A day off work....

My body has hurts....
After church, after lunch, I decided I needed to get on my treadmill and get my 3.1 miles in for the Fit & Run that I had signed up for with the company. It benefits MD Anderson Cancer Center. I didn't want to drive downtown so did it at home. All I had to do was take a photo on my watch, showing that I had completed the walk/run. Now I need to figure out how I submit it to prove I did do it. I should get the t-shirt soon. :-) I did walk the 3.1 miles on the treadmill. Now I don't 'sweat'; I 'glisten', as a rule. But it was so warm in that back part of the house, with the fan on, that my t-shirt was soaked. Good, maybe I got some toxins out of my body, right? This would be a good time to move the little fan I have to the back room so that I can walk the treadmill without sweating up a storm. I didn't mind the 'walk' at all; I put the computer in front of me, found a movie on Amazon Prime, and watched it as I walked. Made the time go by a lot quicker!
And, because I did walk the 3.1 (+) miles, my legs are telling me they walked much further than they have in a long time. Should be interesting tonight as I am scheduled to do leg work. I wonder if I can move about enough today to loosen them up. Or maybe I should ask to switch to core tonight and save my legs to Wednesday. Will see how the day goes. I do need to start getting on the treadmill or the rebounder daily and keep the body moving. I sit all day, and most of the time, all evening as well. Need to keep moving to keep limber.
I kept telling myself I SHOULD go visit Ms. Diane; I SHOULD go visit Ms. Vicky - but I did neither. A granddaughter was to come by to pick up something and I stayed at home, waiting on her. After a while, I figured she forgot, but I did not call her. Eventually, she did text that she forgot, so we will try to connect sometime today. Hubby finished watching the football game (which was lost in the last two minutes) and then watched a movie.
Today I'm back to work and will need to take off this afternoon to go with hubby to his doctor's appointment. This is the oncologist - we will actually be meeting with his assistant, who is much nicer and listens to you. I haven't met her before, but hubby has. So we will push through with the rest for the PET scan. She will have to ask the doctor of course. And I need to remember to make a copy of the blood work that Dr. Mark wants him to see that shows the liver and kidneys are affected. If he refuses to order the PET scan, I'm not sure what the next step is. I think Dr. Mark said we'd go to the kidney doctor and ask for a CT with contrast - and how we can work around the contrast part because it will affect the kidneys, which are already inflamed. My fear? The cancer from the prostate has spread to the liver and kidneys. He's not 'feeling it' now, other than occasionally not feeling good, but not able to identify why. That is why we need the PET scan - to find out what is going on. There is inflammation; but where is it coming from...
Wow - I just had a big fear! LOL I don't know what I was thinking... but I hit the plus button on the tab at the top - and nearly lost this post. Not that it is a big deal, but I don't know if I could think that much again this morning. ;) But - I did find it and it had saved as a draft, although I had not saved it (yet). Lucky you, huh? You have something to read.
Psalm 51:12 (NKJV): Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
Want to know why so many people are so unhappy? They have sinned against God and refuse to confess it. The above scripture, the entire psalm 51, is David's lament to God when he confessed his sin of adultery with Bathsheba and murder of her husband to cover his sin. When David confessed his sin with deep remorse, he asked God to restore to him the joy of His salvation. There have been times when I have felt so burdened about something I shouldn't have done (or said) that I felt my joy had been sucked out of me. I've mentioned it a few times I think over the years, how I feel the joy of life has been sucked out of me at times. Usually it isn't for something I did, but my attitude towards what is going on. Anyway - you want to have joy in your heart, in your life?
Choose Jesus. Confess your heart to Him, and ask Him to restore to you the joy of His salvation. He will, you know. You will find your heart feels so much lighter and there is peace within you. "Try it, you'll like it!"
When times are tough, I have learned to sing the song 'The Joy of the Lord is my Strength'. Do you remember that song? If you grew up in a church like mine, you probably do. You know, 'the Joy of the Lord is my strength! The joy of the Lord, is my strength!, The joy of the Lord is my strength! The joy of the Lord is my strength!' That is a very hard song to learn - haha. I can remember when I had a very difficult director who would literally scream at me and slam her hand on her desk at me - and I would just stand there and smile at her - which drove her crazy. Then I would take a short walk, singing all the way 'The joy of the Lord is my strength'. It works, try it. It does make life better.
And, yes, this is short today - but I am drawing a blank as to what to write today. My youngest went to Maine yesterday; I think he said last night he was heading to Boston and New York City today.
Hope you have a good day. Do something good for yourself today. Be kind to yourself. Talk well of yourself. Find joy.
Blessings!

Running behind.... again...By
What is it this week that I just can't get this done in a timely manner? Maybe I DO need to start skipping it once in awhile.....
