I received an email of rejection this morning for a job that, in the beginning, I thought I had a good chance of receiving. As I have waited these past two weeks, I have observed more and listened more, and decided that perhaps that wasn't what I wanted to do. I love being with people and being involved - and I would be somewhat restricted in this position. If I had been offered the position, I think I would have asked for a day or two to pray about it before making a final decision. The next job I take will be the one that I will end my work journey with. I don't job hop and don't compare jobs - I do my job and do it well. I want to be sure where ever I end up that is where I want to be.
So why am I excited because I received a rejection email? Because I know that God has something really special for me! Am I being optimistic? Perhaps.
Perhaps it is because of my trust in the One who provides for all my needs - Jehovah Jireh. Perhaps it is because I am not yet in desperate straits. Perhaps it is because I know Who is in control, and it isn't me.
After applying for two positions outside of my skill set on Monday, I received an email yesterday from a friend whom I worked with several years ago. He heard I was looking for a job - and advised his company would be hiring a sr. administrative assistant soon, and for me to keep an eye out for the notice. I got real excited for he was fun to work with, but as I checked his company's website, I noticed the parent company. Here is where God will have to intervene if it is to be mine. I have applied at the parent company for three different administrative positions this past month. On each one, the next morning I received the rejection email stating my qualifications did not meet their need. If they had actually looked at my resume (i.e., the computer kick it out) and interviewed me, they would probably see that I was over qualified to do the job. I will apply again when I see the job opening on the website. I will then notify my friend that it is there and ask him to have HR pull the resume and see if that will make a difference. I have connections at both job locations; the difference is that one is 22 miles away, and the other is less than 10 miles, which is what I have said I wanted.
It would be fun to work with my best friend and several friends that I have there. It would be nice, also, that I could be close to home. I dreaded the long drive before, but if I must do it, I must. I am needing to find a job soon so that we don't get into desperate straits. God has blessed me so much with this time off; now I wait for Him to bless me with the job He wants me to have.
So I'm excited. Me trying to find a job on my own - sucks. Me allowing God to direct my path to the job He wants me to have... awesome.
Psalm 16:5-8 - "Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken."
I read my son's blog this morning where he had interviewed well and was asked to complete an application online. Along with the application was a 'test' to determine your ability to do this job. I'm not sure what the job was, but he answered the questions honestly. Questions like (I'm assuming), would you accidentally put a tool in your pocket and take it home? could be answered different ways. Could you in all honesty say 'NEVER!'. Or would you say yes based on you know that you could be distracted and could do that. In questions like that I wish they had a place you could write a comment rather than a yes or no answer. Anyway, the question should be asked 'would you bring it back if you did?' Regardless, I understand he did not get the job, which is sad for he would do an excellent job. I am sure it is discouraging for him; but I am proud of him for answering the questions honestly. It is kind of sad that they would not ask for an explanation; once they understood why he answered the way he did could have made the difference of employment. The company's loss, for sure. I'm confident when it is time and the right company is there, he will find the job that will use his skills and abilities.
I need to get off this blog and sending out resumes. Doing my part in this journey. I can't get a job if I don't apply; and God won't just hand it to me without me doing something to get it. He has given me these skill sets for a reason. I am truly excited to see how He is going to use them.
Keep looking up, you who feel downtrodden and alone. You are not by yourselves, our God is walking this journey with you. Tell Him how you feel and that you need His help. Trust Him. He will provide. After all, He alone is Jehovah Jireh, your Provider.
Blessings!
