken down, have things on the floor, things in boxes.... but nothing in place.  Today I need to can the rest of my pickles then I can focus on the room again.  I really do want to get it done.  It has been a 'cluttered' area of my life far too long!

Have you ever looked at your life and all the busyness of it, and wondered why you feel so unsettled and distracted?  Could be your life is cluttered!  Well, actually, you can have things stuffed in closets within your mind that cause you to feel overwhelmed, cluttered, distracted.

If you invited someone to visit you in your home, you would probably go through the house and make sure things were out of sight, correct?  If you are like most, the items you would be removing probably would not be placed in a place they could stay....but thrown in the closet, under the bed, hidden in another room.  We all have done something like that for sure.  We want our home to be presentable so we remove things so it appears that way.

But what about your mind?  Your body?  When you invite someone to share your life with you, whether by friendship or family, do you go through your mind and close doors on what you can share and do not want to share?  I know I do at times, for I don't want to hurt anyone by something I say or do.  I'm sure you are the same way.

When we invite Jesus into our hearts, and into our minds, and into our bodies, and into our lives - do you open the doors to let Him clean them out, or do you close those so that He doesn't see them?  Do you try to keep the 'bad' stuff in a closet so that He doesn't see it?  What about that smelly garbage you have in the back room that you keep in your mind?  Are you afraid or ashamed to open the door to let Him see in?

We can freely open each and every door of our heart, mind, and body to the Lord.  He will not shame us, but will help us clean and disinfect each and every room, every closet, every shut door.  All He wants you to do is give Him permission to go in.

Will you give Jesus permission to do a personal renewal housecleaning in you? You will feel better than you have felt in years if you do.  All you have to say is, "Jesus, please come into my heart, my soul, my mind, my body, and make it clean.  I give you permission to go into every closed door, into every room, and make it yours.  In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Blessings!

So quickly time flies!

Wow!  Here it is another week gone by already!  Especially this week since I've added extra activities to it like having some of the grandchildren over for an afternoon or so a few days.  I have had a blast with them and we have still been able to get some things done.  The fence was stained by Ralphie and Grandpa, I got several quarts of cucumbers made, and cookies, and and chocolate covered things , and just having fun.  Even if it was just on my part. :-)  But, I do think the grandsons enjoyed it too.

Today Nathan is coming to spend the afternoon with us.  I will be heading out shortly to pick him up.  Not sure yet what we will do.  I will have to see what interests him as well.  I still have cookie dough so may let him start with that while I think of something else.

I finally traded my blackberry in for an iphone yesterday.  That is now my new learning trial.  I've finally managed to get my apples ID to work on it - struggled with it quite a bit last night - it wouldn't accept it on the iphone.  Finally got it done this morning so have my Words with Friends downloaded.  That is my addiction.  But at least it makes me think and use my head to spell words!

My brother tried to shake me up this morning.  I had text'd he and my little sister last night to tell them I had an iphone now.  They had constantly been saying to me.... "if you don't have an iphone, well, you just don't have an iphone."  Private joke, perhaps.  Anyway, it was because of things they could do that I could not do on my blackberry.  Anyway - this morning he texts me something about "did you know how awesome the new Droid is?  WOW" .  Sorta like that.  I told him he better quit messing with me - I didn't want to think I made a mistake with the iphone when I got it on his,  my sissy's and my husband's recommendation!   He finally confessed he was having fun with me.  I'm so gullible.

This is short today as I need to get changed so I get my errands done before picking up Nathan.  It is a beautiful day outside and according to the weather on my new iphone, it is already 73 degrees.  Going up to 83 today, I think.  I love it I love it I love it!!!  This is why I love Arizona!!

Hope you have a blessed day!  Do something fun!

Blessings!

Things to do!

My 'to do' list doesn't seem to be going down any!  I have been having lots of distractions in completing some of the tasks I have on my list of things to do.

Yesterday our grandson, Ralph, came over to help Grandpa paint the fence in the back.  It didn't take long, about two hours, and then he offered to help me work on pickles again.  Yes, I still had (have) cucumbers.  So we did, I think, about 16 more quarts.  We finished up at 5PM when Grandpa and I had to leave for our classes at church.  Dropped Ralph off at home on our way.  Took several jars of pickles to church to give to friends.  I love to do that.

So, with doing pickles again this week, didn't get my office worked on, nor did I get any walking in.  I thought I would walk after church, but I was really tired so read instead.  Today I have errands I need to get on.  Waiting on the Schwans man to arrive so that I can get started on those.  For now, working on my blog and reading emails is in order.

We have appointments scheduled at 11:45 today to donate blood.  We try to donate every eight weeks and know the value of donating since our daughter needed it desperately during her leukemia.  We want to help others live.  I hope that you think about donating as well.

