sooner, rather than later. Moving, that is.
We declined the first offer and counter-offered on our house. They came back with another offer that we are actually considering. Will discuss with my daughter sometime today. She knows all the details of what needs to be done that I have no clue about. We will need to let them know today if we will accept their latest offer, and they want to send an appraiser/inspector out within three days. So the thoughts of 'what if' come to my mind. I do have a couple concerns, but the comps on our house compared to a house that sold down the street a short while ago with less footage, still no garage but they have a driveway, was high. Compared to the $ per square foot shown on the comps for that house, this house should be offered at $15K more. But that's ok. It still needs some critical things (I feel) fixed. But I don't want to put the $$ into getting them fixed. My daughter and son-in-law already have done around $5K in fixing the house up. The decking by the pool got patched and painted the other day, and more sod put down where Sheeba had killed it. We will pay them back out of the proceeds.
We also put in an offer on the duplex we have been looking at. I did go back over the other day with my daughter and walked through it again. I still can't decide about that one room. Do I put my treadmill, TV, yarn, and an easy chair back there? (which means I will need to keep it clean all the time) Do I make the 2nd bedroom my quiet time room? I'm just uncertain. We did get a response around 8:30PM last night on our offer - it was accepted with the contingency that until our house sells, it is just pending.
But if we accept the offer (if we don't, my daughter will have an open house on Saturday to see if we can get any more interested people), we will close by July 3rd, I think it was. Or perhaps it was the end of June. Either way, once we know we are going forward, I want the duplex painted - perhaps the grey beige that is all the rage now. Any color can go with it. Currently in the duplex we have pink, blue, and mint green rooms. Good colors, but I can't match decor with all that. Or I just don't want to. Regardless, once it is painted, we can start moving things over even though we haven't closed. It's been empty for 8 months as the lady is in an assisted living.
My daughter and son-in-law are not taking a commission on the sale of our house or on the new house, to get us a better deal. They have put a lot of time and effort in helping us - and are asking for nothing in return. I'll need to figure out something to thank them with. They plan to move in about six month, I think. Now that we are taking their duplex, I'm not sure where they will move.
A huge drawbck for me is that I have always been centrally located among my children. Although I rarely see the boys, they were close by if I felt I needed to call them. We will now be so far out, it will be like living in another state, instead of another city. Will they come visit us? Will they want to drive that far - although it's only like 20 minutes or so further for either, I think.
I won't have an island in the new place, but with the cabinets still have counter space. I'm already thinking ahead to Christmas baking and hoping that I can still get the grandchildren to come bake cookies with grandma. I truly do not want to lose that tradition. That would break my heart. It's about the only time I see some of the grandchildren. I want to keep that memory alive for as long as I can.
My mind is wandering of all the possibilities. But I am not anxious, I am trusting taht if it works out, this is God's plan for us. Starting over. Beginning again. But I'm still trusting in the One who knows all.
Blessings!

Moving.... somewhat scary...
We did go look at some houses last weekend. On a whim, my daughter took us to a duplex that she and her hubby were wanting to purchase if still on the market in October. We loved it. It's only 2 bedroom (and we currently have 4 bedroom), but square feet wise - 2097 to 1766 isn't much - maybe the two bedrooms? The rooms are large. The kitchen has cabinets - of which I am thrilled to death. It has a two car garage with one whole wall full of cabinets to store things. It has a small patio out front - gated, that we could sit out in and keeping sheeba on a leash, could allow her to walk around in. Unless we built the wall up, there is no way we could let her out on her own. It's a nice area with flowers and trees. I think one is a lemon tree for which I would say 'yay'! It's a dwarf tree which is fine - I can reach it easier.
Let me see if I can describe it in more detail. You go in the front door, and to the left is a large room that was used as an office. I imagine hubby will take that over. Just because he thinks he has to have an office. We figure in that room we can also put the dog crate, and a recliner, and of course the desk, perhaps some book cases - all in all, it will be an "office". The office, crossing the hallway, goes into the kitchen. In the kitchen is a big enough area we can put the small dining room table in there.
Going in the front door, if you go straight, you walk into a very large room which would be the 'living room'. It is big enought that I can put y large dining table on the back end, the couch and recliners/rocking chairs and the TV up front of the room. By continuing to the back, you can turn left and there is a room they have enclosed, and we have decided that it should be my "craft room". I can set up my sewing machine there, but now thta I'm thinking about it, I'm having second thoughts. You'd have to walk through this room from the kitchen to the big table, and I'm not sure I want to do that. Will have to think more on that.
