I really did enjoy my time alone yesterday morning. Yes, I was alone all morning as hubby didn't come home from visiting Chuck until about 11:30AM. And that was ok with me! So what did I accomplish yesterday?
Well, first of all, I semi-defrosted the freezer and rearranged it. By semi-defrosted, I mean I got the shelves de-iced, but didn't wait for the top to defrost all the way - I wanted to get things back in the freezer. One thing I did discover was that I had a lot more 'stuff' than I thought I did in the freezer. In fact, I found a lot of pork - which is interesting since I don't buy it often. Very little hamburger. I did take the tomahawk steak out of the freezer to let it thaw - will cook either today or tomorrow. Perhaps today. I will have to do it in an electric skillet since my oven and stove are out of use. After I sear it, I can put it on low and just let it cook. I think it is 3-4 inches thick so will take awhile. Or, I should just figure out my grill, right? Anyway, I discovered I do not need to grocery shop for meat or frozen vegetables for at least a month - yeah, I think I will work on getting the food in the freezer used up. I may be cooking and giving away - or inviting people over. Will see.
After working on the freezer for awhile I managed to work on a diamond art project for a couple hours. Hubby came home during that time and that's ok. I had also thrown the chicken thighs in the air fryer and they were done. I had already eaten a couple before hubby got home so he ate some after he got home as well. That was lunch. The rest went in the refrigerator and may be thrown in a soup later today. Or snacked upon. The afternoon was quiet, even with hubby home. He did some reading. I did some crochet and then noticed the time. TV dinners for dinner - found I had about 6 in the freezer so want to use them up. Then, after watching a couple movies, it was about 9:30PM so we went to bed. Slept until about 5:30AM this morning (because I just refused to get up and went back to sleep).
I am 'home alone' again this morning for a couple hours. Hubby went to the men's breakfast at church. I've actually moved from 'my room' to the front room to type this. Unfortunately, where I'm sitting is where the air blows - and it dries my eyes out. Not sure how long I will sit here. Anyway - enjoying, once again, the quiet of the morning. I may get up and work on my diamond art project for a bit today. If I will work on it an hour or so a day, I should get this one finished in 3-4 days. I have another one I've started of my 'Santa and Mrs. Claus' I want to do to hang on my wall at Christmas time. I was so excited to give one to my son and his wife (aka Santa and Mrs. Claus) last year at Christmas time. They can pass it on down their family - it is a precious photo of them.
There is a women's luncheon today at one of the member's houses - and I don't plan to go. If it was at church, I would go, but I'm just not feeling going to someone's house when I don't know anyone who may be going. And yet, I keep praying that I can get involved some way at the church. I know I need to get out of my comfort zone and gather with some of the women - but if you know me, you know I don't usually get involved in 'women's groups' - so maybe that's my problem? I prefer one on one or just a small group - and usually over a study. I hear they sometimes work on crafts. I have enough projects, right? My plan is to figure out what to 'make' for Christmas gifts this year - for most anyway. I have no idea for some, but surely I can think of something between now and then. I like to get meaningful gifts; I don't 'buy' just to buy a gift. I like it to have meaning.
I'm glad I took yesterday off work. I felt much more relaxed last night and having today and tomorrow before hitting the work computer again, is a good thing. I do need to try to get a workout in this morning since I didn't get to do HIIT on Friday. I wonder if we will do HIIT on Tuesday, or if we will just stay on schedule with upper body. Yeah, I have Tuesday and Thursday nights next week.
Oh - Two Boyz (or boys) taco restaurant (I think that is what is called) is now open (per hubby as he saw the sign is up and cars there) where Coco's used to be. I'm sure it will be packed for awhile, but we will find out when it's open and will have to do a trip there. I heard there is one in Tempe, and this is their second one - but I am not sure about that report.
Psalm 51:10-13 (NIV): Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence, or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me.
Have you ever prayed that prayer of David's? The entire psalm (Psalm 51) is a great psalm of repentance. There are mornings when I will just sit and read and reflect on that. Today, this is the part that comes to my mind. Perhaps it is because I am feeling so lost. I'm missing something in my life and I can't quite put my finger on it. Of course it could just be my imagination as well, correct? I probably just need to clean out the closets and let go of 'things' that I have in there that I don't wear, can't wear, don't even like - and whatever else I have 'stored' in there. I need to let go of some of these 'knick knacks' that I have held on to for years because someone I love gave them to me. You do that too, right? You were given something by a child, or a grandchild, and you just can't let it go because of the memory of them. I have a lot of those. My 'memory box' overfloweth, LOL. I think someone said one time to take a photo of that item, then give the item away. You can always look at the photo and remember. Yeah, easier said than done. Not in taking the photo, but in the giving away of the item. I'm just not there yet. Unless someone sees it and wants it, then I can let it go.
And now I'm back in my rambling stage so will hush and get off here. Maybe I can get something done while hubby is gone this morning. I have no idea how the rest of the day will go, other than feeding hubby when he gets hungry. Everyone knows how he loves to eat (and I do too, not singling him out). He is counting calories now (and I should) and is trying hard to lose weight. I probably should help in that and not give him high calorie foods, rights? I did give him a choice on the tv dinners last night - 300 for Santa Fe beans and rice or 180 for Chicken Marsala. He chose the beans and rice. :-) That's on him. LOL Sometimes we just gotta give in, right? Like me with my chocolate. I did finish one bag the other day - working on another. One at a time. :-)
Have a good day!
Blessings!
