Weary, but calm....

I mentioned the other day that hubby wanted us to do a 'date night' and we were going to an Italian restaurant a couple miles down the road.  It' almost like a 'hole in the wall' and in many of those places you can find great meals.  And I"m sure there are great meals in this place.  I just didn't find it this night. When you have had a delicious meal, you know it.  You can't stop raving about it and you can't stop thinking about how good it was.  California Pizza Kitchen has this dish called Chicken Piccata.  It is loaded with calories per serving (I know, because I would overeat so looked it up).  But it is so good.  At the last company I worked at where I had to order meals for meetings, it was a favorite thing to order.  So when you get taken out for a 'date night' to a restaurant you both were interested in trying and see it on the menu, what are your first thoughts?  Oh yeah... you think back to how good that dish was when you had it as 'take out' before!  Even tho the price was a a bit higher than I would pay, hubby was buying and told me to get whatever I wanted... so I ordered the $17.50 chicken piccata, and my mouth was watering for the results.  And it was at an Italian Restaurant, I might add... a place called 'A little bit of Italy'.  I am wondering which bit.... for when I received the meal, I couldn't believe what it looked like, let alone what it tasted like.  Now the chicken piccata is placed on top of angel hair spaghetti.  I am so serious in what I am going to share.  The chicken was very white, like it had been boiled, versus grilled.  The angel hair pasta it was sitting on?  I am telling you the truth.  It was less than one cup.  And it was like they didn't drain it for there was also liquid on the plate.  There was absolutely no taste to that meal.  None.  Even salt and pepper didn't help it.  I think they forget to put the seasonings in the dish.  Not even parsley to decorate it.  The vegetables were more tasteful than the chicken piccata.  Talk about a huge disappointment.  Was definitely not worth the $17.50 they charged for that meal.  Hubby got clam spaghetti and he said it didn't have much taste, but it was edible.  We both were hungry so we ate it.  I noticed at a table nearby that everyone got a huge bowl of salad for their meal.  We're willing to try this place again, but never something like these entrees.  We'll stick to salads... surely they can't mess that up!

Yesterday I got to hang out with a granddaughter and a great granddaughter...but I also had to work so packed up my computer and headed over early in the morning.  Grandson's dog was reported as having great difficulties and 'near the end'... or perhaps that was just my understanding.... personally, I think it is just old age and he's fine.... but I went over to help with the baby and with the dog.  I was told he wasn't to be allowed to 'jump' and move about... so I ended up holding him most of the day while I worked.  He enjoyed the attention, I'm sure.  I also got to play with the baby some.... she had a spot on her neck so was taken to the doctor for a 'look-see'.  She's fine.  I stayed until nearly 5PM, trying to help with the baby and dog, and then headed home.  Hubby was in a grumpy mood.....I guess because I had been gone all day.... what is he going to do when I go back to the office?  The more I think about it.... the more I want to work in the office at least 2-3 days a week!  I need others in my life and not be stuck in the back room of the house all day.  I fixed dinner (leftovers of course for him and I had a peanut butter sandwich)  I think he wanted me to cook for him....but gave him leftovers instead.  He remained grumpy but suggested we watch a movie.

This afternoon we will be heading back over to the daughter's house, where the granddaughter is staying.... the grandson is coming home around noon today to see his dog...yeah, the one above that we were told was so bad... it may be the last time he can see him and it is his dog.   We'll pick up pizza and spend some time with both the granddaughter and her family and the grandson.  The daughter and son-in-law have been in Nebraska all week helping another daughter move and won't be back until after midnight tonight.

Trying to schedule our trip to Indiana in a couple months.... my sister-in-law called the other night and as we were talking, she mentioned her grandson was getting married and going to a JP in September.  I told her that if we were there, we could do it.  She got all excited and was going to talk wtih the grandson to see when he was planning and then will get back with me.  I'll check with her this weekend for I need to get the tickets for our flight.  We also need to get our travel star put on our drivers license since we don't have passports.  Hubby said he sent off for a certified copy of his birth certificate so when it arrives he can get it.  I got my certified copy the other week; just haven't gone yet. So when we find the wedding date, we'll arrange our schedule to cover it.  My SIL asked if I would officiate the wedding and I said I would..... when I told hubby about he, he asked if he could do part of it.

Yesterday morning was tough in writing this... as you could figure out.  It may sound silly and unimportant to others, what I was feeling/experiencing, but until you walk in my shoes, you cannot understand what emotions I have been dealing with.  I have fought to be myself for the last 39 years  and be whom I feel God wants me to be.  I have struggled so much to live according to His Word - not because it is so hard, but because life is hard, and sometimes the choices we make are not the best ones for us.  I need Jesus in my life in order to survive, for I do not know what my life would have been like, or perhaps I do, if I did not turn to Jesus in my hardest struggles.  I'm not perfect by any means, and I still do a lot of stupid and irresponsible things.  I still want to do things my way and not always His way. Human nature, some would say.  And yet, I know His way is best.

Nearly every dream I have had, every hope, every thing that I thought was the thing I was destined to do, has been stripped away from me  over the years.  What I feel I was called to do, I have been unable to fulfill it.  I have struggled so greatly emotionally and many people know it, and see it, and comment on it... and yet, even with counseling... things do not change.  My heart is saddened to know I have not fulfilled what I feel God called me to do.  Maybe I am wrong.  Maybe they were MY dreams, my hopes, my wishes.... and not God's plan for me.  I have tried to 'live where I am planted'.... only to feel like dirt is pressing me down and I can't breathe anymore.

In spite of all my emotions lately (and my answer is going to be 'no' to what was troubling me) and things I have to deal with on a daily basis, I still trust God and believe that He has only the best planned for me.  I still believe that He loves me and will walk with me through any fire I have to go through.  I am confident that He will take my life and use it for His glory, His honor.... I just need to remain faithful to Him, for He will remain faithful to me.  Great is His faithfulness.

Life is hard sometimes, don't you agree?  We can't always have what we desire, what we want, what we hope for.  But God will supply all that we need.

And He will supply what you need, when you need it, as well.  Trust me.  I think I would have given up a long time ago if I couldn't lean into Jesus and ask Him to walk with me through the pain.  Until you walk in my shoes, you have no idea of my life.  And the same can be said of you.  Until I - or anyone - walk in your shoes, we cannot determine the outcome of your life.

Jesus IS all we need.  He meets me every day (and night) to help me through the struggles.  He gives me the courage and the strength to endure.  After all, He endured the cross for me.  Surely I can endure what I go through, for Him.  And you can doo.  Trust Him.  Lean into Him.  He truly is all you need.

Blessings!