After going through that room - that leads to the back yard, you can turn left again right into the kitchen which has lots of cabinets, and going straight through the kitchen, you walk into a huge laundry room. Room for washer/dryer, a couple storage cabinets, room for my freezer, a sink, and more cabinets in there.
Going through the front door and going to the right, you head to the bedrooms. On the left is the master bedroom - anothre huge room with a walk-in closet. The master bath is right there with a dressing table and the bathroom has a big shower. LOL It also has handicap type shower head (with the metal tubing)and even a seat! Plus hand railings to help get out. Hubby says I can have that shower since the dressing table where I could put all my make-up is outside that room.
On the right is the 2nd bedroom which is also another huge room with a walk-in closet. I may make that my quiet time room. My son-in-law said he and my grandson could build me a murphy bed and put in there, which would have the bed out of the way when we don't have anyone visiting (which is nearly always). I was really surprised when he commented that I should make that walk-in closet my 'war room'. If someone should come to stay with us, we can just move things around and pull the bed down. I'm liking that idea. I could even put my sewing machine and knitting stuff in there along the way. Yeah, I'm going to keep thinking about that. The second full bath is right next door complete with bathtub and a built in seat. LOL and yes, it has the handicap shower head and railing. Hubby said he would take that one.
So there you have it - I think I've mentioned all the rooms. Still mentally putting furniture in there. I'd like to get rid of our king size sleigh bed. And if we have a murphy bed installed, we will have the queen size bed to get rid of as well. I'm sure there will be other little pieces of furniture that may need to go.
And in all of this, I am praying thta if this is to be our new home, that God will orchestrate it all and everything will work in our favor. If it doesn't, if our current home does not sell right away, then we will look at those situations. Yesterday was the first day our house was shown - 3 times! and we had one low offer. We are declining it, of course! No need to rush to sell - the house is ours, we don't have to move, we want to.
But the reasons we were selling aren't really holding true right now with thinking about the duplex. It doesn't have a yard for Sheeba to run in. In fact, there is no fencing at all. We will always have to take her out on a leash. I struggle with that, but I would rather do that than hubby throwing her outside for a few hours so he doesn't have her underfoot. sigh. I currently walk Sheeba about 2.5 miles every morning so at least she is getting some exercise.
So I'm trusting God to bring it all about if that is what He wants us to do. It will be changing our lives in many ways. We'd really need to find another church - or drive 45 minutes one way to a 2 hour service. Not sure we want to do that, although we love these peopl..
That could be another whole story. But this post is long enough so I think I will go to another blog and elaborate on my feelings.....
Blessings!

Now I know I'm losing it.....
I just posted a post..... only what I thought was going on this one - went on another. What's up with that? I really need to get my son to sort these out for me. Although it is convenient right now that I can look at all three with one click. But - now I don't have anything to say here.
Sheeba and I went on a long walk again this morning. We've been doing this for a couple weeks now, I think. She really looks forward to it - and it gives me a chance to be alone with God and talk with Him while I'm walking. This morning there wasn't too many people out yet. Left around 6AM whihc is my usual time. Back home by about 6:45AM and get the computer up and running.
Monday, which is Memorial day, will start off as a busy morning! My youngest son and I had signed up for the One America 500 Festival Mini Marathon in Indianapolis this year - and it got cancelled because of Covid 19. They gave us an option - we could forgo a refund and donate the registration fee to a charity there, or we could do a 'virtual' sort of mini marathon, send in proof we did the 13.1 miles, and they will send us our shirt and the medal we would have won. We both opted to do that. A grandson was to do it too, but he lives up north so won't be here for our walk, but I understand he has walked that where he lives. He just has to show the proof.
Anyway - my youngest son and I will start at 5:00AM - daylight and cool - and walk. We have opted to walk from my house to the big street below us and back - which is a little over 2 miles - close to 2.5 miles. I asked that we walk that route instead of the canal because there is only one set of restrooms at the canal and it is at the beginning of the walk. No thank you. I need restrooms close by. And water, so I don't have to carry it.
