We had our Maundy services at church last night - and what an experience! Yes, I cried, but let me explain what happened.
First, our pastor started talking about what Passover meant, and where it started (for those of you who don't know, it was when lamb's blood was to be put on the lintel and sides of the doors so that when the 'death angel' came it would bypass that house) - which was in Egypt when Moses was telling Pharaoh 'the Lord says, "Let My people go!" This was the night the firstborn dies if the blood wasn't there. Then our Pastor called my hubby up to the stage front and sat him down in a chair. As Pastor Paul talked about what he was doing and why, he took off my hubby's shoes and socks, and put his feet in a pail of water.
Pastor Paul shared that in Biblical times people wore sandals all the time, and the roads were not paved, but dusty. Therefore their feet would always be covered in dust - and if you were a guest in someone's home, usually a servant or slave was called to clean their feet. But Jesus - He showed us that we are to be a humble people. Jesus, himself, took a pan of water, and a towel, and began to wash His disciples feet. Peter, our rebellious one, said 'no way will You wash my feet!' - but when Jesus said if you don't let Me, then you can have no part of my kingdom. To which Peter replied, wash not only my feet, but all of me. (my words!) Pastor Paul washed hubby's feet. It was so moving, so real, so heart-touching.
Then we had the opportunity to take communion whenever we wanted, and if there was someone whose feet we wanted to wash, we could do that as well. One of our worship people, who is the pastor's daughter, was the one I went to. You see, I have felt this special bond with her since we started going to the church. I had not met her before we started attending. I just love her and never really thought why. God revealed to me why she is so special to me.
Several years ago, we had heard this young woman (when she was around 10 or so, I'm guessing)had gone into a coma. No reason why (and I still don't know the why or what). Prayer was requested for her. She was in a coma for 5 days before she came out of it. When I heard about her, I - plus many, many intercessors - prayed for her healing. Although she didn't know, our bond was through my interceding on her behalf for healing.
As I thought about it during the service last night (I haven't thought about it at all since we have been going there to church and seeing her every week), I got up and went to her and asked if I could wash her feet. Then I told her my story. I shared how I couldn't understand why I loved her so much, until God revealed to me that I prayed for her several years ago. My tears - and hers - started to fall. As I washed her feet, I'm not even sure what I said to her, for it wasn't my thoughts, it was what God placed there for her to hear. We both were crying.
When I finished washing and drying her feet, she asked to wash my feet - but not because I washed hers, but because of this story.....
"Usually I remember every year when I went into the coma for 5 days and thank God for healing me. But this year, when the first week of March rolled around, I didn't even think about it until several days later, and it was just a passing thought. God spoke to me and told me that I needed to REMEMBER the miracles that He has already DONE, and not just look for the miracles He is going to do. You are my confirmation that what I heard IS from God and how important it is for me to celebrate what He did for me."
Needless to say, we both cried through the entire foot-washing. Normally I probably would have chosen another person to wash their feet - I saw one friend trying to get my eye attention when I was looking to see where the young woman was. I didn't want to wait, for if someone asked to do mine, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to follow through with what I felt God was leading me to do. We walked hand in hand to the front.
God used me. As a confirmation. That thought warms my heart, for it shows me that God still can use me. At our previous church I felt un-valued. In our new church, I feel not only loved, but valued highly. It's all God, because He is the One who reigns in this church. It is no one's ego - it is complete surrender to whatever the Spirit says to do. I am at home there. Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind, but now I see. Thank you Jesus.
Blessings!

It's Tuesday, but is working like a Monday....
Oh man - I have really messed things up today. I'm needing to check the calendar to see if it is still Monday! I had an order for cookies (to be made by our chef) for a noon meeting. I had guests arriving for another meeting I was to retrieve from the first floor and take to the conference room at noon. My boss asked me to go pick up her lunch at 11:15 and take to her in another conference room. So while getting her lunch, my co-worker and I went down and got our lunch as well and brought back up. I took my boss' lunch to her, and came back down and my co-worker and I sat in one of the offices and chowed down on our lunch.
I thought I heard my phone ring once but then thought I was mistaken. Never checking anything, I continued with lunch. AFTER lunch - about 12:30.... I remembered the cookies. So I go back downstairs to pick up the cookies - only to find out the chef forgot to bake them! He said he was short three people and totally forgot to bake my cookies. He did offer to bake some then, but since THAT meeting was half over, I told him to not worry about it. As for the other guests - I'm guessing that security took them to the room where the meeting was.
BIG FAIL!! Oh yeah - Two meetings with responsibilities - and (although neither was my meeting)_ - I failed to be available to pick up the guests, forgot about the cookies and was distracted by getting my boss' and my lunch! And yes, I did remember to sit down and eat mine! I actually didn't remember any of the responsibilities until I finished my salad. And it was a good salad too!!