Need to run by the bank.  I had an HSA account with Chase from work.  I still have it.  When Tom went to the dentist back in February, I wrote a check from the HSA account for the dentist and when it cleared, was going to go in to close it.  My reason for closing it is that what goes in it is pre-tax, so if I put money in it on my own, it is after tax.  My understanding is that I can not claim anything paid out of the HSA account because of the pre-tax status.  Anyway - not depositing right now and my plan is to close it.  My reason for bringing all this up, is that the check I wrote to the dentist was returned to them WITH an NSF fee of $30, and what is stamped on the printed check is "Unable to Locate".  HUH?  I just now went online and printed out my account information, with the balance, so that I can take it to the bank and show them I do have an account, have a balance, have them remove the NSF to the dentist and close my account.  I will then need to go by the dentist office and pay them.  I'm sure all this will take time.  I probably will have to wait until after we donate blood so that I will have plenty of time to work through this with the bank.

Still have cucumbers I need to can, and am breaking green beans up too.  Not sure how much of that I will be getting done today.  I plan to get on my treadmill at some point today as Tom still can not go walking.  He did get in for the massage yesterday and was given some stretching exercises to do.  Hopefully that will help him get better so we can get back on our walking schedule.  We are down to less than 6 weeks for the mini-marathon.

My brother has now challenged my sissy and I to lose 15 pounds by May 1st.  It is doable so I accepted the challenge.  My sissy isn't so sure she wants to be in the challenge, but I assured her that it is doable, plus the fact that anything we lose is a plus -- so why not have challenge!   I think the main thing is that we both love to eat - and usually lots of chocolate and carbs.  To lose weight one really needs to curb appetites for those things!

Well, I need to jump off and check emails before getting ready to head out.  Hope that you are getting some things done today.  If you are able to donate, please check in with your local blood bank and donate blood today.  You can save someone's life.

Blessings!

Having so much fun!

I am having a blast with my grandsons!  Sunday one of the older ones helped make bread and butter pickles, yesterday afternoon I picked up the youngest, David, who is six.  He made cookies with chocolate chips and sparkles, chocolate covered bacon and chocolate covered pretzels.  I remembered this morning he also wanted to do chocolate covered carrots, but I forgot to get them out of the fridge.

David talked all afternoon, cracking me up with his descriptions and innocent comments.  At one point I had to put my hand over my mouth to keep from laughing out loud when he was talking to Grandpa!  He even got Grandpa to turn off the TV and play some wii games with him.  I told David that perhaps this summer he could come spend a day with us, and I will have my office completed, the TV fixed up in there and I would have the wii game back in my office.  His comment?  "Yeah, then Grandpa can watch his TV while we play the wii and we won't bother him."    He made me laugh.

I am looking forward to having another grandson over, Nathan, on Friday afternoon.  Not sure what we will do at this point, but I usually let the grandchild choose out of the things I suggest.  They do like to cook so that helps when I'm coming up with suggestions.

I love being a grandma and wish I could have all my grandchildren around all the time. Yeah, some people don't agree with that thought, but others know what I am saying. It isn't having them underfoot all the time, it is allowing them to have fun time and to make memories with us. Not on a daily basis, but at least periodically. I don't get my grandchildren very often, so the times I can get them, I treasure.

When our children are around, it seems we are so busy with life that we don't really give them of ourselves.  Then we say our grandchildren are our children's responsibility.  Well, I don't say it, but others do.   I always wanted my children and grandchildren to be close to me, yet able to live their own lives.

If you have children at home, take time to let them know you love them.  You don't know what their day was like - or even if you do, you don't really know what they feel and how it affected them.  Did something happen that will stay in their minds as they grow?   Will they remember the yelling and fighting within the siblings and parents - or will they remember being loved?   What do you remember about your childhood?   Do you want the memories for your children and grandchildren to be the same - or better?

Memories are what we pass on to those after us.  What my mother shared with me, I have shared with my children.  What I share with my children, they share with theirs.  And so on.  I pray they will be loving and close memories.  Make some special ones with those you love.

Blessings!

It's Bread and Butter Pickle making time!

Saturday I volunteered (with many others) and helped at North Hills Church with Market on the Move.  A huge semi comes and delivers numerous pallets of fresh vegetables.  Well, occasionally you get a batch that aren't so fresh, as I found out with the squash by me.  But overall, fresh vegetables and lots of them!  I help set up tables and put the food out so that people can pay their $10 for about 60+ pounds of vegetables (depends on how much they take of the different vegetables).  This time we had tomatoes, English cucumbers, eggplant, yellow squash, zucchini, Mexican squash, yellow peppers, green peppers, sweet chili peppers, green beans ..... I can't remember what else!

