I did nothing this weekend. Well, I guess that isn't really true. Maybe I am so tired because I DID do something this weekend. It just wasn't all what I had planned - and wanted - to get done. I wonder if I can blame it on my older sister for the 4AM call yesterday (although I was already up). Ok - I led into it so I can 'add addendum' to my comments yesterday. I called her back later in the day and 'oh, I'm sorry, I thought it was 4 in the afternoon!' She had been working on papers laying across her bed the day before and had fallen asleep. Waking up later, she thought it was still the same day - not realizing that she had slept through the rest of the that day, and part of the night! Ok - so all my assumptions were wrong. Well, I'm glad they were. Since she rarely leaves her apartment, and I imagine the curtains are closed all the time, most days she forgets what day it is. Or what time it is.
Yesterday, after I finished my quiet time, I fixed eggs ole' and we went to our granddaughter's for brunch. We had a nice breakfast and got to play with the great-granddaughter. It wasn't long after we ate that we left and came home. I was exhausted! So was hubby. I commented about needing a nap - but instead we watched one of the services we usually watch on Sunday mornings.
I wanted to go ahead after the service and get started in the garage, but allowed hubby to 'tell me what to do' (the very thing I dislike) and got in the recliner .......and quickly we both fell asleep. Then I received one call, which lasted only a few minutes. Then I got another call that lasted a few minutes longer. Then I really crashed - and we slept an hour and a half! I mean I slept deep! Because it was late when we finally took that nap (around 1:30-ish) it was nearly 3PM when we woke up! Even Sheeba slept! Too late (in my opinion) to start going through boxes in the garage so I crochet'd a bit while hubby watched TV. A pizza for dinner (cause I didn't want to cook), we ate, I talked to my little sister for about an hour - came back and read a bit, and back to bed at our usual time. I really thought I'd have trouble sleeping, but slept sound again - and struggled to wake up this morning. I'm sure I dozed off a couple times while I read. I'm finally starting to wake up a bit - good thing - it's Monday morning!
I haven't decided what I'm going to do with 'today'. Both of my bosses are on vacation. I had thought I would take today off too. Had even put in for the day off. But when things weren't falling into place for a drive down to Tucson, I cancelled it. But I can also put it back in again. I had told my boss I had cancelled it, but I can also text her that I decided to take it after all. At the current moment, I am undecided. If I take the day off - and go spend it in the garage cleaning as I wanted to do all weekend - I know I will have numerous interruptions. Yes, I would have also had them on Saturday or Sunday had I been there - I'm just not in the mood for them today. I may just go ahead and work if we aren't doing anything; after all, the garage isn't going anywhere and I can do what I want to do - next weekend.
One of the calls I received yesterday afternoon was from my youngest son. I knew his wife had tested positive for COVID last week. Yesterday results came in for the rest of the family (taken a second time cause the step-son was going to his dad's last night) and my son and the step-son tested positive. Because my granddaughter stays in her room most of the time, she came back negative. Only the daughter-in-law says she isn't feeling well and is quarantined in the bedroom. My son was told in 2-5 days he may have symptoms. They told the dad of the step-son he was positive but the dad wanted to get him anyway - so it's on him if his family ends up getting it.
Hubby and I got out late afternoon yesterday and took a 30 minute walk. He doesn't like to walk, but we have discussed numerous times the need for us to get out of the house and get some type of exercise. I stayed with him this time and tried to keep my steps close to his - well, my one to his two most times. It was cool enough in the evening to walk a little bit. I hope we keep it up.
I started 'The Cross' book recently and it is proving to be 'deep'. The chapters are interesting and there are discussion questions at the end of it. Of course I just skim through them, but hubby can use this book in one of his studies with his friends. I gave him the book and I'm reading on my kindle. What is it about? Think about it. The Cross is IT. Without the cross, what would we have? Many people focus on the Resurrection of Jesus. But our focus should be on the CROSS. Jesus DIED on the cross, taking all our sins and all of our cares and all of our burdens - to the CROSS. It took the CROSS to get to the resurrection. Yes, we celebrate the fact that Jesus rose from the dead, resurrected. We celebrate that. But it took the CROSS to get there. I hadn't really thought about it really.
Most of us agree that yeah, Good Friday is the crucifixion. Jesus endured much after the Last Supper and the betrayal in the garden. Beatings, Scourging, that nowadays I don't know if anyone could endure it. But Jesus did. For you and for me. Then the CROSS, on which He took it all upon His own shoulders. The sin was so great that His Father, our Heavenly Father, had to turn His face away for He could not bear to look at sin.... OUR sin. But Sunday was coming..... and the tomb was opened by the earth shakings and ..... well, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ came forth, Resurrected. He is the reason we celebrate Easter. The tomb is empty. But we should also celebrate the CROSS, on which He died, because our sins are nailed there.
How much thought do you give to the cross at Easter? Most children are caught up in Easter baskets and bunny rabbits and baby chickens. But what if we taught our children it is the CROSS we need to focus our attention on? The reason WHY Jesus was died and was raised from the dead. Someone once told me that Catholics always focus on the cross with Jesus still hanging on it. We Christians tend to wear a cross with Jesus off the cross (because He isn't still on the cross) because we turn our focus to the Resurrection. But perhaps we need to turn back and look at the CROSS once again. It's the reason WHY.
Think about it.
Blessings!
