UGH my neck is still twitching with pulses that send chills down my body. I'm pretty sure it is a pinched nerve from somewhere - but don't know where. I slept well last night without any problems, and when I got up this morning it wasn't hurting, but here it is going on 11AM and I am moving my neck every which way to get relief. Even the essential oils aren't working. Only annoying me cause I don't like the smell of all these together. But if it will help, I will endure. Still have not figured out what is causing the neck to irritate me. Hubby is bugging me to go get a massage and I just might do that. Boo - the person I used at the usual place is no longer there so guess I will go ahead and find someone at a location closer to us now. Nothing available until Friday @ 5PM that I can attend to. Will have to think about it for a few minutes before I select it.
I'm feeling antsy today. Can't seem to sit still. Perhaps part of it is my neck. Just put a lot of oils used for headaches on it - sure do hope it works. It's hard to focus when I have distractions like that. I'd rather be in the garage unpacking rather than sitting here trying to work when I don't want to. My boss and I had a meeting this morning at 8AM and we both have agreed we don't want to go back into an office to work. For one thing, I'm nearly 50 miles away from my office now, and they are looking at buildings even farther away than that! It may be a career changer for me if they insist I come in every day. Quitting work won't go over well with hubby, I'm sure. If I can just hold off for another year or so. My son-in-law has done a lot to make it possible that I can retire next year. Our new house payment, including HOA, is still less than what we paid at our other house (and we owe less). I have enough money left yet to pay off my car and I only owe a very small amount on a couple credit cards that I could pay them off right now if needed. I just like having some money in my account so am leaving it there as long as I can. If hubby would give me back the bills, I know I could quit work by the first of the year, but with not knowing what he is doing I cannot. I will not give him my entire check because I can't trust that he will pay all the bills on time. Past experience shows he does it when he wants to.
Today is my daughter and son-in-law's 25th wedding anniversary. They were planning on coming over here and putting together my desk and unpacking boxes, but I hope they go off and do something fun. Maybe at least go out to lunch and dinner. I'm not going to bug them, anyway. Putting the desk together can wait, as can unpacking boxes. That's my therapy anyway.
Teehee. Hubby went off to the bank this morning..... so I ran out to the garage and grabbed a stack of books and the step-stool and filled in a small section of the bookcase. He hasn't noticed yet. It's pitiful that I have to resort to that to get things done. But, I do what I can.
One thing for sure about our new home - the air vents are perfect for people who need air conditioning blowing on them frequently. EVERY room and every place that I sit, has the air blowing right on me. And I don't do cold air unless I'm burning hot. Which I'm not, I'm always cold. Even now I sit witha shawl over m
y shoulders becuase I'm cold. Of course yesterday and today it is partly because of the twitches in my neck that send cold chills over me. But I don't do cold. Cold, I want to curl up in a ball with my blankie and a good book and want to be left alone. Hopefully this winter it will reverse and I will have all the warm air that I want! The air circulation in this place is fabulous, for sure!
I haven't gotten much done this morning so need to force myself to focus and work. Hope you are having a good day!
A place where life happens... filled with thoughts, stories, and what not....

Busy and Crazy Day....
I don't know what it is, but it's like I have a pinched nerve in my neck that constantly sends electric pulses down my neck - and it is driving me nuts. I have put heat presses, cold presses, I have used the roller on my back and neck - and I've tried stretching it - and even now I am dealign with it. It sends these pulses, then I get a chill. Sure hope it goes away soon. I've done about all I know to do with it. Have no idea what it is unless 1) I slept wrong, or 2) sitting at this computer (and probably not properly since it's a makeshift) has tensed it up. It is very annoying, to say the least! If I lay my head back in the chair, I get relief. But, I can't stay that way either.
