I slacked off somewhat mid-afternoon because I just didn't want to work anymore. Now I have that facing me this morning. But it also will have to be delayed for a few hours. I have an 8AM test and retest of a body part so will be heading over there about 7:30AM to get in line to get it done. No big deal, but doctor wants it done. My hip is bothering me again this morning; I did sleep through most of the night but it did wake me once and I moved until it stopped hurting. The bites are starting to go away, I think; I keep putting a cream on them. So there are my medical things this morning. This should be all my medical appointments - other than dental - until the end of the year. Unless the dermatologist sees something in the biopsy he took off my neck a week ago - haven't gotten the results from it yet. Not worried though. But, if my leg continues to hurt, I may make a doctor's appointment too. Wish I could figure out what is going on with it.
Today is Boss's day. When I met my favorite boss for her birthday earlier this month, I gave her a couple small gifts for boss's day. I will e-mail her a card this morning. My male boss I ordered a danish for. Will send him a card later as well. Although I support 4 + people, these two I consider my 'real bosses' as they are the 'chief's' of their trade. I will send an e-card to the others.
One of my friends is an author of historical romance novels. Now I don't usually take the time to read many romance books anymore, and haven't read all of hers, but read several. Each month in her blog she promotes another author and when you respond to her question, you get put in the drawing for the book. This month I won! Whoo Hoo! I will sit down and read it for I do enjoy the romance novels. I have read several of my friend's books, but not all of them. When I retire, maybe I can. They are fun and keep my interest; I just end up crocheting more than reading cause hubby will have the TV on most evenings. And, who does have time for pleasure reading anymore? I may get my book on Friday as my hubby meets a group of men on Friday mornings and her hubby is one of them.
Today is my youngest son's 50th birthday. When did he get so old? I can easily remember when he was born. Because he was my third child, and my labors never went long, and we were a ways from the hospital, that Tuesday night I was 'feeling something' the doctor said to go on to the hospital Unlike his two siblings that were late in arriving, this one seemed to want to come early as he was due October 31st. And, back then, we had no idea what sex the baby was. Seems so long ago as they find out by blood tests nowadays!
We go to the hospital and nothing was happening so they told me to walk up and down the halls. So hubby and I did that. My friend, Bertie, kept our other two children for us. Up and down, up and down, until we both finally just wanted to sleep. Shortly after 9AM the doctor came in to check me out. He broke the water and said he was going to go get a cup of coffee and then would come back and see where we were at.
Well, this little one must have known the doctor had walked our of the room cause he literally stood up in my belly, did a flip, and was on his way out! I was startled to say the least, and hubby yelled for the nurse. They doctor had gotten as far as the elevator so came rushing back in. The nurse came in and pushed the ether mask over my face and I was out of it. What we hadn't known, because we didn't do ultrasounds or scans back then, this little guy must have been feet first. He literally stood up and did a flip in order to come out. I think this is where I say 'Thank You, Jesus!' cause I know that would have hurt! But he was the smallest of all three, and the shortest.
So happy birthday to my youngest son. He doesn't read my blog so I will be texting him in a bit. I've already prayed for him this morning....sigh.... Lord knows he needs it! And I'll leave it at that. He is a smart man, but doesn't use common sense - if that makes sense at all. So proud of his service in the US Army. I know he wanted to follow in his dad's footsteps.... I could say more, but I'll leave it there. He has his hands full right now. He's made a lot of stupid choices, but he has also made good choices. And I'm trying to be positive here. 50 years old. I thank God that He has protected him all these years. This child 'gets me' the most at times. He has the most sensitive heart for others. And yet.... how I know he could be so much more if he would just apply himself. Lord Jesus, protect him in his stupidity today... open his eyes to see You and to turn back to You. He has so much to live for; so much to share. Open his eyes, Lord, and help him to see You. Let him see how he lives his life influences his children and grandchildren.
Yesterday I was in my 'want to retire' mode again. Oh- I got a raise yesterday. No, I didn't tell hubby. It is probably just enough to throw us in the next tax bracket; it usually is. That means it always comes out less. It was a 'market survey rating' and they moved me up in salary. I will admit that I make good money for sitting at home and doing what I do. It would be hard to give it up, that's for sure. But there is so much more to life than money; so much more I want to do. But then, I am unable to live my dreams so guess I just need to keep working.
Psalm 19:14 (NKJV): Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
So many times I have to think about that verse and then think about the words that come out of my mouth. Many times I have to eat the words that have come out. Ever have that happen to you? Say things that you wish you hadn't said; done things that you wish you hadn't done? Yeah, I'm right there with you. Things that seemed funny at the moment, all of a sudden don't seem so funny. Many times I just have to shut my mouth as I want to say more than I should. (erase erase). There I go again.
Our words should always be uplifting and wholesome for the person we are talking about. Encouraging. Strengthening. What is that other scripture?
Luke 6:45 (NKJV): A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of his heart his mouth speaks.
Matthew 15:18 (NKJV): But those things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.
"Out of the heart, the mouth speaketh". Remember that saying? When we say cutting and defiling words, they are things we have hidden in our heart. Replace those words with good things, with good words, with uplifting and encouraging words. Sometimes people just want to know they are valued. That can change their life if they know others think good of them. But when we cut them down to make us look better, or to put them down even in jest, we look small, and they feel worthless. The blame is on us. We need to take heed of the words - and our actions - that we do and say.
Words can build up or they can destroy. We don't like it when it's done to us. And believe it or not, I've had my share of condemnation from others. It hurts. It changes us. I am not even who I was ten years ago. My heart was broken and it has never recovered. Let's not do that to others.
Wow - not sure where all that came from this morning. Guess I'm feeling it in the heart so just let some things come out. When we do speak of it, sometimes it helps us to heal. Let it go. Lord, Help. Change me to be more like You and a lot less like me. Others do not define me. You do. Your opinion matters, Lord. I will listen to You.
Blessings!
