this morning, my body is not only 'talking' to me, it is waiting until I move to 'scream' at me! My trainer took me through some tough things last night! The leg extension she started light. 25 pounds, six reps. Ok then she moved it to the next one. six reps. Ok. Then she moved it up again. Six reps. Ok (it's getting harder) Eventually she moved it up to 125 pounds - for six reps!! By then I'm really struggling! Then she went back down; again, six reps at each stop. Although I could tell the weight was lighter, the stress and numbness my legs felt - well, it didn't matter the weight was lighter. Then we moved on the putting a weight bar of about 40 pounds on my neck and side stepping on a stepper. Both sides twelve reps. Then it was squats holding a 20# barbell. Both three sets each. Then - push the sled! THREE times!! Back and forth. And it didn't matter how much the sled weighed by itself... she had 180 pounds sitting on it! But.I.Did.It. I will pay for it as the day goes by, I'm sure. I feel twinges already. But for a thirty minute workout, I got a lot done. And she gave me lots of compliments, telling me that I'm doing great. I don't believe her, but it's nice to hear. I keep getting told to quit comparing myself to 20 year olds. LOL Aren't I still 20 in my mind? And my body laughs and laughs.
I did refuse to cook dinner last night as I was just exhausted - so we stopped at Portillos for dinner. I got a (gasp!) chili polish dog (and enjoyed every bite of it) and hubby got a Greek salad. I was still hungry (after all, I didn't get fries), but I resisted after we got home. We read for a couple hours and then headed for bed about 8:15PM. BUT - in line with what I mentioned yesterday, I 'reset' my watch alarm to 4:30AM and I slept all the way through to then. I think part of it was I just was exhausted from working all day, then the workout, and then reading relaxed me. Plus I had a tart cherry juice before bed. It reduces inflammation in the body and does help give a good night's sleep. Hubby drank one too and since he didn't wake me up at 4 as he usually does, it must have helped him sleep as well. He didn't even wake me up during the night with his tossing and turning.
Hubby has his Bible study this morning and will be leaving in about 20 minutes. He did decide not to continue the Tuesday morning studies he was doing at a church nearby. I think he was getting bored with it, and although he had gotten acquainted with some in the group, he really had not made 'friends' with them. He didn't feel that connected. They broke for the summer, but he has already told them that he would not be back. In fact, he skipped the last month of classes I think. It's his decision.
This weekend I will need to focus on pulling a devotional together for next Saturday. That's when I meet up with my friend and her group of women in her Bible study in Gilbert. It's an hour's drive away, and hubby isn't too pleased I'm going alone, but I am. I'm a big girl, and I can drive it. After all, when I go to Mesa it is a 50 minute drive; what is another 10 minutes, right? He doesn't stress about my driving to Mesa. I think it is more he is being left home. LOL On a Saturday. During the day. Oh well, he can watch another John Wayne movie; he has gotten in to watching those lately.
James 4:2 (NLT): You don't have what you want because you don't ask God for it.
I think many of us would dispute that sentence. Don't we 'ask' God for everything? Don't we tell Him all we want and expect it? Ah, yes, I think we do. But, many times, we ask with the wrong motives, don't we? We ask for financial help - but then with what we do have, we spend foolishly. God has already provided us with the means to live comfortably, and yet, we take what He has given us and spend it on foolish things, neglecting the saving part for the times when life is tough. When the unexpected happens.
I know that I ask God for a lot of things. A.LOT. Most things aren't for me, though. I want it for my children and their families But most of all, I don't always pray for their finances, although I do that when I know they are going through a rough spell, but I pray more that they will be given wisdom to handle what they do have. Just because they get a big tax refund or come in to some money doesn't mean let's go on a trip and spend it or go get nails and toes done and spend it. It means take some of that money and put back for the times when things are really tough - instead of asking to borrow money you know it will be hard to pay back.
I am a big waster of money at times, I will admit it. I go shopping and spend a lot of on food (and hear me complain about it) - only if I buy fruits and veggies, they most times will be going to waste because I buy them for hubby cause he wants them, but then doesn't eat them. Or just one or two. I still have some peaches left in a box I bought last week (and gave away a majority of the box!) and I will be peeling and cutting up to put in the freezer this week. I didn't buy any combo boxes this week; still have fruit from last week. Maybe will go looking for them in the refrigerator and add to dinner.
Hubby has an 11AM doctor appointment today..... we haven't said too much because I am believing he is healed and things found before are no longer there. I will be going with him as this is a specialist that he was turned over to from the last visit with the other doctor. Today's visit will confirm that and then I may share. Like in the moving 'Facing the Giants' - we praise God when we win, we praise God when we lose. He gets all the glory, all the honor, all the praise. No matter what the end result is.
And that is how we should be living our lives. When we stop and think about it, all the glory belongs to God. He provides everything for us. He created each of us, including our children that are so much like us! He provides our jobs; He provides our homes; He provides our food - should we not take a moment and just thank Him for all that He provides for us? Be grateful. Take a moment and just thank Him for all He gives you. Even the tough times, He will walk with you through them. And in each fire you have to go through, each struggle, He is there - all the way to the other side. Keep trusting, keep believing, keep praising. He's worthy of it all.
Blessings!
