My girl is going home....

Yeah, this morning my daughter is on her way to the airport.  Instead of me driving her there, with hubby on board, she called her youngest brother because she had not seen him yet, and asked if he could take her - for which I am so grateful.  Driving to the airport is not my favorite thing to do, but I would do it in a heartbeat for whoever needed it.  She thought she had told him to pick her up at 5:30AM.  I text'd him at 5:20 and he didn't 'read' my text.  I called him at 5:35AM.. it went to voicemail.  He called me back about 5:40AM and said that he was in the car and on his way; I guess he didn't hear 5:30AM but 'around 5:30AM' or whatever - anyway, they just left; got a couple blocks away, and she remembered she had laid her phone down - so back they came and I ran the phone out to her.  And now they are on their way to the airport.  Grateful I don't have to do the driving, although I had gotten dressed when he wasn't here at 5:30AM.  I was planning on getting her there.

We had a nice visit last night, and yes, 'allowed' hubby to sit in on the conversation. We didn't talk about much but he said he appreciated us letting him sit in and talk with us, that he enjoyed the time sitting around chatting. It WAS nice getting to just sit around the kitchen table and chat.  We just don't do enough of it.

I'm on my second cup of coffee this morning since I was sipping and waiting on my daughter to get ready to leave.  By the time they were on their way, my cup was nearly empty. So here I am, a full cup of coffee, and typing in here.  I haven't even done my quiet time yet... but will soon.  Morgan just text'd me and said she was sorry but was cancelling me for our 8:30AM training...... the stomach bug has hit her house and you know what that means!  I'm not sure if it is her or her little ones, but when her husband is out of town a week at a time, it generally falls on mama to take care of whomever.  Her husband's job keeps him in town one week and out the next; I think this is an out week.

Work wasn't too bad yesterday, but I was busy, for sure.  Didn't get any trainings completed, just didn't have time to get to them. Yeah, it was that busy.  Hopefully today I can fit some in.  I did get a nice surprise yesterday - one of the directors sent me a card with $50 in it, thanking me for always helping her and her team and always being available for them.  Nice.  Admin Professional Day was last week, remember?  And I cancelled the board meeting for Thursday - finally got that out of the way.  You know how I 'love' board meetings.  Next one is May 7th - will see how that goes.

Proverbs 22:1  A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.

I think sometimes we scoff at names... I mean, don't you usually raise your eyebrows and your mind goes crazy when you hear a name that sounds ridiculous to you?  Yet, to the mama or papa, it is a precious name.  We've heard all names - names of the seasons, names of celebrities, names of 'olden days'.... and we may even roll our eyes - unless it is one of our own, right?  I think of my own name.  My name comes from part of my mother's middle name, and my middle name is my dad's first name, and the last half of my mother's middle name. I've always said I was the 'favorite' because I was named after both mom and dad. :-)  No one else has that claim.  Well, my little brother has dad's middle name.  But I have both.

But, what is in a name if we don't respect it?   What if we bring dishonor to our name - such as some have done by doing things that are not respectable?  When someone hears our name, do they think highly of us, or do they consider us one that deserves no value?  How many times have we heard a name and thought negatively about it?  I can think of even some of my siblings that I have thought badly of, and I'm sure you have as well.  Where they have done things that obviously they don't think is 'bad', or maybe they turned against you.... you still love them, but you have to choose to move them out of your life for that time, until they can prove themselves - I'm sure I have done that (quite a few times, actually), and I'm sure you have as well.  Yes, my mind is rambling as my fingers run over these keys - thinking back in my mind.  I try to remain neutral, but when people slander you or say things to you that are unspeakable.... one tends to back away from them - at least for awhile.

But I have learned over the years that when we do that, and block them out of our lives, we give them control over us.  Yes, that may sound unreal, but it is true.  And holding a grudge against someone will keep you out of heaven for God says that if we don't forgive someone, He won't forgive us.  That's important to me, for I have much to be forgiven for!  So even though I may not 'care' for someone, I associate with them for I am not going to give them the power to keep me out of heaven. Does that make sense?  My daughter and I had that talk last night about a family member.  I refuse to give anyone but God control over me.  Now hubby is a different story and I'm not going there.  But I must push my personal feelings aside and be 'distant friends' - if that makes sense.  Holding grudges helps no one.

But then, are we taking care of our name?  Will our parents be proud when they hear our name - or will it grieve their heart?  Will someone close to you be sadden, be happy, be proud??  What is in a name, anyway?  Whatever we do, let's make our name 'Good'.  Let's live our lives in such a way that when someone hears our name, they smile.  Or at least respect us.

Sometimes with my attitude with work - I often wonder how people perceive me.  I'm grateful that many of the 'happy admin day' e-cards I have received have commented not only about my skills and abilities, but also my personality.  Doesn't mean I am perfect, by any means.  But it is nice to hear that my name is respected by my peers and leaders.  What about you?

A nice quiet evening is ahead, I hope.  Hubby will be home today as he hasn't changed back to Tuesday from Thursday for his meeting with his friend.  I need to figure out something for dinner and pull it out of the freezer.  Been eating out way too much this past week so need to rein in my spending. Although I do think I have a couple Amazon orders coming in today.  It is just way too easy to order on Amazon, right?  But it sure saves me time by not having to drive to the store - and walk around and browse - and buy more then I meant to in the first place.

And now.... I need to get off here and take some time to read.  With all the 'excitement' of getting my daughter off this morning, I haven't done my quiet time yet, and I only have a short time left. I could have written this later, but my mind wasn't settling down.  Now that this is done, I can be quiet, and sit still.

So with that - hope that your day ahead is amazing.  Be kind to others.  You don't know what they are going through.

Blessings!
