I won't even begin to say 'where has this year gone?' for it is nearly over. And I'm glad. It's been a tough year in a lot of respects, and yet, it has been a good year. Just finished the last group of baking with the grandchildren before they were taken back to Showlow to be with their mother. It was a fun time.
I'm working from home again today. One of my bosses pushed last Thursday for me to work at home on Friday and today as it was very quiet in the office. She knows I drive a long ways - so she gave me back two hours a day by letting me work from home. I'm definitely glad to be working from home today as it is COLD and DREARY - and now it's raining! I don't do well with cold weather. My body shuts down and hibernates when it's cold out. Sitting here at my desk in this little alcove - the cool air is blowing in from around the wall air conditioner. We have never used it - although it did work years ago. But, to remove it will mean tearing out a good portion of the wall and then having to do siding on the outside as well as drywall on the inside. And I think I won't say anything else. sigh.
We had a good Christmas. I did a lot of cooking - but I do enjoy it. We started Sunday evening when a granddaughter and her boyfriend came over for dinner - and it went all the way through Christmas. I so much love being with my family. Our little great-princess is so precious! I just love her to pieces - and she gave us a gift that I will always treasure. It's a plaque to hang up and it calls us Oma and Opa - which is what I suggested she call us. I received so many nice gifts, some homemade, some bought but exactly what I was hoping for. Hubby got me a Kitchenaid mixer so now I will be requesting attachments for it. I priced them yesterday at Walmart and they were $39.96 each! I didn't buy any. There were only a couple that I would want anyway. I don't have time to do the baking and mixing like I would want - but I need to at least use it soon so maybe next weekend I can use it.
Tomorrow is January 1, 2019 and we will be heading over to my daughter's for New Years Day lunch. She even offered to do the ribs this year so I quickly said 'ok'. I'm bringing coleslaw and black eyed peas. Grateful I don't have to do it all. It is a lot of work but I have always done it willing for my children and grandchildren. I'm not that fond of ribs so it doesn't even matter to me. I suggested even going with a pork loin as it is just six of us. Both sons have other plans. And that's ok. It's a rest day for them as well.
Need to get back to work - just took a short break. It's different working from home versus from the office. At the office I can get up and move around - here at home I'm afraid to. I get up occasionally, but always stay close to the computer in case someone IMs me. Like right now.
Hope you have a good evening and please be safe out there. Happy New Year - I hope and pray 2019 will start and end exactly the way you want it to.
Blessings!

It's beginning to look a 'little' like Christmas....
I have been so busy at work and at home that I haven't taken the time to write a few lines here. Some days I wish I had a lot more time to ponder stories and other things. It would be nice to have alone time to do that. But, I don't so quit wishing for it. :-)
Our speaking times at the two RV parks has really gotten off in November and we have been busy. Hubby has another one this week, then we will be back at our church for the next two weeks before I have the first Sunday in January. Need to start working on that one because Christmas shopping and baking will take up a lot of my time the last two weeks of December!
I have so much shopping to do and I have no idea where to start for some. It really is more difficult this year as last year I took the theme of 't-rex-saurus' for my middle child and family - and I thought it was a lot of fun. I hope they enjoyed it anyway. This year I have no clue what to get them and I'm sure I will bore everyone to death with clothes. But what else is there!
I need to get out and get the cherries and almond slices to make our Christmas mice too. Then I need to get the grandchildren scheduled for doing their baking of cookies and making Christmas mice - yipes - 3 weeks from today is Christmas! Soooo much to do.... soooooo little time! Especially with me working Monday - Friday until then! Need to check and see if I have any time off for vacation days. I've taken several days off here and there, with a week off in August for our anniversary - and since I only earn two weeks a year, it sure cuts a hole in my vacation time.
We are drawing names today for Secret Santa here at work. There were about 15 of us that wanted to participate and that is ok. There are two people that I am close to whose names are still in the basket (out of about 6 names) and I haven't drawn yet... I'd love to get one of their names. I was going to take the last one that is left - but, maybe I just ought to draw it. Ok - I drew one. I know this person and it will be fun to buy for her.
My knitting is coming along slowly. I am about 3-5 inches away from finishing my first baby blanket. I can't wait to finish this project and learn a new stitch! I enjoy knitting so much - but in doing so, I have slacked off on a lot of other things I need to get done.
I did make a wall-hanging of a snowman for a co-worker in Tucson. She really enjoys making me look bad to my boss and to her boss - copies them on every email - especially if I don't follow up soon enough for her. Well, this past week she stepped over the line. Yes, I had missed something, but caught it before she sent her email...copying my boss and her boss.... and I had a meltdown. My boss laughed and gave me a hug. She knows how this person is. On the way home from work I'm thinking hard about the hours I put into this wall-hanging, thinking I was going to 'kill this person with kindness' and give to her - but it seemed that God clearly said to me that I didn't need to give it to her as it was nothing more than a bribe (which it was) to be respectful. This person would not care about the wall-hanging, and except for pointing out mistakes to make herself look better, she is totally rude and disrespectful to me (and others). So, I felt that I should not give it away. I think I'll send it to Indiana for a gift for someone. Maybe they would appreciate it. Afterall, when FAMILY gives you something, you usually hang on to it or pass it on, right?
I am looking forward to Christmas. I love the gathering of my children and grandchildren. No one understands all of that - but someday they will. I want so much to make memories that when I am gone, my grandchildren will say... remember when Grandma always had us over to bake cookies for Christmas... and then when they start their own families, they will want to start that tradition for themselves. That is my greatest joy, being with those I love.
I reckon I've written enough here so will hush. Maybe I ought to put this on my calendar once a week at least so that I can remember to take some time to write. Surely I have a life, right? :-)
Blessings!

A Season of "Thankfulness....
Even as that title is typed out, I wonder why I wanted to write that. Of course I AM thankful for so many things. My health, my family, my loved ones. I'm even thankful for my job. I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving season when I am able to see my children and their families.
I am working from home today, and I am thankful that I can do that on occasion. Again, though, I think it drives hubby crazy that I'm home.... for whatever reason. He cooked breakfast this morning. He is now back in "office" doing whatever it is he does everyday. He will stay there most of the day - not sure if that is because I am home working - or if that is what he always does.
I did scheduled a mani/pedi for today at 11:30 - I do get a lunch hour, anyway. I just felt I needed some pampering - and I didn't offer to pay for anyone else so I get to go alone. Then I will come back and work some more.
Not too far behind on my Christmas making stuff. I should get a batch of bread in the oven and just might do that after I finish this. If I can get a batch in this morning, and another batch this afternoon, I should be pretty well set for the Christmas giveaway season. I need to finish up a wall-hanging or two, and a small quilt that I hope to give as a gift, but hopefully can get to it sometime this weekend. Problem is, I enjoy knitting too and trying to decide whether to sew or to knit can sometimes present a problem.
Found out recently two men that I work with have been diagnosed with a form a cancer. One is my former boss at another company, and another is a man I have recently come to know and respect from meetings I've had to work with him in. He actually asked me to pray for him yesterday. And I told him I would.
Yes, I believe in prayer. In spite of life issues, in spite of answers not coming the way I want them to, in spite of disappointments in my own life, I still believe in prayer. I believe that God is Sovereign, He is Almighty, and He is more than able to do what I ask Him to, but He sees the big picture and knows that if He answers all my prayers, it may not be the right answer. So I just ask, and sometimes beg and plead, but trust Him to answer in His own timing and His own way.
Enough said. Need to get to work. Maybe I can start writing something interesting again soon. Perhaps I will make that my 2019 goal - to try to write more often - and to make it interesting. Hmmmm may have to pray about that. :-)
Blessings to you on and yours on this Thanksgiving week. May you be reminded of all that you have to be thankful for.

It's been awhile....
since I've taken the time to write anything. I still write in my journal, but even that has been sporadic at best. Work is keeping me far more busy than I want to be. But, it is a good job. I just don't want to do this anymore. I'm tired of trying to schedule meetings for which there is no time to be had on the calendars. With one of my bosses shifting from one area to another, she still works with both sides and has both meetings on her calendar and wants more. There is no time available and although she understands that, I am expected to figure it out. And I'm tired of trying.
I was hoping to work from home tomorrow. One boss will be heading to Tucson; another boss will be heading over to Phoenix for the day - but my third boss is coming to Mesa from Tucson so I need to be here for her. I even confirmed with her - and yes, she is coming up. Ok then. Guess I won't be working from home!
Been pretty busy at home - not accomplishing all that I want to, of course, but getting some things done. Mainly knitting, which is the fun part. And sewing. Afterall, Christmas is next month and I have so much I need to get done. I have no idea what to get for anyone and here it is already nearly the middle of November. I will have to figure it out, for sure. And buy it. or make it. I did get some cranberry pumpkin nut bread made last Sunday and got it put in the freezer, so I've at least got a start on things.
Thanksgiving is in about two weeks. I'm looking forward to a couple days off work and getting some knitting done. I don't do 'black friday'. Nope. That's too crazy for me. I do most of my shopping online anymore. Just don't like being out in the crowds.
Having a lot of trouble with my new computer at home. I need to find time and just call Dell support - I've paid for it for two years so I need to just do it and have them go in and fix whatever the problems are. Yes, I don't know much - if anything - about computers - but I want my computer to work when I get on it. Last Saturday I was trying to type in Word - and every ten seconds or so it would go into a 'not responding' freeze mode. Really irritating. In Word no less! Have no idea what that problem is. Maybe I can call this Saturday. And don't get me started about the 'One Drive' issues - whatever that is! I did email Dell Support about that - and in checking my emails the other day I see they responded to me three times - but I don't usually check my emails that often so missed the contact. This time I guess I need to contact and wait by the computer/emails to see what they can do to fix my issues.
I'm thinking of just downloading all my photos on a disc and just leaving them there. It seems that they take up a lot of space on my computer. I really want to get them all printed - at least if they are on a disc, it can be done easier too. Need to clean off my phone too! Soooooo many photos. But I can't help it! When I see a photo of our little great-munchkin, I have to save it. Well, most of the time. I tell myself I have to stop saving them all.... after all, I'm sure her mama and grandma have all of them if I wanted any. :-)
I need to get back to work - how I wish I could retire!!!!!!!!
Blessings!

