One more day until we are on our way! I have barely started to pack - the only thing in my suitcase at the moment (I think) is a small gift for my sissy. A congratulations gift - she completed her training to be a nursing assistant! Now all she needs to do is get her certification test completed and she will be able to take care of me if I get old. :-) She will be a CNA - certified nursing assistant! How cool is that! I am so proud of her.
My brother sent me a note this morning that I can set it up for whomever wants to track us on our mini-marathon to get emails of our location. I wonder if any of the children would be interested. I guess I will send an email to see if any want to track us to be sure we complete it. Actually, it will probably just remind them that we are doing the walk. They will probably forget we are even gone. :-(
I had a blast yesterday afternoon with grandson David. We went to visit Aunt Mae and Aunt Sue and give them their Mother's day roses. We've given them roses close to 28 years now, I'd guess, at Mother's Day. We are really not relatives, but they adopted us when we moved to Arizona 29 years ago. On the way home from there I remembered that Miss Martha, a dear lady whom everyone loves, and wondered if she would be doing her Sunday evening activity of bowling. So we stopped by the bowling alley and she was there. It was so fun visiting her for a few minutes and letting her see how much David has grown. She loves all the grandchildren and I have promised her a photo that we took at Easter. David and I talked, and I taught him the song, "I'm IN right OUT right UP right DOWN right happy all the time!". He got so sleepy on the way back and I wanted him to stay awake til I got him back home, so told him if he went to sleep I'd do raspberries on his tummy and neck, and nibble on his ears. He was so funny!! He stayed awake... and when I pulled up in front of his house, he jumped out of his carseat, came to the front of the van and climbed into my lap, and pretended to be asleep! Of course I had to raspberry his tummy and neck and nibble his ears - that is exactly what he wanted! He is such a joy! It makes me smile just thinking about our fun time.
Just got an email from one of my best friends - she is a new grandma! Congratulations, Sue (and Paul!) Being a grandma is the best!
Need to jump off and check on this tracking thing and get busy with last minute stuff. I'm taking my computer to hopefully keep up on my blog. Will see!
What is it that brings you joy? A new baby of your own, a grandchild, your own child? Whatever it is, take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the joy.
Blessings!

Feeling somewhat mellow.....
My dream as a grandmother was to have my grandchildren around me whenever I could. It seems any more than I see most of them less and less. It makes me sad. And mellow.
I'm loving it that my youngest grandson still loves to run to grandma and hug and say 'grandma you are the bestest grandma!' although I'm sure he says it to his other grandma as well. I love the affection he gives so freely. I love he wants to spend time with me.
But he is the youngest, and the older ones have just gotten too busy to spend time with grandma - well, unless I plan a 'grandma day'. I love the impromptu times when I can call and they want to go with me to visit someone or just go shopping with me, just to be with grandma. Ok, perhaps that isn't the real reason, but I like to think it is.
I need to visit some friends this afternoon and have found a couple grandchildren have homework and are not available to hang out. I'm checking on the youngest grandson.... maybe he would want to hang out. Nothing to do but come along for the ride, but it makes it fun for me. I love being with the grandchildren; they keep me young.
We leave this week for our big trip to Indiana. I do have my suitcase out and open on the bed, but haven't started to pack yet. I'm packing light and will buy what I need there - and will use the washer and dryer for what I do take! Wish I was twenty pounds lighter... but that is a whole nother subject!
Yea! David wants to come with Grandma for the trip to visit Aunt Mae and Aunt Sue! He will make me laugh, for sure. I love his Davidisms! I love his innocence and constant chatter! I know Aunt Mae and Aunt Sue will enjoy his visit as well. I wonder if I could get a visit in to see Miss Martha... she bowls on Sundays... will see what time we get back. She would be thrilled to see David.
So guess I am off of here so that I can get ready! Told David's mama I'd pick him up in about half hour. Hubby will enjoy the peace and quiet while I'm gone, I'm sure. I'll enjoy the constant chatter of a grandchild.
I'm so blessed! and may you also receive many.....
Blessings!

Yes - it's here! Episode 5
www.youtube.com
Wow. My takeaway from this episode? The comment..... 'raised in church, but not raised in Christ'.
I think about my growing up years and how every time the church doors were opened, we were there. Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, Wednesday evenings, and if there was a revival - every single night. Then there was any other activity that went on - we were there.
I was raised in church. But I wasn't raised in Christ. I didn't learn how to follow Jesus. Oh, I heard the sermons, the parables, the hell fire and brimstone preaching. But I don't recall ever hearing about how much Jesus loved me. How Jesus wanted me to follow Him. Yes, I went to the altar when I was 14 and was then baptized, but I didn't really understand what it was all about. After all, wasn't that what we were supposed to to around that age? Nothing happened afterwards. No one shared with me how to live. I was on my own. And I had no example to follow.
I didn't know how to raise my children in Christ, so although I got them to church in their 'growing up' years, they got cheated as well. They also were raised in church, and not in Christ.
I was in my 30's when I took a Discipleship class at the church we were attending. I can honestly say I learned everything I know about prayer, reading my Bible, fasting, tithing, accountability - all these things and much more - I learned through Discipleship. I learned that Jesus really did love me, in spite of me. I learned about true, real, forgiveness. I learned how to love Him. And I learned how to follow Him.
Did I follow him as a follower - or as a fan - all these years since? I regret to say I probably did both. As I learned about Him, and how to live for Him, I was a follower. Then life happens and it is easy to put other things before things I should do. It's easy to take the back seat in life than the front seat, to just be His fan.
I'm tired of that. I'm tired of being a fan. I know I won't be able to do all I would like to do, but I believe that Christ will open doors for me to do what I can. He knows my heart, and my desire to follow Him with all of me. He knows me better than I know myself. He knows my circumstances, my situations, my life. He loves me where I am, and is willing to help me to follow Him.
When Jesus says, "Come, follow me", that is exactly what He meant. What is your choice? I know what mine is.
Blessings!