I must tell you something that I found very amusing yesterday. I was hungry at noon yesterday so I told hubby 'let's go to Arby's' for lunch. It's food, of course he will go. So we get there and we are inside placing our order. Hubby gives his first, and then I selected one, with a small drink. No fries, cause I will just eat hubby's. The 'clerk' was probably in his late 20's I'm guessing.... he looked at me after we gave him the order and asked, "do you want the senior discount?" Hubby immediately responds "We both do!" The young man (I'm laughing by this time) says to me, "I know he is a senior, but I'm not sure that you are old enough." (are you rolling your eyes here?) Of course I'm right into the moment! He continues, I can't give you the senior discount if you are only 54. I'm loving the attention, for sure - and when he said he needed to see 'proof' of my age, I quickly pulled out my driver's license - and he studied it, then handed it back. I told him 'thank you for making my day'! I thought it was hilarious!
I knew my daughter would get a kick out of it so I told her about it. She came back with 'You go, girl!"
I sent the same message to my sister and her response? "See what a new haircut will do for you!!?!
I think I like my daughter's comment better! LOL I knew the guy was pulling my leg, and I was enjoying the moment. As older women, we grab on to any compliment we can.
It's Friday and hubby has two doctor things today. One to go get his shot - and I don't need to go with him there. The second is to his vascular surgeon. He told me I didn't need to go with him, but I need to ask why he is having this appointment. If it is just to check on his past surgeries (six month check up), then no, I don't think I need to go. His medical issues aren't with the vascular part of his body, but the internal parts of liver and kidneys. Will figure it out when he returns home after his shot. I don't want to take off work more than I need to.
I'm still debating on taking the 29th off as he does have Dr. Mark - and I 'lose' about 3 hours of work when we go there. It's on a Wednesday, which is sometimes busy. My trainer is leaving on the 30th for a trip and asked if I could come during my lunch hour on the 29th - I told her no, but if I take the day off, could go earlier in the day. She will let me know what works for her and then I'll decide on taking the day off. Maybe I just need to go ahead and put in for it since I keep thinking about it. Still thinking about it.
Tonight hubby and I plan to go to a worship service at church. We have met some people by going to the Revelation group study on Wednesday nights, and are starting to feel like we actually 'know' people there at church now. Besides - all we would do if we didn't is sit and watch movies or read. Worshipping God is a lot of more fun and being with 'real' people (versus ones in a movie or book) is more interesting. I don't think we have anything specific planned for tomorrow (Saturday), so I will probably get started on baking. I may make that banana pudding on Sunday... or Saturday. I don't know - but need to do it soon as the bananas are ripe. And, you may remember, I bought way more than I thought I did! I thought I ordered 7 and I counted as I put in the refrigerator - I got 19. Yeah, I certainly got more than I thought I did. Hubby also told me he is out of his peach muffins.... I guess that means he wants me to make him more of them.
And - I need to get off here as it is after 7AM and I am jumping back and forth from my work computer to here. Need to get dressed and focused on getting things done for work. So with that - have a great day ..... until tomorrow...
Blessings!

Am I dangerous now?
Some time yesterday I heard the Fed Ex truck pull up in front of the house. I heard the gate open. The doorbell rang. Not really unusual for Fed Ex; they are pretty good at letting you know they have delivered a package. Hubby opened the door and I could hear talking. I get up to go see what was going on. I had a package being delivered. The elderly man (I say 'elderly' because he was white-haired and wrinkly) held a small package in his hands and then very carefully laid it on the cabinet by the door. When I got to the door, hubby says "there is a package for you". Ok... so what's the big deal? The Fed Ex driver says it is a 'dangerous' package, and asked me "have you ever received a 'dangerous package' before? "No", I responded. He showed me the paper where it was labeled as 'dangerous'. I looked to see where it was from; didn't ring a bell. I order things all the time, as you know, and many times I don't know where they come from. Don't recall ordering anything 'dangerous', though.
I had to sign for the package! The Fed Ex driver handed me the paper he had showing it was a 'dangerous' one. He was very concerned that I was receiving a 'dangerous' package and not knowing what it was. So after he left, I decided to open this 'dangerous' box to see what it was. Are you ready for this? Let me share a bit of backstory ....
I have worn Red Door by Este Lauder for years. I love the fragrance and how it smells on me. I get compliments when I wear it. It goes good with my 'skin odor'. BUT.... although it hasn't been discontinued - yet - other Este Lauder products like Beautiful and Beautiful Pleasures and others have started moving it way down the ladder of importance. That's the way it usually starts, and then they quit offering it. I will continue wearing Red Door as long as I can... and I may be just imagining all this... but I decided to find another fragrance I can move to, should it be discontinued.
