trying to think of something to write about, I am at a loss. What shall I write about today? It's Friday, thank You, Jesus! My calendar for work looks pretty 'free'. One of the employees asked me to order him a headset yesterday - and I realized I have one here. So I do have an errand to run today. And, I'm going to take advantage of that errand. I am boxing up the headset to put in the mail to this employee, so a trip to the post office is needed. I actually 'get out' of the house! I have some books to send to my sister, but I may wait on that; there is no rush to get them sent - other than get them out of the house. In fact, I may just put them back on the shelf for now. No biggie. I need to get past that 'I think they are good and I know she will too' thinking. That's how we send each other 'things'. Honestly, my sister is more into facial stuff and I have a couple things she has sent me that I have no idea if I will ever use. Me, I'm in to books. LOL Imagine that! Maybe I'll run by Arby's and pick up a slider for my lunch. Their sliders are really good - I really enjoy the bread (duh, I love bread) as it is soft. I've had the ham, roast beef, and chicken sliders and no complaints about any of them. The hardest part is deciding which one I want!
Which reminds me, I need to eat soft for awhile. I switched out my retainers yesterday as scheduled. OUCH! These new ones I feel are longer than the others and the bottom ones push my gums down to where they hurt! Once on, the pain subsides, but even now, as I took them out so I could drink my coffee this morning, I'm dreading putting them back on. Can I stand doing this for two weeks before I change again - and go back to the Orthodontist office - or will I go back to the bottoms of the one I was using the past two weeks. It is debatable, for sure. There is intense pain to start with, but it does subside... and I am definitely more decisive as to take them out for a snack - is it worth the pain of putting them back on? Time will tell. You needed to know all that, right? See, I don't know what to write about this morning.
I need to figure out a way to get my son's birthday gift to him. Maybe this weekend I can run it by. Or maybe I'll take it up to the DIL's work and hand off to her. Maybe I'll bake something today and take up for her. Oh yeah - I do pick up a combo box today and I think I get a case of strawberries - guess who will get some if I do get a case? Yes, I may very well head up to see her. So my errand may be to the post office to mail the headset, and then on to get my combo box.
Matthew 15:18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean'.
Some people always do their best to make sure they do the right thing.... they are polite and kind, they volunteer, they do all the good stuff. But they do it for show. They want people to look at them and think "wow, they are really good people". But when they go home, they are bad-mouthing the very people they were kind to. I'm probably not saying it right - but you get the jest - right? People who want to portray themselves as great people, only they open their mouth and ruin any thought of that. Yeah, I imagine I fall into that category at times, although I am trying hard to put a lock on the mouth and shut it out of my thoughts! Some would say, "well, you just can't help say stuff about that person!" Right? We all have them in our lives. But Jesus says we are to love others as we love ourselves. Yeah, just thinking of all the stuff I've said about hubby.... sometimes bashing him in my frustration at him, sometimes not meaning to but stating facts. I've got to get a better 'grip' on my tongue, right? And maybe you do too.
One of the things I try to do each morning is in my prayers pray this as well....
Psalm 51:10: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
King David prayed that after Nathan, the prophet, confronted him about his sin with Bathsheba. We can't make our hearts pure. Only God can do that. The Holy Spirit identifies the evil there to us, and we confess our sins to God. Jesus' blood has already washed them away, and our confession makes that payment real in our life. A pure heart is the work of God. He is the One who gives us love instead of bitterness, thankfulness instead of cursing, kindness instead of sarcasm, and silence instead of saying something stupid. Most often, and probably too often, we run hot and cold in those areas, right? We realize how bad our hearts are and try very hard to clean up our act for a few days, but then it doesn't take long for us to fall into our old ways. King David asked God to give him stability and persistence in purity of heart. He asked God, 'renew a steadfast spirit within me'.
We all need - and hopefully desire, a clean heart before God. Our words are an indication of our hearts, but if we only try to change our words, things won't stay changed for long. We have to ask God to also change our hearts, that we will listen to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to guide us to make better choices of what comes out of our mouth. Someday we will be called to give an account - at the judgement seat - of every word we have spoken. A lot of our words are careless, aren't they? Most times, if we thought about the words and the impact they have, we would pause and not say them at all. Jesus tells us to 'consider your words'.
Matthew 12:36-37 - For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.
Maybe we all ought to sit still before the Lord and ask Him to 'create within us a clean heart' and help us to have a steadfast spirit, that we will not sin against Him. Help us to say the words that need to be said, in a way that they should be said..... or keep them inside our mouth. Hmmmm something to think about. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and help me to speak only what You would have me speak.
Have a 'clean heart' day!
Blessings!