Busy Days!
I've had a few busy days this week - but a lot of fun stuff to do as well. Yesterday I got to have lunch with my middle child, Ralph. It was so nice to sit down 1:1 and just talk. Enjoy a good salad too. Thanks, son. I love it when I can get my children (or grandchildren!) away on a 1:1 basis and just spend time with them and hear what is going on in their lives.
Reminds me that the other day one of my Princess granddaughters asked when we could have a 'Grandma Day'. Figure it will have to be when she is out of school for I have a busy month ahead of me. It will be here before I know it. I love spending time with them all. I think I may have to make a trip to Tucson sometime in June to visit our Princess there. Sure miss getting to spend time with her, but school takes up a lot of her time.
My little sister 'graduated' today with her NA (nursing assistant) accreditation. She now needs to take the Indiana State certification test and then she will be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). My brother, Larry, and I have teased her we are glad she is doing this so that she can take care of us when we get old. Neither of us plan to get old though - we are enjoying life too much! Congratulations, Sissy! I'm so proud of you!
I still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up - but need to make a decision soon. Next month I will be actively looking for employment. I want to find a fun job, one in which I can work with people and be an encouragement to them. I want to help others, to contribute to their lives. My sissy says I need to become a CNA as well, but I think one in the family is enough. That is her dream (beginning of the journey to become an RN) but not mine. I'm just not sure what I should do - I have lots of ideas, but nothing (other than one thing) that steals my heart. I have to get paid or I could volunteer at my dream job as I have for years. It's a shame that needing a pay check can steal people's dreams so easily. Who knows - I may end up becoming a CNA as well if I can't find another job soon enough. They are always in need. I love to teach others, but first I'd have to get a degree. Always a conflict. Just can't walk in and say 'here I am'. I'm trusting in God to direct my path. Not worrying about it.
Pulled my suitcase out today to start packing. I can't believe it is less than a week and we will be in Indiana! I am intending to travel light - and shop when I get there for what I need! I can always ship it home before I leave and then return light too. I hate that 50 pound limit on suitcases! Just made it last year at 49 pounds!
How are you doing? I'm sure you are busy as well, but what are you busy at? Are you working at your dream job - or just hoping you can get to the age of retirement and quit? Do you have a dream?Wow - that could be another topic some day, couldn't it! Do you have a dream. Tugs at the heart, doesn't it? As you read that.... what do you think about?
Dreams can only come true if you put forth the effort. Are you still dreaming?
Blessings!

Now this is new!
Well, now. I was in my 'blog' yesterday but couldn't think of what to write about so skipped it. Today I still haven't come up with anything specific to write about - and find the entire blog changed. Not sure that I like it. Course that might be just because I haven't taken the time to look at everything.
So - this is what change looks like. What does it look like to you?
Change. So many of us fight it. Me included. It doesn't matter if the change is work-related, home-related, body-related - no matter what it is, we usually resist it. I can just see you now, thinking that you never resist change. Hello? You don't resist change? Surely in some area you do. After all, no one is perfect. Except Jesus, that is.
When your spouse or child don't like the way you do something and you refuse to change.... are you resisting? Or is there a valid reason why you don't change - other than you just 'don't want to'? I resist change all the time! Sometimes it is good, sometimes not.
But what is change? Change is doing something different than what we did before. I think. Guess I will stop and look it up in Webster and see what it says. Wow - lots of lines for change. I think I will just pick out some of them....
Change, changed, changing. To make different in some particular; to give a different position, course or direction; to replace with another; to put fresh clothes or covering on; to become different; Transformation - a time of going through.... interesting.
I like the word Transformation. Paul says in Romans 12:2 - Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will. (NIV)
In fact, I think I like it better than change. When a caterpillar creates his cocoon, he isn't changing. When he finally emerges from the cocoon, he isn't changed, he is transformed.
Just like we are. We when accept Jesus as Lord of our lives, our finances, our jobs, our homes, our families - our everything, we are transformed into His likeness. When we give up bad habits and allow Christ to work in us, we are transformed. His desires for us become greater than our desires for us. When we allow Him to guide our words, our actions, our lives - we are transformed into His likeness.
People resist change - even transformation at times. We watch The Biggest Loser because to me it is an inspiration to watch those who really want to 'transform' their fat bodies into thin healthy bodies and the process they are willing to go through in order to achieve that transformation. From a caterpillar into a butterfly. This season has been interesting, though. Sad because of the immaturity of the contestants and the focus on themselves. But overall, I still enjoy the show.
Are you wanting to stay a caterpillar, or are you willing to step back and put on the cocoon, and emerge as a beautiful butterfly? Are you wanting to stay in bad habits and destructive behavior or are you willing to believe that God can transform even you? No matter what you have gone through, no matter what anger or bitterness you hold within, no matter what life has dealt you - when you choose to live for Christ, He transforms you and helps you through your roughest battles.
Things may still not turn out like you want, but take a few minutes to imagine what your marriage, your home, your job, your friends - what would these look like if you allowed Christ to transform you. I think it would be well worth it, don't you? The end result is priceless.
Blessings!

Counting Down!
Oh my! One week from today and we will be packing up and getting ready for our trip and the mini-marathon! I have so much yet to get done, so much more walking to get under my belt!
Our Phoenix weather isn't cooperating much with us - it is getting HOT early in the morning so we have decided this week we will head over to the gym and walk on the treadmill - as boring as it is. My bro doesn't seem to understand how hot it can get when walking out here - but if he would remember when he was out a year ago and he and I walked at 5:30AM and how warm it was getting when we completed the 8 miles.....
But, no excuses. Treadmill works, it just isn't as interesting when you are 'stationary' and looking at the same things all the time. Sure, there are televisions all around the gym, but nothing on I want to particularly watch. So it gets boring. Now I don't mind walking my treadmill here at home - I put in a movie and just walk away. But, Tom needs to go too and so we will go to the gym together. I have already told my brother.... 'do not even think to ask us to do this again'. I don't mind the walking. It's the time involved in the training. When we walk ten miles and counting driving time, we use up nearly 3 hours of the day! Now if it is once a week, no big deal, but with training one has to do this more than once a week! Even with the 5-6 miles you are looking at least two hours involved.
True, I currently am not working and the time shouldn't be an issue. And I am grateful I am not working right now so that I can train. I don't know how my brother's wife is able to train. She is in management where she works and I know she works hard with long hours. She did a marathon last September so she already has a workout schedule in place, but still, with Indiana weather it is difficult for them to get out and walk when it rains so much. At least I enjoy walking and don't mind the heat, but Tom can't handle the heat like I can. Still, it's time to pull indoors or head out about 5-5:30AM. Who wants to walk that early in the morning! I am not, nor have I ever been, a morning person!
So one more week of training here then we will complete at least one more training walk before the big day. I don't like crowds so this is out of my comfort zone to do this. But, for family, I will. I was reading on the brochure I received last week that they will only cancel due to severe thunderstorms. I wonder how many they get in early May. Hmmm
I need to get off here and get busy so that I will be ready when hubby gets back from his morning meeting. Don't have much to talk about this morning. Perhaps another day!
Hope that you have a wonderful day!
Blessings!

