I know I already have a couple meetings to work on - saw they came through just minutes before 4PM and I decided they could wait until this morning to handle. I was tired and was done mentally so left them. I need to take off about 1:15PM at the latest as I have a medical test to do over and another one after that scheduled. Faith over fear.
I also want to make some phone calls; Ms. Amy's birthday is today and I didn't mail a card... I'm really bad at mailing cards. Ironically, many years ago, I was always mailing people notes and cards and now I don't do nothing - well, I text them or call them, depending on who it is. The price of cards has gotten beyond ridiculous. I need to go back to making my own. Some day, perhaps. I also need to check in with my little brother as he reported he and his wife have COVID. Or at least tested positive and don't feel good; he still thinks it may just be the flu. We have text'd, but I need to make the phone call.
Got rid of a couple of the pies yesterday, we ate about a quarter of one, gave Ms. Diane a quarter, and Ms. Vicky only wanted a slender slice. (tee hee, Ms. Vicky told me that if I had given her a whole pie, she would have sat down and eaten the entire thing, which is why she asked for only a sliver of a piece.) But I still have one whole pie left and no one wants it. I may text my daughter in law and see if she would like that one too - she did share with coworkers she said. Sure hate to throw it away - but lesson learned; don't be so hasty to bake so many, thinking people would enjoy your pie. Maybe I'll divide it up among some of my other neighbors; that's a thought too.
I may start on the pickles tonight.... hubby fusses at me because the air becomes somewhat acidy because of the vinegar smell - and after awhile, it does burn the eyes - between the onions and the vinegar, that is. But, I only have about 5 onions so won't be able to do that many tonight - but it would be a start. Need to pick up more onions so I can finish these. Of course eating cucumbers is good for you too. I still have a few mini watermelon, but I think we can eat those before they rot. No, I didn't go get any more strawberries either...got another notice last night that they were still available - not bad - a case of strawberries for $6.20, I think it was.... that's 8 containers that generally sell for at least $4 each. Yeah, it was a good deal. I still have strawberries I froze the last time I picked up a bunch so don't really need to do that.
I hear hubby getting ready for his Bible study this morning - which means I'll be alone for a couple hours. Hot dog! But, alas, I still have to work. Need to jump in the shower myself and clean up a bit for my test this afternoon. But I have time.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV): "For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
Most of us know that scripture from memorization when we were younger... but do you know it in your heart? Do you realize that God knows every thought you will have - good or bad - before you even think it? He knows ahead of time every action that you will take. But His thoughts toward you are all good. He wants you to succeed. He wants you to be loved. He wants you to have all that you need - and even all that you want. God loves you with an immeasurable love. Do you get that? His thoughts are so much better than any thoughts that we could have for ourselves, or for our families.
Sometimes it is better to pray, "not my will, but Yours, O Lord". Even when things don't happen the way we want them to, God is still in control and He still will work all things for your good. His word says so.
Romans 8:28 (NIV) : "And we know that in all things that God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."
I usually quote the first part of that scripture - the 'in all things that God works for the good of those who love Him'... but what does 'who have been called according to His purpose"? Ah- that is the question... I guess... He can use every one of us for His purpose of drawing people to Him. He is the Ultimate. He is the First and the Last. He is the King of all Kings. But do you believe it?
I think of this Israeli war going on... my heart grieves over all the things I have heard happening to the Jewish people... babies beheaded or bodies riddled with bullets; couples burned to death; young children dismembered - how can people do such things and get by with it? What is God's purpose in all this? How can He let His people be murdered like this? I don't have that answer... other than something else I've read. Could it be that He will use this to turn His people's hearts to Jesus, the Messiah they have long awaited for? How can that happen? I don't understand. I don't get it. We are in the end times - remember in Revelations it says there will be wars and rumors of war... and here we are. Jesus is coming soon... and God will always leave a remnant, He always has, of His people. Oh that He would reveal Himself now before many more are murdered! Oh that they would believe!
But then, here in the USA, there are so many who do not believe - or they believe, and they still live their own lives like it is all about them and their pleasures. Oh that their hearts will be turned back to Jesus and let Him lead their lives! I know where I would be, and what I would be, if I did not let Jesus lead me and be #1 in my life. I know, and I am so grateful that Jesus loves me and took me just as I was back then, and walks with me now. You would not like me if I didn't have Jesus. He is the Author, and Perfector of my faith. And He is yours as well. Will you let Him come in?
Pray for Israel. Pray for the people who are being slain. Pray for peace.
Blessings!