I know I took a lot of cucumbers, zucchini and peppers to can and freeze.   I have my zucchini and peppers all sliced and in the freezer, plus some in the refrigerator to use now.  My grandson, Ralphie, came over yesterday afternoon and he worked on making the bread and butter pickles.  I think I wore him out - he made six quarts and seven pints of bread and butter pickles while I cut up the other things.  I think he did enjoy it - and I know that I enjoyed having him here and working with me.

I have a few cases of the cucumbers left and that is what I will be working on today.  I have on hand about 2 1/2 cases of quart jars ready to be filled.   I need to pick up more, I think.  I usually make the pickles around Christmas time and give away as Christmas gifts - but I have a few requests already since they know I got the cucumbers and planned to do some now.  Also a few people who haven't tasted my bread and butter pickles.... going to surprise them with a jar.  I had to laugh at a dear friend who volunteered with me Saturday - he wanted to carry out a couple cases of cucumbers to my vehicle - with the hopes, I think, of getting a jar or two of them.    Which I do plan to do.

I enjoy canning and making things - and giving them away.  Something that brings me joy.  I always get blessed in return.

What about you?  Do you have a hobby, or a special gift, that you can share with others?  What about working on projects?  I'm sure there are some elderly nearby that need someone to help them that won't charge them an arm and a leg (better yet, do it out of the tenderness of your heart).  What about baking or cooking?  Fix a special dinner for some that don't have family around.  Is housecleaning your speciality?  How about volunteering to help someone sick or the elderly by cleaning their house - even if it is a light cleaning.  What about reading?  You could volunteer to read at some schools or perhaps at a shelter for young children.

Check around your neighborhood and see what you can do to reach out into your community and help those in need.  You will be blessed for using your time and talents wisely.

Time to get busy on the pickles!

Blessings!

Tough Week!

I sure am glad this week is over with!  Well, nearly over with, anyway!  It has been one of those weeks when most things don't come out or end up the way I want them to.  I think the headache started for the week when The Gifted Man series we taped over the weekend was not in the que when we tried to watch it on Monday night.  Then The Biggest Loser didn't tape while we were gone Tuesday night. I won't even go into other little things that went wrong during the rest of the week - but here it is Friday and it is a beautiful warm day out.

We went to drop off a prescription this morning and while there, I wanted to look at an inexpensive TV cabinet that I had looked at last week.  Sure, the display was there, but all the stock was gone on the one I wanted.  So we left that store and went to another. They also were out of stock.  They were gracious enough though to check around and advised another two locations that showed they had the item I wanted in stock.  So off we went to yet another one.

And, it was there.  I was very happy to load it into the cart and bring home.  I need to finish up on my office, where it will be going, and get other things out of there so that I can put this together and get it set up.  Would like to get it done this weekend - but will see.  So, for now, I'm at least happy I got the TV cabinet that I wanted for my flatscreen.

I guess that makes the weekend working out better than it started out.  My two favorite shows (and I don't watch many!  Add NCIS to this list and that's about it!) and neither of them taped didn't make my heart glad, for sure.

Oh - we did attend a new group study last night from church and did enjoy ourselves.  We will probably go back to this location, even though it is a distance away.  Great group of people meeting there and it was fun getting acquainted with them.  So, that was good too.

Tomorrow is Market on the Move (MOM) at North Hills Church and I am volunteering to help so will be pretty busy tomorrow morning.  I really got a workout last month when I helped - my biceps really hurt from picking up boxes and carrying them around.  Had a blast though!  It is always so much fun to volunteer with others and just be a part of helping in the community.  Try it~

I read on facebook this morning a note my daughter-in-law shared about her youngest son (my grandson!) who had an extra Star Wars backpack and wanted to give it to a friend at school who didn't have a backpack at all, but had to carry his papers in his hands.  Which reminds me, I need to notify that school that I have been approved to volunteer for their classrooms.  They should have been notified already by the school district, but I want to help out in my grandsons classes.

Hope that you are having a good week - and as you ponder the things that happened this week, I pray that you find joy in the week.  Check into volunteering!  I'm sure there is someone somewhere who would be grateful for your help.   Have a great weekend!

Blessings!

Just thinking.... faith

This is the third time I have started this blog today.  Although it is a place for my own ramblings and thoughts, sometimes it is best not to put those things where everyone can read.  It can be a scary place when one opens up inside and share their real thoughts and feelings.

So many times it is so much easier to laugh at life and just move on, isn't it?   So what if someone hurts you - intentionally or otherwise - don't you usually just pick up the pieces of your heart and move on?   Things don't go your way at work, so you grumble for a bit, then you pick up the pieces of your self-esteem and continue on.  Or perhaps a friend says something cruel to you, or your spouse, or your child, and the sting of it doesn't go away?   You try to act like it never happened.  After all, you don't want to ruin that relationship, do you?  Isn't that what happens when you confront issues - regardless whether at work, home or elsewhere?  Relationships get strained.  What if situations are extremely tough and you just don't know what to do - or can't do anything about it?