The fragrance is from Thomson Carter and is called Illium Blume (not looking it up; think I spelled it right). Well, I had read an article/advertisement a couple weeks back and the fragrance was mentioned and that it was a light fragrance (which I like). I decided to buy myself a bottle. You can't get it on Amazon so I ordered it direct from Thomson Carter.
That was the 'dangerous' package I received yesterday. It was flown over from LONDON, where Thomson Carter is located, I guess. I am 'assuming' they had to label it 'dangerous' as it has a fragrance, and although securely held in place with rubber(?) foam, within a box, within a box, within a box, I guess it could explode. (The Fed Ex man warned me to keep it away from fire or very heated areas) I got it opened and decided to try it. Well, it is strong enough I think this is one that you spray it in the air and then move into the mist, versus spraying on the body. It does have a nice fragrance, having jasmine in it. I just thought it was hilarious, yet can understand why the 'dangerous' wording on the shipping papers... and that poor man was probably terrified handling it and couldn't wait to get rid of it! So the question remains...
When I wear this eau de perfum does it make me 'dangerous'?
I actually had something 'fun' to tell you about this morning.... but now time is getting away from me and what else can I share quickly?
Hubby has his kidney doctor appointment this afternoon and I will be going with him with the book I am taking to write everything down in. It isn't that far away, and hopefully we can get in on time and get out fairly quickly. I know Dr. Mark had to fax hubby's kidney records to this doctor BEFORE they would schedule the appointment (seriously!) so the kidney doctor should have the abdominal ultrasound, the blood tests, and whatever else is needed for some diagnosis of what is going on within hubby's body. His fear (or showing it) has subsided somewhat, but I imagine it will be in full force as we head to the office. I am believing that all is well. Hubby has been drinking - for him - an enormous amount of water. Still drinks his Dr Pepper when we go out to eat though. (Can you believe they are charging $4 now for sodas, teas, etc.?) Sometimes I will drink a Diet Coke, but more often than not, I order water with lemon. Sometimes need the Diet Coke to clear the flam in my throat. Some of you will understand that reason.
I had a moment of panic at 4PM last night. I was still on the work computer. About 3:45PM, my boss sent me an email with the question of 'what happened?'. Puzzled, I read what she sent. We had to do a 'declaration' of remote work, that this is where I work, (remote), etc. All I have to do is click on 'I accept' and that should take care of it. Yes, I noticed where it said it was switching from one system to another due to whatever. Didn't think it would affect me. I clicked 'I accept' about a week ago. Well, this email said my remote work was over at 10/1/2025 and I could click on such and such link to return equipment. WHAT?? I'm searching to find out if I clicked on the wrong link - when my computer goes black. I was taken off the system. WHAT??? I grabbed my phone and texted my boss that I had been 'kicked off' the system. That got her attention too! Then about 30 seconds later, my system came back up. I remembered what I had read about them changing systems so figure that is what happened. They had to take me down to get me out of the old program and then back up to get me in the new program. Whew. And I didn't feel alone... she had also received emails on her other direct reports so it wasn't just me. I guess it would depend if one was still on their computers. I only work until 4PM (or thereabouts) so it happened to me then. Her other direct reports work until 5PM. I wonder if they noticed theirs shut down and came back up. Hmmm.
I'm rushing about now because I still need to jump in the shower this morning. Guess that this is all you will get today. Tomorrow morning is Needles of Hope. But, unless I oversleep, I will have time to write. :-)
So with all this rambling - and funny stuff - I'm signing off for today. Hope that you have an amazing day. Oh - my youngest and his wife made it back home around midnight last night. They have been gone for almost two weeks, I think. Not that I ever see him... but I love him touching base with me every day and telling me where they are and where they are heading.
Gotta go -
Blessings!

A good report, for the most part.
Yes, my weight had gone up from last year. Sigh. But I told her I was building muscle and showed her my biceps to prove it. She laughed. Should I be offended? The physical went well, I think. She is friendly and faces me when we talk and asks questions and answers mine. She ordered my dex-a-scan - which is my bone density test to see how my bones are strengthening up. Working out helps that, as well as the Fosamax I take weekly. She did give me some hope. I hate taking pills. Yes, I used the word 'hate'. I strongly dislike taking pills. Shots too. I asked her if I would have to take the Fosamax for the rest of my life. I was curious, for my brother is on his third or 4th medication, my sister the 2nd for their bones. Anyway, the doctor said I can only be on the Fosamax for five years. They will do a bone density test after that to make sure my bones stay strong. If they are, I don't have to take anything. (that thought made me happy). If my bones look like they are starting to weaken, we will need to look at other things. sigh. I will keep working out. One of the worst things at my age is to fall and break a hip. Some never recover from that. I will go next week and get my blood work completed and get the dex-a-scan and mammogram scheduled - and then I'm done for this year. Oh, I did end up getting the P20 pneumonia shot. How could I forget? My shoulder is very sore this morning. P20 is for 'old' people to prevent pneumonia. sigh.