Working from home accomplishes much....
Well, it does, usually. This morning I was up at my usual time and did my quiet time. Got to stay in it a bit longer since I didn't have to rush to get dressed and out the door for a 45 minutes drive to the office. After getting dressed, I ended up cooking breakfast for hubby and I. He offered, but it takes me a lot less time to pull it together than it does him. So bacon and eggs and toast it was. We ate and he went off to his room for his quiet time and I moved over to the 'office area' to bring up my work computer.
I've gotten some things done this morning so everyone knows I am working. I have some videos I need to watch for approving time cards, but I can do that this afternoon. Right now I am ready and waiting on the time to pass by so that I can meet a couple friends (and board members) for lunch at Olive Garden. They are treating me - how cool is that! I got a phone call last week that my name was ratified to join the board and was unanimous!
It was really crazy one day last week.... somehow the person they wanted me to replace found out I had been asked to join the board.... and that person started calling this person, who called this person, who called this person.... The president and direct of the board text'd me and asked if I had told anyone at the ChariTea about being asked to join the board. No, I hadn't. In fact, I had sat with the person they were thinking of replacing, but I didn't know that it was her. On the way to church Wednesday night I mentioned to hubby that this had happened, and we were trying to figure out how she found out.... and he goes, uh....it may have been me. This friend (I was sitting with and they were going to replace) happened to go into the lobby while hubby was there, and after greeting him, must have said something about the board sponsoring the ChariTea.... and he mentioned that I had been sent paperwork to review and join the board. He was the culprit, for sure. I'm also sure it caught her off guard - but since we didn't know who it was replacing, she must have known she was on shaky ground. Her term is nearly up anyway - it's usually just for a year, unless asked to stay on.
I reckon I will find out today how that went in letting her go and adding me in. That feels awkward, as that person was my friend too. In fact, I know everyone on the board. Oh well - they had to have a reason in wanting to let her resign. I didn't seek this nomination, but was asked, and am honored to be added to the board. I'm not sure what the reason is they chose me, but hopefully will find out today.
And now that I have rambled on for a bit, I will hush and finish getting ready to leave for lunch. Hope your day is amazing.
Blessings!

What a busy, busy month!
It has been a busy month for sure!! And it seems to be ending on a busy note as well. I'm so tired! Part of that, though, is that I was challenged via fitbit for steps for this week - which ends tonight. I have pushed myself more than I usually do - and I'm not as young as I used to be. I like to think I am.... however..... my body tells me otherwise.
Work has been crazy busy this month - I keep being given more and more work with little taken away. Although one big meeting that I was helping out with Corporate on - I got told by their new admin that my help wasn't needed any longer so la di da. I am no longer involved in that one! That was usually a 3 hour meeting and she flubbed it up at her first one. So - if she doesn't want me to attend any longer - that is perfectly fine. I don't have to do the minutes either. Yay!
However, our Chief Operations Officer has now asked me to take on her meeting and do the minutes. Sigh. Minutes are NOT my favorite thing to do. I can do them and I do them well, but I don't enjoy doing them. Everyone likes them done differently and I would rather sit in the meeting and just listen to everything. I admit it. I am nosey and I enjoy hearing what is going on. :-)
I finally had to tell my one boss that I couldn't keep doing everything she was asking me to do. I don't report to her, but I do support her, which is why I get to do her work. Unfortunately, she has taken over my life here at work with things I do for her. She took my comments well, and advised me that things would now start slowing down and it wouldn't be so bad. Here's hoping.
I've been asked to serve on a board called Destiny of Hope. One of my bestest friends is on that board. It's interesting how it came about. I was at the women's retreat last weekend and another friend (whom I didn't know was on the board) asked me if I was an intercessor. I said, well, I do pray.....so she asked me to pray for that board. Well, by the end of that session, she asked me if I would pray about coming on the board. I felt awkward because if she was a board member, it shouldn't come from her, but from ?? I don't know. Anyway, I called my bestest friend and talked with her about it yesterday. I told her that I was going to decline the invitation for a few reasons. One, if my friend wanted me on the board (and I thought this was HER board), I would hope she would ask me. Also, there are already 7 women on that board, and 7 is the complete number, so they didn't need 8. AND, I don't need to be on the board to offer to help when they do something. Then my friend says, let me give you the backstory.
And she did. The other friend is the President of the board so she was perfectly in line with asking me. In fact, during that session last weekend, the two of them were actively texting each other that I should be asked to join the board. I had no idea. As for the number 7, one of the members is getting ready to come off the board and they will need another to take her place so it will remain at 7. Ok then. All my arguments fell by the wayside. I told her that I would still need to think about it, but I would probably accept. I'll let her know this weekend.
This weekend. There is a ChariTea that Destiny of Hope is sponsoring for Choices Pregnancy Center. I volunteered to make chicken salad sandwiches. Thinking there would be 25-35 people. I should inquire more before I volunteer. They are hoping for 200 people. Yes, I said 200 people. I have stuck to my offer. However, instead of making it like was my original plan, I have placed an order with Costco for 35 pounds of chicken salad. Enough to feed at least 150 people.
Then when I talked with my friend yesterday, she is hoping for more than 10. I'm sure there will be, but visions of chicken salad for several days has come to my mind. I'll give some away if it comes to that. But, with a former anchor of TV news going to be the speaker, I'm sure there will be more people than 10. Everyone is to bring an unwrapped baby gift. I'm not taking anything because the chicken salad cost me a lot more than I had planned to spend. It's all tax deductible, so that's ok, but still, more than I had planned.
I also started teaching The Circle Maker on Wednesday nights at church this week. And starting the first Sunday in November we start preaching again, so I need to work on that in October. My life is going to be pretty busy for the next few months, for sure! Add work in to that schedule and whew! I'm tired thinking about it!!
Gotta get to work - just realized it had been awhile since I had written anything. This is my life in a nutshell - at least for this moment in time.
Blessings!

Blessings!

I didn't go this morning.....
I awoke early this morning, something just didn't feel right. I felt sorta icky, but yet, not icky. Does that make sense? I have alternated between hot and sweaty to cool and clammy the past couple hours. Hubby decided - after I was completed dressed for church and ready to go - that I probably shouldn't go. I didn't argue. I am weak and yet, I'm ok.
So, I changed clothes from church to casual and managed to get a roast on for dinner tonight. I took the trash out as it was overflowing. I have now sat down here just to write a bit and then I think I will go lay down. Or maybe read. Or knit.
I wanted to watch preaching on TV this morning but no one was on that I wanted to watch. Maybe I'll watch Pastor Steve as his church should be online soon. I can watch him from my ipad.
My new computer says the one drive is full. I don't even know what that is - but it is giving me fits. I suppose I should call Dell online as I have their services included in my purchase... but today, I just don't feel like it. I couldn't even get google chrome or the one with the 'e' to come up. I know so little about computers - and care even less about them.
I was reading in The Circle Maker this morning about finding my 'Jericho'. I paused and thought about it and wondered 'what is my dream - my Jericho'. All I can think of is how much I wish I could retire. Part of me is angry that I cannot any time soon. How do I get past that? Perhaps I am just really tired right now, and the fact I'm not feeling good this morning.
For me to miss church, well, you know I'm not feeling real good. But, this too shall pass. I know the class will be praying for me to get better, and I know I will. I'm enjoying the quiet of the morning now. Only the click of my keyboard and the clock is all I hear. Oh, and the air conditioner going.
Hope your morning is going well.
Blessings.

The story begins when I walked out of the office....
and across the parking lot to my van. I notice a 2 ft. x 2 ft. (approximate) area under the right front of the van. It is wet. I squat down to touch it - and it is sorta oily. I look under the van and I see a drip. And another.
I started to pray - 'just get me home, Lord'! and all the way as I drove, I was watching for lights to come on or something to happen, still praying to just get back to my part of town.
And He answered. I was able to pick up hubby on the way and we went straight to the repair place. They put it up on a rack and then ask me to come to the repair section because they wanted me to 'see this'. Oh my word. From the radiator there was almost a constant stream of liquid flowing, and in three or more other places, there were occasional drips happening. There is no way I could have driven much further with the fluid flowing out of the radiator. Thank you, Father, for answering my prayer to get me back home.
But then, I had another dilemma. I needed to get to work the next day because I hadn't brought my work computer home. I did some texting. My granddaughter offered to loan me her car for the day - but I don't like driving other people's vehicles. But it was an option. It finally worked out that my daughter took me to work, and my oldest son brought me back home. The good part of that is I got to leave work early. I should have gotten back on the computer (I brought my computer home with me), but I just was exhausted and didn't.
So I waited, and eventually I received the call that the van was ready. The radiator had a crack across the bottom of it and had to be replaced. Since the spark plugs and wires had never been replaced - 2004 van; 150,000+ miles - it was decided they really needed to be replaced. There were a couple other repairs that were needed - and the final bill came up to $1123. I asked the question of the mechanics - should I not invest all this money in repairs but do what is necessary and just trade it in? I really did not want a car payment. Their response was 1) any repair beats a car payment, and 2) most of the big repairs we have already done on the van and they did a complete inspection on it. Only a couple minor things that still need to be completed, but they can wait for a few months. It would be wiser to keep the van as it is in excellent shape. So I will be keeping the van - and that's ok.
I enjoyed so much the ride home with my son. I rarely see him - or talk with him - so it was good to just catch up with him. It was also his birthday so I was able to give him is birthday 'present' on his birthday. That was cool. He went on to start his celebrating his birthday after he dropped me off at home.
Today I am working from home. I got hit with a bunch of emails as soon as I brought the computer up. So much to do. I have to find a way I can retire soon. I just have to. I'm not enjoying where I am right now - the people are great - but the work is a lot more than I have ever been involved in. Things I do not know that they expect me to know. It is a real struggle. It is what it is and I'm mentally thinking how I can get out of debt and live off social security. It would be difficult, but it can be done. People do it with a lot less than what I make. I've got to, for this job is going to kill me if I don't.
And enough of that - need to get back to work - just took a quick break. Hope your day is amazing.
Blessings!

