My longing to run away won...

and here hubby and I are in a hotel in Gilbert.  We drove down last night and will be staying until Sunday.  I just had to get away - even with hubby.  Sigh.  But a positive is that we are on the third floor and when we open up the window, all this bright light comes in and here I sit, next to it, enjoying the brightness and the outdoors.  Hubby sits at the desk and es==yes, he has already driven me crazy.  Part of the reason I decided on coming down this morning is the hour drive to Gilbert from home.  And the hour drive back.  Which isn't bad if one knows where they are going - and I'm not sure.  And I knew hubby wanted to get out and away, and of course I felt somewhat guilty.  So - here we are.  I don't need to leave until about 11:30 now since the restaurant is only about 15 minutes away.  Otherwise I would have had to leave the house at 10:30 to ensure I could get here on time.  Decided to just stay until Sunday cause we would have had to check out at 11 and then what would hubby do for the next 3 hours until I was finished.  Now he can either go to Barnes and Noble and look at books (my favorite thing to do) or come back here and take a nap until I'm ready to be picked up.

I got my 'talk' finished and it is on journaling.  Imagine that.  Yes, I enjoy journaling, although I have slacked off of it quite a bit compared to what I used to do.  I share most of my life in here anyway, right?  I still want to throw the journals away.... but.... will at least go through them and see what I wrote.  I am trying to get back in to writing again, but think my 'problem' is that in the mornings I need 45-60 minutes some days when I write in here... and then there is no time to reflect and write in a journal.  So since I write in this about every day now, I skip the journaling.  Anyway - I will be sharing about journaling.

Yesterday I nearly forgot what was on my calendar!  I'm running late because I wrote in here yesterday. At 7AM I'm getting on the work computer - still in my jammies.  I go through about 20 emails that had arrived after I got off the day before.  Then I casually glance over at the calendars to see what is on tsp - and discover I was scheduled to have breakfast with my boss!  Yipes!  I jump up (it's 7:20AM now) and get dressed, throw some make-up on, brush my teeth, brush my hair, and out the door I went.  She beat me by about two minutes.  LOL  And that's all good.  We spent a couple hours catching up and then headed back to our homes.  Work was crazy again yesterday and I was trying to get off early with wanting to come out here - and my male boss decided to start sending me things to do right when I was getting ready to jump off.  I told him to quit it, I was leaving early!   Why does he like to wait until 5 minutes before I get off to send me meetings to schedule?!  I left the one he sent and figured I can do it on Monday.

Didn't sleep well here last night and am not sure why.  Partly because hubby couldn't get comfortable, I guess.  In the past I have always slept well (I've stayed here before) and last night was not a good night. I was awake off and on throughout the night.  It's odd cause I didn't wake up sleepy, I'd wake up like I had slept all night and it was only like an hour after the last time I looked at the clock. One time I started to get up and it was only 12:30AM!

We've been downstairs already to have breakfast and brought up another cup of coffee.  Although they have k-cups here in the room, the coffee was somewhat weak - must have been the 'light' kind.  Reminds me of what my oldest brother used to say.  "I like my coffee strong - just like I like my women."  Well, there was more to it, but I'll leave that alone.

Hubby picked up his pill prescription only to find out the wrong order was sent.  This one was sent for nausea..... he needs one to offset side effects.  Now we wait to see if the insurance will approve.  He also goes to get an EKG next week.  The process is starting, and I feel he is scared to death.  Maybe I shouldn't word it that way.  Let's jus tsay it's scary.

Psalm 121:7-8 (NKJV):  The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and for evermore.

Did you know that the Lord protects His own?  He even protects people that are not living for Him.  He does.  Think about a time that you were not following Him and something happened.  Do you really think that what happened - and perhaps you weren't killed - that it was not by God's hand that you were rescued?  I think about my past and the things I did and of all the times that my life could have been ended.  Serious things could have happened.  And yet, the Lord, in His great mercy for me, kept me from harm and protected me.  He does that for you as well.  Be grateful and take a moment and thank Him.

I think I'm all ready for the 'talk' today at noon.  It won't be long, but I haven't been told how long I have to speak and actually, I haven't been told a whole lot other than my friend got a 'private room' for the group (last I heard it was 17 confirmed going out of 30 invited), and it was scheduled for two hours.  Now at least one hour will be just chatting and ordering and eating, I'm guessing.  I have no clue.  My talk might be 15 minutes.  Don't want to bore anyone.  I did stop and pick up a couple blank journals from Ross to give away.  Now to figure out how to give them.  Ah - just had an idea.  I know she invited 30.... so I will write out 30 numbers and put in one of the cups.  Let everyone draw a number and throughout the time I'm 'sharing', I can call a number and that person can come grab a book (I have 3 that I have duplicates of) or journal (I bought 2 to give away).  Yeah, I think that may work!

Keep it interesting, right?  I forget the names of the three books.  One is Draw the Circle by Mark Batterson (I still have two extras at home).  Another is One Thousand Gifts  by Ann K something.  The other is..... A Woman After God's Heart by Elizabeth George.  I've read Draw the Circle numerous times and am getting ready to read it again.  The one copy I have is so marked up, I am thinking about starting a clean book and start marking it up as well. Could you challenge yourself to 40 days of reading this book?  I have one for you if you will.

It's nice not to have to rush around and get dressed this morning, and even nicer not to have to worry about checking out and dragging our things with us.  One more night here - sure hope that we sleep better tonight!  And then we will head home tomorrow. We can watch our church services here on my computer.  Or on our phones.  Or just be quiet and be alone with God.  Sigh. I have too many distractions.

Think I will try to finish my reading now.  We stopped to go downstairs to eat breakfast.  One reason I stay in places like this - you know how hubby loves to eat - and has eat when he wants it!  Breakfast starts at 6:30 and we headed down about 6:35 this morning.  Omelets, turkey sausage, pork sausage, oatmeal, cereals, fruit, yogurt, bagels, cinnamon rolls, waffles, toast..... lots of good food.  Coffee is good too.  I am still stuffed and I couldn't eat all I did get.  Oh yeah - juices too.

Hope that you have a good day - stay tuned - will let you know how today goes - tomorrow!

Blessings!