Episode 4 - what does following Jesus mean to you?
www.youtube.com
I am so 'hooked' on these episodes that Not A Fan has been putting out. Each one that I have viewed has given me a new outlook on life. In this episode, three fans of Jesus are discussed. Interesting views. These episodes have helped me see what is of value, and what is not.
Ironically, I have already started decluttering and disposing of 'things'. I'm glad of that, and I'm glad that I have seen this for it renews my commitment to remove things that I no longer need. I'm content with giving them away.
Just like my need to find a job soon. I've been content with 'waiting' to really focus on looking and sending out resumes. How can I feel so content when so many people are out of jobs and struggling? Because my confidence is not in my ability to find a job, my ability to do a job. My confidence is in Him who will provide it for me. If He chooses to wait until we are in desperate need, so be it. I know He will provide. In the meantime, I am going to live and not fret about what the future may be.
I have learned that life is too short to hold anger, to hold on to bitterness, to keep hold of unforgiveness. The only person it hurts, is yourself. You aren't hurting anyone else by withholding from them, you are hurting only yourself. You are giving the other person control over you by holding on to what they have done to you. Let it go. Forgive. Seek Forgiveness. Live.
Live. A simple four letter word. For me to die is for Christ to live in me. Dying to self. Die to all my wants and wishes, all my dreams and desires. Laying everything down and wanting nothing more than to follow Jesus. All the way.
What are you willing to give up so that you can live? Can you do without excess material things? Can you do without excess food and eating out all the time? Can you do without all the extra things, the big house, the ipads, the fancy new cars, the expensive shoes, clothes, etc? I guess the real question is....
Are you willing to let go of it all, no matter what the circumstances, no matter what the cost, and follow Him?
Blessings!

So long, dear friend....
Today we are preparing to attend a funeral of a dear friend, Kathryn. We have known Kathryn for years through church; we sat across the aisles from each other and would chat and hug when we saw each other. As Tom and I were attending other churches the past six years, we had gotten out of touch, except for occasional visits to North Hills. Kathryn was such a dear heart, beautiful in spirit and in person. She loved working with the children's ministry at church. She will be missed in so many ways. My heart grieves for her family and friends left behind, but we all know she is now in a better place. We prayed for a miracle of healing, but God chose to take her home with Him.
As I think about Kathryn this morning and the times we have shared with each other, I again think about legacies. Kathryn has left us with a dynamic, loving, and caring legacy. This woman was truly a child of God and lived it. Sure, I don't know what her life was like at home, but I choose to believe the woman I knew outside of her home, was the one also living inside. She loved, and was loved.
Again, I think of my own legacy. I am getting up there in years, as they say nowadays. I used to say I wanted my children and grandchildren to know how much I love Jesus, and how much I love them - that would be my most precious legacy. I think I would still say it. I want my husband and my children and my grandchildren and my friends - to know they are loved and cherished. I may not always be attentive, may not always show it, but it is there. Here on earth they are my greatest treasures.
There are things I want to do before I leave this world. Letters I want to write, books I would love to write, things I want to say, things I want to do. A sort of bucket list, I guess. Perhaps if I actually wrote down all the things I wanted to accomplish before I die, my own 'bucket list', I would accomplish them much faster than if I just think about it. That could be a topic to discuss for another day.
Today though, I want to remember my friend Kathryn.
Take some time right now, think of those friends who you love and cherish. Let them know you care for them. You will be glad you did.
Godspeed, my dear friend Kathryn. You are loved, and you will be missed by many.
Blessings!

Gearing Up...
We got our postcards in the mail today for the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon! It has our bib number on it and also states it is mandatory that we bring these postcards, and a government-issued photo ID with us, to pick up our packet a day or two before the mini marathon. It is getting exciting to know it is only a couple weeks away!
And scary too! The questions start.... can we do it? Can I do it? Will we really be able to walk the 1-2 miles from the parking lot (with the thousands of people going to do the mini-marathon, parking will be at a premium I'm sure!) and still be able to walk the 13.1 miles on the designated route? And THEN, walk the 1-2 miles back to the vehicle? Have we walked enough to make it worthwhile to put ourselves in this race? We aren't going for a 'win', we are going for completion!
But what we have done, is it 'good enough'? We have walked quite a bit, especially this month, trying to gear up and be ready. Even with taking yesterday off, my legs felt weary, and I wondered, once again, can I do this? I decided to take an extra day of 'rest' to ensure my legs didn't wear out. My brother has cautioned me about overdoing it. I definitely don't want to take the fun out of walking. I enjoy walking, and look forward to being able to walk without timing myself to go faster. That is the hard part, getting my speed up. My little legs just do not want to go faster!
If you think about it - this very scene is like 'life', don't you think? We train, we pursue, we study, we push ahead.... amidst fears, confidence, ups and downs, .... and, life. Then we wonder..... is it 'good enough'.
Did we do enough for our spouses, our children, to help them through this journey called 'life'? Did we pour confidence and encouragement and abilities into them? Did we provide that hug when they needed it? Did we speak life into them and not discouragement? Were we good enough as a parent, a spouse, a friend? Did you leave them alone when they didn't want you to say anything, just wanted to be left alone? Did we try to live their life for them?
We focus so much sometimes on the end result, we forget about the journey. What about your journey? Are you learning anything along the way? Do you take time to speak kindly to those you love, do you give them their space, even if they don't ask for it? Do you let them live their own journey and not live your life through them?
Think about it. For today, what are you going to do? The saying is "today is the first day of the rest of your life'. You can start a new diet today, you can make a new friend, start a new book, you can... begin. What will you change in your journey that will make a difference to others? Will they notice? If they don't, perhaps you didn't make the right change. Think about it.
Gear up - and begin living today.

