It can be an interesting week....

I think I mentioned at one point or so last week that this week is going to be different than most.  The main doctor I'm covering for my friend is on vacation this week.  Wednesday, my favorite boss and the male boss both leave on vacation; one on a 10 day cruise and the other to Utah for a family reunion. Thursday and Friday, two other people I support will also be on vacation for a few days.  In other words, Wed-Thur-Fri I will have NO bosses working!  Woot!  But, I know I will be busy!  My male boss had me working late last Friday as we went through contracts and checking to see which ones I need to terminate.  There is no rush to get them done, but I will have plenty of time to work on them those three days.  Plus I plan to 'play' some.  Play?  Yes, I'm taking off for lunch with an 'old' friend on Wednesday, Thursday I plan to pick up lunch and go visit Ms. Diane.  Friday, I plan to - after my dentist appointment in the morning, try to have lunch with Ms. Vicky.  It's been 3-4 weekends since I've visited either.  I don't like feeling guilty I have not been over, but sometimes I just don't want to visit but to hibernate at home. I should take to calling and touching base, but have not.

Yesterday seemed to fly by.  We had our church yesterday morning.  Came home and fixed lunch.  Hubby got a phone call from Pastor Don, who we were helping with an afternoon service, asking if I ha gotten his text.  I hadn't looked at my phone so got it out of my purse and yes, I had his message.  He was asking if I would take care of the communion at the afternoon service.  Sure, I could do that.  We finished eating and headed over to the facility.  We had 42 people come to the 'service' at this facility.  LOL  Unfortunately (or fortunately), many have hearing difficulties as, although it is an independent living facility, it's an over 65 community which means many cannot hear or use hearing aids.  And we did not have microphones.  I actually felt like I was yelling so that the people in the back of this large room could hear me.  I told them it was my sweet, soft, Tennessee voice.  cough cough

As I stood back on the sidelines I noticed a microphone in a basket under a table.  After the service, I asked the person in charge about it. I was told the microphone was used for board meetings.  So - I asked if I could use it for next week since I was the one speaking in Pastor Don's place.  They were going to inquire for me.  As a back-up, I have ordered from Amazon a microphone that I think may work that was inexpensive.  Using it will be better than trying to project my voice.  Since I am doing the service next Sunday, I need to work on a message, select a few songs, type out the words to the songs, and find a CD to play for them to sing with.  Glad I have the three days at the end of this week to 'dabble' with finding what I need.  I can take one of the messages I've done before and shorten it. Now to just pray about which one.

By the time we finished up yesterday afternoon and returned home, it was around 3:30PM.  I fixed chicken chili for dinner and we ate it watching a movie.  Hubby kept telling me I needed to take a nap, but I kept saying 'no'.  LOL  WHO wanted a nap yesterday?   No, he didn't nap either.  He watched NCIS and the news before we watched the movie.   Went to bed at our usual time and slept good, so I guess we can say it was a 'good day'.

Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV):  A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Raise your hand if you know that is true!  See me waving mine over here?  And sometimes it isn't just the tone, it is the attitude in which it is spoken, right?  I can say 'yes, dear' quite harshly (and rudely).  My sarcasm is not lost on hubby, believe me.  He got the answer he wanted, ('yes dear') but not in the tone or attitude he wanted.  I do the eye roll best.... it doesn't get seen quite as often and it doesn't make noise.  What is that saying that my mother taught me?  "Watch the words that you speak, for you don't know which ones you'll have to eat".  Or something like that.  How many times have we said something that we ended up having to apologize for because 1) we didn't have all the facts, or 2) we said them in such a way that was cruel?   (and why is it that when I think of these things, a specific 'family member' always comes to mind?)

I often think of another saying my mother always said....  "Oh the web that we weave, when we practice to deceive".  Remember that one?  Don't tell lies or untruths, for you will find yourself having to say more lies to cover up the one you told in the first place.  And they know you are lying!!  It's better to own up and just tell the truth - then you don't have to make up stories.  And we know people who will take the truth and make it a bad thing because it was spoken to them and they think it was terrible to be 'called out'.  Ugh. Relationships.  We all need to work on them, don't we?

And we need to remember that even when someone or some thing frustrates us, rather than respond in anger or sarcasm, respond with a soft voice, for that (sometimes) will keep the person it was directed at from responding in their own hurt feelings.  People who know the truth about themselves can respond in various ways.  Some will acknowledge the truth spoken and grow from it; others will take it and make themselves a victim and the truth becomes a 'bad thing'.

I know when I am frustrated with hubby and don't watch the tone of my voice, he will respond in anger.  Or he will call me out.  Many times it isn't even him that has frustrated me.  Sometimes it is just my frustration of my having to work while others get to play.  Other days I am ok with working (I do like the paycheck and going without it will create a hardship on me (not on hubby, he will not even notice the difference).  I have to pray frequently that I work in a good frame of mind so that I don't allow my frustration at working ... well, you all have read my stories before about that.  My favorite boss is getting her kitchen totally remodeled complete with new appliances, so she says it will be two years before she will retire; she wants to finish remodeling her house.  They are totally out of debt otherwise so that isn't a problem.  So, if she is working two more years, I suppose I can... we always said we'd retire together.  Unfortunately, that doesn't keep me from whining, does it?  There is nothing I need to retire for.  We can never do the travel bit; and sitting at home doing my crafts can get boring.  I would need to be volunteering somewhere, but then.... it opens up a whole nother bag of worms, right?

And, with that, I'm going to hush and close this off.  Take a pause before you respond and think about how you will respond to other people.  That is, if you do more than just grunt.  LOL  Try 'using your words'.

Blessings!