At the mini - of which I have already done two (2012, 2013) there are bands playing, water every quarter miles, port-a-potties lining the path every so often - until the last mile and then you die cause you have to hold it until you get through the finish line! Trust me - I know this.
By doing the walk from the house, we can walk this route 5-6 times and add going around blocks or whatever to get the miles in. And we can always walk to the house and go potty, grab something to drink or nibble on, and go back out and finish it up. Once we are done, we will send our proof into the Mini records and then just wait. I really like the fact that if I have to go to the restroom, we can head home and then go right back out.
4 hours. That is what we get to complete 13.1 miles. I'm older than I was then, and I'm finding - at least with walking Sheeba - I am not walking as fast as before. I may need to 'run' some just to get my time in. But at least with walking 2.5 miles or so a day with Sheeba I have gotten some exercise. Now to curb my eating habits so that I can lose some of this weight!
This weekend will be spent packing and looking at houses. Will be so glad when we find something and move. Right now it is pretty overwhelming.
Blessings!

Raising Hallelujahs!
That song is on Alexa music right now. "I raise a Hallelujah" - I love that song! But other things I can raise a Hallelujah on - earthly things. My one boss plans to take some PTO time next month. That is exciting cause that means less work from her. I plan to take two days off work for my daughter, granddaughter, and I to do our - what we call - Jailbreak Getaway.
Jailbreak Getaway. Do you remember how we got that name? When we first decided to 'run away' for a few days - just the three of us (it was going to be just my daughter and I, but the granddaughter wanted to go too) - we were just calling it Girls Getaway. When we decided to have a name that stuck, my granddaughter, who lived in a dorm at college at that time, blurts out 'Jailbreak"! And it stuck. We could all agree. We are all 'stuck' at some point - especially now - in our homes, in our jobs, in school - so Jailbreak Getaway is perfect.
And I am so ready. I desperately need a few days AWAY from home, away from work, away from spouse, away from dog. I need to have fun. To sit around and crochet all day if we want to. Or knit. Or go walking on long walks. Go where it may be cooler. Oh, that ain't going to happen this year. We are looking at Lake Havasu this year. At least we are hoping it is still available. A coworker has a house there - and it sits empty - and they are getting ready to put it on the market. I casually asked a couple months ago if we could possibly rent it for a few days in June - and they said YES. I've never been to Lake Havasu and I know the London Bridge is there but I don't know what else. I'm sure there are a lot of other things to see.
But it's more than having places to go see. It's getting away where you don't have to report to anyone. No responsibility other than self-care. I am so looking forward to it!
So yes, I'm raising a Hallelujah for that too! I'm so ready to spend some time with God and just sit silently with Him. The only thing better than Jailbreak Getaway - is when I can truly get away ALONE to spend time with God. I wish the Hermitage up north was open again. It's been bought and sold a couple times so is no longer availble to "regular" people. I need to not talk to anyone. Not take care of anyone. Not go anywhere. I need to just be.
What about you? Do you ever have those times when you just want it to be you and God? I finished reading a fiction book about Elijah. I loved the book, although I doubt it is true, but it brought Elijah to life. I always wanted a triple portion of the faith he had for God. I guess the main thing is that I just need to be available for whatever God wants to use me for.
Reminds me of another topic for anotehr day.
Blessings!

Another busy Monday!
Still working from home and I found out from my big boss last week that we will be working from home until at least August - if not permanently. I told her that I was getting used to it - although hubby still interrupts constantly - but was not missing the long drive.
And now the day is over - at least the work part of it - and I nevver got back to finishing this. NO KIDDING. Total interruptions by hubby - 6 times between 7AM - 8:45AM; plus 5 to 11:22AM; plus 5 by 2:24PM and plus 6 more by 4PM. which comes to a total of 22 times he has come into the 'office' to ask a question, to comment, to make his presence known... and that is if I even remembered to mark he had come in! He will come in and ask me if I've completed a project I shared thta I needed to get done! This is the part I DON'T like about working from home.
We have painters here to day painting the alcove, the storage room, the laundry room, and my bathroom. They seem to be doing a good job - a husband and wife team - but I know it is a lot of work. I leave them alone.
