It's Saturday morning!!

and the start of a long weekend - well, for me.  I'm off Monday for Memorial Day, and then took Tuesday off, and then I'm meeting my boss for breakfast on Wednesday morning.... so yeah, I'm almost feeling like I've retired.  HAH.

I completed about a total of 125 envelopes and have about 100 to go.  I thought I'd be smart and go to the post office yesterday to get a cost on mailing them - perhaps get stamps and just do the entire thing here at home and off we go, right?  I got a shock!  I took one stuffed envelope to get the price - and was quoted $8.05 for this 4x6 package that only has two small items in it (total of about $7).  Needless to say, I didn't mail it.  Can you even imagine?  225 x $8.05 for each one - AND actually, the clerk at the post office told me that it is based on the zip code, so it will vary for each one!!  It is over $1800 to mail those out!  I do not plan to put that on MY credit card - although I would get reimbursed in about two weeks.  Uh no.

I text'd Sue and told her - and she responded after I signed off that we could just do the ones out of state and the the ones in-state we could send to the directors to distribute to their teams in an in-person meeting. Then she said we'd talk about it on Wednesday when we meet for breakfast.  My plan is to complete the addressing and stuffing and getting them ready to mail - and after we meet for breakfast, I will drive on down to the Mesa office and have the mailroom send them out and charge to the AU, if that is what is desired.  I was so totally shocked at the cost!

But then.... I learned a lesson this one too.... I had a package to send to my sister that has several things in it - decided to just mail it as well.  I knew that would cost as it was in a large postal box.  Supposedly a set amount.  The post office has raised their rates on shipping packages so high, I will not be doing much of it this year!  Anyway - my sister had sent me a red/white/blue top - actually it's all red with a blue/white flower in the middle.  Round neck. Sleeves down below elbows (like she wears), and a thick knit.  Uh, no, for one thing - not my style at all.  We had talked about this a week ago and I told her do not send me any blouses, when she wanted me to have a red/white/blue shirt for the 'holiday'.  I have one I can wear - and I am not going anywhere. Do not need one.  But she bought it and sent it anyway.  I'm sending it back. I don't want it.  Oh - and it was so long it was between my hips and my knees.  I thought about finding someone in the family to take it, but I did not even find it pretty.  Long story short.... instead of opening the box and putting it in there - which I should have done - I just put it in a mailing bag (just a plastic thing!) and it cost me $8.05 to mail it!! I almost kept it - then decided to just send it and be done with it.  The post office is making a killing, for sure!  I won't be mailing out packages like I used to!

I shut down the work computer about 2PM yesterday cause Sue said I could take off early.  I had worked through lunch so actually was only short an hour... but I got so much done yesterday!  I just felt like I had so much more energy.  Will share about that another time, my thoughts on that, but seriously!  I washed the two loads of clothes, folded up three loads, cleaned out two refrigerators, watered my plants, broke down some boxes, fixed dinner..... and I still had energy!  Didn't get the kitchen floor mopped like I had planned.... but, and can you believe this?? .... I mentioned at the dinner table that I still wanted to sweep and mop the kitchen floor and hubby asked if he could mop it for me!  DUH.  First time he has offered to CLEAN anything in the house in I don't know how long!  So I said yes!  I will pull the mop out this morning and he can 'have at it' while I tear down more boxes out in the garage.  Want to get in the closet too this morning and start in there.  I have so.much.stuff!!

I did take a quick run over to a granddaughter's to drop some things off, then on to the youngest son's to see the great-grandchildren there for a few minutes before heading back home to fix dinner.  It felt so good to be doing things and getting things done!  Seriously, I haven't felt that good in ... I don't know how long!  I sat down after dinner and of course got the 'want to watch a movie?' question. That man and his phone and his TV!  I gave in and said ok - and he found a movie called Moonrise that was actually very good.  He wanted to watch another as it was only 7:45 but I resisted.  Read a bit and then went to bed because... well, just because. Sometimes I hate my life. But yesterday - at least during the day - was a good day.

I woke up about 4AM today and could not go back to sleep. Got up and came in here; tried to sleep to no avail.  Finally did my reading and here I am.  I'm going to finish this up, get dressed, perhaps scramble some eggs and fix toast for breakfast, then I'm heading to the garage to finish tearing up boxes OR get in my closet and get started on that.  Maybe the garage while it is still a bit cool.  But then, I can put that off until Monday as recycle doesn't come until Wednesday.  No sense in pushing myself when I have time, right?  Want to run over to SAM's Club too - need to pick up a few things.

So - this is about it - want to get moving and get started on the day while I WANT to do it.  Hubby will annoy me soon enough and I will just 'go shopping' to get away - but he will probably ask to go with me and I can't tell him no.  It's a cycle we go through.  Anyway - I'm going to get off here and get dressed - at least that is a start, right?

Hebrews 4:15-16   We do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

No matter how much I try not to complain, I often do.... and am so grateful that our High Priest, Jesus, can empathize with my weakness.  I can approach God's throne of grace with confidence, and find His mercy and grace to get me through these trying times.  I just keep crying "Lord, HELP!!  And He provides just what I need.  He'll do that for you as well, if you will let Him.

Blessings!

I can't remember the last time I was at the Post office to even get anything, aside from a pick-up that needed signed for. I vaguely remember buying a few 'Forever stamps' as stamps had all gone to one set price, but I don't even remember what that was. I guess if you order and need it shipped, do it from Amazon for free shipping! LOL!!

I much prefer shipping from Amazon and do it frequently!