Finally, a holiday, and off work!
I had hoped to sleep in this morning, but my body knew it was a Monday so sure enough, 4AM my body was awake. I did my walk down the hall and went back to bed, with hopes of falling asleep again, but alas, that did not happen so eventually got up and went to the back of the house to do some reading and my quiet time. It was nice and quiet for awhile.
After I came out I fixed breakfast, then got pork in one crockpot for shredded pork, and chicken in another crockpot cooking to make shredded chicken. I'm trying to follow the Whole 30 Plan for 30 days. It's NOT a diet (thank goodness), but eating food non-processed and no sugar. Trying to clean my body out and gain some energy and clear-mindedness. Lord knows I'm not the only one who needs that! :-)
My daughter and granddaughter have begun it as well. I wanted to start it LAST September, but no one wanted to participate. This year my granddaughter wanted us to do it together. I told her I didn't know how 'faithful' I would be to it, but will give it a try. I was ready to do it last year and they bailed on me so I lost interest. This year we went to the grocery together and bought enough supplies for 3 recipes (except for what I forgot to write down, for which I did another grocery run) and we split the cost. There should be enough from the pork and chicken to last us 2-4 days - depending on what we eat and how much. What is going to be interesting is the sweet potato buns. The other two have already made these and said they were awesome. I'll be making them this afternoon - and we'll have our first taste of them (with the pork or chicken (bbq)) and made into sandwiches.
I have been so overwhelmed at work and am so mentally tired that I have really been wishing I could retire. I'm going to focus on 'my' bills and get them paid off and then hopefully can consider it next year. I had told hubby next year and I thought he was going to get whiplash.
Then again, I don't know that I could stand being at home and not able to do anything. I'm not a real traveler, like some retirees are. But it would be nice to have the freedom to do some things. But, because of certain conditions, if I ever retire, I don't know how it would turn out. I can only do things now because I am still working.
Work has kept me extremely busy which is one reason why I haven't been typing anything on here. I am overwhelmed with work and I don't know what to do. One boss that I support is heading up a new department within the company to which the others will merge in to -- and all these meets and schedules -- I am so out of my league and overwhelmed. Some days I just want to cry because I can't move schedules of other people and yet I have to make these meetings. And I support two other bosses. I've been pulled into more meetings than I want to be pulled in to; have to create minutes for meetings I don't want to be in, and I'm just so very tired of the 26 mile one way drive five days a week. It is very wearing and when I get home, I don't have much desire to do anything.
Ok - enough whining. I'm done. Life is good. I get a paycheck which pays our bills. I'm healthy. Hubby is healthy. Now that I'm home today he is busy doing things. LOL I want to get some things done so need to get off here. I had to jump on the company computer today to get some emails sent out. One of my bosses sent me an email 'isn't today a holiday'? I responded 'yes, so stay off your computer and phone!" I'm not staying on here - but saw all the emails she had already sent me from Saturday. Sigh.
Hope you are doing well. Life is good.
Blessings.

It's been relaxing, thus far....
I have taken a week's vacation this week. Yes, an entire 5 days of non-work in between two weekends. It has been relaxing, and I have enjoyed the extra couple hours of sleep (arise 6AM versus 4AM) each day. That has probably helped immensely.
I had a birthday just prior to us taking the time off. In fact, last week was extremely busy... did I write about it?.... I don't remember. If not, then it will do for another post. My birthday was nice. Got a few giftcards for Amazon (and I just can't make a decision on what to buy - but I will!) and one for Crackerbarrel. I refused to use it for our lunch or dinner we ate there - so look through the gift shop - but just haven't made that decision yet on what I want to get so still have the gift card. :-) I also received a Pioneer Woman cookbook from a coworker that I am dearly loving! In fact, today I made a bean soup in the crockpot and is it ever good! Very yummy. Not everyone would enjoy it, but I sure do! Very simply made and in the crockpot on high for 5 hours - and it is so very good. And pinto beans are good for you!
Had a wonderful, relaxing time up in Prescott the past few days. We came back home yesterday. I took my van to get the air checked in the tires this morning, brought the driver's window down to chat with them... and it wouldn't go back up. sigh. It had happened another time and we got it to come back up. I did get it up half-way, but decided since I was already at the service place, if they had time, they may as well look at it - especially since we plan to drive my van to Tucson tomorrow to see our granddaughter (and grand-son-in-law) and our great granddaughter!
Yes, I know my middle child went to you-tube and figured out how to fix the window and get it back on track. However, it is too short of notice to ask him to look at it, and I need it done today. So - am waiting to hear back on the cost... roughly $300 if it is the regulator. I tried to tell them it was the switch - but what do I know. I'm hoping it won't be that much.... that sure cuts into my savings.
But, we are still going to Tucson tomorrow about noon-ish and will come back on Saturday. Have a hotel in Tucson to stay at but plan to spend a few hours with our princess at her house on Friday and a quick visit on Saturday before we head back. Hubby just can't handle unexpected things and is fearful of a dust storm. sigh. We will be on the road by noon, if it is his way.
But it has been a nice week away from work. I think I would go crazy if I didn't have my job to go to starting next week. I've had a relaxing time, enjoyed being up in cooler weather, and doing a lot of knitting, but, I could easily get bored. Today all I've done - other than the car - is cook. :-) Which is a good thing. That bean soup is really good - as is the chicken noodle soup I made as well! I found a BBQ rib recipe that I am anxious to try too. I like to make things and invite people over or give away - I know my boys would love the extra ribs so when I try the recipe, I'll have to let them know.
Today is my little sister's birthday. 63 this year. Yipes - when did she get so old? LOL Of course at 69 I don't consider myself old at all. I'm grateful for every year I have.
One of the pastors at our new church has asked me to teach on Wednesday nights. That is a switch. Where we had been attending, I couldn't get the pastor to LET me teach - unless I taught only what he wanted. We never could agree. I love our new church. There is a lot of love and a lot of worship in our church. The messages are Bible-based and not filtered down to make the congregation feel good about themselves. Hubby isn't happy I was asked and not him.... hopefully it won't create problems as in the past. Another reason why I quit teaching. I don't compare numbers or ability.
And now I'm starting to ramble so will sign off. I need to go knit or something.
Blessings!

Exhausted, but looking ahead....
I am exhausted. Not that I have done anything really stringent or exercise worthy, but I am so tired. Could it be the thought of turning 69 in a couple days? Naw, age doesn't really get to me. But I must admit that I have thought more often of how my mother, at my age, didn't do anything like run a marathon or do any walking, etc.
I started this posting yesterday after my lst annual lunch party here at work. Yeah, I have started those back up again. It was a great success, but I was so tired by the time I left to go home. Then my daughter and granddaughter took me out for my birthday. Unfortunately, I wasn't that hungry, but did enjoy one of my favorite Mexican meals from Don Rubens. My gallbladder has decided to start acting up again.... which brought back memories....
9 years ago last night (on a special grandson's birthday)a surprise 60th birthday party was thrown for me. I had had a lunch party at a former company that day. On a Friday, though. Late that afternoon my stomach (I thought) started hurting - until my entire chest was hurting. I didn't know but that I was having a heart attack, it hurt so badly. I remember praying that I would just get home, taking deep breaths all the way. On the way home, my daughter had called to see if we could meet them for dinner. Even though I was in severe pain, I said yes, we would.
When I got home that day, I told hubby I just wanted to lay down for a little while before heading out to dinner. He wanted me to change clothes, but I refused, stating my jeans and t-shirt would just have to do. I was still in a lot of pain, but we went to the dinner. ONLY to find it was a surprise birthday party for me! And I hadn't changed clothes. sigh. I should learn from that experience.
Anyway, I had an ultrasound after that episode and discovered I did have gallstones. I was told that if it bothered me again, to just go to the hospital and tell them and have them take it out. It has hurt off and on over the years, but never like it did that first time. I've awakened in the middle of the night nauseated, but shrug it off. Last night was close to the first time, but after I got home from dinner I went to bed and prayed myself to sleep. I don't have any pain this morning so guess that episode is past.
I was still tired when I woke this morning but am looking forward to next week when I am on vacation all week. Running up to Prescott for a few days. Want to check with out granddaughter in Tucson to see if she is going to be home that weekend.... thinking of doing a day trip to see her and our great-granddaughter if they are not driving up. Need to touch base with her yet.
And I need to get to work. So much to get done before I take time off!
Blessings!

Blessings!

