Procrastination doesn't always work in your favor....

Or in my favor, for that matter.  Confession:  I am a procrastinator.  I always have been, and probably always will be.  I don't like being this way, but I am often enticed to do other things very easily, than what I should have been doing.

For example, my boss has given me homework in doing excel charts.  First time she gave it to me to create a line graph, a bar graph, and a pie graph.  No problem.  I did those easily enough, as I have mentioned before.  Then after she looked at them, she told me to do give percentages on the pie chart, cumulative on another, and something else on the other.  (thank goodness I kept her email so I know what I am supposed to do).

Then she took time off last week.  Which freed me up some.  But instead of working on the charts/graphs and figuring them out, I put it off to Thursday, then Friday, then over the weekend.  Over the weekend I'd rather crochet than work, right?  So here it is Monday morning and my boss is back to work, and I still haven't figured out the charts.  Guess what I will be working on first thing this morning?   I did do other things during the week, but it was easier to push this one project back to another date or time than do it.

Another procrastination that creeps up at times is unpacking these moving boxes.  But, in all fairness, I have unpacked many, and did get two more unpacked this weekend, and three last weekend, so I am making progress.   My stack of boxes is getting smaller, and that is what counts.

What do you procrastinate on?

I procrastinated all summer on getting sermons put together for this winter sessions at the RV parks too.  Oh, I have plenty of time, I told myself.  I have to have a draft and a title put together by next Sunday as I will be getting called for the title since I speak the following week.   My crocheting will have to take a backseat for a few days while I get that completed.  That has moved up to a priority in my time (along with the charts I have to work on.  Of course my work interferes with my spending more time on this so it will be my evening being filled.  I think I have one each month so will finish one and will be asking God what's next?

I woke up at 1:37AM this morning and could not go back to sleep until nearly 3AM.  I asked God who needs prayer and not getting a definite answer, continued to pray over my children until I fell back to sleep.  Wanted to go back to sleep this morning and did shut my eyes, but don't think I slept.  More of getting my eyes used to the light shining in them.

My devotional for today was really good.  It talked about learning.  Which is what I am supposed to be doing with excel.  Unfortunately, I don't really want to learn it, and that has created a roadblock.  But, I will learn it and will perhaps use it at some point.  I know this boss plans on me creating charts for her.  I don't wanna, but if I continue working, I have to do what the boss wants!

Learning.  One thing the devotional talked about and I am a avid complainer about, is that the television nowadays is nothing more than playing with your mind.  What do you learn?  Of course shows like 'Wheel of Fortune' gets you thinking as you try to figure out the words, or even 'Family Feud' which you try to guess the answer from 100 people that makes you try to think what the word is.  But are you learning anything of value?   Most shows do not cause you to learn anything.  They are strictly there for your entertainment.  Even the news shows have become somewhat entertaining, so that they can keep you watching that station for news and weather.

Books that we read..... are they entertaining, or do they teach you anything?  I made the decision years ago that I only wanted to read books that helped me.  Now, I have read books that didn't, but my choice is to read books that encourage me to be more than I am.  Which is why I still have a lot of books.  People want to read books that entertain them, not tell them how to live or how to keep your mind straight.  I couldn't give one of my books to my avid reader son - he'd never read it.  It isn't the kind of book he prefers.

Now the Bible, mind you, is full of murder right from the get-go.  It has jealousy, hatred, murder, adultery, rebellion, beatings, etc. all through it.  Yet, how many people read it?  There are some boring chapters in it, I admit.  I just finished Ezekiel and the chapters on how wide the tabernacle was just couldn't hold my interest.   But now I'm ready for Daniel and I honestly cannot wait.  In fact, I really want to do an indepth study on Daniel cause he writes about the things to come.  I may take time to look for a study on Daniel to do along with it because I want to learn more.

What?  Did I say I want to LEARN something?  See, things like that excite me.  I love to learn about the Bible and things that went on then.  I like to dive into the scriptures and understand what they mean.  I've read the book of Daniel several times, and read books on Daniel.  But I'd really like to do an study on it.  I'll have to check on Amazon or Lifeway later to see what I can find.  There are some great authors out there.  Beth Moore is one who has written a book on Daniel, I think.  I know there are others I like to read, but the names are escaping me at the moment.

Mmmmm, just finished a cup of salted caramel coffee.  Bought a 12 pack of k-cups in it the other day.  First sip was a bit too sweet, but I hung in there and yeah, I'm finishing up the last sip now.  I'm not one to put sugar in my tea or coffee.  In fact, I'm trying hard to back away from sugar, period.  I need to keep my body healthy.

Oh yeah - the other procrastination I was thinking about in the beginning of this blog.... actually two more.  One, I have to call the podiatrist today.  It is two weeks today that I stubbed my toe or whatever I did to it.  It is still lightly bruised, and still very tender.  I walked around the store yesterday and by the time I got home, my legs and feet were hurting.  I think I am over compensating somehow for that sore toe.  I hope I can get in fairly soon.  Won't know until I call.

And the other, I need to call the dealer on getting my rear tires aligned before they damage my tires, and also get the spray on my car to keep it shiny and protected.  That spray is free, but the other will cost me a bit.  But they showed me a photo of what it looks like so I know the tires need to be aligned.  Thank goodness I don't drive much now.  But Thursday I do need to drive to Mesa for the day.  Oh joy.

Well, time to hit the shower and get my day started.  That is one thing I shouldn't procrastinate on - or hubby just may comment on an odor. :-)  Just kidding!  You know you have heard someone say 'cleanliness is next to godliness'.  Now where in the world did that comment come from?  May have to google it!

Have a blessed day!