We have One who never leaves us nor forsakes us.  He walks with us through the valleys we go through with work, with friends, with spouses, with children, with situations, with others.  He knows our every need - whether it be health, financial, employment, food, anything.  He knows it all.  He may not quickly supply just what you need, or think you need, but He will take that time to water you.

Yeah, I said water you.  Sometimes our faith is like a little seed planted in the ground.  The ground gets a little parched and we desperately need a drink....but all we get is a drop.  When that happens, what do you do?  Do you fall over and play dead?  Or do you soak in that drop and hold your head up and look to the SON for the strength to get through that next period of drought?

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1.

I have been through many seasons of drought.  Many times I have felt that I wasn't going to survive the emotions I felt inside.  Instead of running away, I run to the One who can help me through each and every trial.  In Him I grow stronger and am able to stand firm.  He is the One who never fails me, never forsakes me.  My faith and belief in Jesus Christ, the Beloved Son of the Living God, is what sustains me in many trials and tribulations.  Other things fade away, but His love for me remains.

What about you?  Are you going through a tough time right now and feel there is no way out?  Are you struggling with your health, with life?  Sometimes life can throw you a curve ball, but when you know the Umpire, you know you are in good hands.  When your faith is low, ask for more.  He will provide all you need.   I know in Whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep me unto that day.  Have faith!

Blessings!

FINALLY - really cleaning my office!

I spent most of yesterday (in between playing Words with Friends) cleaning my office.  I wouldn't go as far to say I am a 'hoarder', but I do love books and as in most homes, the office of the one who isn't a neat freak is the one place where everything gets dumped.  So - in my office I currently have two bookcases (yesterday I had three - moved one out), a rocking chair, a stool, a TV on a table, my treadmill, a small table, a chair (well, I did move it out yesterday too)..and a desk.  And a lot of miscellaneous things.  I think that is all.  Not counting every box I have stuffed under the desk and setting around.  My closet is full of books too.  And clothes.

I made a big dent in it yesterday - moved the chair and the bookcase out.  Just kidding!  I'm starting to go through my books and, closing my eyes, putting in a box to donate to the church for one of their book sales.  I don't read many novels, even Christian novels, so what books I have are on leadership, prayer, classes I have taught, books by Swindoll, Stanley, fasting books, several versions of the Bible, and many others.  I love books that help me change and be the woman I should be.  Some books really lay it out there and tell you just the way it is.  Others are more subtle.  But, those are the books I like.  Like Crazy Love and Forgotten God by Francis Chan; Not a Fan by Kyle Idleman; Sun Stand Still by Steven Furtick.  These are the kinds of books I really enjoy reading.  Those I'm not ready to give up yet.  But I have several others that I have read years ago and can easily give them up. So that is what I am doing with my books.  Hopefully there will be others with my same interests.

I want to take down the large corner desk (which will go to my son when he gets his own place) and get it out of there, get rid of the TV currently there (and put in a flatscreen) and move my treadmill, get a futon for when the grandchildren stay over they have a place to sleep, and just make it a bit more roomy and open.  Of course I have been talking about organizing my office probably for the last ten years.  It is a joke with my girlfriends and I.  It is always on my new years resolution list.  You know, the one we never look at again until December 31 and go 'oh yeah, I meant to do that'.

Today I hope to get in there again and start working on it.  I do have a few errands to run this morning so will be leaving shortly to get those done.  Tonight is church so need to make sure I review my lesson before heading there for class.  This study by Beth Moore on James is fabulous.  We are at the near end of it though.  Not sure what is ahead of me after that.  Still doing some processing on what God is wanting me to do.

In fact, I probably should get off here and get going.  If I don't, the day will get way ahead of me and I won't get anything done that I want to.  And facing it again tomorrow.... sigh.... not a pretty sight!  Maybe I ought to celebrate by having a party once my office is completed.  After all, look how many years it has taken me to get it where I want it.  Yes, I have cleaned it before - but not as precise as I plan for it to be this time.  I want to totally redo it.  Nothing spectacular - but just for me.  That is my runaway room.  Although my laptop is here in the alcove next to the front room.  Another l o n g story that you really do not want to hear.

Cleaning is somewhat like what God does when we turn everything over to Him.  He takes the ugly dark stuff out of us, and replaces it with things that are clear, white, and clean.   He takes the stuff we hide in the closets and cleans them out, but only if you let Him.  Think about it.

Blessings!

Audacious Prayers

I read a book this weekend - Sun Stand Still by Steven Furtick.  This book is really good - IF you want to learn how to pray audacious prayers!  What is an audacious prayer?  Asking God for something that only God can answer.  When we asked God for healing for our daughter, Mary, when she had leukemia, it was an audacious prayer.  When we ask Him to do something or bring something about that only He can orchestrate, that is an audacious prayer.