Ugh. I'm bored. I don't want to be here!
It's really quiet here today at work. My one boss is working from home as it is their anniversary. Another boss is in Tucson today, and my third boss is always in Tucson. I came up with a headache and got a bigger one when I arrived at work. Seems - without proper notification - specific websites that I use got transported to a new location. I have to send out several links on the first day of the month - and yesterday I worked on my letters and had the links attached. This morning I decided to verify I attached the right link when it sent me to a blank site which said that my SharePoint site had been moved to a new location. YIPES!
I had to search, but I finally found where they had put it - and I do NOT like the new format at all. The person who had created our last SharePoint site received an email from me early this morning telling him what had happened. He had just gotten me trained on the SharePoint site he had created. He was NOT happy.... he was in the middle of making changes to the SharePoint site for the month of August when he said his screen disappeared and he couldn't find where it went. He says he did not get any notification they were moving it. Now this guy was a professor, so I'm pretty sure he stays on top of things. If he didn't expect it to get moved to another site, I'd say he didn't get notified for he would have made sure it was fixed right.
And this new SharePoint site is NOT fixed real well. It's as though an amateur who thought they knew something about SharePoint sites created it. It has things on it that I can't move so it blocks things I need to get to. It's going to be very frustrating to figure this all out. And I don't have much time to figure it out! Rick is working on it today - and will be up early next week, probably, to show me what he has figured out to make it easier for me. It's frustrating because I just learned how to use the SharePoint site he had created for this report. Now I have to learn all over again - and I don't want to!
I wonder if my Tucson boss realizes that her SharePoint sites have been moved as well. She is NOT going to be happy about that either because it changes how they look. Ohhhh she is NOT going to be happy at all!
All of my bosses will be in Tucson tomorrow so it will be another long day. Oh, I have work to do, but I don't want to do it. If I could get rid of the headache, I probably could do better at it. But for now, am only doing what I have to do.
But, I do need to get something done... and I have nothing to write about. Just thought I'd add a couple lines. Vacation in about 10 days - I can't wait. A whole week off work!
Blessings!

Reminded....
My middle child reminded me over the weekend that I had not posted since July 6th. And he is right. Sorta. I DID create a post one day.... but after leaving it up on the blog for a day, I decided I needed to withdraw it, so I threw it back into draft format. What I said was true, but I was angry, so no one else needs to read about it. We ALL know the source of my anger and frustration.
We had a great weekend. A son and his wife of my very bestest friend came out to Arizona. I was "allowed" to invite all the kids and grandchildren over to swim and cookout. All in all, it was a good day. In spite of the first batch of burgers being burnt to a crisp. Hubby was sure he had it on low and it was the grease from the hamburgers that was causing the flare-up .... but, it was reported to me by someone who does know how to grill, that he had the fire up too high. Heaven help the person who tells him that - cause it ain't gonna be me.
We still fight over that grill. It is MY grill, and I told him it was MY grill when I bought it. Yep, I bought it, I picked it out, I paid for it. He was miff'd, of course, but since I have bought him two grills over the years and he lets them set out and rust, I was not going to buy him another one. He hates to grill. So why in the world does he fuss at me so much because I want to grill. Sigh. I need to make him let me grill ... it's just something else we fight about that I choose my battles. He doesn't grill well, he burns everything. If I want it burnt, then let me burn it!
All in all, Saturday was a good day. And I'm glad. I told him that if he didn't "allow" me to entertain the people I want to entertain, never ask me to entertain HIS (and mine) friends cause the answer is no. I love having my children and grandchildren over - and they are my priority. Friends are down the row.
Ok - it's time to clock out and go home now - took all day to get here! I'm beat! At least I have something written now!
Blessings!

How many Mondays are there in one week?
With July 4th being on Wednesday this year, when we came back to work on Thursday, it seemed like Monday again. Unfortunately, today, even though really Friday, is also a Monday. Maybe I'm just in a 'don't wanna do it' mood. Or I'm overwhelmed. Or it could be a bit of both. But, that's my job, and I have to do it.
With one of my bosses getting this big promotion my work load has increased immensely. I tell myself to just take it one day at a time. That's all I can do. Each day brings me more and more work, and trying to schedule meetings is next to impossible most days. I love it when an outside group will email me that they need two different times with one of my bosses - so I look and find it - and send back to them. Sigh. They just sent me back a note that "9am on 7/11 is perfect for Lisa". So what does that mean? I'm not the one asking for the meeting. Does she expect ME to schedule the meeting for HER? Sigh. I'm going to leave it sit for awhile. I just don't want to deal with it right now.
I went to the chiropractor last night. Hadn't been in probably 18-20 years, but I've had this tingling in my upper back for awhile. My doctor keeps telling me "it's arthritis" although they have not done any checking on it. So the chiropractor started popping my spine all up and down, I tell you what I sure felt good after she got done. The tightness in my back was gone. Right now it is starting to tingle, but I'm guess my posture, sitting in front of the computer' has been slouchy. They also put me on a hot pad and did stimulation on my neck and upper back for about 15 minutes. I really enjoyed that. I go back next Thursday. I'm hoping my insurance will pick up most of this. I mentioned my two sisters have arthritis - and her comment to me was to keep moving because if you have it and don't keep moving, it will make you miserable. I refuse to allow something to slow me down! Some ONE does, but it isn't ME. I wouldn't mind going back every month to get popped if it makes me feel better.
Decided to keep my desktop rather than trying to sell it. But, I'm getting rid of a laptop that I don't use. I went through it last night and deleted several folders. My middle child is going to help me transfer data from it to my desktop so that I don't lose anything. I did send myself emails last night, but the laptop is a bit slow when I'm loading it down with attachments. It never was real fast, but it was always much faster than hubby's. 'nuff said.
Two of the grandsons are in town from ShowLow. I haven't gotten to see them yet; maybe this weekend we can get over there. I do have my 'needles of hope' knitting group on Saturday morning and my middle child coming over Saturday afternoon. Maybe Saturday evening we can take a run over. It will be good to see them.
Don't know any news and I need to get back to work. Just needed to take a break from reports. Some parts of my job just aren't things I enjoy doing - but it's part of the job and I gotta do it. It's not that it's so bad...
Hope you had a great 4th and your Thursday and Friday wasn't a Monday all over! Best part is I got to wear jeans both days. :-)
Blessings!

Best part of today....
July 4th is a day off work for me and for many others. But, just as many are called to work. My daughter-in-law for one. The medical field makes it hard to get holidays off in their entirety because if we are in a hospital or in rehab, we still need our food, our baths, our rehab. Could you just imagine if everyone in the medical field got the day off, what would they come back to the next day?! I am thankful for each one who has to work today. Then there are grocery stores, gas stations, and other things that we take for granted because they are always there.
But today. I'm grateful to live in the United States where I have the freedom I do have. So, today we celebrate as well. My daughter contacted us last night and invited us over for BBQ and swim. Going over around 11AM and plan to leave around 3-ish, if possible. After eating and swimming - and neither of those for very long with our hot weather! - I'm ready to pack up and leave. Then there is a possibility that my middle child and some of his family will be able to come over to swim in our pool and we'll figure out dinner.
My youngest son came back from Army duty in Wisconsin last Monday night. Yesterday his two boys were brought down from ShowLow to spend the month here. He sent me a couple photos of them. They are so tall!! And skinny! He and his family are going to his wife's sister's house for lunch and swim. I would not be surprised if he shows up at his sister's house later! I think his wife is mad at me.... and she can play the victim if she wants... ;-x
What is the best part of today, besides being off work? I get to be with some of my children and grandchildren. This is what I miss the most and makes me so sad. I told hubby I want to start having at least one family a month over for dinner. He finally agreed. He will have to share me. That's the part he doesn't like. A whole nother story.
I decided last night this desk is being moved out of my room. The only chair in here is the desk chair, and if I sit in it an hour or so, it becomes uncomfortable. I want the recliner I have in the alcove in here. Maybe this weekend we will get it moved back. I'd like to sell my new desktop.... I really don't know why I bought it - other than I bought hubby one and figured daggone it, I deserve one too! Actually, I may use it more this fall when I need to type out messages for the RV park churches. But I still have my laptop too. During the week, and most times, I use my ipad for paying bills and everything else. I'm rarely on the desktop - or laptop - anymore for that matter.
Well, I need to get out of this room and get dressed, and figure out what I'm taking for today. and what I need for later. Hope that you have a happy 4th of July!
Blessings!

We're on Mission!
We had an awesome service this morning. I feel this is one of the top sermons I've heard for awhile. Our pastor doesn't make you feel bored as a rule, anyway, but this one - wow. Three things - or was it four - that he touched on. But, just a bit of background....
Our church - rather 11 of the people including our pastor and his family, are leaving next weekend for Jamaica to do a VBS (vacation Bible school) there and to help some of the people there. It's been amazing preparing for it. Everyone has chipped in and bought supplies for them to take and serve the people there. I wish I could go. Maybe, someday. They were to have gone to St. Thomas, but something happened that they were unable to go there, so changed it to Jamaica.
Since we are coming off a week of prayer and fasting, Pastor Paul shared things about fasting. Some I hadn't really thought about - at least not for awhile. Then he went on in to his message.
For one thing, Fasting helps our Spiritual disciplines so the enemy can't tap us and we fall over. One of those Spiritual Disciplines is Forgiveness. He read through Colossians 3:12-21 and really went over 'Forgive as God forgave you'. I don't know who else that affects, but I know I have some unforgiveness I have found hard to let go of. Yeah, I'm being vulnerable here.
To be like Jesus Christ, inside and out, we have to know that we are chosen by God, and put on Compassion. We are to strengthen each other in Christ. When you don't feel like you are being the person you think you should be, Christ says you are, because I am. Wow. Powerful message there.
Gratitude changes attitude. Do everything with gratitude because it covers everything. Christ lives in us and through us and our gratitude in that alone, should live out in our lives.
Examination..... do I fail? Yes, I'm afraid I do. I do more whining and complaining - albeit internally most times - than not. Goal.... to live with gratitude in all things, to be like Jesus.
What's your goal?
Blessings!