Episode 3 - Does your life affect others?
Episode 3 of the Not A Fan series is now live on YouTube! http://youtu.be/sJcWYjsUSSg Episode 2 will be available until Saturday, April 21. http://youtu.be/uNaQaLxVV70Be
If you haven't seen Episode 1 of Not A Fan, I'm sorry, for it has now been taken off you tube. I hope that you will take the time to watch episodes 2 and 3. If you have watched them, then you know what they are about. Really gives you something to think about, doesn't it.
This episode made me think back over the past 25 years when I was working. Did I ever try to undermine someone, did I ever try to do 'one up' on someone? I pray I did not. I can't think of any time, and I'm grateful for that, for if I could think of something then I probably did it. In the first episode, a man dies. I'm not telling you about episode 2 and 3, and encourage you to watch.
As I have pondered (yeah, I do a lot of that) this past episode, I have also pondered my life. My legacy. What am I leaving my children, and my grandchildren?
I am also pondering it because yesterday a very dear friend passed away. I think of the years I have known her. I read through facebook and read many comments made about her. And I wondered. What would be said about me?
Not that I should care once I'm gone, right? Wrong. And I care more because I am still alive. I have the opportunity to make a difference. I have an opportunity to change my legacy that I leave. I have a vision of ....... It can be anything. I don't think I have been such a 'bad' person, and I don't look to be considered 'great'.... I want to be known that I did the right thing, and that I loved God, my family, my church, my friends. I want to have a legacy in which I have made a difference in someones walk with God.
What about you? As you look back over your life, what kind of legacy are you going to leave? Will it be one you will be ashamed of? Yelling at your wife and kids, cheating on your taxes, disrespecting others, doing things you know is wrong but doing them anyway.... and the list could go on. Will your children and grandchildren be glad you are gone - or will you be greatly missed because of your attention and love to and for them?
What is your legacy you will leave when you die? What will your friends say about you? What will your spouse, children, and grandchildren say? You still have time to change it if it isn't something you could be proud of. Start now. Nothing like the present.
Blessings!

Spring Cleaning?
I decided recently to tackle my office. I think I may have mentioned it a time or two on here already. My office is usually the 'catch all' -- meaning that if we don't know where to put it, that is where it lands. Well, I decided to clean up and move things around. What started it was that I bought the TV stand and new TV for my room. Up until today we had moved the treadmill, set up the stand and TV, and I had moved two bookcases (one to the alcove and one stayed in the room) and my rocking chair. Of course other things had then to be moved to the other side, pending removal.
Today I wanted to focus on my books. I'm donating a lot of them to the church library for I just have no room for all of them. I've already donated about three bags of books - and now I have two boxes and a crate filled, ready to take tomorrow night. I found books I had forgotten I had. Some I've read, some I haven't, and some I just won't. I had to go through each one to make sure I was 'ready' to give it away. Some I still struggled with so they went into another box for me to hold on until the next wave of 'get rid of' flows over me.
But what I found interesting, more so than all the books I have, are the boxes of papers that I have held on to - many for years, I'm sure. You know the type of papers - old letters, things the grandchildren (surely still not from my children!) have made and given (I'm just guessing here) to us - papers from when I moved from one office to another and had to bring things home, papers I needed to keep regarding insurance, policies, etc (that are now no longer in existence) and of course when I have cleaned out/off my desks here at home and started to reorganize..... anyway, long story short..... I have about 5-6 boxes of paper stacked in my closet! Well, some have craft things in them which I am quickly getting rid of (have three bags of stuff to go to Savers already). I just can't believe all the boxes of paper. I decided I was NOT going to go through them today but perhaps do one box at a time and shred, trash or file them. The only reason I do not just take the box and dump it is that occasionally my mama would write me a letter and tell me a story of when she was growing up. I don't have many of those, but what if I threw one away and wasn't able to share it with my siblings?
So I have stacked those boxes back in the closet for another day. I was able to clear the space in the center of my floor again so that I can walk through it. I still have 'stuff' to go through and do something with, but I have made great progress. My brother told me to send him a photo when it got cleaned up. Brat. Hmm, then again, my dear friend in Mesa told me the same thing! She knows me well and that clearing my office has been on my list of things to do for years.
Just like you have a box, or a room, or a drawer - or something that needs to be cleaned out and you have been putting it off. Am I right? Or are you one of these people who has everything in place and exactly what you need in where it should be? I really don't know any of those people. Most people have a closet or something they need to go through.
But what about your mind, or your heart? Are you holding things back in your heart that continually hurts you when it comes to the front? Are there thoughts in your mind that come back to haunt you of things you should have done - or did and wish that you hadn't?
Sometimes we need to clean those areas out too. You aren't alone, I'm sure I have plenty in those areas to work on too. Just trying to get the clutter around me out of the way so that I can focus on what is inside. And I hope you are too.
As you are reading this, look around you. What can you dispose of, put away, or give away that you really don't need? Do you have something setting out that shouldn't be? What about the things you are putting in your mind? Is it something that shouldn't be there? Think about it. Then get to work. I hope you find a clear spot soon!
Blessings!