No one really cares about my fail, though. Security took the guests to the conference room - and not a word has been said from the other meeting that they didn't get cookies. Oh well. I ate my lunch. My boss ate her lunch. It's all good, right? :-)
Meeting up with my daughter and granddaughter tonight. I think we will finalize our 'Jailbreak Getaway' that we hope to take next month. Hubby won't like that it's over a weekend - but granddaughter must work and can't take off during the week. And that's ok. We just want a couple days to do whatever. Figure we can get facials, manicures and pedicures..... if we can afford all three - and if not - oh well!
Need to get back to work. 2 hours and 45 minutes to go. :-)
Blessings!

Ugh. It's MONDAY.....
I worked from home on Friday. I didn't have that much to do, and it is a very long drive to the office Monday through Friday - so when offered the opportunity to work from home and save gas, I jumped on it. Sorta. Staying home to work is difficult for me. But, I kept up on emails and things I needed to get done. And I was able to have lunch with a granddaughter. And go for a massage later in the day. And worked on cleaning out the desk in the alcove. I think the room looks worse now, but I still have two drawers to go through in the desk. Then the youngest son is taking it.
My plan is to get another desk - and I had found one at Costco for $250 but it is now gone. I was looking at Staples the other night, and saw they had one I liked for about $300. I would have to measure it to be sure it would fit. I am thinking I want it in my back room - but if it is already put together, it can't get through the door due to how the furnace is right there. So it would also have to go into the alcove.
I really don't NEED a desk - never used the little one that I had (which had been hubby's 40 years ago - hey it's an antique!) but it was too small to do much with it. Back when it was created I don't think computers, printers, etc. was even created! Just need space for the computer now as we purchased a wireless printer some time back. I don't think I would use it if it gets put in the alcove.... just saying.
Saturday was a fun day and I was up early to go donate blood. God is so cool. They tested my blood on my left hand (to check for iron) and it came up 11.7. It has to be at least 12.5 or I can't donate. So the lady told me they can try again with the right hand - so I just said, "God, if you want me to donate blood today, you are going to have to get my iron level up." It came up to 12.9. Figure that one out. I have low iron in my left hand and high iron in my right. LOL Score one for God!
After donating blood I met up with my middle child for lunch and enjoyed spending time with him and catching up on things. Great soup and salad for lunch too!
Then later in the evening, we got another special treat! Our granddaughter text'd that she and family were in town and wanted to stop by for a little while. Of course I got in trouble with hubby because I didn't ask him first - I just said YES!! Like he would dare tell me NO on seeing my granddaughter and great-granddaughter - oh, and the grandson-in-law. :-) I think he was still upset with me because I TOLD him we were going to get another granddaughter a couple weekends in June while the youngest son is out of state. It isn't going to hurt him in the least - he is just a grumpy old man! ANY time I get to spend time with a grandchild, I'll find a way!
I can't believe how fast our little great-granddaughter is growing! She didn't know us so wouldn't have much to do with us. She was fascinated with the buttons on the VCR/DVD player and kept trying to turn it on, and mommy kept moving her hands away. My granddaughter did get a couple photos with us playing with the baby and sent to us. I miss the days when the grandchildren would run to me with arms open wide. They are much too old for that now - but I still get hugs! Treasured hugs.
I made meatloaf yesterday - something I haven't done in years. Wasn't too bad. I also made a spaghetti dish - it was pretty good too! Put some in the freezer and brought in for lunch today. I'm to fix a casserole for a group on Sunday after church - I'm going to my daughter's for Easter lunch - but I did tell them I would fix a casserole. I'm going to give them an option - garbage - or this new spaghetti dish I made yesterday (made fresh, of course, but I had to try it before I could make and give away). Wish I had more time to bake and make things. Some day......
And now I need to get back to work. Boss had a doctor's appointment this morning so isn't in yet. Other boss is in the Azores. And it is another Monday and back to work.
Blessings!

March is nearly gone.....
My boss and I were talking this morning how this month seems to be flying by. It is hard to believe that we are already a fourth of the way through the year. And yet, we whine and complain we never have time to do things or think we can put things off to 'another day'. We all do it.
One of my bosses left last night to fly to Boston. I got a text from her this morning that they made it - just ahead of the 4th snow storm that is heading that way. Lots of cancelled flights, she said. They leave soon for Azores, I think that is what it is called. Some islands somewhere. Her hubby found a 'smoking deal' and scheduled them to fly there for the week. Totally awesome!
I'm not a real traveler where I'm not familiar with things - sight-seeing is just not my big thing. I'm a terrible traveler. I'd rather go and have fun doing things - but not worried about whether or not I'll see all the sights. I'm content just hanging out at a hotel and doing what I want to do. Like shopping. :-) and going out to eat. :-)
Which is what we did last weekend. I was really mentally and physically tired so made plans with hubby to go out of town for the weekend. We did have a nice weekend. Did a lot of needed talking. He actually listened to me some. And I him, I guess. Anyway - we did do shopping, but a lot of reading and knitting and just doing nothing. Didn't eat out but twice - once fast food and once at Cracker Barrel. We just weren't that hungry so had cheese and crackers two nights! Unheard of! And we survived, but I did tell him when we got home that I was NOT interested in cheese and crackers for awhile! We had a good time and I was able to rest. And share some things that were weighing heavy on my heart.
