I really had plans to do something yesterday, but it never got done. We went to church and heard a great message by a visiting evangelist who is a friend of our pastor. Hubby wanted to go out to lunch on the way home, although I still had food I needed to cook. We stopped at Leo's Island BBQ I think it is called. I wanted to get and take home, but no, we had to eat there. (He must have been starving although I had fixed him a pancake/egg sandwich for breakfast.) They get way too much food (as they should for the price they charge) and I ate what I wanted of mine and waited while hubby continued eating. He ate about half of it, I'm guessing, then we boxed up both and took home. They have these compartment styrofoam containers with sections - one as white rice; one has macaroni salad, and the big one, on the bottom is cooked cabbage, carrots, etc. and on top of that, piled high, is the meat. Anyway - I ate a few bites of the rice and the cabbage and meat (meaning I finished it at dinner); hubby ate my macaroni salad. Plus his.
Anyway..... he started the game on TV and I sat down on the couch.... and he switched it to NCIS on ION. Was he afraid I'd watch a movie on my Kindle Fire like I did the day before and he didn't get to watch it as he was watching the game? Anyway, I crochet'd and we watched NCIS for about 6 episodes (yes, about 6 hours of watching NCIS with him not asking once if I'd like to watch a movie) before it was time for bed. Yes, I could have asked to turn it off, or I could have asked to watch a movie. But I do like NCIS and all I was doing was crocheting anyway. He had his eye on me and I was near him so he was happy. Sigh.
Today back to work and I have lots to do that I didn't complete on Friday about the boss' trip to Colorado in a couple weeks. I need to get it all done today because Wednesday morning I hope to be able to go have breakfast with my favorite boss and a friend who was a former CFO at a company I worked at before. I had told them it was 'iffy' for me because of the additional work load I have now. But, it would be nice to get away for a couple hours. Then again, I'll need to take next Monday morning off to go to the eye specialist (hoping the tests will determine my lightning bolt migraines cause, and on the 20th, I will be taking most of the afternoon off for a grandson's graduation. I'll have to see where I am work wise before I take it off for the breakfast, even though I will be with one boss, I still have other responsibilities.
It will feel like an exceptionally long day I'm afraid. Hubby woke me up at 1:15AM this morning with his nightly ritual of tossing and turning, and I struggled to get back to sleep, and although I'm sure I did, I know I was awake throughout the night, so I wasn't sleeping much. I did finally get up at 4AM and came in here and tried to sleep until hubby got up about 4:30AM (I hear him shuffling on the tile and it always wakes me up) and gets my coffee. I would do without the coffee, but it will begin a deluge of questions of why and every night and every morning asking if I wanted coffee. And I do enjoy my cup of coffee in the mornings. But it does interrupt my train of thought or my readings in the mornings. I may need to take a 'lunch break' today for a nap. One thing for sure, my children and grandchildren and great grandchildren are definitely prayed over! I may need two cups of coffee this morning.
James 1:2-3 (NKJV): My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
Do you realize how hard it is to be joyful when things are tough? Do you know people who are? I have seen people joyful when I knew they had nothing, were unemployed, were in hardship. Yes, they maintained a joyfulness that can not be explained, other than Jesus living within them. I want to be like that, but my patience runs thin many times - sigh - and I don't let my 'joyfulness' come out, but my 'grumpiness'. Same with you?
How can one be joyful when life is hard? How can one be joyful when struggles come? How can one be joyful when people put them down and slander them? It's so easy to fall into bad habits, isn't it - and allow the hatefulness of the world grab hold of our minds and attitudes and words. AH, those words. Unfortunately, once the words are out there in that bubble, there is no retracting them. You can't erase them like you can when you write them down. You can't pull the bubble back in to your mind. It's 'out there' and whomever they are said to, whatever the words are - good or bad - will carry them on their shoulders. That is why it is so important to build people UP and not tear people down and stomp on them.
Reminds me of what the evangelist said yesterday. But I can't remember it all and maybe will look it up and share tomorrow - touch your feet and say you are healed; and I forget the rest. Maybe I'll get it right in the morning. But it had to do with feet, hands, heart, and mind. Stay tuned on that one. When I run out of things to talk about (like that will happen??), maybe I'll look up the few notes I took.
I think I've quit thinking this morning about things to write so will close this off before you doze off. I have enough time that I can take the time to sit before Jesus and just be quiet. I love these mornings when I have time to do just that.
Psalm 46:10: Be still, and know that I am God.
Think I will be still and quiet, and let Jesus ......
Blessings!