Integrity
The title of the new series at church is Integrity. It started out 'funny' in that a video clip was done of someone walking the street and asking people for their interpretation of 'Integrity'. I think the funniest was a woman who said 'Me speak no English'. A couple of people had a very good definition of it.
So what is YOUR definition of integrity. Before I give you Webster's definition, stop right now in your reading, and come up with your definition. Let's see how close you are to the real definition, as described by Webster.
Integrity: 1: an unimpaired condition : soundness. 2: firm adherence to a code of esp. moral or artistic values : incorruptibility. 3: the quality or state of being complete or undivided : completeness. syn see honesty.
Ok - it says to see honesty so let's go there!
Honesty: 1 obs : chastity. 2 a: fairness and straightforwardness of conduct. b: adherence to the facts : sincerity. 3: any of a genus (Lunaria) of European plants of the mustard family with cordate leaves and broad siliques. syn Honesty, Honor, Integrity, Probity mean uprightness of character or action. Honesty implies a refusal to lie, steal, or deceive in any way; Honor suggests an active or anxious regard for the standards of one's profession, calling, or position; Integrity implies trustworthiness and incorruptibility to a degree that one is incapable of being false to a trust, responsibility, or pledge; Probity implies tried and proven honesty or integrity.
I must admit as the question was being asked to those on the street I was pondering in my mind what would I say. I very much dislike being put on the spot - sometimes my confidence level isn't that great and I could possibly be afraid of saying the wrong thing and looking stupid. Ok, let's not go there.
Anyway - Integrity. Did your definition prior to reading what Webster said it was, hold true? Can you look back on your day, your week, this past month, and say that you have shown integrity in every thing you did or said? Were your words true and uplifting? Or did you try to not say the words that could incriminate you and instead mumbled something else that had nothing to do with the question? Or did you just get mad for getting 'caught' and storm off? Only you can answer that question.
There are several verses in the Bible on Integrity, but I am going to only pick a few to share. Obviously Integrity is an important issue to God, or He wouldn't have mentioned it in the Bible.
Nehemiah 7:2 "I put in charge of Jerusalem my brother Hanani, along with Hananiah the commander of the citadel, because he was a man of integrity and feared God more than most men do."
Psalm 41:12 "In my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever."
Proverbs 10:9 "The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out."
Matthew 22:16 "They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. 'Teacher,' they said, 'we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are."
What about you? Can you say that you are a man or woman of integrity? Would those who know you be able to say that about you? I encourage you to sit back and actually think about these questions. Does your definition of integrity line up with the word of God? Does it line up with how you live?
Integrity. Either you have it or you don't. I encourage you to make the changes necessary to become a man or woman of integrity. You will go much farther than you are. What is more important to you - being successful or having integrity? Be honest with yourself - that is the first step.
Blessings!

Silence.....
All I am hearing at this moment is the clock ticking. Silence. And then the click of the keys as my fingers press down on them. Then, when I stop, silence.
A moment in time. A moment not filled with anything....except.... silence.
But as my thoughts converge upon the silence, even in the 'sound of silence', I hear what I'm thinking. I wonder, I ponder, I make decisions. I hurt. I'm confused. I feel defeated. Lost. Silence brings it all alive.
And then I remember.
Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God." So I sit still. And Listen. I quiet my thoughts.
I marvel at His goodness and His mercy to me. He sees all and He knows all. As I cry out to Him, He gathers me in His arms and holds me close. He feels my pain. He knows my confusion. My prayers to Him that seem to go unanswered, I know that even when I don't see or hear the answer, I know He has answered me. Sometimes with 'yes'. Sometimes with 'no'. Sometimes 'maybe'. Sometimes it is 'just hold on....wait'.
I pray intensely for someone near to me and I want to see results..... but all I hear is..... silence. How do I know He is answering? I want to hear a 'yes'..... but His answer may be 'no'..... or even 'hold on, I'm working on it.' Sometimes I get impatient and orchestrate ways to get what I want now. But it doesn't come out the way I want it to. I mess up. I push my way to get my way. But it isn't always His way. He doesn't need me pushing or demanding or crying or trying to win His answer by being good. I need to step back. I need to take my hands off the situation. Remove my desires for an answer to be what I want it to be. Let Him take the Lead, take Control. If it is to be, when He orchestrates it, all is well.
What about you? Are you so busy trying to get your own way, to find the perfect job, to restore a lost relationship, to get a relationship, so busy with 'life' - that you forget to 'live'? Are you so caught up in your circumstances and situations that you forget that those you hold close, are the ones you hurt the most? Do you need to make some changes in your life, to let go of some things? Do you need to just take a few moments and step back in........ silence. Listen. When was the last time all you heard was the sound of your own thoughts? The ticking of the clock and nothing else?
Silence. 'Be still and know that I am God'. Silence. Listen.... you may hear His voice. Be quiet. Let Him lead you.
Blessings!

Blessings!

Is there something in the air?
Good grief! I skimmed through facebook and a blog before getting online this morning. I skimmed through the news. When I looked for the pause button while listening to a video this morning when my hubby came to tell me he was leaving and exploded on me because I turned my attention away from him to do that..... I begin to wonder - what is in the air?!
What is it that is ticking everyone off these days? What is it that if when you are already doing something that if you don't stop immediately and give them your undivided attention - they feel it is ok to dump on you? Do I ever do that? Probably. Most likely. But we aren't talking about just me right now. I'm talking about ALL of us.
Is there something in the air that is causing so much discontent, so much insecurity, so much uncertainty, so much anger.... what in the world is going on? Why are people screaming at people, killing people (mentally and physically). Why are we burying emotions and lashing out at others?
What - or Who - do you lean on when you are hurt? When you are angry? When you are insecure? When you are uncertain? When you are hurting? When you are lonely?
Some people turn to alcohol. They think it numbs the pain when in reality, it increases the pain and makes it more intense; it causes the pain to be the focus. And the drinking destroys relationships that they wouldn't want to lose for anything in the world. It destroys families and friendships. Am I against drinking? No, not saying that. I am talking about excessive drinking. Drinking when you cease caring how you act or what you say. Drinking to the point where you allow anger or hurt to overflow and you strike out at whatever and whoever is around you, and especially at those you love. You say things to them that you would never want to say to them while sober. Alcohol becomes your 'courage'. You hurt someone you love by the words you say, the actions you take, when you are drinking. You destroy yourself, your future, your family, your life. Drinking to the point where your loneliness and pain is so intense that you don't think you can go on. You do things you would never do sober. The loss isn't worth it. But you have to make that choice.
Some people turn to anger and bitterness and fighting. They think that their anger is justified and they say what they feel, however they feel it, and whenever they feel it. Yes, stress can cause one to lash out unexpectedly. But stress is no excuse either. Someone saying or doing something that doesn't please you can cause you to lash out verbally, and unfortunately in some cases, physically. Even if it is only verbal, to the person it is directed, it is also physical. The altercation destroys them inside. It kills them, little by little, until there is nothing left. No value, no emotion, nothing. Apologies are usually given and accepted, but over time, you wonder of their value.
Proverbs 29:11 A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.
Proverbs 29:22 An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins.
Luke 22:34-36 Be careful,, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.
There is a song that touches my heart every time I hear it. It goes something like this....
You are the air I breathe,
You are the air I breathe,
Your Holy Presence, living in me.
You are my daily Bread,
You are my daily Bread,
Your very Word, spoken to me.
And I, I'm desperate for you.
And I, I'm so lost without you.
So lost without you.
You are the air I breathe.
You are the air I breathe.
What air are you breathing in? Is it the world and all its strife, or do you breathe in REAL AIR?
Sometimes the world gets to all of us at one time or another. What air are you going to choose to breathe in this day? Look back over this past week, this past month, this past year. Do you need to clean up the air you breathe?
Blessings!