Granted, sometimes we will ask God for something - and the answer doesn't come.  Well, it does, but we don't see it because it isn't the answer we are looking for.  But why is it not answered the way we ask?  Because it isn't in His will for it to happen that way.  Not that He doesn't love you beyond all measure, just that He wants to do more than just give you an answer.  He wants to expand on your request - and you may never see the answer for you are looking at the 'non-answer'.

I have written down a few 'audacious prayers' that I have asked God for over this past weekend.  Will I see these answers?  I hope so, but even if I don't, I know that God has heard my requests and He will answer in His time and in His way.  One thing I do know, the answers to these prayers can only come because He answers them.  Not by anything I do or by anything anyone else does to manipulate or bring it about.  Only God.

Can you think of something audacious to pray for?  What about a job?  Are you just looking in your current field of employment - or are you believing God to bring you something that He wants you to do?  Perhaps you can take this time to volunteer or to take a class in another field.  What would be something that you can believe God to answer?  Ask Him.  He may want you doing something else.

Perhaps you want a loved one brought back to God.  Ask Him.  You don't have to do anything else but put your request in God's hands.   Trust God for answers.  Don't just offer a short prayer and forget about it - trust God that He will give you what you ask for.  Speak His Word over your request.   Give Him the glory for the answers.

I am reminded in the movie 'Facing the Giants' how one was asked, "If God doesn't answer your prayer, will you still love Him?"

What about you?  Will you still love and trust God even if your prayer was not answered?  Do you have God on a 'give me what I want and I will trust and love you' leash - or regardless of how or if the answer comes, will you still love Him?

I will stand on the Promises of God and I will say, "Lord, I will trust You and love You no matter what.  If You never answer a single request, I will still love You.  I will give You all my praise and all the Glory - no matter what happens."

What about you?  Do you trust God enough to say that?   Think about it - and offer your own audacious prayer.  He's waiting to hear from you.

Blessings!

I Wish You Enough.....

I was gathering papers last night and came across this familiar story.  It has always touched my heart, and I want to share it with you this morning.

Recently, I overhead a father and daughter in their last moments together at the airport.  The airline had announced her departure and standing near the security gate, they hugged and he said, "I love you.  I wish you enough."  She, in turn, said, "Dad, our life together has been more than enough.  Your love is all I ever needed.  I wish you enough, too, Dad."  They kissed and she left.  He walked over toward the window where I was seated.  Standing there, I could see he wanted and needed to cry.  I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say goodbye to someone, knowing it would be forever?"  "Yes, I have," I replied.  "Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever goodbye?"

"I am old and she lives much too far away.  I have challenges ahead, and the reality is, the next trip back will be for my funeral," he said.  "When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough'.  May I ask what that means?"  He began to smile.  "That's a wish that has been handed down for many generations within my family.  My parents used to say it to everyone."  He paused for a moment, looking up as if trying to remember it in detail he smiled even more.

"When we said 'I wish you enough,' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them," he continued and then, turning toward me, he shared the following:

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough 'Hellos' to get you through the last 'Good-byes'."

Then he walked away.

I think too often we expect our lives to be perfect - taking for granted all of the 'inconveniences' that come our way.  God never promised us a perfect life, but He does promise to always be with us through our trials and tribulations.  We all need to remember the bad things are as important as the blessings in life because they help to develop character and hopefully bring us closer to God.  How would we measure the joys in our life without any sorrows?

The weekend is upon us.  I pray you take some time to sit back and remember the joys in your life.  What you are going through right now in trials and tribulations is only temporary.  Look beyond the 'now' and see the joy that comes.

Psalm 30:11
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness...

I wish you enough.

Blessings!

Set Free!

I have been set free!  No, I'm still married.  I have been set free from my doubts and discouragement in who I am.  Now for some of you, that may sound like a weird statement.  I am usually a very positive person, but events over this past year have had me on so many highs and lows that over the past couple months, I have allowed myself to let them drag me down.  And I wallered some, too, I admit.

But, now I am free.  How did that happen?

Lots of things, but truly answer to prayer(s).  I have been working on a Bible study in James, and one lesson I did yesterday was on praying and being prayed for.  Some things said in that lesson got me thinking.   Then a friend called yesterday and he prayed for me (and Tom) as we are planning on getting away for a short retreat soon.  I shared that I (we) would like prayer on what direction and what ministry, if any, we are to plug into at church.  Pastor Don prayed with me before we hung up.