My daughter called me this morning that I was getting an early birthday present. I tried to think what it could be - and all I could come up with was probably a sewing machine cabinet. But - when it arrived today, it is a really, really, nice computer desk! It's also 133 pounds so we can't pull it in from the front porch. My son-in-law and grandson will have to bring it in and put it together for me. I guess working off this small vanity table didn't set too well since hubby took the big office with the large desk space. I wasn't complaining - I choose my battles. But it will be nice not to have to stretch back away from the monitor becuase the monitor and keyboard are next to each other and that's all I can get on the table. Maybe that's what is wrong with my neck.
In my quest of getting my neck to stop hurting I was able to eliminate another box in the garage. Slow progress, but at least it is getting done. I hope to get out there tonight and try to get more things done. Sigh. I've found 4 more boxes of books which will set hubby off becuase I will take up more of "his" space on the bookcases. I see the top row is entirely empty - but then, we will need a ladder to get them up there. I wish I could send him to the store by himself or something so that I can get them put up. I can't do anything that affects him when he's home. And he watches everything that I try to do as well. He needs a life.
I finally have a plan in place for my older and younger sisters. I texted them both last night that in 2022 us three girls will do a 'Sister's Getaway' and do a cruise. Well, the older sister doesn't want to do a cruise so I talked her into us flying to Hawaii, then we can do a small boat cruise (whale watch?) to go to another island. She has never been anywhere. The younger sister has been on a cruise; don't remember where she went but when she retired, she took her entire family on a cruise. And paid for it. That's all well and good cause she had enough money to do that. I don't, so each sister will be paying for her own trip. I told them we have two years to save for it so we have plenty of time. Hopefully by then the coronavirus will be gone and life will be somewhat back to normal. Of course I haven't told hubby - he will have a hissy fit that I would dare plan a trip without him. I just want to live my life. It's not a big thing, but I want to be with others. He only wants to be with me. He desperately needs to find a hobby or a life - I don't care which - but one that doesn't involve me. I'm dying of being smothered. So - Sister's Getaway - Hawaii 2022! My older sister actually sounded excited. I feel sorry for her; she really has had a rough life.
Sheeba got a bath and nails trimmed today. So glad there are people who travel to groom dogs. This company has their people pull a small trailer behind their vehicle and they groom the dogs there. After PetSmart has banned Sheeba from their 'spa', we had to find something else. Sheeba willingly goes with this lady and lets her bathe her, brush her teeth, and trim her nails. She doesn't like being dried with the blower, so she usually comes in a little damp - and that's ok. She can dry naturally. We're getting her set up for a monthly wash and trim - and they come to our house so it works perfectly. Cost is comparable to what we were having to pay at PetSmart.
I found a card as I was unpacking the other day that I had written down from one of Mark Batterson's books. I imagine it was the Circle Maker, which is an excellent book, by the way.
Make the sacrifice.
Take the risk.
Draw the circle.
In other words, do what you need to do, get out of your comfort zone, and focus on what you want. My interpretation of course.
How bad do you want something that you would give up something to get it, and let go of other things to get it? First thought that comes to mind is a diet. Yeah, me and food. How bad do I want to lose weight? Enough to give up my ice cream? Enough that I will 'risk' letting go of fatty foods to eat a good diet of good food, and dream about the size I want to be? I guess time will tell.
What is important to you? What would you give up for your child, your grandchild? Even your great-grandchild. Would you give up something you enjoy, something you want, you desire, to just be able to have time to make memories? Something to think about!
Blessings!

Monday morning....another work day....
I set my alarm for 4AM for this morning so that I could get up, have uninterrupted quiet time, and then walk Sheeba before sitting down in front of the new desk that I hvae. Yep, they brought over the vanity desk - and although it isn't very wide, at least I can fit my laptop, monitor, and keyboard on it. Barely. And I have a room in which I can shut the door when I need to focus. I have a window in which I can look out of when I need to refocus my eyes. (and I have a bed if I want to take a nap). :-)
I turned off the alarm around midnight cause I decided I did not want to get up that early. Why, I don't know. Then I tossed and turned all night because I knew I wanted to get up at least by 5AM... well, I got up around 4:30AM I think, then sat in my chair with my blankie and my eyes shut, praying and thanking God for His blessings.
