After the weekend I've had, (being puny), I'm glad I have today off work. It's also timecard Monday, but I think i nagged everyone enough that all approved their timecard on Friday - and I also approved - so I do not need to get on the computer this morning. But then, I have that 'nagging' feeling, perhaps I should? LOL I have until 2PM so may check it at some point this morning.
But, I have a somewhat busy morning planned. I have an 8:30AM gym training with Morgan - and we're doing HIIT. Normally it would be 'upper body' - but we switched it this week as I have a 7AM on Thursday morning and I just don't see me THAT active at 7AM. 8:30AM isn't quite so bad and I can get my body moving somewhat. I didn't do anything yesterday except cook meals, go to the grocery, and visit Ms. Vicky. Today I need to get those strawberries done! Into jam jars, that is. I should go up and visit Ms. Diane as she will be moved tomorrow and I won't be able to go over as often. I don't think anything else is planned for today.
I also want to find other things to make. I know I had seen strawberry bread somewhere and I want to look for that recipe. I have so many 'clearing out' things I need to do (and you know you do too!) but that takes time and effort - and I don't want to do that! I have stacks of recipes - many I will never make - that I need to just throw away. I need to write out the recipes I want to keep and get them all put together in a book. I do have a couple 'write in' recipe books that I have been given as gifts - but have I ever put a recipe in them yet? Of course not!
I want to clear out my emails - you know, those ones that you either glance at and say "I'll read it later" and don't - or they are a confirmation of something you ordered - or they are just something you want to look at later and later has never come. Yeah - I have a BUNCH of those.... but do I want to spend the time in front of my personal computer on my day off? I'd rather go bake - and that is a lot more fun - right?
Maybe I can get some reading done - if I can get hubby to leave the TV off for awhile. I have a couple books that I am close to finishing - and it would be helpful in my yearly count if I can get them done and move on. They are interesting books, don't get me wrong, but when I stretch my reading to just a chapter a day (or so), it does take a while to finish - and although I'm a little ahead of my goal for this time, we are down to 4 months and I need to 'get on it' as it would be nice to BEAT my goal this year and encourage myself to go higher next year.
I have a birthday gift for my oldest son, whose birthday is Saturday. I wonder if I will need to take it to his wife at the rehab facility to take to him - or if I will have a chance to see him. No guilt trips. I will figure it out. :-) I need to come up with something else to give over the years - same o same o can get boring and unneeded.
So what are your plans for today? Doing anything fun? I can remember the days when we gathered as a family and did things- and I love going through those memories. But that is the past and I cannot live there - does that make sense? I do know that if I ever have the space and the opportunity to just open it up for whomever wants to come and eat hamburgers/hot dogs or whatever - I will do it. I think that has been my biggest heartache; I haven't been able to do what I wanted to do. God willing, I will at some point be able to make memories again.
Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV): Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
I think we all have heard that scripture quoted over and over again. It was true in my life. I was brought up in church - to where I had the head knowledge of who God is. Then, after life happened, I chose to do my own thing, to live my life without restrictions. Then I remarried, and I was so unhappy, so miserable, that I realized the only One who could help me, was Jesus. Even though I didn't know Him personally; even though I still just had the head knowledge of who He is, I knew I could not survive with out Jesus walking with me. And I've never looked back. Even when I was a horrible sinner, I knew deep down that there was more for me than the life I was living.
I'm so glad that God never gave up on me, that He continued to draw me to Him. As I began to learn of Him, I learned that He loved me, in spite of all my sins. Jesus died for all those sins, so that I didn't have to. I learned how to have a personal relationship with Jesus; that He was my Friend, not my enemy trying to keep me from doing things. He never told me to give up things; those were my own choices, because I wanted to honor and please Him. I still have a long ways to go. I will never be perfect. I still say and do things that I shouldn't. But when I ask for forgiveness, Jesus is always there to give it. So very grateful.
My children have all been brought up in the church, but alas, I think they also just got the 'head knowledge'. There is so much more to Jesus than head knowledge. I pray for each of my children, my grandchildren, and even my great-grandchildren, that at a point in their life they will know that Jesus is their Friend, and how much He loves them. Some of the grandchildren were brought up in the church, and some who have chosen to turn against God because - well, their own reasons - breaks my heart. Them I especially pray for. I don't want them to go to hell, nor their children.
Parents, you need to be praying for your children, and your grandchildren, and even your future great-grandchildren. None of us know when Jesus will return. I do not want my children and their families to go to hell. I don't think you do either. When was the last time you prayed for them, that they will find Jesus and live for Him? Please never stop praying for your children, your families. You don't know what your prayers can do. They protect, they heal, the restore, they give hope. Sometimes, if your child knows you are praying for them, they feel your love through the prayers. They feel valued enough to be prayed for. Just like we all do.
I am confident that my mama and my grandma and my granny prayed for me as long as they lived. I know that hubby prays for me every day. Do you know who is praying for you? And who are you praying for?
Tough questions, aren't they? Why not just pause long enough to ask for protection, the love of Jesus, the fulfillment of all He has for them, for each of your family members. Your spouse may need it the most as they go through this day. Thank God for them; thank God for your children.
I don't remember the specifics of the scripture, but there is a saying of ..."there is no greater joy than knowing your children walk with the Lord." One of the hardest things for you to do will be to release your child to Jesus, pray for them, and let them go. I know this for a fact. It hurts. But it also brings joy. I see fruit in one of my granddaughters and it brings my heart such joy.
Blessings!