Who's in Charge?
I read an interesting article this morning by Pastor Shawn Lovejoy on 'Why I Resigned'. He started off by saying he resigned as leader of his church. It was interesting how he put it. As I read further into the article, he explained more of what he was saying. He wasn't resigning from the church, he wasn't resigning as Lead Pastor of the church. He was resigning from being the Leader. What does that mean? He realized that making his own decisions about how to run the church and its programs was not his responsibility. Even though he had felt that Jesus would want things done another way, he felt his way was best and did it his way. So he resigned. He also repented. And he also admitted that he would probably resign again at another time.
Jesus is always the Leader of the Church. Sometimes we forget that. Sometimes we forget that just because we facilitate a class, that doesn't put us 'in charge' of the church. We don't make the decisions for the church. Even the Pastor sometimes forgets who is really 'in charge' of the church. Oh, they may verbally say 'God is in charge here', but their words and actions definitely show otherwise. It is all about them and their ego. And it destroys churches. Until they realize what they have put before God - themselves - they find themselves in a downward spiral.
Jesus should always be the Leader of our homes. Sometimes we forget that too. We feel that we can make the best decisions for our finances, for our children, even for our spouses. We demand our own rights and push our way through every situation. After we make a mess of it, we decide that maybe Jesus does know better what to do. Until we can get past our egos and pride and attitudes, Jesus won't do anything. It's when we step back and ask Him to take things over, that He can - and will.
Taking our hands off. Sometimes that is really hard. How often do we pray and ask for God's intervention, but then we jump up from our prayer time to go do what we think is the right way to do something? And it may be, but what if it isn't?
Yesterday we went to New Balance to check our shoes for our upcoming walk. We tried on a few pairs and finally made a decision. When we got to the cash register though, I definitely was having second thoughts! We did get them, but later I was at Kohls looking at the same NB brand and discovering not only the shoes on sale, but I had a 20% off coupon to bring the price down even lower. I got a pair. But, this morning when I tried the new pair on (from Kohls), I just didn't think they felt right. So I put an old pair of Asics on to do our walk. I have determined I need to take both NB pairs back and look again at Asics. I like the way they feel, and for me, that is what I should do. One often thinks a big brand name should be the 'best', but it isn't. I prayed when I was at Kohls, and started to buy an Asics brand shoe, and at the last minute changed back to New Balance. (Hello? Guess I wasn't listening!) Now I have to start over.
What about you? Do you jump into situations with both feet or do you wait and see how God is going to move in that situation before you get involved? Do you always think it is about YOU, and what YOU think should happen? Do you think the 'law' should always be laid down by you?
I remember being told when I was growing up that "the husband is the head of the house, and what he said was law." That statement being drilled into me while growing up has caused me more conflict than anything. It has nothing to do with God being head of the man, or of the house. It merely stated that my step-father was in charge and anything he did or said was 'right'. And it was so wrong. Another long story for another time.
I'm just wondering who do you think is in charge of your life. In charge of your job. In charge of your home. Sure, there may be other people you 'report' to, but ultimately 'who's in charge'?
Colossians 3:23-24 says....... 'Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
I think that means exactly what it says. "Whatever you do". Whether you lead a church, work at a job, volunteer, have a home and family. Everything you do; whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.
Will you fail sometimes to do the right thing? Yeah. But Jesus doesn't play favorites so if you ask Him, He will forgive you and be happy to help you through each and every struggle, each and every day. Take some time to evaluate your life. Who have you let be in charge.... and does that need to change.
Blessings!

Getting on-track
We are getting on track. Not literally, but getting things in place. Yesterday we walked over 10 miles in our training (yep, still doing that). Still need to kick our pace up, but are doing pretty well at it. We have learned we need to start earlier in the Arizona heat. We went at 8:30AM and finished up around 11AM. We were drained - or at least I was! Tomorrow when we go for our walk, I think we will try for 6:30AM and do our quiet time after our walk instead of before.
Today we also met with one of the associate pastors at church whom we are working with on pulling together discipleship classes. We spent over two hours with him, going over what they are looking for and what we can offer. I had already ordered a couple books on Discipleship and was able to share what they are. I left them with the pastor for his review. It looks right now that we will be able to facilitate the Discipleship classes - I'll start in August and Tom will begin a new class in January. It was suggested that we be referred to as 'spiritual life coaches'. Sounds pretty deep to me! I don't need a title - I just want to serve wherever and however I can. We need to pull together a blurb to put on a brochure so will be working on that. The good part is that we are plugging in and getting on track to do what we feel God is calling us to do. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve.
How are you serving? Are you plugging in and using the gifts and abilities that God has given you? What do you have, what can you do to serve? Perhaps it isn't at church, perhaps it is at a school, or in a "soup kitchen". What can you do to help?
Use your gifts and abilities. That is why they are given to you. Are you "on track"?
Blessings!