That's one thing I'm learning (yet, I already knew, but didn't always do) from the book I'm reading, mentioned in yesterday's blog, that we should thank God for EVERYthing. That includes a home to live in, food to eat, electricity, water, COFFEE, spouse, children, friends, church, my job, things that we need or things that we do that we take for granted. So I took a little time today to thank God for some of those. And today I read not only about gratitude, but also about faith. That part is sowing in faith. Doing faith pledges, above and beyond what we think we can afford to give. That's an interesting one. Hubby and I disagree so much on that one... we have actually fought about how much to give God. Yes, you'd think that 10% is a no-brainer, and most times it is. He reads it, and agrees, but getting him to commit when it's a lot of money, is something else. In Malachi it talks about bringing the full measure to God and see what He will do with it. That is one of the reasons I have my own checking account, so that I can tithe off the money I get (except my check as it goes into the joint account). I know, I know, people don't understand why I have a separate checking acount. I have to. I can't trust someone that my bills will be paid on time (car, credit cards, etc. when I have them) and my credit score is what gets us this house. My name is what is on the loan becuase I pay my own bills. Enough said.
I've seen God work in my own life. Years ago when I lived in Kirklin, we never had any extra money. I mean, money was just not found and life with three children took all that we had. But we survived and I learned how to cook from scratch, and we never thought we were poor. I guess because that is how I was raised - we never had things we wanted, but we always had what we needed. Anyway, one Sunday I went to church with my friend Bertie. Just us and our children. The offering plate came around and I wanted to put something in and had no idea what I had in my purse. So I just decided that whatever I found in my purse I would give to God. I found $2. So into the offering plate it went. I didn't think anymore about it, but a few days later I sold some ceramic pieces I had made and we made nearly $20 I think it was. And I immediately thought about how I gave God the only $2 I had, and by doing so, He gave us back more. I have never forgotten that, nor His faithfulness to take care of us.
It's the little things that when we give them up to God, He always provides what we need, just when we need it. Even when we think we need it the most, He may withhold it, because He has something better for us. The deal is, you have to trust Him. You have to give it all to Him. Like my son needing/wanting a job. Circumstances being what they are with covid, his original plans with a job have failed him. But I believe that if he gives it to God, and asks Him to provide all that they need, God will do just that. In His timing, of course.
Ok - it's time for me to get to work and I am getting emails from both my bosses today already. Hope you have a fantastic Monday morning.
What are you able to express gratitude for? I'm definitely grateful for my health, and for my job. Yes, I'd like to retire at some point, and I will. But for now, God has me right where He wants me. And I want to stay in the palm of His hand.
Blessings!

Sunday......a day of rest.
I want to make it that way, anyway! I'm sitting at my work computer because I still have work I need to get done before tomorrow. And yet, here I am typing this.
Got up early again this morning - around 5:15AM. If I am going to start walking Sheeba again I will need to get back up at my 4AM time so that I can have my 'quiet time'. Again this morning, Sheeba only let me have a little. I took my Bible, my journal, and another book I'm reading - "Double Blessing" by Mark Batterson. I love his books as they encourage me and help me get through a lot of things. So I grab my books, a pen and pencil, and head out the front door. We have a small fenced in patio out front which is very nice as I can let Sheeba roam freely there while I sit outside. The back is not fenced and I cannot let her roam freely, but have to keep her on a leash. Anyway, Sheeba will lay outside (or get up and watch the birds flying tree to tree and making a lot of noise) near me while I get my reading and writing done. For the second time in two days, I had a humingbird fly about two feet in front of me. It just stays in place. I did get to the store yesterday and bought a couple humingbird feeders as I saw it yesterday as well. I put one to hang from the gutter next to the house, and the other I had hanging off the lemon tree (I got a lemon AND a grapefruit tree in the front yard). But, it was flying around a potted plant versus the tree, so I moved it over to the plant. They are so cool to watch.