My son-in-law and grandson have been here off and on today - finishing up repairs; found out the washer has been leaking and we didn't know it. Found out hubby had turned the sink on in the laundry room and it wasn't hooked up and went all over the floor and he didn't know it. (pan face) They have been working on getting that mess cleaned up off the newly laid wood floors. Going to get a newer used washer - this one is about 25 years old and it looks like it is leaking pretty bad. We probably could call our warranty company to fix it - but we have to pay $75 for them to come out ... or we can savour $75 and take the used newer one for now. As long as it washes clothes, I really don't care what brand it is or what we use. Who knows, we may find a house that is leaving their washer/dryer and it may be much newer than ours now.
Anyway, another truckload of boxes were hauled off to the storage compartment. I dread the thought of unpacking all this stuff - a lot can be thrown out - and I'm getting now where if I'm not using it, and no one wants it, it can go to Savers. I'm just tired of all the clutter. Got to stop.
I've been eating everything I can get my hands on today - and I'm not even hungry. My new exercise/weight program flew out the window last week. I did it two days, then some of my fitness bands got accidently packed and sent to storage. I was stressing to get boxes packed so they can be taken to storage - I just didn't have another hour in me to exercise. So I have put it on the back burner for now. My eating is out of control - I'm a stress eater - and even if I'm not hungry, I'm eating whatever I can. I've got to stop!
I started reading a book last night about Elijah. He is one of my favorite in the Bible. I used to pray I could get a triple portion of what Elijah had. I love his faith in God and that God will do what He says He will do. I want my faith to be so strong that nothing can penetrate it with any doubt or any thing. I used to have that faith. I really did. I still have faith, don't get me wrong. But life has hit me with a lot of struggles, a lot of pain, and the crushing blows of relationships splintered have beaten me badly. I still believe. I just want my faith to increase. And I am trying to focus on God and my relationship with Him, for that is the only way it will grow.
I got lazy, I guess, with all the interruptions of life. I let circumstances and people beat me up, and I've lost my joy. But now I am fighting to find my way again, I am seeking my Joy in Him. It isn't about people, it's about Whom I choose to serve with all my heart. It is a great desire that I be all that God wants me to be, and my desire is to be Completely His.
Jesus has been, and always will be, my All in All.
Blessings!e

I still believe. I just want my faith to increase. And I am trying to focus on God and my relationship with Him, for that is the only way it will grow.
I got lazy, I guess, with all the interruptions of life. I let circumstances and people beat me up, and I've lost my joy. But now I am fighting to find my way again, I am seeking my Joy in Him. It isn't about people, it's about Whom I choose to serve with all my heart. It is a great desire that I be all that God wants me to be, and my desire is to be Completely His.
Jesus has been, and always will be, my All in All.

It's been a little while...
since I've even had the opportunity to post anything. I suppose I could have intentionally got online to write something out, but confession, I just didn't have it in me. My life is turned upside down and inside I am dying.
Since we made the decision to move our house contents have been in the process of being packed up and hauled off to storage. Remodeling of things is being done. New floors. New tile. Painting. Repairs. SO.MUCH.STUFF. I think I have become my mother. Not that that is a bad thing. I just hang onto things in case someone needs it. My mind can't comprehend that they wouldn't want a USED something, but a NEW something.
In thinking about it, it must have come from my childhood for I do not remember having much. Throughout high school, until I started working at a department store at age 15 1/2 (and mother took my checks; they were not mine but to help with family)I only had two dresses to my name. And I had pedal pushers, which we call capris now. Same item, different name. Two dresses. I remember my oldest step brother gave me 5 new dresses for Christmas one year. Then it was discovered that he stole them from where he was working - wherever that was - and we returned them. Seems like I got to keep one or two, but that was it. Yes, he went to jail for it. He didn't live at home so I don't remember much about it, but I do remember the dresses.
I always had what I needed, but I rarely got what I wanted. I remember having one doll to play with - and that was after my dad died and friends took all six of us kids out for Christmas to buy us gifts. I got a doll. I can't remember any other doll. When I was 14, I wanted a cedar chest, because my older sister and my two step-sisters all got cedar chests when they were 14. It was my turn. I remember sitting there in mother's front room opening all my gifts, but not seeing anything big enough for a cedar chest. I was so disappointed, I was in tears. I got the usual underwear and socks, and maybe another thing or two. Then my step-father and a brother went outside and brought in my cedar chest. I did cry then, I was so excited. Something that was finally mine, all mine. I didn't have to share it. And I still have it. At some point it will go to a granddaughter. But I'm not ready to let it go yet.