It feels awkward...
not having to rush around this morning and get ready for work. Yes, I took the day off because I have a doctor's appointment this morning. Not sure what I am seeing him for; I think it is to discuss the results of my tests three months ago.... I've moved the appointment a couple times, I think. Those tests are 'old' and he will probably want to do them all over again! Oh well. I wish he could heal broken hearts as easily as broken bodies.
But I do know who CAN heal a broken heart, and that is Jesus. He loves me no matter what the world thinks or what goes on in my life. He loves me. Bottom line. No if, ands, or buts. He loves me. And I can 'take that to the bank'. Which He owns, by the way.
I slept a little longer this morning, stayed in my room longer, and just being lazy as I get my day started. I don't need to leave for another hour, but guess I should start getting ready.
I did a Life Line Screening last month. It was quick and easy - and they send you the test results within 3 weeks unless there is something critical, and they tell you that day. I didn't get told anything so nothing was critical, but I'm disappointed I haven't received my information yet. I had hoped to take to the doctor with me today. I started to email Life Line Screening and ask them where my information is, then I looked to see when I had actually gone to have it done. May 30th. Today is June 21. I guess I can cut them a little slack. Yes, it is a couple days past the 'within 3 weeks' statement, but anything could happen. If I don't hear within another week, then I will contact them. I double-checked my emails this morning in case it was emailed - but it was not.
This is my second visit to this new doctor. I hope we can build a good relationship - albeit only seeing him once every few months - if that. I was seeing my 'old' doctor most years only one time a year. Then he decided I needed to come in more often - not that I was having any problems. He's getting ready to retire so maybe he needed more money cause there was nothing wrong with me.
I'm doing better today, in spite of my hubby having 'his' talk with me last night. I felt pretty beaten up and bruised by the time he got done. Am I really so bad? I cannot dwell on it. I must do what I think is the right thing to do. Yes, I probably do need to watch my expressions of rolling my eyes and as it was put to me 'dirty looks' when I disagree. sigh. Life is hard.
But I'm grateful God is my Lord and I can run to Him day and night to help me. Father, please cover me with Your Grace, that You give so freely. I need Grace today, Lord. Help me walk in the path You have for me, and not make my own path. I love you, Lord.
Blessings!

There is no limit....
Last night I was told something that broke my heart. I was told that the grandchildren didn't like to be around me and hubby because we bicker and it makes them uncomfortable. I didn't know what to say. I had no defense. I went into my dark place where I try to hide. And that is where I have been all night, awakening this morning to the very same thought. Not only was I a bad mother, but now I'm a bad grandmother. Perhaps not the exact words used, but the words heard.
The grandchildren. ALL of my grandchildren bring me such joy. I always said they kept me young. As they all have gotten older and are more busy, I don't see them that often. None of them. So this comment really surprised me, and cut me deeply. Interestingly it is on the cusp of one of the grandsons asking if he could spend some time with me this week while he is in town.
Yet, in my reading this morning, I read these words in a book........
God asks Moses a question. It's more than a question, it's the question. Your answer to this question, the question, will determine the size of your prayer circles.
"Is there a limit to my power?"
The obvious answer to that question is no. God is omnipotent, which means by definition, there is nothing God cannot do. Yet many of us pray as if our problems are bigger than God...…. God is infinitely bigger than your biggest problem or your biggest dream. His grace is infinitely bigger than your biggest sin.
Are your problems bigger than God, or is God bigger than your problems? Our biggest problem is our small view of God. That is the cause of all lesser evils. And it's a high view of God that is the solution to all other problems.
"Is there a limit to my power?"
Have you answered the question? There are only two options: yes or no. Until you come to the conviction that God's grace and power know no limits, you will draw small prayer circles. Once you embrace the omnipotence of God, you'll draw ever-enlarging circles around your God-given, God-sized dreams.
How big is your God? Is He big enough to heal your marriage or heal your child? Is He bigger than a positive MRI or a negative evaluation? Is He bigger than your secret sin or secret dream?
My answer? My God IS big enough. He will heal my hurt. He will make me more conscious of what I say - not only around the grandchildren, but even when they are not here. He will heal my broken heart. I am so grateful I believe that, that I can trust in Him even when I don't see Him working in me.
Is your God big enough for what troubles you?
Blessings!

Today..... is what you make of it...
Sounds like a simple enough phrase, doesn't it? Today.... is what you make of it.. As I sit here and ponder that thought, my day is full ahead of me. Yes, it will be a busy one. When I leave this room I will be fixing breakfast for hubby and me. Then we will get ready and head to church this morning.
We really enjoy our church. I love that the worship can go on for awhile - what I mean is that it isn't 3 songs and we're done, cause we are on a schedule. Yes, our worship can sometimes go on for an hour, but it is led by the Holy Spirit. You can just feel God's presence at times - and at times I even look around to see if I see signs of angels in the room, it is that intense.
The messages are good too, and right now it is on the Holy Spirit. The more I think I understand Who the Holy Spirit is, the more I learn that I don't have a clue. Yes, I know that He is part of the Trinity - God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Comforter whom Jesus said would come after He was crucified. But it is good to always learn more.
After church I am hoping I will be motivated to get some things done! Still have boxes to go through and get rid of lots of papers. Tonight we will have what is called "Encounter" at church - which is nothing but worship - no preaching. It goes for an hour and a half and we do plan to attend. Our church is small, which makes it nice and we are getting to know everyone.
Yesterday was an interesting day. We went to a place called "Feed my starving children" with a group from our church. We bagged 'food' to be sent to El Salvador. In this bag is a small scoop of vitamins (powder form), a small scoop of dehydrated vegetables, a cup of soy, and a cup of rice. Then the bag is weighed and sealed and packed. They say that one bag can feed six children. Amazing! I believe they put 16 bags in a box - and we alone (out of about 10 teams) boxed around 24 boxes. Others did more, some did less. All within about 1 and 1/2 hours. We then clean up our table and the next group comes in. It was an amazing experience. I'm hoping to get some of the grandchildren to go next time.
I need to get off here and get breakfast done, hit the shower and get ready for church. I was reading in "The Circle Maker" again this morning about how we need to have a dream. My dreams died a long time ago, I think. I need to learn to dream again. I have let words and actions destroy my heart and I must rise about it and dream again.
Do you need to dream again? Join me on this journey. Let's dream together of what our heart desires.
Blessings!

A few thoughts..... Part 2
Continuing from the topic of yesterday....
Life is not a popularity contest. Leadership is definitely NOT a popularity contest. You will disappoint others. That's not easy for many. Develop your courage to do what is right, even when it's hard, even when it's unpopular. This path leads to something more meaningful than popularity - respect.
Be a little more kind than you believe necessary. It may sound strange, but discover the healing power of kindness. It costs nothing. No committees are involved. No capital required. Just a decision to be a little more kind. It just may open doors. It may be just "what the Doctor ordered for a specific person at that moment". It may be what people remember you for. It will create more of the environment we all wish to work and live in.
Remember your families. I suspect each of you has high expectations for yourself. I've not yet met a person that got "here" on their own. Work is important but don't take your primary relationships for granted. They may not be there for you when your time is perfect.
Turn around and give a hand to someone. Medicine started as a craft industry. One person taught the next person who taught the next person. The opportunity, and I might say obligation, to bring others along is still a potent ambition. Others helped you. Turn around.
Tell others what you see in them while they are present to hear it and be motivated by it. A mother who lost a daughter once said something that has not been forgotten. "I hope my daughter knew she meant this much to others when she was alive." Don't miss an opportunity. I've yet to meet a person that has said, "no thank you, I've had enough appreciation or recognition". It costs nothing. We can get better at it and there's a decent chance it will lift another person at precisely a time they need it.
It's a big company and there's a lot going on. Remember this when you feel left out or missing critical information. It is almost assuredly not intentional. Assume positive intent. It's just easier that way.
Have zero tolerance for non-compliance for the most important things. Define for yourself what those most important things are. For me, it is treating others with respect, employee safety, a healthy work environment, advocating with integrity, and the experience of those around me. Do a check and make sure your actions are matching your intent.
Don't connect dots that don't belong connected. Boy, this is a tough one. It is so easy to fill in the story, and often, not so positively. I assume that we are each doing the best we know (if we knew how to do better, we'd likely do it), have some faith that others have made a reasonable decision. Not everything (in fact, most things) should be personalized. Those of us who are more sensitive will require a bit more practice on this one!
Leaders are always on stage. We teach others what we expect by what we say and what we don't say, what we ignore and what we take on, what we spend our time on and what we don't give time to, what we invest in and what we don't. As leaders, we are always being watched for these clues. It is healthy to do a check-in to see if you are teaching what you want more of. If you're really brave, ask your team what they think is important to you. That mirror, though sometimes painful, is a wonderful leadership development tool.
Put failure in perspective. Serious failures require very intentional and specific interventions. Thankfully, most of the time, that is not the case. We can breathe and talk honestly about the occurrences, the outcomes, and ways to mitigate in the future. Don't forget to check on the individual that is carrying the failure. Your words of encouragement may just well mean the difference between throwing in the towel or getting back on the horse.
Laugh. This is a serious business but we are creative, sometimes crazy, inconsistent human beings. That in and of itself is the source of fabulous comedy. Find humor in yourself and let it lighten the team.
Be Grateful. Life is often hard. Each day make the decision to begin it with a grateful heart. If you have to think of what to be grateful for, and can think of nothing, be grateful for breath. Your spouse, your children, your grandchildren. Things you learned while growing up. Memories you have of special people in your life. Be grateful and share what you have with others. You will never regret sharing who you are.
Be Brave, Be Kind, Be Awesome!!
Blessings!