BUT - I did get a compliment yesterday!! I was checking out at the doctor's office and this young lady who was inputting the information into the computer kept glancing up at me. She asked to confirm my date of birth. I told her. She continued to work, glancing up at me on occasion. Finally, she says, "I'm sorry I kept looking up at you, but I thought for sure there had to be a mistype on your birthdate - there is no way you could be 75!" (Of course I smiled!!) Then she added, "My mother is 54 and she looks older than you!" Wow. Made.my.day.
I left the doctors office and picked up a combo box on my way home and then got back on the computer for a meeting. I was so busy yesterday afternoon, and I still didn't get everything completed. I COULD get online this weekend and get caught up - but naw, this is MY time. Right?
Besides, after all the shopping we did on Thursday at Sam's Club and also Fry's - and then getting the combo box - I need to empty out the pantry and get things in place and lined up. So much I want to get done and I know hubby is going to be in my way. I wonder if I can get him to (finally) take the saver bag to Savers for me. That stack from my closet is still sitting outside the closet door since last week. I haven't had time, and he hasn't offered. I will ask him to do it today. We also have a few things out in the garage. If he don't do it, then I will just have to take the time away from things I want to get done today and do it myself. That's the way it usually ends, but maybe he will surprise me.
I got another surprise yesterday afternoon. I don't know if I mentioned it or not that one of my granddaughters is expecting her second child in January. I'm so excited she is including me in some of the process. By that I mean she told me she was pregnant, and then she called me last night to tell me it will be a girl! I need to start making a blanket and a quilt for this baby.... I commented one time she can do those herself so didn't need me to do it - and she responded that they wouldn't be from the great-grandmother if she did them. Ok then. I was waiting on a theme and a sex. I have the sex now and can start on the blanket. I'll start the quilt when I hear of a theme. So exciting. We need to make a trip to visit.
And then - I got a phone call just before that from my daughter, who is visiting her son in NM and asked if I had seen the text she had sent. I told her no and reminded her I was working and not looking at my phone. So I looked at it. It took me a few seconds, but I pieced it together. This grandson and his wife are expecting in May! And on my big brother's birthday. I know that may or may not happen, but still, it warmed my heart as I thought of my big brother. So we will have two great-grandbabies next year and I am so excited! I have so much I want to do!! I mean in blankets and quilts. I have some blankets I want to make for Christmas gifts, and I have new babies to make for. God is so good to me and is blessing me/us with new babies.
My shoulders are really sore this morning and I would normally think it was from my workout on Thursday, although she worked the chest, not the shoulders, but I did get the P20 pneumonia shot so I am thinking at least that shoulder is a result of the shot. It is painful, but I will have to work through it.
I will probably need to cook breakfast this morning to put hubby in a good mood. Maybe then he will take the items to savers for me. Will see. I am so serious. If I don't fix him a meal, he only eats the things he doesn't have to prepare (other than a shake). Putting a breakfast burrito in the microwave is about as far as he will go for 'cooking' his own breakfast. I realized last night that I didn't get any eggs from Frys nor Sam's Club and I only have 2 dozen left. I will need to do a run to the store sometime as I want to make some breakfast bites - which are eggs, bacon, and other things thrown together and baked and then can be put in the refrigerator or frozen for future use; all one would have to do is heat it up. Found a weight watcher recipe so plan to make it and add things to it. But that takes 18 eggs so yeah, I will need to go get some more. Did you know that eggs are a good source of protein? One should eat a lot of protein for that keeps their bodies strong.
That's also why I will sometimes drink a Premier Protein drink as a snack - it contains 30 grams of protein. And Sam's Club also had the Premier Protein pancakes which has 15 grams of protein in them - so we can have eggs (protein) and pancakes (protein) and bacon (protein) for breakfast! By cooking breakfast, I can skip fixing anything for lunch. We usually have an early dinner anyway.
I know I can't get hubby to go to the grocery store alone. And I have a feeling it is better that I go personally than send him. I mentioned to him last night a conversation we had just a couple days ago. He did not remember the conversation we had at all. And even more interesting, he didn't seem perturbed he didn't remember. So - is he 'playing' me with not remembering some things and ... what? I never know with him. I sometimes feel that is his way of making up for not remembering things or not following through on things. He will sometimes come back that he knew it, but wanted to do something else instead. Or some other lame excuse and I honestly do not know how to take him sometimes. He scares me when he doesn't remember things we discussed. Is it real or my imagination?
And with that, I think I'll close this off. My mind is not really on track this morning as I ponder what the day ahead of me will be like. One thing I will say, that no matter what comes before me, comes against me, this I know....
The joy of the Lord is my strength. And He is yours as well.
Blessings!