Yet, I've started to clean it out and pass on to my children the things I have saved in it. Memories for me, papers of not much value to them. Oh some things I think they were glad to see, but others, nah. And that is ok. My youngest hasn't even bothered to come pick his up. I text'd him yesterday because he is/was going to take the remaining desk we have and we are trying to clean things out. Asked if he was going to come pick up the desk anytime soon as it has been awhile since I told him it was empty. He said yeah - after the quarantine. I just shook my head. Really? I could write comments about that in another blog.
I took Sheeba out for a 2 mile walk this morning before I got on the computer. As I walked I prayed and asked God to help us find the home that He wants us to have. I prayed that He would guide us and provide all that we will need. He always has, but I also wanted to ask and not take Him for granted. I believe He will answer, but as in other things, it is in His timing, not mine.
I don't always like His timing, but am glad He is in control. No matter what.
Blessings!

New routine this week....
I started something new this week. I have started walking Sheeba in the mornings for a couple miles. It at least calms her down in the mornings. Right now the mornings are cool and since I go around 6AM, very few people are out walking their dogs and I don't have to worry about their dog(s) or mine snarling at each other.
For now I have better control over mine for we have resorted to training (K-9) and they recommend using a shock collar. I have been against it, but it has truly been a lifesaver in controlling Sheeba and what she does. She is nearly 100 pounds now, and I cannot hold on to her. She has already pulled hubby to the ground twice in the past few months so if he can't control her, how can I? Afraid he will break a hip in a fall, we had to resort to this.
But it works. We keep it on the minimal and hit the 'nick' button to keep her on track. Sometimes we have to move it up a little because she gets stubborn. But it does get her to mind.
It's nice to be able to take HER for a walk, versus her taking ME. Seriously, she used to hurt my arms she would be pulling so hard and I would have to use both hands on the leash. Now the leash is held loosely and she walks even with my feet. When we get to a street and I tell her to sit, she does. When I tell her to 'heel', she starts walking with me. If I tell her to 'stay', she 'most often' will do that as long as I tell her to. We don't need to use that one often and need to practice it more.
We have even been able to get her to stop jumping on people when they come over. She still gets real excited to see someone and runs circles around them, but at least she isn't trying to jump all over them. We can observe it most when the daughter and son-in-law come over to help pack (which is another story) for our move (to wherever that will be). She will run circles around them wanting their attention. We generally have to put her in the crate to calm her down.
Which is interesting. The past month she has been going into her crate on her own and laying down. I asked the trainer about it because it was unusual. He said that is her "cave" and that is where she feels safe. So when she want to get away, she will go into her 'cave' and lay down. Makes sense. I guess we all have our 'caves'.
I have been enjoying the walk as it is just me, Sheeba, and God. It gives me a chance outside of my time in my room to just talk with God, sing to Him, and just be with Him. Sheeba doesn't pull me so I can focus more on God than I do on her. He brings things to mind that I need to talk to Him about, and we have good conversations. Albeit most are one-sided, but when I listen, He will talk with me.
This morning I was reminded of the song my mama used to sing.... And, He walks with me and He talks with me... and He tells me I am His own.... and the joy we share, as we tarry there, none other, has ever, known.
Blessings!

Time.... slowly goes by....
Time. Just for fun, I googled Webster's Dictionary and chose the 1828 version - oh my. There are a lot of things said about time. I chose one.
1. A particular portion or part of duration, whether past, present or future. The time was; the time has been; the time is; the time will be.
Lost time is never found again.
Think about that last statement. Lost time is never found again. That is a very true statement, is it not? How many of us WASTE time. We don't want to do something so we find other things to use our time up so that we don't have to do that.
For example, I should be typing minutes for work - but here I am writing this blog. Now mind you, I am on my lunch break so I am not using work time. But still, I don't like minutes, I don't want to do minutes.... so instead of preparing to do minutes, here I am. I'm not "losing time" persay, cause I am being creative. I'm just not doing what I should be planning to do.
Decided to go to BibleGateway.com and see what Ecclesiastics 3:1-8 says about time...
A Time for Everything
3 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
and it goes on. Read the rest. :-)
Well, hubby is wanting lunch.
Psalm 141:3 Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.
I think I just need to say...
Blessings!