A few thoughts.... Part 1
Last week someone who is retiring from my company sent an email to all the employees - and this email really impressed me. She said that many people had asked her about highlights of her 39 year career, and also about any regrets, and about 'pearls of wisdom'. The brave ones asked about mistakes she had made. Then she pauses, and said if you are no interested in her comments, thank you for being a part of this great organization. However, if you are interested, read on. I read on.
I'm going to quote her here: In the muck and mire of everyday life, we don't always take the opportunity to pause and realize how noble our work is and the impact we have on people at their most vulnerable and often scary time. ....... For those that are still with me, I'll leave you with a few words that I hope will encourage your soul. (here I am changing a few words, and adding others.)
Raise your hand. Be willing to take on an assignment that you aren't convinced you're prepared to do..... Not being the smartest person with the most content knowledge in the room is not a bad thing. Learn early to assemble teams of people around you that have what you don't.
Own your own career. No one will care about it as much as you will. People are willing to help you achieve your goals but I've yet to meet a mind reader. Be courageous and ask for help. Find someone you admire and do things (1) tell them why you admire them (assume that nobody ever gets enough acknowledgement) and (2) ask them to tell you their story. Find someone in a role that intrigues you. Ask them for feedback about your preparation for the role. I'm confident you won't be disappointed. People want to help.
Do a great job in the role you are in right now. Don't worry too much about the next title you desire. I believe there's a very good chance that the job you may one day have doesn't even exist today. Deliver results. Become invaluable through your performance and leadership. Perfect your ability to tell your own story. If this doesn't come easy, ask somebody that has this gift.
Practice vulnerability. It's not fun to work for a perfect person. Perfect people don't need the input of others. Admit when you've made a mistake. Call a spade a spade. Ask for forgiveness and move on. Not only is this a big load off you, you will teach others that it is ok to not be perfect. Transparency is a gift we can give to those around us. Everybody then leans in to bring their imperfect selves to the table.
Lead from whatever chair you hold. Many of us long to sit in a certain chair, with a certain title, maybe even on a certain floor. Consider the possibility of building your leadership effectiveness wherever you sit today. It will be noticed. People will want to follow you and your journey will unfold as desired. Being patient with yourself is not in conflict with being ambitious.
That is all I'm sharing today - and will finish it up tomorrow. Good stuff, huh. It made me sit back and think as I began to read through these. I hope you also will begin to think of your value and where you want to go in life.
Blessings!

He still hears me ....
Last night when I came home from work I parked on the concrete part of the driveway. When hubby and I came out a little later to go out to eat, there was a puddle under my van. As we had been told a few times by our car repair place that I have an oil leak, that was our first thought. The puddle was about 12" wide and although I DID think it could possibly be fluid from the air conditioner (yeah, at 100 degrees, I am running the air conditioner!) when hubby knelt down and put his finger on the fluid, he was sure it was oil. Plus the engine is running a little rough so could it possibly be my oil had leaked out the past two weeks since I had the oil change? I had been checking at work and nothing had been left on the concrete.
This morning we made plans to drive down to the car repair place and just leave the van until they could get to it, whether today or Monday. Made arrangements to borrow my granddaughter's car should I need it on Monday. So we drive down and I went in and told them what happened and asked if they could just check the oil level. If it was low, or really low, then that would tell me that it really was leaking bad. They had me drive around back where it was checked. The mechanic said that it was a little low, but it wasn't any big deal. When I described that this morning when we went out to the car the puddle had evaporated, they assured me/us that it wasn't oil that had leaked out, but the air conditioner drainage from running the air on my way home from work.
I definitely feel that is an answer to prayer, cause I just didn't know what else to do - but pray. I just asked God to please take care of the problem for that day, cause I had things I wanted to do. And He answered. With being able to use the van, I drove my daughter and two granddaughters around for the day as we pre-celebrated one granddaughter's Monday birthday.
We drove to our knitting group and knitted and chatted for a couple hours. Then we headed out for lunch (Wendy's) and after lunch headed over to get our mani/pedi done. Well, two of us got mani/pedi - the two granddaughters bought just got their nails done. It was nice because business was slow and we were the only ones in there for awhile so was able to get focused attention. After nails I took them all home and came home for a couple hours before we headed out for a birthday dinner for the birthday girl.
Today our birthday granddaughter was very excited to head to San Diego for a weekend with her boyfriend. No, I do not approve of it all, but she is over 21 - in fact, will be 22 this year. And yes, I did voice my opinion to her and told her how I felt about it. I didn't expect her to change her plans. She would be married by now if it was up to the two of them - it's her father who is the royal jerk. And that's a whole nother post that I probably will not create. Elopement could be an option. Not this weekend though.
I started this Saturday morning and this is Sunday afternoon. I reckon I should start working on the boxes I have piled up of papers. I need to close my eyes and start tossing. No one cares about most of the stuff I have piled up over the years. Seriously. Most I don't even know what it is. It is just hard for me to go through things or clean with all parties of this household are home. It's annoying and I'll just leave it at that. But I need to clean everything out if I plan to sell in a couple years. I want to retire at some point, and as long as we live in this house, I cannot. Another long story.
I did the life line screening last week. I am awaiting the results of the 5 big tests I had done. I know I have some arthritis, but am curious about the osteoporosis which the doctor says I have. I do need to take calcium, I reckon, and vitamin D. I just take what pills I have to take. And fight against everything else. Which reminds me, I need to run to the drugstore as my prescription is ready for pickup. Maybe I'll give in and buy dinner... and we can pick it up while we are out. I resisted for lunch. It irritated me, really. I cooked a nice big breakfast. Bacon, eggs, toast, applesauce, tomatoes, etc. 4 hours later it's 'what's for lunch' attitude. I couldn't believe he was hungry already. So guess I need to hush and sign off as I'm just starting to ramble... hope you are having a good day.
Blessings.

Same O Same O ..... sorta
It was back to work today and pretty much everything was the same. Except I had a few things more / different that I needed to do. I was kept busy all day - even if I did leave at 2:30PM to go get my hair cut. Yes I did. Both of my bosses (and I'm sure others) take off early to go get hair cut, nails painted, toes done, massages.... and I usually try to schedule my things during the weekend. However, THIS time I went ahead and scheduled for tonight. Told my boss I was taking off at 2:30 to get my hair cut and she said to go ahead. So I did.
I went with bangs this time - and about 2" cut off the bottom - and I love it. Of course this is still the first night - but I do like it. I sent a photo to my boss and she said it was cute! I walked in after getting it cut and hubby goes "I love the color!" I didn't get it colored this time. I was going to but my hair guy said with changing the style, it didn't need color unless I insisted. Why would I insist on paying more money? I will need a trip in 4-6 weeks so I can wait. :-)
Been trying to get pictures off my phone - they won't download to my new computer because it's an iPhone and Microsoft. sigh. So my daughter told me to email them to myself and then try to save them. That doesn't work either. I may have to have my daughter walk me through it so that I can save them. I do know that I need to free up space on my phone or I won't be able to do anything!
I need to just save them all to a disk and delete them all. I don't know why I keep them all anyway - except to show them off. Sigh. Everyone has the photos too. Oh well.
The girls dumped me tonight - one had to work on some real estate stuff and the granddaughter needed to study. She did offer to meet me for dinner - but I told her no - to go study. That's more important. Hubby is out with his men's group at Starbucks tonight so I'm home alone. Which isn't a bad thing - except I've eaten a small bag of limon potato chips, some potato salad, and now eating hummus with pita chips. I think I need to stop.
There is something called Life Line Screening that is in the neighborhood thereabouts tomorrow and I'm going to get 5 things tested. Can't remember what they all are - one is bone density for osteoporosis, two others are for stroke risks, abdominal aneurysm test, and something else. I just decided to do it. One, a carotid Doppler, was requested by my eye specialist a few months back as I had lost vision twice in my left eye. Partial vision. I think I know what caused it (a pinched nerve) but the specialist couldn't find anything wrong and said I needed the Doppler done. That's all well and good, but at $356 my cost, it was not on my priority list. With doing it through this group - it's included in the $149 I paid. It's a great deal for anyone. Just go to www.lifelinescreening.com and see where they are located, what you want to have tested - they have great deals. I'm having mine done in the morning - and then will work from home for the rest of the day as it will take about 1.5 hours to complete all 5 tests. I drive 26 miles one way so might as well save some gas.
Ok - I think I will go knit for awhile so that I will stop eating.
Blessings.
Another day off work
and I'm loving it. Of course it is a holiday..sorta. Memorial Day. A day to remember those who have died, specifically in wars or military, but I think people tend to see it as a day to remember all who have died. Some look at it as another day off work.
As I sit here and ponder about today, I think of those who have died. I remember my daddy, whom I barely can remember as he died when I was six, and I look at his picture this morning and wonder what my life would have been like had he lived. I think of my mother, and the way she chose to live her life. Am I so much like her? Do I want to be? I often think of the troubles within my own family and compare that to what my mother had to deal with. I feel her pain. It is real.
I think of my first husband. Yes, I prefer to say first husband more so than 'ex'. He made the choice to be the ex until.... but that is a story that will be buried with me. I loved him; he was my first love, my soulmate, so to speak. No one knows the truth but God. He was Army, served in VietNam and I was so proud of him. It changed him, somewhat.
I think of those that serve/served in the military. My hubby served in the Air Force in Japan in the 50's. My son is currently in reserves, Army, and has served 3 tours. I want him to retire this year as he volunteers and takes the men in his unit as family and the stress is killing him. I won't discuss his marriage or his current situation. He makes it what it is. Just like we all do. I have cousins who served in the Marines, relatives served in the Army. I'm sure other military branches as well. Seems like I had an aunt who served in the coast guard, but am not sure. I need to search my history if I really want to know.
We will be heading over to the daughter's later this morning or early afternoon for a cookout and swim. I made potato salad last night and made enough to give some to my son who won't be going. I asked, but he hasn't responded yet if he wanted some. Maybe I will ask again this morning.
In my devotions this morning it asked: What is one thing you could do to sacrificially serve someone close to you this week? and..... Imagine that you are face to face with Jesus right now. What do you want to say?
The second part grabbed me. What did I think of? Letting Him gather me in His arms and hold me close while I cried until I couldn't cry no longer. Then, maybe my healing could begin.
Blessings.

