I think I was stressing out all day yesterday at things that were out of my control. It's crazy that I was, but it seemed that everything happened and it made me crazy. Want to just hear about a few things?
1) The package that I had mailed to my little sister '3 day priority' on December 28th (yes, LAST Monday).... I had been checking status and all I had been getting all last week was 'in transit'. We thought for sure that it would be arriving 'yesterday' since it had been 7 days. I went online straight to the USPS link for tracking versus the 28777 where you can get texts using the tracking number. I noticed it had... December 28 - received at USPS (city). December 28 @ 6:10PM left USPS (city). The next post was January 1 - in transit. January 4 @ 2:10AM received at Phoenix Regional USPS. My first reaction was that it had been 'in transit' and I must have messed up on the address and it was being returned to me. I pondered it and I am pretty sure I verified the address before releasing it for mailing. FINALLY, it dawned on me. It has never left Arizona. It has sat somewhere for a week from my little city - to finally arrive in Phoenix. I lost it. That started my morning. There is nothing I can do, but pray that it will continue on its route to Indiana and will arrive within a reasonable about of time. It was mailed AFTER Christmas so of course there were still numerous packages that were backlogged to get to their recipients, but still, you would think they would try to keep up - but an entire 7 days to get 20 miles away? Unbelievable. And where was it all this time?
2) Politics. That is enough to make one puke. I don't pay much attention to it but when it came across my eyes that a Methodist minister prayed the opening prayer at the Senate meeting and he not only acknowledged Indian god, he ended his prayer A man and A woman. He should have his credentials pulled. What blasphemy! Amen is not 'a man'. The Hebrew meaning is 'so it is done' (or something like that - I forget the actual wording.) It's a 'stamp' of what is said is said. That alone is enough to make ones' hair curl. I was disgusted, and angry, and frustrated.... and then the speaker of the house was re-elected and she is such an evil woman in my opinion. Changing genders and how they refer to them - a boy or a girl can only be referred to as a 'child'? Seriously? God created us man and woman.
There were a couple other things that set me off yesterday, but I think you get the jest of my frustration yesterday. And all I did was snack all day. Anything I could get my hands on. I was out of control. So glad that I wasn't fasting for I would have really been a mess! God, in His wisdom, let me experience these emotions before the fast. Hallelujah!
And to continue my whining this morning..... I didn't sleep well last night. We went to bed around 8:30PM as is our custom Monday - Friday. At least most nights. I fell asleep and at 10:40PM Hubby's alarm on his phone went off (he keeps his by the bed - mine is in the other room) - and with his hearing aids out, he didn't hear it. It wasn't the shrill noise an alert makes, just the buzzing of the phone, which continued for about6-8 buzzes, I'd guess. Awakened from a deep sleep, I awoke with a headache. It was nearly midnight before I got back to sleep. I know this because I kept tossing and turning and looking at the clock to see what time it was and had I possibly gone back to sleep. I hadn't, at least not until after midnight. When my alarm went off I definitely did not want to get up this morning. I'm still 'cranky sleepy' but at least I have my coffee now, and I may end up drinking another cup or two today. Usually I have only one cup, drinking my tea of tumeric and ginger and a green tea later in the day.
Ok - my whining is out and now it's a new day. I'm starting to come awake (thank you, coffee) and feeling somewhat alive.
Hubby is starting a new workout program of sorts today. He and a friend are to meet and go workout together at one of the rec centers nearby early this morning - and then I think they are going to breakfast. It will be interesting how long this will continue as they only plan to do it on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Not placing any bets; I hope they do continue it. Hubby isn't as grumpy when he works out and he sleeps better. During the day, anyway.
Oh yes, I forgot, there is a #3 that I can add to my frustration of yesterday.
3) I had received notice from Amazon that my new weight bench was to arrive yesterday. I was excited and looking forward to putting it together and getting my workout going. I watched as UPS pulled up front and picks up this small box to bring to my porch. The thought occurred to me that it seemed to be awfully light, and small, for my weight bench, as I watched it being carried to the porch. I waited until the UPS guy literally ran back to his truck as Sheeba doesn't like anyone on our property and was inside the house barking loudly. (that part was funny). I go out to pick up the box - and instead of my weight bench, you'd never guess what it was. A portable projection screen. For indoors or outdoors. SERIOUSLY. Now how can you grab a portable projection screen for a weight bench? Needless to say, I jumped online and let Amazon know they sent the wrong item and I wanted the weight bench shipped. UPS should pick up this box today and I won't get my REAL weight bench until NEXT Monday.
Yeah, that's how my Monday went. I ate more than I should have; ate many things that I shouldn't have, and I am not going to bother to check the scales... I will be back in sync with my correct eating habits for at least most of the day. Besides, I think I have finally gotten rid of most of the 'bad stuff'. And I haven't made the white chocolate macadamia nut cookies for my son yet, nor the oatmeal raisin cookies for a grandson. I won't be doing that probably for a few more days. And then we are gone next weekend so it won't happen then. And I just realized, I probably won't be writing in here for a couple days either. Bummer. And I was getting to where it is nearly on a daily basis. Will you miss me? Not that my life is so exciting that you just can't wait to read what I'm doing now.
Today I'm back working and catching up on what I didn't do yesterday. I managed to get a lot of meetings scheduled, but with my stress level being what it was, I must admit I didn't get things done that I probably should have focused on. Today is another day and my mind is in a better place. That is a good thing, for I could easily balloon up several pounds at the rate I was going yesterday. Although I really didn't eat THAT bad, it just seemed I was eating constantly. Heated up sauerkraut and kielbasa yesterday for dinner so did nibble on that throughout the day so that wasn't bad. It helped the stress eating.
Praying that today will go much better than yesterday. Will check USPS to see if my package has moved towards Indiana - and since there is nothing I can do about it - will hope she will get it soon. At least it wasn't for Christmas. Her package to me for Christmas took 10 days to get here - and she mailed it a week before the cut off date. Her Christmas package was mailed December 2nd and I think it was about 10 days later before she got it. What's with USPS? UGH. I heard many have called in with COVID and therefore the trucks with the mail and with packages are just sitting at the stations, waiting for someone to pick them up. Guess that is what has happened to this one.
So what have I learned from the stress yesterday? I allowed myself to get caught up in it instead of just taking a deep breath and letting it go. There was nothing I could do about it. Any of it. So why did I allow myself to get worked up? I guess it is because I'm just human. Just like you. Life is too short to get worked up about things I have no control over.
One thing I do know - God's got this. I don't need to stress about anything. The package will eventually get to where it is to go. I'll eventually get my weight bench (did I really want to start it now?). I have no control over politics, but I can pray about it and allow God to do His work in it. It isn't about me. There isn't anything I can do about any of it. So I am letting it go. God's got it.
Hope you have an amazing day, and find joy in the middle of it. God's got it!
Blessings!

I agree completely with your frustration about the politics. I'd even go further, but don't want to cause more angst....
