So glad it's another Friday!

Yesterday was so-so, once the board meeting was over with.  I 'survived' it, anyway.  I'm gaining more confidence as I do these, but I have decided I need to learn how to do powerpoint presentations better and be more efficient. Especially since I've decided to work until I die.

I won! I won!  I went to Mighty Moo ice cream a month or so ago and there was something about a QR code that you just scan it and it sent your info in for a 'prize'. I forgot all about it. Afterall, when do I win something?  But I got a call earlier in the week that I had, indeed, won a $50 gift card to Mighty Moo ice cream shoppe!  Whoo hoo!  Sigh.  And I'm trying to lose weight.  I finally went yesterday and picked up the card.  Who sponsored it?  It wasn't 'Mighty Moo'.  I had to call this person to let them know I was coming because they said they needed to get a photo to post on Facebook. You know how much I 'love' my photo being taken - and that was almost enough to NOT pick up the card.  But it WAS a $50 gift card for ice cream, so I called yesterday.  When a person answered the phone and put me on hold.... I listened to the 'message' on the recording and hmmmm.  Figured it out.  When answered, I told her that I would be there in about 20 minutes.  As I was driving there, I thought about it, and I called back.  The person wasn't at her desk so I asked them to have her call me within the next 10 minutes (before I arrived).   She did.

I explained that I had figured out who was sponsoring the giveaway.  It's a funeral home here nearby.  They are doing it partially to get their name out there.  I explained we have already bought into cremation services and burial from another funeral home, and I didn't want to take the card without them knowing that I wasn't going to listen to any presentation to get my card.  She assured me that although they do want business, that wasn't the purpose of the giveaway.  They wanted to do something for people who stay in town with all the hot heat - and how much better to do it with ice cream!  She told me she appreciated my concern but to come get the card anyway.  I did - and I must admit, I did enjoy meeting some of the staff and we chatted for a bit about life.  Got my photo taken with the staff, holding the card.  I asked for a brochure or two that I could pass on to my kids.  Prices are always going up, and if one buys in now, the prices are less than what they will be 5 years from now, plus it is all taken care of.  We can transfer to them if we want, but I doubt if we will.  But I saw their place and I feel it is a beautiful place to have a service. We haven't even been to the place where we have chosen to take care of our 'remains'.  They do a lot of things to make the end of life preparations easier.   Something to think about.  I am making payments right now for hubby and I for cremation at the other facility, and they take care of notifying social security, friends identified, and any burial arrangements.  We didn't buy in for the entire package, but at least the cremation and burial will be taken care of because we will be buried free in the veteran's cemetery.  Although I have always said to throw my ashes in the desert.  My daughter wants to throw some of mine in the ocean from San Diego, because hubby refuses to let us Jailbreak there.  And, of course, for some reason, my little sister wants some of my ashes to put in a plot she has in Indiana.  She wants us buried together.  Why? She's mad at me most of the time. LOL  Being divided up would make me thinner, right?

I text'd a granddaughter last night. She and her little family are the ones who invited us to meet them at Mighty Moo for the first time.  Hubby and I went back again, and that is when I scanned the QR code. The ice cream is homemade and although it is pricey, it is worth it.  I had posted the banana split of our last visit. And you know what, I may just have to go soon to get another banana split cause it was really good!  I told her since she took us there originally, I'll treat with my gift card. :-)

Hubby has already gone to his bible study and I'm alone.  My sister and I were talking about being alone the other day.  99 percent of the time she sleeps alone because her hubby has multiple myeloma and it's in his back so it feels better in the recliner.  I think he is in remission right now.  But she goes to her room around 7PM and stays there all evening, watching 'The Chosen' over and over and doing her quiet time.  She prefers the evening for her time with God; I prefer starting my day with Him.  Anyway, she mentioned the other day she feels lonely a lot of the time because her hubby sits in his chair most of the time.  But then she complains because he has started buying bikes to fix up and sell to make extra money so that they can pay for their 3 months stay in Florida each year.  We both agree, that although I enjoy being alone, and she is alone in her room most of the time, when the 'alone' time becomes a reality... we both will probably feel differently.  Of course I've told hubby that when he dies I'm having a party.  That angered him, for sure.  But it isn't in celebration of his passing, but in celebration of my freedom.  Only those who really know me know what I'm talking about.

Uh oh - there is a 7AM board review meeting - to discuss the board meeting yesterday.  Most on this list aren't even attending the meeting, so why does there have to be a review? It makes no sense to me. I am not calling in to it, although I sent out the meeting invite months ago.  And my male boss isn't even on the computer yet.  I didn't put a reminder on his calendar yesterday.  Is that my problem?  I think it's a wasted meeting anyway.  We followed what had been in the past - a meeting every other month, reviews before and after.  That will change in 2026 and I'm pushing for quarterly, forget the review after and just those who present need to be in the before.   LOL I sent a text and asked if I needed to attend - and he is now online and responded it was my choice. Guess what. I'm not getting online for that meeting.

I did cook a roast yesterday and we had it for dinner last night, but I think the rest can wait until tomorrow.  Or maybe I'll shred it together (the potatoes, carrots, onions, and meat) and freeze for another time.  Tonight my plan is to join my son for dinner at 'the Post'.  I like to support him as I can - and I love to eat, so that works as well. :-)

Psalm 149:4 (NKJV):  For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.

If you really think about it, those that are humble are beautiful people.  They don't boast about how much (of anything) of what they have, they don't cry out their good works, they don't seek acknowledgement or recognition for what they do.  They just do what is right and let the works speak for themselves.  I write that and think about how much I complain about (board meetings) some things I HAVE to do and don't want to.... and yet, the 'inside me' is going "hey!  I did this!  Tell me I did a good job!!"   I'm pretty sure that some of you feel the same way.

But when we do for others, and I love when this happens, and we don't seek recognition or acknowledgement, we just 'do it'..... we can feel the pleasure of God.  It is such a wonderful feeling to feel His pleasure upon us.

Francesca Battistelli has a song titled "He knows my name".   In the song the words are 'I don't need my name in lights, I'm famous in my Father's eyes, He knows my name....".  I sometimes catch myself singing that. I don't know all the words to the song, but I know that line.  It doesn't matter what I do - when I do it for the honor and glory of God, and not for myself and recognition, He knows my name and it is credited to me for His glory.  Life doesn't get better than that.

The next time you do something and don't receive recognition, don't worry about it.  Jesus and the great cloud of witnesses in heaven sees it all, and THEY give you glory for your good works.

Blessings!
