I actually accomplished something yesterday. I did get out to walk 2 miles .... hubby and I started out together then he went back to the house as 'it was the first time' and I continued on for another 1/2 mile. Yet - and I can't figure this out yet - I ended up with about 7434 steps for yesterday - and he was over 10,000. I guess I sit at my desk too much. Well, I can agree it is 'too much' - it took a lot for me to even leave for the 1/2 hour or so to take a walk. I never know when my 'big boss' will send me an email to schedule a meeting she wants that day. Or the next. And I always want to jump on it right away.
I also accomplished something else I want to get in the habit of doing - and that is drinking 1 gallon of water a day. Yep, I did it. During the day it wasn't too bad drinking a glass of water here and there, but when you are down to that last glass or so of water, I found I had to 'push it down'. But I did it. My goal now is to complete it before 8PM (or earlier) so that I'm not up 3 times during the night like I was last night - and then struggle to wake up this morning. In fact, I have fallen asleep twice since sitting in my chair. Obviously since I got up at 4:15AM, (cause I couldn't get the body to move out of bed) and it is now 5:37AM, I haven't slept long, but I have fallen back to sleep. It may turn out to be a long day today - ya think? Actually, in thinking about it, I drank more than a gallon for I had water a couple other times during the day.... I have a gallon jug that I was measuring my water by - so I know how much of it I drank - and I did get all of that down, but I did have a couple other glasses besides. So no wonder I was up during the night!
My favorite boss is on vacation as of today and will be flying back east until next Tuesday. Lucky her - just to get away. I also found out the retirement date of my other boss (the top boss for our unit) and it is June 11th. Now I need to figure out what can we do for a retirement during COVID restrictions. The others that have 'retired' or left our company, we've sent out a group greeting card and took up $$. I don't like to get involved with the money part. The first one who retired last December - this boss handed her the money she collected - $700 - rather than buying a gift. Actually, she wasn't retiring, she was going to another company. My boss will be retiring so I don't know what to do about her retirement gift. I wonder if I can get someone else to handle that part.... Venmo and Zelle are perfect for these transactions in this day.
So I have the rest of this week with just one boss. I may or may not hear from her..... she just shoots me emails to schedule meetings for her. Or move meetings. It can be a quiet week - which is what I am hoping. Unless hubby changes my mind, I have scheduled next Monday off work so that I can work in the garage. Had thought about going to Tucson, but he won't do a 'day trip' and we have Sheeba to care for. Will see how the weekend progresses. I may NEED to go back to work on Monday - even though both of my bosses will be gone Monday AND Tuesday.
Yesterday wasn't that busy - although I was busy - so I started putting together my family medical history so that when I go to my new doctor in July I will have a list of all my family's ailments. They usually ask what runs in the family. I knew of some, diabetes and heart issues on the male side of my family, but wasn't sure about my sisters. They both seem to have medical issues. My older sister called me yesterday so I asked her about mother, because I knew of a couple things - COPD, Multiple Myeloma, but wasn't sure of what else. (I really need to ask my brother what is on the death certificate). In talking about herself, when I mentioned mother had COPD, that I knew of, my older sister goes 'yeah, I have COPD too'. Surprised, I commented back, YOU have COPD? Do you realize that is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease? Yeah, I know, I have it. Ok.... She has rheumatoid arthritis, GIST, (and now) COPD, ... and I forget what else she said. We briefly touched base on my deceased brothers and their cause of death and then of course our younger brother and sister.
She doesn't know that my little sister and I talk nearly every day.... and she was naming things that I knew weren't true. But I did confirm it when I talked with my little sister later ... it wasn't true. In fact, most of the things she shared (both of the younger ones had colon surgery - - those were doctor mistakes, not something wrong with their body), arthritis in knees, etc.
All I can say is 'Thank You Jesus for keeping me healthy!' For wondering minds, I am healthy (as far as I know). I am only on one medication (thyroid) for which I pride myself. I'm grateful the only "handful of pills" (actually very few compared to some) are my vitamins I choose to take. I sometimes joke around that God moved me away from Indiana cause all my siblings back there have medical issues. I come out here to live and I'm the healthiest in my family. For which I am truly grateful to God for keeping me healthy. I hope to remain that way with trying to eat better and to get some exercise on occasion.
Psalm 139 is a good place to start when thinking about how you were made and what good God has planned for you. We sometimes mess that up by doing things we should do in moderation - over-eating, over-drinking, sit-down lifestyle instead of getting some movement going in our body. Sometimes God allows things to happen. Not to necessarily harm us, but to turn our hearts towards Him. He loves us more than any of us can imagine and He wants us to depend on Him and turn to Him when we are troubled, when we are sick, when we ... fill in the blank. God loves us so much, He sent His one and only Son to die for us.
And that alone gives us a reason to LIVE. So how are you doing with the 'living' part today? Who are you living for? What are you living for? Does that satisfy your soul - or do you find yourself longing for the "something more"? That "something more" is Jesus. Invite Him into your life - and you will find that you really will start living.
Blessings!