so glad for a 3 day weekend!
Work wasn't so bad this week, but I had the 'don't want to be here to work' blues. I really wanted to be home where I hope that I would get things done.
I DID start to get some things done today - and have a couple boxes of things ready to get rid of - but there is so much more that I could be doing! But I just don't wanna. Think I will run to Costco in a little bit. Refrigerator is nearly bare. That's my excuse, though. The only thing I need to buy is potatoes so that I can make a potato salad for Monday.
We got up early this morning and did our quiet time. Then I took hubby out for 'geo-caching' so that he could see what I enjoy with it. I'm still not sure if that was a good thing or not. We looked for 4 items - found two, two we did not find. He was cranky, and he did find one. Cranky. I decided 4 was enough. Actually, he said on the last one - one more and that's it. He was, after all, getting hot. We had a breeze, but it was warm, I will admit. It's only fun if you are the one finding things. Or just finding things. I enjoyed it so much last weekend.
One thing I will say about it, geo-caching clears the mind as you are busy looking for the item and you aren't thinking about your problems.
We came home and I started to work on the alcove I have wanted to work on for awhile. I HAVE TOO MUCH JUNK! Truly! I have papers from the 90's and I'm sure the 80's that I have hung on to. Old classes I went to. Other things. I need to just throw away, but I want to go through the papers to see if there is anything I would want to keep. Just didn't feel like going through them all today. I have sooooo much! I need to keep telling myself that my kids don't want to have to go through stuff when I die - and I don't need to go through all this stuff when I move - so just get rid of it! It has no value. But what if I miss something I would want to keep? DUH - I don't even know what is there so how could I miss it? Right?
I do have two boxes of paper and folders to 'donate' so will try to get rid of those this weekend. I have no idea what is in the boxes I have buried in my closets. Maybe yet this weekend I will start pulling those out - but I have so much already out to work through! Geez - just get rid of it already! But some stuff is good stuff. FINE! Donate it! See I talk to myself often about this!
I guess we will be going to the daughter's for Memorial Day brunch/lunch/cookout. My job is to bring potato salad. Want to make enough that I can give some to my middle child.... I know he likes it and more than likely has his own plans for that day.
We took a grandson out for a birthday dinner (late) the other night and enjoyed him so much. I think we will just start doing that with the grandchildren. It was much easier to give them cash for their birthday - but we still weren't part of their lives. This is one way we can be. I love these kids and want to be involved with them.
I told hubby this morning that I am thinking of maybe doing a breakfast ever so often and invite one of the families over. I love to cook and breakfast is fairly simple. Come dinner and I want to cook it all!! Maybe soon.
Sigh. Hubby just came in and of course had to see what I was doing. I really dislike when he reads over my shoulder. I keep moving my computer just for that reason. Not that I am hiding anything. I just have this adversion of someone looking over my shoulder. I have very little room on this desk so can't move it much anywhere else. I may continue to look for a bigger desk. I had found one at Staples, but they didn't have any in stock and they wouldn't take it apart for me to get in my room. So I had to walk away from it.
Ok - need to run to Costco. Hope you are having a good weekend.
Blessings.

I survived Jailbreak
We had so much fun! We didn't get away until nearly 7PM, but that's ok. We made it up to Prescott safely and kind of chilled out for the rest of the evening. We did a facial. We knitted. We talked. It was fun.
Saturday morning we were up around 6-6:30 to watch the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. I've tried not to follow the drama so much.... but inside every girl/woman wants to be a real princess and seeing it happen, makes it nice. We watched it on YouTube, but didn't watch it all - I just wanted to watch her walk down the aisle, see her dress, etc. Once that was done, we were ready to head down to breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we just kind of chilled out in the room for awhile, then went to Hobby Lobby and Walmart. Bought yarn (surprise, surprise) and a few other things. After that, we went geo-caching most of the afternoon. That was so much fun - and we were outside - the weather was absolutely beautiful - and we got a lot of fresh air. After that we went to dinner at Applebees before heading back to the hotel.
Slept in until 6AM on Sunday (me - 8AM for the other two) and did my quiet time, sat and knitted while waiting on the other two to wake up. After breakfast we came back up to the room and gave ourselves foot detox and soaked our feet out on the balcony. A lot of fun laughs. Again the weather was so nice we had the balcony doors open. It was really hard to have to pack up and head back down the mountain.
And God got involved. We were whipping down the mountain at a good pace when the daughter decides we need to stop at a really good pie place on the road heading home for lunch. No problem. When we got there, I pulled off and we went in and ate a sandwich and they got pie. As we came out, I noticed traffic was backed up in front of the restaurant. Then a police car went by with lights flashing. Then an ambulance. Then a firetruck. We decided to wait it out.
We walked to the little shops on the left and remembered we hadn't bought our "souvenir magnet" for our trip. Found some pottery magnets so we bought those and I wrote Jailbreak Getaway 2018 Prescott on them. Then my granddaughter and I went to another shop and got some green tea. And then we met my daughter in front of the restaurant - we sat down and grabbed our knitting to work on while we waited. As we waited, I noticed that traffic (which had been completely stopped) was now starting to move. After about ten more minutes we decided to try it. We went back in and bought a pie to take home, then loaded up the car. We got on the highway and by then the traffic had totally opened up and we had no problems at all heading on home.
If we hadn't stopped for lunch, we would have been caught in the middle of the brush fire in the middle of the median, we wouldn't have had lunch, not gotten our magnets, and we wouldn't have gotten more knitting done. We didn't have to sit in a hot car - we had a cool breeze and shade, a cool ice tea to drink, and a restroom close by. Perfect.
We are already planning next year. We decided that we would write down things we want to do and put in a jar. Next spring we will take everything out and then figure what area has the most things we want to do, then find a hotel in that area. We'd love to go to San Diego, but don't think hubby will let me go on Jailbreak there. I made my daughter and granddaughter promise that if some year I am not here, that they will continue to have a 'jailbreak getaway' every year.
All in all, it was a nice, restful, weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Blessings!

Better than I could imagine....
It's ok. Not what I could say "really good" now, but it's ok. The nightmare of last weekend has ended... permanently, I hope. It's amazing how a bottle of booze and 12 2mg blood pressure pills can scare the heck out of people. Other than, please excuse my bluntness, looking totally stupid, I have no idea of what he was trying to accomplish. True, he tells me that his VA doctor had told him the BP pills would help him sleep and to take them at night. Hadn't heard that one before. So, according to my son, he had taken two, and when they didn't make him sleepy (along with the bottle of booze), he took more, and then more, because he wanted to go to sleep.
Of course being the drama queen his wife created a huge problem for him by calling his "work wife" and telling her he had taken a handful of pills and of course the 'real wife' was told to call 911. DUH. Why would you call someone $40 of UBER distance away to take care of YOUR spouse? She was at first asked why did the "work wife" get called - why didn't the "real wife" call the mother-in-law or one of the siblings. Her response? "Because they told me not to call them". Well, there is a reason for that.
I don't need to be called / text'd every time he starts drinking and calling her names. I don't need to be told to call my son because he is acting weird. I don't need to call my son when he's depressed and drinking. I talk to my son periodically - and usually sober - he isn't going to listen to me when he's drunk. He doesn't listen to me when he's sober. So yes, I don't answer my phone when she calls, and I don't usually respond to the texts when it's about my son.
But in this case, I may have gotten more involved. But with all this being said, he has been in a BH facility all week, and has hopes of getting out today. First time this week he didn't call me yesterday - which was disappointing. I wanted an update. I don't know if he's getting out today or what is going on. I hope he calls me later and lets me know either way.
He is doing better. He really does need to cut back the drinking and get help for his depression. Of course that would mean he needs to get a divorce, and only he can make that call. Yes, his "real wife" is the cause of his stress and depression. Totally understandable just from when we have been around her. I don't think she feels any of this is 'her' fault. And it isn't ALL her fault. But she needs to understand she is the major portion of it. Her and her family. Three days of being around her family was too much for him to handle. All but one sister is just like her. I think I would take up drinking if I was around them. Geez, did I really type that out loud?
BUT - on a positive and happy note - today I am off work and getting ready to head north for our 3rd annual Jailbreak Getaway! I am mentally and physically exhausted and I am so ready to get away from life for awhile and knit and talk and geo-caching and shopping and whatever else we want to do. Depending on when the granddaughter gets off work today is when we will head north. I opted to take the day off because I really need a mental health day too.
And, I've started seeking God for another job. Yes, I do enjoy my job, but this one boss is way over my head with things she wants me to do. She is a pro in Excel and she was showing me yesterday a huge critical confidential project she wants me to be the 'master' of and input updated information. Unfortunately, what my problem is, I don't know excel. And at age 68 I have no eagerness to learn. Knowing it will not advance my career. I don't want to advance. I want to retire. I'm already tired of driving 26 miles one way 5 days a week. I do enjoy the aloneness because I don't get that when I'm home. I have silence if I want it, the radio or make a phone call if I don't. But the wear and tear of the daily drive is wearing me out. Whine, whine, whine.
When I go in Monday, unless I just email her this weekend as the big meeting is on Monday, I will ask her to assign that important task to an admin who created the excel report for her and knows how to use it. And loves excel. I may have step down from my position, but that's ok. It's just a title. Yes, the money is very good, but God will provide what we need. We will need to sell the house if I lose my job, but that's ok. I'm not attached to this house. But, the mortgage isn't bad - what is bad is that the upkeep is almost as much as the house payment. By the time hubby has added a landscaper, a pool guy, security, home warranty, sewer insurance, etc it all adds. up. Ok I'm done.
I'm going to stop and start my packing. I am so ready. Van is getting an oil change and a tire rotation this morning, and all the fluids checked. I'm praying they don't find anything wrong. Last time I had to buy two new tires. I'm driving my van up north. Hubby is at his breakfast study with the men so I have a few hours alone. I'm loving it.
Grandson's 20th birthday today. I've already text'd him and we will take him out to dinner next week. I was going to just give him $ last night, but was asked why didn't I take him out. I haven't in the past because I always felt he was too busy. He is, after all, a teenager. But I will make it a point now to take each of the grandsons out - grandchildren, actually. :-) It's all good.
Gotta get busy! Hope you have a great weekend! God is good - all the time God is good.
Blessings!