It was so peaceful and quiet out this morning as I sat out on the patio. I was able to get through most of my time before hubby came out and started talking. I know, I should have more patience with him, but it is so hard.
I worked in the garage yesterday for about 4 hours, moving boxes and going through things. Filled up two more boxes for Savers and two huge bags of trash. I threw away things like crazy. Things like report cards of my kids though, I had to start a stack for them. I even found an email that my daughter had sent out right after she found she had leukemia. I passed it on to her last night. She didn't have a copy so was glad to get it. It was also her speech she gave to the insurnace board for her appeal to pay for her bone marrow transplant. Things that she knew of, but couldn't remember what it said. I have a small stack for the two boys too.
And still lots more boxes to go thruogh. Sigh. I love books, so I have lots of books (and that's not counting what I have on Kindle, which I have started filling up. I have given away boxes of books to the church in the past - and I still have books. Like I said, I love books. A dream I had when I was growing up was that I would have wall to wall shelves of books entirely around a room. My own personal library. That won't happen; that dream faded years ago. But I still have several boxes of books. Since hubby took the "office" with all the bookshelves, I asked him to mingle our books and just put them all on the bookcases. Now mind you, he might have 25 books total. He came out to the garage yesterday and was yelling at me that I already had filled up 6 1/2 shelves and he only had two, and he needed shelves to put picutres (of me, of me and him) on. I looked at him and said, I thought we were going to put all our books together? He said yes, but he did'nt realize I had so many and he wanted his own space there too. I just said fine, I'd move a bookcase into the back room so that I could put my books that are 'too many' for HIS bookcase on it. He will die when he finds out I found two more boxes of books thus far. After all, he takes the office because he has so much work to do. And me? currently I'm at the kitchen table again until we can find a desk that I can use. A granddaughter has one they are going to bring over. My daughter has an incomplete secretary desk (no cover) that they are going to fix up for me that I can put in another room. And I bought the one before we left the house. But of course hubby has decided he wants that one so that he would have more space to work on. sigh. Sometimes I feel like I don't even count - and I'm the one that is still having to work so that he can live the lifestyle he wants.
And he wonders why I get so angry with him.We still have a lot of boxes in storage and they may come over this week. Now to get hubby to take the three boxes I have already filled to Savers. Maybe I will just push them off to the side and check with St. Vincent de Paul and see if they will come pick them up. Goodwill is owned by a family for profit; I would rather give to a charity. I bet I could find a truck that would come out and pick up. I just want to make it worth their while. And then I won't have to beg hubby to take them.
We are settling in more and more and I am really loving our new place. I love the quiet. It's a little too close with hubby; he either follows me around because he doesn't want to do anything and wants to see what I'm doing, or interrupting me because he's hungry and hints he wants me to stop and fix something for him. Long story. He actually did just now fix himself a sandwich, although I cooked a big breakfast around 8AM and it's noon now. He's at his desk "working" now. We watched church this morning; or rather I watched it all. He kept falling asleep and snoring.
Well, this is getting long and I need to get some minutes typed this morning. I thank God for our new place - I really do like it.
Blessings.

Blessings.

I can use a nap about now....
I really can. Slept until 5:30AM today = which is about 1.5 hours later than usual. Got up, took Sheeba out to do her thing, then curled up with my Bible to read. Didn't get to read much before hubby was up and I was getting interrupted. Got a cup of coffee and a glass of water and tried to settle down again, but Sheeba wouldn't let me. I finally finished my coffee and started unloading boxes. We (I) got through several boxes today and I have a box filled for Savers again. Or whatever charity I can find nearby. I know I'm going to have a lot more. We have made a big dent in the boxes in the garage, but still have a large number of boxes still in storage. They must be mostly hubby's from the way he talks. He can't find anything. That's fine with me if they are all his. I don't have to unpack those. But, alas, I think he is wrong and only one or two are his. I have the unpacking of all the others.