Easter Memories...and a new week.
Yesterday we skipped the 'Sunrise Service' at 8AM (really?) and arrived at church during the breakfast time. Loved the opportunity to visit with many that we don't get to see often. After that we met for prayer with our Pastor and some of the others that pray with us, and then went to church services.
After church we hurried home to get our food stuff and head over to our daughter's house, where everyone was meeting up. It was so fun to get to see 9 of our grandchildren - and yes, we got photos! We had a great time of eating, laughing and just chatting about things going on. Oh - and laughing when four-five of us were sitting there playing Words with Friends with each other.
And it was good to get home. Didn't realize how tired I was until after we got home. Too much good food, I think! It was a great time and I loved having my grandchildren all there. I even got a photo of my three princesses! I realized later that I don't have any of all the 'princes' together. Need to work on that one!
Today started a new week of training for Tom and I. We didn't get up as early as we had planned but did get up by 6AM to do our quiet time, have something light for breakfast, then headed out to the canal to walk. We decided we need to move our walking time to much earlier. I still got sunburned even in the morning hours. By the time we were finished - 10.09 miles today - we were worn down probably more by the heat than by the walk itself. I have already drank a gallon of water since we got home. I'll be up all night, probably! :-) It was 79 degrees when we finished. Our speed wasn't as great as we hoped, but we are still working on it. Three weeks to go.
Back to Easter, what was your favorite part of the day? Of course we will say it is the meaning of the day - Resurrection Day, or Resurrection Sunday. As I pondered that in my quiet time before we left for church, I realized how sometimes we just pass it off. Of course we don't ignore Easter - after all, what else will we do with all the Easter eggs for the children to hunt? Oh, and the chocolate. And the Ham. Interesting, isn't it, Jesus was a Jew and Jews don't eat pork. But we do. And some Jews, but that is another story. But what do we do with Jesus? Easter is over now so do we put Him in a box until next year?
I think not. Jesus lives within those of us who are believers. He is a vital part of our every moment. When we let Him have full control, He leads us beside still waters, and restores our soul. What He did on the cross, has given us life - and not only just life, but abundant life. We aren't perfect, but He is. He doesn't condemn us when we fall. He won't knock you down just because you scream at your spouse and children. He won't disown you because you don't tithe to Him. He loves you, and He loves me, unconditionally. Life would not be worth living without Him being in it. Think about that. When things get really tough, He is the One who stands beside you and walks with you on the journey. Take some time this week to talk with Him, tell Him thank you. He did all this, for you.
I had fun making matza ball soup and charoses for my Jewish neighbor. She is unable to do a lot of things, but her brother in law came down and they did a Seder Passover meal Friday night. That was cool. When I called her on Saturday, she said she didn't get either soup nor charoses, so I was pleased to make them for her. Not for me, but because it is her heritage. I did forget one thing though. I also took over two graham cracker treats - and just as I was offering them to her I remembered - wheat! So - I took them back home with me. Maybe they will find their way back to her house in a week.
I pray that you had a Blessed Easter day and that the meaning of Easter touched your heart.
Blessings!

Episode 2 ..... and an addendum to yesterday
www.youtube.com
Listed above is Episode 2 from Not a Fan author Kyle Idleman. If you have not read his book, you simply must. But first, watch this video.
What does it mean to be a follower of Christ? What does it mean to call Jesus 'Lord'? What would it mean if you chose to follow Jesus, to let go of the things of this world, and be obedient to Him alone?
I mentioned yesterday that our church did not have a Maundy Thursday service, and no foot washing service. I need to make a correction to my statement.
Last night North Hills Church and Reunion Community Church had a combined Good Friday service. It was a very moving and touching service. After the service, we were invited to go to another room on campus and participate in a foot washing service.
Part of me was reluctant. Tom and I had walked over 8 miles in the sun yesterday and I had a headache that was still lingering, and I didn't feel that great. But, because I mentioned it here yesterday, and because I love the symbolism of it, we chose to go.
I'm glad I did. I had the honor of washing the feet of my adopted aunt. 'Aunt Mae' and 'Aunt Sue' came for the foot washing as did a few other women I know. It was an amazing, bonding time as we shared the time together, singing and washing each other's feet. As I knelt to wash Aunt Mae's feet, I was able to tell her how much I love her. Some of you will recall we recently celebrated Aunt Mae's 99th birthday. She commented that this was the first time I had washed her feet. Aunt Mae has always been so popular I probably couldn't get close to her fast enough to do it. But I got to last night. A treasured memory of the moments and words we shared.
Whose feet have your washed lately? Have you taken time to give your child kudos and tell them how proud you are of them? You are washing their feet. Have you spoken kindly to your spouse and told them they are of great value? Not just on an anniversary or a birthday or a special occasion, but just on any day? Have you washed their feet lately?
It isn't all about you getting your feet washed by others.... Jesus doesn't mention any of the disciples washing His feet. But the Bible shares that Jesus knelt down, one by one, and washed His disciples' dirty, filthy, feet. Feet that had walked the dusty roads, fields, paths.
Whose feet are you washing?
Blessings!

Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter thoughts....
Found the above link on Facebook yesterday from Completely Committed Followers. With today being Good Friday and Easter on Sunday, just thought I would add this to my blog.
This is the first year in awhile that we haven't gone to a Maundy Thursday service. I miss that. Our church didn't have one this year. What do we do on Maundy Thursday? It is usually a time when we (separately, men and women) read the story of what we call the Last Supper, or Passover Meal of Jesus and His disciples. In John 13, Jesus washes the disciples' feet.
John 13 New King James Version (NKJV)
13 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.
2 And supper being ended,[a] the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him, 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, 4 rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. 6 Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?”
7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.”
8 Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!”
Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”
9 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”
10 Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” 11 For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean.”
12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. 16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
I read from a friends' note this morning on Facebook a comment that also gives some thought. She asked a student what his favorite holiday was. He said Good Friday. She asked why, and he responded "Because it was the day my sins died".
Wow. It takes the meaning of Easter and really sums it up. From the Passover Meal to the cross to the tomb to the resurrection.
Friday's here......... but Sunday's coming!
May you have a blessed weekend, looking forward to Resurrection Sunday!
Blessings!

It's hooked up - Episode 1 - and God's awesomeness
Yea! Direct TV came out this morning and hooked up my new TV, the VCR and the DVD players. I'm all set in my office now! I love that I can actually see the TV from the treadmill now that we moved both. Still walking the canal when I can get hubby to go with me - and when not, the treadmill it is. Still training.
I saw a you tube showing earlier today from Not a Fan. Episode 1. It is about 35 minutes long, but well worth watching. Puts how you live your life in perspective, I think. When you can find the time, take the time to watch.

Spending a lot of extra time lately praying for different things. This being what some call 'Holy Week', our church is asking people to pray 24x7 this week. Tom and I took several different timeframes, most of which we are doing here at home. The one time we will be at church we aren't even signed up for - but Tom will be doing security and I offered to spend time in the prayer room. We have it figured out - we have security/prayer duty from midnight to 2AM - then we are actually signed up to pray from 5-6 AM the very next morning! We decided when we pull that shift, we will just go to Denney's for breakfast and drink lots of coffee in order to stay awake until 6AM. Then will probably crash until noon!
One of the things we specifically are praying for is a miracle healing of a dear friend, Kathryn. She has cancer and it has spread in her body. We believe that God can do a complete and total healing in her. And as a church, that is what we are praying for. Would appreciate your prayers for Kathryn as well. Stay tuned.
Another thing I am praying for is a financial miracle for our church. I've read many stories where people give money to a church to pay off the mortgage, or to build a community center at the church. Well, we would like to do both. I believe that God can raise someone up who will pay off our mortgage, and who will give us the money to build the community center free and clear. That is what I am praying for, and I'm sure there are others praying for that as well. If God can do that for other churches, and our church reaches out to the community and serves the community by working with the schools, the homeless, etc., why would He not do it for us?
I believe our God can do anything and everything! I have seen healings take place and I have watched as God provided in times of need. Nothing God does amazes me, but He does cause me to be awestruck just to hear of His love for us.
What about you? Do you have stories to tell of God's amazing love? I would love to hear them! If you could ask God for a miracle, what would it be? What would you ask Him for, and could believe Him for? Do you really believe God will answer your request? I do - and I'm willing to pray for it with you. Wanna share?
Blessings!