I met a friend for lunch yesterday.  We haven't really talked in a long, long time, so it was good to catch up on what was going on in her life.  She knows some of what I have endured this past year and the struggles I have had.   Barb prayed with me before I left, and sent me a Word from the Lord later that afternoon.  Still pondering on the Word, what Isaiah 62:2-4 could specifically mean for me.  Or perhaps that scripture is for someone reading this blog.

When we got to church last night, one of the associate pastors asked to speak with me.  We sat at a table and he went over a rough design for drawing new believers and new members - and some old - into spiritual growth (my passion) classes and other areas.  He wasn't asking me to head it up, but to be a part of helping put it together and to bring it about.  I kept the information so that I could study the diagrams and pray about what part I could play in this - if that is what I am to do.

Prayer (another passion) has been a vital part of who I am for years.  By that I mean I completely believe in the power of prayer and its role in the life of a believer.   I have seen God's hand at work through prayer.  I know prayer works.  I may not always see the answer, I may never hear of answers, but I know and believe that prayer is answered.  Always.   Tom shared with me on the way home from class last night that Pastor Jim had asked if Tom & I would join his Sunday morning prayer circle (to pray for Pastor Jim, the church, etc) before church.   We had been a part of Pastor Steve's 'Bodyguard' prayer group for several years before he left and moved to Oklahoma.

I believe that as I processed all these things, God showed me that no longer was I to sit back and 'heal' as I have been doing.  My healing is complete in Him.   I believe it is an answer to Pastor Don's prayer, to Barb's prayer, and to all the prayers offered on my behalf over these months.   I still want to pray about the new area that is being formed and presented to me last night to help with (Tom is already on board with being a part of it) as I want to be sure that is the place God is placing me at this time.   Spiritual Growth has been dear to my heart for years - helping others to have a personal relationship with Jesus.   For years I struggled to be a Christian, not knowing I was restricting myself because I didn't know how to live.   A relationship with Jesus sets you free!

So with all the above explanations, I hope you see how I have been set free and know that I am 'healed' by the blood of the Lamb.  Our God is so faithful to see us through all the tough times.   There are still tough times ahead and challenges I will face, but I know Who holds my hand and walks me through, each step of the way.

How are you doing today?  Are you in a spiral right now that you feel there isn't anyway out but down?   Or are you beginning a new journey and you don't know which way to turn?  Or perhaps you feel that you are on top of the mountain, that things are great right now.   Wherever you are, whatever you feel, stop and take some time to sit silently before God and voice a prayer for His help, His guidance, His direction.  Listen for His voice.  Trust Him to answer.  He will.  Get set free.

Blessings!

When we know what we should do...

and stubbornly refuse to do it, who benefits?  What pleasure is in it?  I imagine it would depend on the circumstances, and what one is being stubborn about, but let's look at a few situations.

1)  Your boss wants you to take a survey for them that is mandatory from the company for every employee to take.  Ironically, it is on integrity in the workplace.  But the Boss doesn't want to take the survey.  They 'don't have time'.  So you are asked to take the survey for them.  On their computer no less.  You don't want to, you know it isn't right.  But you do it anyway.  You tell yourself 'what's the big deal - it's a stupid mandatory survey'.    Right or wrong?  I'm sure most readers would say they should have said no.  I have not been put in this circumstance, but I know someone who was, and they have regretted doing it ever since.  I must admit I lost respect for the Boss and for the person who went ahead and did the survey, I felt sorry for them.  Why?  Because they lost their own integrity in the process.  Regardless of how stupid the survey was, they should have stood up and said no.  My opinion.

2)  Your spouse and you have a disagreement.  It is a pretty big one, and the issue is a real one, and things get out of hand.  Your spouse is being stubborn, and so are you.  You both are hurt that the other didn't see your side.  But, you know that eventually one of you will give in and there will be peace between you, howbeit strained for awhile.  Hearts get broken more as time lengthens and you know you should apologize and agree to disagree, or to revisit the problem and work towards a resolution.  But, you want to remain stubborn and not apologize.  Right or wrong?   If you really love your spouse, no matter what the problem is, you will attempt to work things out immediately.  Even if you have to call them at work the next day just to say, I'm sorry for my part, can we talk about this again tonight?  It doesn't mean you are acknowledging wrong, it means you are willing to work through the problem together.   What is more important to you - being 'right' and 'punishing' your spouse for thinking you could be wrong (or are wrong, depending on the issue), or valuing your spouse more than yourself?   What is the price of your love for your spouse, your family?   What example are you giving to your children when you withhold reconciliation and forgiveness and extend stubbornness?  Just something to think about.

