Well, we never did get back to the garage yesterday - even later in the day. I MAY try to get out there once we get home from church and do a little bit of straightening up. I can tell hubby he needs to stay out of the heat.... and I can do a little and come in frequently to cool off. I just want to get it straightened up.
I did cook breakfast yesterday - and then my cooking mode took over. Yep. I made potato and ham soup, crockpot red/black chicken chili, cornbread, oatmeal raisin cookies, and froze several more bags of strawberries. I checked with my granddaughter, who lives not far away, if she wanted any of the fruit and veggies I still had in the box - she stopped by later in the day. She took several items, but I still have a few. Guess I will figure out how to cook butternut squash. I need to look up what specifically 'curry' is.... my granddaughter says she makes great butternut squash curry - and butternut squash soup. Gonna have to check that out. I'm not so sure.....I wasn't raised on squash (well, she wasn't either, but she tried it) and sometimes my taste buds rebel. Anyway, I spent the majority of the day cooking, and I was in 'cooking heaven'. I took oatmeal raisin cookies and a frozen dessert over to our new neighbors with the instructions for them NOT to feel like they have to reciprocate. Last time they bought me two dozen roses!! Of course, that was also because I had to put up with the noise of the remodeling the past two months (which was true). I sent the remaining strawberry pie and a frozen dessert home with the granddaughter. She text'd me later the pie was delicious. I guess I did something right. The other strawberry pie didn't set cause I didn't cook it long enough. Hubby finished that pie off yesterday; he ate the strawberries and threw the juice and crust away. Not sure if I will try it again. But I'd love to make the frozen dessert again and give to Ms Vicki and Ms Diane. Yeah, I didn't get any good food over to them yesterday.
Former President Trump - wow - we were watching him talk on News Nation channel when we saw the attempted assassination. It's hard to believe that something like that couple happen in the United States. It looked at first like he was swatting at flies - and then down he went! Prayers, prayers, and more prayers for protection of those who are in political office. Just because someone doesn't agree with your politics doesn't give you a right to remove them. Was glad to hear only his ear was grazed.
We stayed up late watching movies last night - yeah, 9:30PM for us is late - and so when I woke up this morning I told myself "nope, not yet", and turned over. About an hour later my watch was buzzing telling me my battery was down to about 10%. That is the one thing I don't like about the Apple watch. You have to charge it every day. My Apple watch is ok other than that, but since I had a Fitbit before, I prefer the Fitbit. And from what I have seen and read about the Spade 3 watch, if my company's exercise program that is linked with my Apple (and formerly my Fitbit) would get a contract with Spade & Co, I would switch to Spade for they give you more information at a glance. I generally have to search for it on my Apple watch. But - it does link in to Virgin Pulse, which is out program. I even wrote Virgin Pulse and asked them to contract with Spade & Company - AND I wrote to Spade & Company to contract with Virgin Pulse! Of course, nothing has come from it - but maybe someday they will. The program with the company that gathers our workout information, etc. also gives me a $30/month discount on my insurance when I reach a certain goal. I think I'm at 80,000+ points at the moment, so I have the discount for next year's insurance.
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV): But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not grow faint...
That's what came to mind as I was writing about exercise in the above paragraph. So many times our 'running' is not physical running, but just 'running' through life. We get so busy doing life, that we forget to live. Ever feel that way? So busy being busy that there is no time to just be...... to live life, to enjoy life. We fill our lives with so many things! We fill it with work, with family, with activities.... and then there is no time left for us. Does that make sense? Yes, our families come first. Well, Jesus comes first but next in line, our families come first. We work to take care of our families. Which reminds me... the other day something was said - and I can't remember exactly what it was, nor what I responded, but it was something about having to work..... and hubby makes his usual comment... (sigh)... "oh here it comes again!" - meaning that I was going to comment about being forced to continue working so that he could enjoy his retirement. But I didn't say that. I hadn't planned to say it. He knows it is a wedge between us, his dependence upon me to support him because he refused to work. Another story for another day, but he chooses his way, and I could not stand being quarantined here at home 24/7 because we had no money to do things. It is a good thing I work. Besides, I'm getting really good at shopping. But - back to the scripture.
I get my strength from the Lord. Many days, and sometimes frequently throughout the day, I cry out to the Lord to give me the wisdom and strength to deal with different things - my job, hubby, family conflicts/issues, and my own self. He always provides what I need. And He will do that for you as well. When you are weary with life, He will always step in and provide what you need - if you ask Him to. But when you come to Him, you need to come to Him with a clean heart, one that is seeking Him - not for what He can provide for you, but for what He can help you live with.
I can't tell you the number of times I have cried out 'Lord, HELP!' in my life. My trainer laughs at me at times - I even say 'Lord, HELP!' when I'm doing some of the exercises and I don't have any strength left to complete them. And He does help.
And He longs to help you. Take a few minutes this morning and just sit in His Presence. Clear the air between you and reach out to Him, asking Him for help for whatever you need. He is willing.... but sometimes we have to ask. Where is your faith? Choose to believe that Jesus is the Son of the Living God, and He sits on His throne at the right hand of His Father, God. Almighty One. The Creator of all things. The One to worship and praise and adore. Lord, Help us in our unbelief, that we will know that You alone are God.
Blessings!