Why do I have it, you ask? Because he says (and probably rightly so) that he has no idea of how I want things or where I want them. Fair enough. I told him there was a large white bag that was ripped in the garage that was full of medical stuff (i.e., hot water bag, bandaids, aspirin, etc. and if he would go get it, he could put the things on a shelf in the hall linen closet. Now mind you, I didn't tell him specifically WHERE to put things, I basically said that he could figure it out by looking at what I already had on the shelves. (pan face). I went to see what he had done with the bag. The entire bag, still full, is under the last shelf, on the floor. Still full. And I don't care. It's not a critical thing; I was trying to find something that he could do. I was wrong.
The son in law and grandson were back over today putting in new deadbolt locks and hanging towel racks and I'm not sure what else, but they have been here a good part of the day. I'm really grateful for all they have done for us. It wouldn't have gotten done otherwise as hubby doesn't want to try, doesn't want to learn, and just plain won't attempt anything. I quit asking him years ago.
I'm having to work a bit today, still making up my time for Tuesday being off work. My boss said that I could work a couple hours here and there and it would make up my time. That's nice caues I don't have that much time off and I know I have to take some in August. The plus right now is that I'm also working from home, and I can get up and move around some - which I rarely do. I have a bunch of classes I need to get done in the Learning Center - mandatory classes - so I can work on those too. Which I don't know if I will get to today - but will try to get a few out tomorrow. Today, I'm tired.
My daughter came over and took me to pay for our washer/dryer. Stopped at Freddie's to eat for lunch then came back home. Now the SIL and GS have gone to pick up the washer and dryer and will get them set up for us shortly after. Little by little we are getting things pulled together.
Need to get busy on some things before I fall asleep. I hear hubby snoring here in the kitchen and he's watching TV in the other room. Sheeba is asleep on the floor by me. I'll crash tonight cause it's been a long busy day.
Hope you ahve a good weekend - and be safe.
Blessings!

back to work and unpacking still.....
It's amazing that with all the boxes in the garage, Hubby cannot find 'his' boxes. After all, that is all he is unpacking, HIS things. So I went out in the garage and just checking around found 5 that had his name on the box. I guess that he must have finished those as he asked if I wanted him to put my books in the bookcase. I had told him we could put our books together rather than keeping separate. So here he comes and sits down. I need to rest for a few minutes. Then, can you come look at this stack and see if you want to keep them? I don't think you want to but won't throw away your things. So I get up and go look. Yeah, most I could throw away, but he had already irritated me, so I told him I wanted to keep it all. After all, I am working today so really don't have time to go through things. His comment? I don't know why you are keeping that stuff. It doesn't matter if he doesn't know why. I said I was keeping it until I'm ready to throw it away. Which may be later today, tomorrow, next week, or even next month!
The son-in-law and grandson are over today installing new doorknobs on the doors and adding outlet covers. Not sure what else they are plannign to do. Grandson got hubby's computer up and running today as when they were trying to yesterday, hubby didn't know where he packed the cord to the PC. :-)
The house is slowly coming together. We are getting the furniture placed where we want it and should get our washer and dryer either today or tomorrow. They are ready to be picked up. The refrigerator should come in soon - well, about a week or two, I think. This place will be really nice once it's all fixed up. I hope I live a long time so that I can enjoy it.
Just sent hubby to weinerschnitzel to pick up some dogs for lunch. He left his phone here so I walked out to the sidewalk as he made a u-turn to go the other direction. I'm waving his phone at him - and he just kept on driving. I hope he doesn't have any questions about the order cause he can't call us. It's clouding up outside - maybe we are going to get some rain. It seems to be a little cooler here than at our former home. We sat outside last night for about 1/2 hour or so and it felt so nice out. The moon lit up our little patio and it was so relaxing. Even Sheeba laid down at our feet while we were out there. She is missing her morning walks and since I am off work tomorrow I hope to take her for a walk so that I can get an idea of the layout of the neighborhood. We found an easy way to the grocery yesterday (thank you, Siri!).
