Ready for a new day...maybe.

It's 'Finally Friday' and the last of the work week - at least for the office. This has been a crazy and interesting week all around.  Best part?  My oldest son may come visit this morning.  Best.thing.all.week.

Yesterday for work, we had a town hall in which our current President of our division and the new COO made a joint appearance and Chuck, our President, shared more of his upcoming retirement after 40 years with our company.  Yeah, he is of the age when one stayed with a company until they retired.  He worked his way up the ranks and has been the President for several years.  Paula, our new COO seems very friendly and on the ball with things and she will be taking over as the President - or at least his duties seem to be moving over to her after he's gone. And some now.  I haven't met her in person yet, but have seen her on Teams calls.  I hope I like her as much as I do Chuck, for I will miss him.  Although I didn't support him a lot (when his EA was out), I still had contact with him and he always had time for me.

Had a bit of a crazy moment last night.  We met up with some close friends for dinner.  After dinner hubby went to the bathroom.  We all walked on outside and I see there is blood running down hubby's leg.  I asked if his knee had split open again.  He grabbed his hankerchief (yes, he still uses those, and needs more - Christmas?) and started wiping it up - and smearing it all over his leg as he can't bend over very far without falling.  I raised his shorts leg and saw more blood smeared over his leg.  Totally confused as to what it could be.  Got him in the car and we headed home and I made him strip down.  Yes, I took control - and ironically - he let me.  I finally found the culprit.  Ya know, you don't need the be told all the particulars so I just erased it.  Long story short, he scratched hard enough over a blood vessel it had ripped open and was dripping blood.  We got it stopped, I made him take a shower in my shower as I don't have the bathtub for him to step over, and things settled down.  No bandaid needed. He's fine.

We had a good discussion last night about the walker (which we will be going to pick up today) and about his driving.  I told him that I could drive him to his bible studies and pick him up.  We will figure it out.  When he has his shot or visits Chuck, someone from the bible study can drop him off and then I can pick him up from there when he is done.  We can work it out and I expressed to him my fears about his driving. Again.  He actually listened.  I think with Dr. Mark's insistence on the walker, it has made a difference.

Speaking of the walker, I was very surprised when my friend whispered to me last night that hubby had told her about his fall and the doctor telling him to get a walker.  I think he is telling people so that it will be 'accepted' when he does it. I'm thinking he may share with the men today. He had told me none of the men would say anything about the walker - but one, and he's a little 'off' at times.  But I told him to 'get over it' because his health and ability to walk is more important than what the guy can say or of anyone else's opinion.  Sometimes I think he actually listens to me.

I've noticed that he seems more alert and active in the mornings than in the afternoons/evenings.  Could be that a good night's sleep helps his mind be more alert.... he seemed to be moving around fine this morning. But I did notice last night how difficult it was for him to walk.  Another discussion to have with him.  I do the majority of the driving now anyway - it's the taking time off work that could be a problem eventually.  With Sue, it didn't matter.  But, I will soon get a new boss and they may not be as agreeable after a while. But, as long as I get my work done, it shouldn't matter, right?

I haven't used my oven yet (and it's been almost two weeks?) so hope to get some baking done this weekend and things put in the freezer.  Want to make some cookies for my brother and send next week for his birthday (July 24).  When I shared with him about the hs-crp score the other night, did I tell you what he said?  I really felt it in the heart.  He said, "I can't go on without you."  Sweet, huh.

He shared last night that he has finished his 3rd college class on AI (and he's almost 81 years old!!)  Why is he taking college classes?  Because he doesn't want to stop learning and let his mind fade out.  And that makes sense.  He fixes things, he does things, and yet, he still wants to keep his mind active and alert. He keeps encouraging me - and my excuse is always 'time'.  Come after work time, I have other things I need to get done.  Ok, so it's my hobbies.  I want to learn sign language and I have a couple books, I just need to 'do it'.  That would keep my mind active, right?

A song that Mercy Me has recently come out with has been going through my mind during the night and even yet this morning.  I love this song.  The words that I 'hear playing in my mind' - "no matter my lot, You are still my God" - and that is so true.  No matter what I'm going through, no matter what hits against me, God will always be my God.  Doesn't matter if I go through the fire, He will get me through to the other side. Hallelujah!  Their song is titled 'Make it well'.

And - since I didn't get up until after 5a, and I'm 'at work' I need to get off here and get busy.  So with that - Have an amazing day today!

Blessings!