Blessings!

Trusting in His bigger plan...
This nightmare began last night before I even became aware of it. The phone call came shortly after midnight to me, awakening me from a deep sleep. Still groggy, I answered the phone, and trying to place who was calling as they say, 'I'm so sorry to call you, but you need to know that....' I place who it is, and then try to understand as they tell me my youngest child, now 44, has attempted suicide with pills and alcohol. I'm told he was ok, they had gotten to him in time. Did not have to pump his stomach, but did give him something that would cause the alcohol to get out of his system, and that he was stabilized. The caller and I discussed how he needed an intervention - with me asking how we can do that. Her comment back to me was "you are the mom, they will listen to you." And I'm thinking you don't know my children...they do what they want. We are in agreement of what the real issue in this depression is, but it is a step that my son alone can make.
I fall to my knees after that call, praying that God would take care of him, that God would grant me wisdom and discernment how to help him. Awake most of the night, I fall back to sleep to be awaken once again by my phone ringing. Another Army soldier calling to update me. Praise God for these two soldiers who love my son and want to help him get better. This call broke my heart as it was relayed how my granddaughter shared with this one about how she is treated by her step-mother. How I wish I could bring her home with me and love on her. I hinted at it, but hubby being who he is, refused. Another story for another time.
As I sat here after the second phone call - still nothing from the wife, not even a text, I sent a text to our pastor's wife that we would not be in church today (we have responsibilities today) and why, and asked for prayer. My phone rings again and it is the DIL. She proceeds to tell me where he is at and he will be moved tomorrow. And that she text'd my other son, and daughter, and their uncle. I don't even ask why my brother. We make plans to go there to see him in a couple hours. Then she calls back and says he is being moved today at 10:30.
Hubby cooks breakfast around 8:45AM - cause it is mother's day. We finish eating and hubby's phone rings - it is our pastor - who is currently in Africa - face-time calling to check on how our son is, asking what can they do to help us. His wife had called and told him of our pain. God is so good to send us a loving and caring pastor and church family.
It is now 9:30. I tell hubby and he hustles to get ready and we head that way. Only one person allowed back at a time - so the wife had to come out, and I went back for about 2 minutes and then they were there to take him. So I hustle back to the front so that hubby could come back and see him real quick. And then they were gone.
We opted to come back home since we both got to see him. My granddaughter had been brought to that facility but didn't have time to see her dad before they took him away, so they were off to the new facility. They can see him during the intake period. I will call the new facility - which he will be at for about 5 days - and see when we can see him. I want to see him without his wife. Family time starts at 7:30, but I'm hoping they will work it out with us to see him before or even after. If not, will work around her.
I have spent time praying, asking God for wisdom and discernment. I think now of how lucky I am this mother's day. My son even said 'happy mommy day' while I was there. I told him it was a happy mommy day because he was still alive. He thinks he would have been ok even now.... he doesn't realize how lucky he is. I am thanking God for His intervention once again, in my son's life.
God has had to rescue this rebellious child time and again (and my other son - and daughter! as well). I can not cease to pray for each one for I fear what could happen if I don't. I came across something I wrote out several months ago....
"The condition of God's blessing is absolute surrender of all into His hands. If our hearts are willing for that, there is no end to what God will do for us, and to the blessing God will bestow." (Andrew Murray)
So here I am with a hurting heart for my son, for my children and grandchildren, and I have to willingly surrender them - "ALL" into His hands. Lord, I am trusting in Your bigger plan for my children and grandchildren. I willingly surrender them ALL into Your hands, for Your intervention into their lives.
Blessings!

Saturday, it is....
Our church is having a women's luncheon today. I sent an invite to my daughter and daughters in law, and two of the granddaughters. I wasn't sure if my daughter and one granddaughter would be back from California in time as they were there for my son-in-law's mother's funeral. However, last night I received a text they were on their way home with an ETA of 2AM. I am assuming they made it ok - and that they will be coming to the luncheon with me. One daughter-in-law didn't respond, one did, my other granddaughter explained they had things going on at their church. And that's ok.
I was to be on the set-up committee, but due to work, I only was able to give the use of my decanters for tea - and I bought 4 gallons of tea for the luncheon. I hope it will be enough. I think they only expect 20-25 women. I don't know. This is my first function there so am not sure how well attended they are.
Only six more days until our Jailbreak Getaway - when my daughter, granddaughter and I take off for the weekend. This is our third year. First year we went to Payson, last year to Tucson, and this year we are heading to Prescott. We are going later (May versus March) and have to take a weekend since our granddaughter needs to work and can't take off. But that's ok. It will be good to get away. We plan to geo-cache and shop, and knit. Not sure really of what all. Just getting away - just us. It's a nice break, even over a weekend.
My knitting is coming along. I still make mistakes, but I do enjoy it. I find that most evenings I am knitting instead of reading. I've decided I need to designate which nights I'll read, and which nights I'll sew, and which nights I'll knit. I have a lot I want to get done before Christmas and my time is limited. I can't believe we are half-way through May already.
Guess I need to get in the shower and get ready for the luncheon. Got to get there early.
Blessings!

and Monday it is.....
I should be on the learning center and going through the 20 or so things I have until June 30th to complete. But, here I am, deciding instead to write a few lines here. It is, after all, Monday.
Had an interesting situation happen this morning. Someone I knew at our last company started work here today. I happened to be in the hallway when she came through with a supervisor. I recognized her immediately (shocked though I was at her appearance) but she acted like she didn't know me at first - then she said, yes, I know who you are and said my name. No greeting, no hi, how are you, etc. It was just really weird. We were not the best of friends before, nor do I expect us to be now. She will be in another department so our paths will rarely cross. She used to report to my boss, so her behavior is really strange. But that's ok too.
I love my boss. She took me and another administrative assistant out for a belated admin professional day lunch. Yeah it was just Panera, but that's fine - I didn't have to pay for my lunch! I did have to tell them we had to leave - the admin with us is hourly and has to clock in and out - my boss and I don't. (Yay). So we came back. It was a nice lunch and it is always good to be appreciated.
I haven't had too much to do today, but I do need to get on my learning center stuff. It's mandatory. Everyone has to do it - even my bosses!
It's a nice quiet Monday. Would rather be home doing my knitting. That sounds like more fun. I had a somewhat busy weekend and did not get done the things I wanted to. Well, I should have done, let's put it that way. I had our knitting group Saturday morning, then my daughter and I drove to the new Michaels that opened up this weekend, then to Hobby Lobby - and yes, I bought more yarn - then I took her home. Was home about an hour then left to go get a facial. Then back home. Sunday was church - then hubby wanted to go to Jersey Mikes' for lunch - then home for a few minutes then off to get a massage. By the time I got back home, I only had time to knit. :-) Well, I did get through my clothes and some jewelry for the women's boutique on next Saturday. It was a good day.
Need to get busy. Tonight I'm not sure what I'm going to do... I know what I SHOULD do....
Blessings!

Sunday morning....
I don't usually get on the computer on Sunday mornings - especially before church - yet, here I am this morning. I guess now that I have the computer in my room, I can do whatever I want, right? However, I have been doing my quiet time and was sitting here thinking about how much time I have left before I have to start getting ready for church - the advantages of a late service - and decided I had enough time to write a short blog. As if I write short blogs.
Actually, lately, I have just been writing nonsense... just thoughts. Definitely not what I intended this blog to be. I just kind of lost my way for awhile, I think. Life is not easy. I get frustrated, and discouraged, as many of you do as well.
Work is going well... but lately I've often wished I could quit work. But I can't. Not yet. Hubby commented the other day did I ever feel bad we can't do things like other retired people do. I honestly told him yes. I don't envy them for being able to travel and do things and not work. I resent that he chose to not stay with a job long enough to build a pension and that he refused to find a job when he lost the last one. I blame him I cannot retire and do things. I am not big into traveling, so that's not it for me. But I would like to be able to choose to work and not have to work. My big plus is that I do have a good job and I make good money. Good thing - we have to have my check. As far as my pensions - I pulled them out a long time ago because he didn't work and we had big bills to pay. So for now, I'm stuck working. Thank God I'm healthy. I just get discouraged at times that I don't get a choice.
I told hubby a couple weeks ago that I was going to retire next year. You could have heard his head snap as he turned to look at me and ask 'why?'. LOL First thing we would have to do is sell the house and I have 20-ish years of stuff to go through and dispose of. I'm giving away to anyone who wants anything. I know my kids don't want anything - other than my daughter has commented she wants the grandmother clock. I'm ready to let go.
But there are things I want passed down my family - I have my daddy's (about 6 of them) books and his Bible. I have my mother's Bible. I don't want strangers to get them. I have a few other things that belonged to my mother or my dad... I need to determine who would not lose them or throw them away... and give to them. I've already started giving my dolls away. I paid over $100 for most of them so I hope they don't get tossed. I need to sort out what I have left.
Geez - sounds like I'm getting melancholy here! Just a lot of things on my mind that I want to do - and should do. I need to start downsizing so cleaning out has got to happen. I need to close my eyes and just let go. I don't need all this 'stuff'.
And...I need to stop and get off here.... this is too convenient now. Got to fix breakfast and get ready for church. Hope you have an awesome Sunday - it's hot here in Phoenix!
Blessings!
