While I have Needles of Hope here this morning for breakfast - hubby just isn't sure what to do. He was going to go get his car washed, and I forget what else he had said. This morning he asked if he could just grab some breakfast and come in here and read while they are here. And that's fine. I told him he doesn't have to come here in 'my office, he is welcome to stay out in 'his office' which is much roomier and more open. His choice; I don't really care.
My head is hurting this morning and this time it is after one of my major ocular migraines. They are so annoying. I'll take an Excedrin soon and it will make it all go away. I figure I have a little bit of time before I need to start pulling things together. Not fixing much for breakfast, really. Eggs ole, bacon, and some fruit. I did make a very small jar of cranberry strawberry jam for each one that comes. I'm thinking maybe 4-6 - but could go to 7. Will see. I asked my friend if more would come if we had it back at Panera - and it would be ok with me - but she said no, several had already told her they were busy this weekend. We usually average 4-6 some months anyway. I plan on fixing more than enough so that I can share with Ms. Vicky and Ms. Diane too, later today. And some for us as well, of course.
Oh - I did try a new recipe last night and made pumpkin scones! It wasn't that hard to do, but I think I will half the recipe next time. I hope some take home with them. I even put icing on them. Yeah, we'll have them today as well. Hubby says they are good; he even asked for 'another one' last night after we got back from the dance rehearsal. Our little princess was adorable, but the little girl would not smile when we tried to get a photo with her! Mama had to give her some strong words just to get her to look at the camera. She was being onery! But we did get one photo and that's ok. That's our little princess in one of her moods. Of course she would NOT have gotten these moods from me, right?
It's hard to believe it has already been a week since we have gotten back from Jailbreak. It's been a busy work week, although yesterday wasn't bad. Had breakfast with my boss, picked up a combo box on the way home, and then only had a little bit to do all afternoon. And I baked Pumpkin Scones while I waited for meetings to happen. Of course I could have started on the minutes from the board meeting, but naw, I have two months.... I'll do them later. :-)
Have you ever paused and just thought about the goodness of God? As I sit here thinking about what to write, I am looking out my window at the pigeons (which I don't like!) fly into our courtyard and walk around freely; I look at my lemon tree, my dead rose bushes (sigh) and I think about all the beautiful things that God has created for us to enjoy. He gave men and women wisdom to create things as well. They certainly couldn't have done it without Him! We are too stupid to do things on our own; we NEED God to help us think things through!
Ah! Our neighbors next door much have decided to stay - the for sale sign is gone from their front yard. My daughter and I were talking about it last night; I noticed on Zillow it was down to $315K from $469K - in checking, it was taken off the market so the price reverted back to their purchase price. She did see they have put $130K into the house with all the remodeling. If I had $130K sitting around I wouldn't remodel; I'd think about retirement! Oh yeah, they are already retired.
My favorite boss says she is pretty firm about retiring on August 1, 2026. I've resigned myself that I may be working for awhile; at least until after my boss retires. If the house was paid off, perhaps I could, but.... what would I do all day? At least with work I am doing something productive (most days) right? Yeah, I'm rambling now.
My mind isn't coming up with a specific verse to share this morning so think I will close this off. I need to get dressed and start thinking about how and what time I need to start things. It will be good to have friends over. And I love to cook, so it's a win-win for me, right?
Hope you have an amazing day!
Blessings!