This weekend we will also find the dog park, and who knows what else!
Have a great weekend!

What a busy few days .... and then some!
I just lost this really long paragraph I just typed. Groan. How can I remember all the things I just typed out?!
We are moved. It's been a crazy busy weekend with my three children and son-in-law, and 4 of my grandchildren, working together for our good. They helped pack, and load, and then unpack, and carry heavy boxes, furniture. It was a flurry of work and sweat and labor. I am so grateful to each one and will never be able to repay any of them for their help. It is greatly appreciated, for sure. I know that I was sore and stiff, and I'm sure they were as well.
AND, on top of all this moving, packing/unpacking, and hauling things - we got a delightful surprise yesterday when my son brought over his Doodad and my granddaughter so that I could see them. That was a big highlight of the day! We got to visit for a little while before they headed out. Then I was so relaxed I just fixed dinner and chilled for the rest of the evening! I think we were in bed by 8:30PM, which has become pretty much the norm the past few weeks.
I took Monday off work to work on the move, and unexpectedly had to take Tuesday off as well. Today I had scheduled off and although I didn't get much unpacked, we did get to the title company to get all our paperwork signed and now we are waiting on the buyers of our property to show up there tomorrow and sign their paperwork. Then we will be 'done' with it. Lots of good memories in that house, and some bad ones, but the good always out-weighs the bad. I love my special memories of baking cookies with the grandchildren. I can't wait to do it this year.
I have a kitchen - with cabinets!! Until you have gone 25 years without cabinets you can't understand my excitement. It isn't a huge kitchen, but it is big enough. I'm having to give away pots and pans cause I have way too many. I know I do. And I don't need all these. I had hoped to have a yard sale, but dont think that is going to happen. So - Savers and St. Vincent de Paul will be very happy. What I may do is get a huge stack and call Salvation Army or St Vincent de Paul and ask who wants to bring their truck over and pick it up. I would love to give to someone who isn't out to make money on it - like Goodwill. At least Savers, where we have already sent quite a bit, goes to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The son-in-law and grandson came over today to get our internet hooked up. Hubby called Cox Communications to see what time they would hook up today as they had said today - but not given him a time. Can you believe this - they told him it was active, and he would have to hook it up as they won't send a technician out for a month due to COVID. So the SIL and grandson figured it out and here I am, on my computer. YAY! I have to work tomorrow so I'm glad they were able to get it up - and not only that - the TVs are working too! Not that I care about that, but hubby does. Three days and I think he was going into withdrawal.
God has been so good to us in bringing us to this place. Maybe hubby will be happy now as several of his friends live in this community somewhere. In fact, one called tonight and they are going to breakfast tomorrow morning. And yes, after seeing the bank account where hubby went to a place called 'Biscuits' two days ago for his breakfast - alone - and sent over $28 for his breakfast - I commented that I certainly hoped he wouldn't be spending another $28 for breakfast this week. FOR ONE PERSON!! I couldn't believe it. I would get a cup of coffee and toast if it was that expensive! But apparently, he just ordered a large breakfast, including a large juice - which nowadays is $3 at least for that! Geez!
We have eaten out so much over this past week I'm bored with it. I don't mind running out to grab something and bring it back to eat - but he insists on eating there - which in most cases has to be someplace where we give a tip - and of course most of the time................never mind.. I'm tired.
Which is a good reason for me to shut up and get off here. And just said Thank you, Lord, for blessing us with this new home and a new journey in life. If it hubby happiness to where he isn't so lonely when I'm working and he watching TV or reading on his computer, then it's a good thing.
My daughter and son-in-law have high hopes that within a year I will be able to retire and perhaps find a less stressful job closer to home. They want me to relax and enjoy life. Who knows how long we do have? I don't. Every day is a blessing, even when it doesn't feel like it to us.
For me, I am truly blessed. It doesn't mean life is perfect. It just means that I recognize all the things that I go through or receive, are blessings from God. In Him I do trust.