A new month....a new journey
March is already gone and here it is April 3rd already! Yesterday was my niece and little brother's birthdays. Can't believe my little brother is already 60 years old! When did he get to be so old? I certainly haven't gotten older. :-)
I spent yesterday working in my office. I put together my new TV cabinet/stand that I bought a few weeks ago, and added the TV which I bought in January, to the mount. Have Direct TV scheduled forWednesday to put all the wires together. I could probably do it, and I know my sons and son-in-law can as well, but I guess it is just easier to have them come out and hook everything up. I also got the desk taken down that I want to give to my youngest son when he gets his own place. Or before, if he has a place to put it. Tom helped move my treadmill to another corner -- and I like it much better there! Still have a lot to go through and get rid of, but I can see progress! When I get my new TV hooked up, then I can move the bulky "old" TV and cabinet out... will have to find a place to store it until my son can take it - but the room is really starting to open up. Finally! I've had this on my 'to do' list for years.
After doing all the work in my office yesterday, I got on the treadmill and walked 5.14 miles. We are in the last month before the mini-marathon and have to really push to get in shape. I'm grateful I'm not working so that I can put the time in. Even so, at times it is difficult. We will be heading out shortly to see how far Tom can walk. He has really slacked off this past month and if he doesn't push himself, he will not be in shape to do the walk. But, with strained muscles you can't do much walking until they heal. He thinks he is better now and has been stretching for several days. We did walk one day last week nearly 4 miles and he did ok. He wants to try for six today. I hope we make it. If not, I'll have to get on the treadmill again. I am determined I will complete the walk, God willing that is! It certainly won't be in my own power, but in His. I know I can not walk any distance without His help and His pushing my legs to go.
So how is your exercise routine going? I'm sure most of you started 2012 with the thoughts that you would either begin or continue your own program and do a little more than you did last year. How's that going? I can say I have already walked more in 2012 (training walks) than I did in 2011! My bro figured out he walked over 1000 miles this past year. How awesome is that! I'd like to make that my goal for this year - but I would have to do a lot more walking - but then again, I still have nearly nine months minus three days.
Sometimes we depend upon ourselves to complete tasks or walks or races. We think to ourselves "we can do this".... and we can, but have you thought to call on God to help you? Even with putting the cabinet together yesterday I was asking God to give me the wisdom to figure out the instructions to put it together (and He did!). He helps me in my trials, He helps me in my walks, He helps me just to get through some really, really, rough days. All we have to do is call on Him and He will answer us. Of course we need to be obedient too, and do things that are good, and not bad.
People grumble about the public display of the Ten Commandments. God did not give them to us as suggestions. He gave them to us as Commandments. Why? To bless us and to bring good to us. Take time to sit down and read them in Deuteonomy 5. In verse 29 it says "Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!" Did you notice the 'so that'? When you read your Bible, notice those two words. God gives us the command, then a so that, which describes what will happen when you do it. As in this verse above, if we fear God and keep His commands always, (so that) it might go well with us and our children forever. It is His promise to us.
The commandments are not for our harm, but to bring us good. Take some time to review them, see which ones you need to work on. 2012 is still fresh. Resolve today to keep all of God's commandments, so that it might go well with you and your children, forever.
Blessings!

Passover Seder Dinner
What an awesome experience - and how the Jewish people can not see Jesus Christ as the Messiah through the symbolism of the Passover Seder meal simply amazes me! The entire Seder meal identifies Jesus as the Lamb that was slain for you, and for me.
We have been to Passover Seder meals before, but the one we attended tonight at North Hills Church and officiated by Rabbi Jack Zimmerman - wow. It brought so much meaning to the entire meal. He shared continuously how the scriptures of the Old Testament and how things were done at the Passover Seder meal were pointing to Jesus.
If you haven't attended one before, you may still be able to find one to attend since Passover isn't until Friday, April 6th. We Christians don't always do it on the 'Passover' day as the Jews use their calendar to determine what the day is. If you want to understand more of what it is about, you can also google Seder Dinner or Passover and you can read up about it.
North Hills Church is also having prayer 24 hours/day for this week. We have the 11PM-midnight shift tonight. It is an honor to be a part of a praying church and looking forward to this coming Sunday when we have our "sunrise service" at 8AM, then breakfast at 8:30AM, with our morning service starting at 10:30AM. If you are looking for a church to attend, come join us. North Hills Church's address is 15025 N. 19th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85023. We would love for you to join us.
God is so good. From the fall of Adam, He provided for us a sacrifice, His very own Son, Jesus. God provided for us His Lamb. Free of sin, unblemished. His life given, His blood poured out, just for us.
Take some time today to read what is called the 'Easter story' in the Bible. All four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) share about Jesus' death on the cross. I once read in a book of a man who portrayed Christ in a movie, that he felt that Jesus literally crawled to the cross and laid down upon it. His death would mean nothing had he been dragged and forced on the cross. Or if He had died before He got to the cross. But picture Him crawling, after being beaten so severely and cruelly, crawling to the cross and lying down on it, to complete His mission.
Easter isn't about a bunny hiding eggs. It's about believing in the Son of the Living God, and acknowledging His body broken for us, His blood shed for us. He asks nothing in return, He paid the price. He did it for you, and He did it for me. Jesus took all our sins upon Himself and marked our lives as....
PAID IN FULL. We don't have to buy anything. The sacrifice for our sins has been paid.
Plan now to attend an Easter service somewhere and reflect upon the sacrifice made for you by the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
Blessings!
