Love my Saturday mornings

when I can stay here in my room for more than a couple hours.  I probably mention that every week, don't I?  I stirred out of bed around 5AM this morning. Awake at 4AM, I still tried to go back to sleep and probably did.  As I probably did in here as well when I closed my eyes.  But I love listening to the birds (quail?) outside making their noises (and the neighbors this morning were out talking to someone.  NO, I did not get up to see what was going on.)

My last day of work vacation yesterday was so-so.  As I mentioned yesterday, I had to stay until the house cleaners were finished, then I headed out to meet a very dear (known since 1968) friend for lunch.  We went to Jack in the Box, which is what we usually do.  But, for some reason, they were really slow, and we waited 5 minutes or so when a ? manager ? came out and spoke to the person standing in front of us - telling her to use the kiosk!  She refused for whatever reason - and I decided I wasn't going to use it either (I want the personal interaction) and I asked my friend if she was ok with ice cream.  She was.

So she got in my car and we headed to Mighty Moo Ice Cream - only to find that they didn't open until 2PM, and it was only about 12:00PM.  But we both knew there was a DQ nearby, so I put it in my map and off we went to find DQ.  Found it, and found there is a Popeye's near it - and we love Popeye's!  My friend bought our ice cream and we sat down and enjoyed every bite of it.  Of course I got my turtle pecan cluster blizzard.  A medium one.  And it was so good.

Came home and brushed my teeth really, really good - and headed off for my dentist appointment.  I knew it was coming, as they have been watching it... but I have a crown that the gumline is separating from. After all, the crown is probably 40+ years old and I'm just guessing at that.  I'm always digging food out of the gumline where it gets stuck. (gross, huh)  It appears I have enough left this year on my insurance benefit that I can have it done this year. My next appointment is scheduled in November and they will remove this crown and check the tooth under it to make sure it isn't decayed.  They will also see if I need 'gum build-up'.  If I don't need it (but probably do), they will put a temporary on and a few weeks later put on a permanent crown.  If it does, I will probably need to go to a surgeon for the build up and then wait 4-6 weeks for healing before they work on it again and put a permanent crown on. They know more about that 'stuff' than I do - and luckily, I trust this dentist as I have known him for many, many years. I love how he explains everything in layman terms so that I understand what needs to be done - or even as he is doing it, he explains it.  So I have that to look forward to in November and probably through the first of the year before it is completed.  Oh joy.

From there I went to visit Ms. Diane in the Rehab center.  I saw her daughter and son come out and get in their car as I pulled in; I don't think they saw me.  I stayed in my car for I didn't want to talk to them. Some of what they say about Ms. Diane is true, I admit, but they just want to get rid of her, I'm afraid. This time I am pretty sure that they will be putting the house on the market and selling it, putting her in an assisted living (because she still can't walk, which I've shared why before). The daughter could not even text or call me to let me know Ms. Diane was in the hospital or Rehab Center - when she knows I go see her or call her.  I just didn't want to see them so waited until they were gone, then I went in.

Ms. Diane said they had really been on her case, telling her the staff is there to make her walk and she is refusing - and yet, Ms. Diane was trying to explain they only come in for one hour and she does what they tell her to. She feels 'they' think someone is at her beck and call to come in and work with her - and they are not.  I managed to calm her down some and we enjoyed our visit.  I text'd my DIL and just told her I was there, but I knew she was busy and that was ok.... and within 60 seconds I think, she was in the room to see me. :-)  I have such a special DIL who loves me!  Ms. Diane loves her too and one of the nurses said that everyone loves her!  It was good to see her as it has been awhile.

I stayed with Ms. Diane until after she was wheeled in to the dining area.  We waited for awhile but I knew I needed to get home to feed hubby (and me) so after staying with Ms. Diane for awhile there, I came on home and picked up hubby and we went out to dinner.  I opted for fried cod and it was really very good.

Today hubby wants to go to Barnes and Noble to use up a gift card he got for Christmas, I think it was.  I can get 'my' books from Amazon or Thriftbooks much cheaper than B&N if I know what I want. But I do enjoy browsing and seeing if there is anything I want. If you have a gift card, you know you got to use it! LOL I still have a Visa gift card but haven't decided what I want to use it for. Hubby insists it has to be 'on me'.  Will see. I need to sit down and figure out what I can get rid of if I want to buy something else. I do have way too much 'stuff'!!

Other than that, don't know what is on the agenda for today. I do plan to run up and see Ms. Diane again and take her a couple White Castles - she loves them.  I'll wait until mid- afternoon so that she will eat her lunch.

And with that - I need to stop here.  My screen is kind of dim this morning; need to figure out how to lighten it.  I must have hit something.  Anyway - need to get moving - it's after 8AM and I think I have an apple turnover calling my name along with a second cup of coffee.  And I can still hide out in here for maybe another hour.  Maybe.  Watch hubby offer to take me to lunch - we have eaten out so much I'm done with it.

Have an amazing day - give me a few days to 'get back on track'. -)

Blessings!