Back to work this week and have had busy moments and some not so busy. Today has been sorta busy - always something to get done. Tried to call in on two skype meetings but kept getting interrupted so missed most of the meetings. No biggie - I was there just to listen in anyway. I was accounted for so that is the main thing.
My other boss told me this morning she is scheduled for vacation from June 1 - June 10. Her best friend and her hubby, my boss and her hubby, are heading to North Carolina for a week. Just to chill out. I wouldn't know what that was like. I'd like to take a vacation with another couple - we have done that a few times and enjoyed it - but I don't know anyone who would want to travel with us. Everyone is getting older and not wanting to travel around.
My daughter, granddaughter and I need to plan our 'Jailbreak Getaway' for this year. This would be our 3rd year. My daughter wanted to go to Antelope Canyon and do kayaking, etc. but that is not my thing - and not her daughter's either. We like to go someplace and find good places to eat. Or look at unique things. We've done Payson, and Tucson. Been there, done that. Was thinking about Flagstaff, but I finally suggested last night as we met up for dinner that why didn't we just find a nice hotel here in town and use that as our base. We could drive to wherever we wanted to go - do a couple nice dinners out. We are only "gone" 3 days and 2 nights so it isn't like we are needing a week somewhere. My granddaughter gave a hearty 'yes' because it would be much more cost effective for her as she does pay her own way. I'm game for it. After all the spring breaks are over would be a good time to find a nice hotel that is inexpensive. Maybe get manicures and pedicures, and just do fun stuff. Don't ask me what that could be. My daughter is much more exploration than I am. Years of being stuffed I guess. I'm content with a good book. :) and my knitting.
Oh yes, knitting. I've taken up a new hobby and am enjoying it a lot. I'm definitely not to the point where anyone could expect a sweater for Christmas - or even a cap! But I'm enjoying making 'dish cloths' right now as I practice on how to manage the stitches and the tension. And of course I still have my sewing to do. :-)
Guess tho I need to get off here - I've rambled on enough. Hope your day is a ...

I am blessed....
Yeah, in spite of all my griping, complaining, and whining, I am blessed. I truly am. There are good points and bad points in most people's lives, and I just use this place as my sounding board most days. Although I could really go off on it this morning, but I will choose not to. No need to bore everyone to death.
Our Company won the contracts in the State that they applied for so everyone is quite happy. And they should be. They worked very hard to get these contracts - very hard. I know, because I had to schedule the meetings and I know how crazy it was getting everyone together in the right location at the same time! It is success in action. It also means my work load is going to increase drastically. It's been busy, but not overly so most days, since I started. But now that we have the new contracts, my understanding is that we will be hiring more people (which means I get to schedule more interviews) and there will be more meetings, more trainings, etc., as we gear up for the start date of October 1, 2018. We celebrated with cake yesterday afternoon, as did our Tucson office. AND, I didn't eat any. Wasn't even tempted. I did have to cut the cake, but that was ok. I'd rather have a good piece of pie than cake any day.
My middle child text'd me last night and invited me to lunch in a couple weeks. The first date he asked for was, of course, the weekend we are getting away. If it was just me, I would cancel the getaway just to have an earlier time with him, but I knew better than even mention it. So we scheduled it for the following week. I sometimes wonder what we will talk about.... but we always find conversation to fill up the time - and now we have the great-granddaughter to focus on too. I am looking forward to spending time with him.
God answered my prayers regarding out tax preparation yesterday too. Last year we had to pay Federal $1600. This year, if hubby pulled the right figures (I only question 1 and I have no idea where he came up with that figure or why as we both discussed that item and agreed it was zero....but that's another subject) and put them in the right places on the form. I gave him all my information, and when "we" sat down to go over it, every time I questioned something or commented, I got "will you let me finish" so I just shut up. I wish he would file his own and I could file my own. I don't trust his information.... and he won't let me have the finances back. again, another subject. Anyway, long story short, we only have to pay Federal $168 this year and get a little back from State which will cover the Federal. So to me, that is an answer to prayer. I didn't care if we broke even - I just didn't want a $1600 bill again.
I was able to get my grandson the other day for a few hours and I enjoyed him so much. I called his mother to ask if he wanted his birthday money or to go shopping with Grandma..... and of course he gave the right answer. "He needed to spend more time with Grandma". I love it. We had fun, I think, at least I did. Nothing found at the first store, I returned by the house so he could see Grandpa, then we headed to Walmart where he found something he liked. Then of course we had to go by Dairy Queen and pick up a box of dilly bars for him to share with his family - that has gotten to be tradition as well. He was going to get a blizzard, but by this time I needed to get him back home as his family was taking him out to dinner to celebrate. All in all, I enjoyed my time with him so much, and I believe he enjoyed his time with me as well. I really need to get more of the grandchildren more often for just a few hours. I miss being able to be around them as much as I want to.
I guess I need to stop and get busy - have meetings to schedule and things to do. Hope that your day has been a....