3)  Your boss has decided to be a mentor to a group that you don't agree with.  The company supports this group, and at times, seems to push it on the employees.  You have to be very careful on what you say for you can be fired just by voicing your opinion - or at least reprimanded for saying it.  You are asked to help your boss and the employees involved in this group by setting up meetings and arranging locations for them to meet.  It causes you great stress because every part of you is screaming how wrong it is.  Right or wrong?  You close your mind and heart and make the meetings and schedule the locations because you value your job more than your integrity and beliefs.  You help however you are asked to get this group off the ground, participating in the fund raisers, activities, etc.  Or, do you go to your boss and advise you can not do these things and why?   Do you take a chance and put your job on the line to stand up for what you believe in - or are you so fearful for employment you do it?  Think about what is more important to you - integrity or employment.

4)  In the movie "Courageous" an employee is asked to falsify information.  To do so, they will gain a promotion.  To refuse, they could lose the very job they have.  What would you chose to do if it was you?  In the times we are in, employment is crucial for the survival of your family.  Will you choose your integrity over employment?   What do you value?   I'm looking for employment, but I choose not to sacrifice my integrity to get it. God has taken care of me through many issues and difficult times, I'm not going to doubt His ability to take care of me now.

These are just a few thoughts going through my mind today as a result of reading a blog a little bit ago.  Not that what I think matters, but what you think does.  I hope that as you read these 'issues' - which are real to the extent I know of them - that you will truly ponder what is of value to you.  How do you value yourself - and value others?

Just a thought or two.....

Blessings!

Joshua.....

Last night Tom and I watched a movie that we both enjoy.   Joshua.   I can't tell you about the story line for I would much rather you watched it to get the full story.  But I have to share one part.  It's the part that touches my heart.

In the movie, Joshua is sent an "invitation" to go to Rome to see the Pope.  It is a very touching part, one in which the comment is made, "Tell them that I love them".

"Tell them that I love them".  Six words that hold volumes.

When you read those words, what do you think of?  Are you trying to mentally figure out who said what in the movie?  Of course, if you have seen the movie, you know.  But even so, what comes to mind when you read these words?  "Tell them that I love them".

Does it remind you that you need to tell your spouse and children and grandchildren that you love them?  Does it remind you that you have friends that need to hear that they are loved?  Does it remind you of how loved you are?   Does it remind you of those who feel unloved, how much they need to know they are loved?

We all are loved so greatly by our Heavenly Father.  He loves us so much, nothing can compare to His love.  There is truly no greater love.  God the Father gave us His one and only begotten Son, Jesus, to die on the cross.  Jesus, being obedient to His Father, willingly went to the cross to die for our sins.  The Holy Spirit came as our Comforter, our Helper.  All because we are loved.   God showing us how much He loves us.

What about you?  Do you feel unloved today?  Or do you know how much you are loved?  Even if you feel alone, know that you are loved.  Unconditionally.   If there was no one left on this earth but you, Jesus loves you so much that He would have died just for you.  Isn't that thought worth holding on to?

Take some time to let someone know you love them.  Be kind and thoughtful, considerate of those who love you in spite of you.   Stop for a moment, and love.

After all, He says that He loves you.

Blessings!

I should have known better!

I love cookbooks.   I like to look through my cookbooks periodically and see if I can find something I want to try.  That is where I get into "trouble".  Not really 'trouble'.... but it costs me.

I went to a market on the move location nearby with my daughter this morning.  I received lots of tomatoes and vegetables.  I decided to make my slow-cook Tuscany Kielbasa and Bean soup when I got back home.  Oh yum.  I've made it a few times before and it is sooooo good.   I got it all together and in the crockpot so that we could have it for dinner tonight.

Then I sat down with my cookbooks.  I can't really say that is a 'bad move', other than we ended up going to Sprouts, which is like a 'farmers market' of sorts.  They have a really good sale going on right now.  Even with that, I can't believe I spent 'only' $35 on food and walked out with about six bags - and two of those had 2 pineapple in them (pineapples were only 97 cents each)!   We also like to juice up vegetables and fruit - and since so much was on sale, I have plenty to make vegetable and fruit drinks for at least a week or more.

I found another soup recipe in my cookbook I want to try.  My daughter sent me another soup recipe using leek.  Haven't tried that before so it should be fun.  I even found in my 'raw food' cookbook a recipe for making apricot jam.  I really want to try that - looks so easy - and healthy!  NO SUGAR in it and only two ingredients!  I marked several other recipes I want to try.

So why should I have known better than to go through several of my cookbooks?  Because then I want to make everything and want to get all the ingredients (which are usually fresh ingredients) and there is no way we are going to eat everything I want to make.  Which is why the juicer will come in handy so that I don't waste the fresh vegetables.  At least it is a healthy alternative!

Besides seeing a sign for DQ with blizzards - buy one get one for 99 cents and not being able to talk myself out of it, we try to eat healthy.  Got my 'fix' for my blizzard (turtle pecan cluster) so now I can focus on healthy eating.

