It's Friday.....but Sunday's coming!

 I touched on this topic yesterday, and even put a link at the bottom of the 'page' to hear the actual original sermon of "It's Friday....but Sunday's coming".  After I googled it to get the link, then I also listened to Ton Compolo's version of it.  Every time I listen to it, it stirs my heart for this weekend.  I pray that it also touched your heart.   If you don't want to copy and paste the link, google the title of this day, and take the time to listen to one of the versions of it.  Most are just over 3 minutes.  No other preaching in some, just this one message.... It's Friday..... but Sunday's coming!"

Today is Good Friday.  And yet, do you not wonder why we call it 'good'?  I do!  Jesus is beaten horribly, scourged, broken skin (but no bones!) and bruised, bleeding.... pushed/dragged down the road to where he will be nailed to a cross and slammed into the ground.  Have you ever thought about the pain that He had to endure?  Not just the nailing to the cross.... it actually was not in his palm, as we have been taught, but from what I have read, it is in his wrists, so that the nails did not slide through the hands.   His feet, put together and a nail driven through both.... can you even imagine?  The cross is picked up, dragged to the hole that was dug for it.... and then literally dropped into the hole upright.  The horrible pain that had to be felt as the cross was slammed into the ground.  Does not the thought of that grieve your heart?  That our Lord and Savior went through all that - for you?  He did, and He did it willingly.  He didn't fight it.  He didn't call down the legions of angels that were at His disposal to do so and rescue Him.  He allowed the soldiers to do whatever they wanted to do to Him.

Oh that we could be called worthy of His sacrifice for us!  We can never, in our own power, be worthy of anything that Jesus has done for us.  But the blood that He shed - for you and for me - covers every sin that we have ever done, when we confess it before Him and ask His forgiveness.  Jesus gave His life for you and for me, to make us worthy to live with Him forever.

What a wonderful, loving Savior!  What a forgiving and loving God!  What is holding us back from being totally His?  We will never be perfect; only Jesus is perfect.   Jesus has never said we had to be perfect to be His.  If we were, we wouldn't need Him.  But we are desperate for Him.  We need Him.  Take just a moment and surrender your life to Jesus.  

Tell Him you are sorry for the things you have done; you don't have to number and list them.  Trust me, He knows everything you have done.  He knows what you are going to continue to do.  But He is ready and willing to forgive you, as  you call on His Name.   Maybe you don't think you have been 'so bad'.  Doesn't matter.  We still need to ask for forgiveness for walking away from Him, and seek Him to take over our lives.

As D. L. Moody once said... "just imagine what God can do with a man who is wholly and completely surrendered to God."   I want to be that person wholly and completely surrendered to Him.