What about you?  Like to try new recipes?  Sometimes going for 'just an ole hamburger' is sooooo boring!  Check out a cookbook - there are some great ones out there now - and fix something new!  It is really cool when you can put in the crockpot to cook and you can smell it all day.  YUM!

I imagine that God would sometimes like for us to try 'something  new'..... like turning to Him first rather than trying to fix things all by ourselves.  It always takes us much longer to resolve issues when we go about doing it our way.  If we ask God first on how to deal with it, and ask Him to direct us, things are accomplished much faster.  And they always smell soooooo good!

Check Him out!  Test Him!  His Word says to!  Why put ingredients in the problem that don't belong there!

Blessings!

Beauty in one place, may not be beauty in another

Hubby and I walked 11.63 miles yesterday along the canal - took us 2 hours and 55 minutes.  I am sure that he felt the same way - my legs were letting me know ENOUGH!  We were both glad to get back to the car and head home.  After some ibuprofen last night before bed, I'm fine today.  We have decided that we will take a break from walking until Monday - then just short walks next week.   I ask myself frequently WHY am I doing this!  And the answer still is because, as I have shared before, my big brother told my sister and I to either s___ on the pot or get off it.  We were always talking about going walking for exercise - but never taking the time to do it, or being very sporadic about it.  So - he roped us into the challenge of 13.1 miles.  I'm looking forward to doing the mini-marathon, even though it is going to be hard.  I've never competed like this before, and usually run like the plague when an opportunity comes up.  But, it is going to be fun to do it with family.

Hearing about the tornados in Indiana and elsewhere is heart-breaking.  I have family in Indiana, Illinois, and Tennessee.  I have friends in Georgia and Louisiana.  And probably other states as well.  I think the latest we heard is Marysville, IN is 'gone'.  But that is the third city we have heard with the same comment.  Not sure if it is Marysville, Jacksonville, or Henryville, IN.  Our prayers go out to each one.  I can not imagine the fear - and the relief - when the storm came through, and passed.  Keep them in your prayers.

I keep wanting to write something about fearing God, and these disasters that continuously come against the world, against the United States, and how we have turned away from God..... but because I do not want this to become anything more than a place I voice my thoughts, I will keep them to myself.  May God have mercy upon us.

In your own mind, what do you think about all these disasters?  Do you feel that it is just coincidence these tragedies happen?

Do you really believe that in 2 Chronicles 7:14 - New King James Version (NKJV) that God said to Israel, and to us:
14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

I believe in God and I believe His hand is upon us as a nation.  I am not perfect by any means and daily seek His face, His forgiveness - as Martin Luther once prayed 'for sins of admission and omission'.   I want to live my life a reflection of Jesus in me.  Jesus has walked many, many, paths with me.  He has taught me many things.  He has set my feet on solid ground.  Life isn't perfect, some as a result of choices made by myself, some by others.  But I will trust in Him to my very end.

What do you believe in?

Blessings!

Another month has flown by!

Here it is March 1st already!  Where is this year going??   I think back over the last couple months and unfortunately, I don't see that I have made much progress in any area!  Well, other than taking a Bible study on the book of James, that is.   And I'm doing a lot of walking - though not as much as I feel I should.  Hope to be going out for a long walk in about an hour - otherwise I will be getting on the treadmill!

Today hasn't been such a good day thus far.  And I can't say anything, cause James says we shouldn't talk about others.  So I guess that I will leave it at that.

I did get the James workbook mailed to my little sissy today - is she ever in a for a treat when she starts on the class!  If I feel like I have been chewed up and spit out (and I am NOT playing the victim!) I can imagine how she will feel.  We are both sensitive in similar areas.  It will be interesting to hear her comments once she gets started.  I still 'like' to read James; he sure keeps me in line - that is, when I stay obedient!  Some days it is so hard to do the right thing!

Both of my boys are going to the NASCAR races at PIR this weekend.  I sure do hope they have a wonderful time.  The weather should be nice, I think.  I am glad they get to go - and hope that they behave themselves.  And they know exactly what I am talking about!   But have fun - and you can!

Got our taxes filed today.  Glad that is over with for this year.  Why is it we always hate to pull all that 'stuff' together?  Could it be that sometimes it shows us how much money came in - and how little of it we have left?  At least we are done with it for this year.  Get back some from one, have to pay on the other.  And as we do every year, we think how we will start now to make it easier next year.  That lasts about a week.

Don't really have much to share today.  Getting ready to head out for our walk for today and then may start on my office project (still) when I return.  Depends on my mood when I get back.  Right  now I just feel like stepping into a closet and licking my wounds.  Just a metaphor of life.

Hope that you are having a good day - keep looking UP - it is a lot better than looking down and around!  Hold on to the One who can walk with you through any journey.  Without Him, I would truly fall.  I not only grasp His hand, I hold on for dear life!  He is the Healer of my heart.

Blessings!
