at what I have written this week. This week has been a tough week in a lot of ways. I'm mentally and physically exhausted and so overwhelmed with trying to get things done and still live life as well. I have decided I am not going to Needles of Hope this morning, no matter how much I enjoy being with my friends there. Yes, I am that fried. I slept good until about 3-ish - remembered today was Saturday and I could sleep longer - and tossed and turned until about 5-ish before getting up. Scanned my emails to see that I had 'earned' another $30 voucher for Kohls. Debating on just ignoring it or order something. I'm so tired of shopping.
I told hubby about the shops up on Happy Valley Road about 91st Avenue - and gave him a map so that he could find it. And he did find and it said that if he ever has to go shopping, that is where he is heading. They have the shops side by side - like a mall, only outside. Kohls, Bath and Body, Ross, Five Below, Michaels.... I can't think of all the shops they have there - and lots of restaurants too. It's a newer part of town so the shops are new and clean. It's nice that you can walk to whatever store you want without having to drive to another part of town. He said he got nearly all my Christmas shopping done and was quite pleased with himself. He usually waits until Christmas Eve to go shopping - and he is thrilled that he decided to go yesterday and is now 90% done with what he wanted to get.
And I'm done shopping. Seriously. Until at least the week before Christmas. I had several boxes and bags that were delivered yesterday...... after I have lamented in here about overdoing it. There are three that I haven't even opened yet. With not going to Needles of Hope this morning, I'm thinking that I can start sorting out what I need to put back for another time or who did I buy what for. At least it is all paid for; grateful for that, but still, I spent way too much money and I'm frustrated with myself over ordering on whims and not being realistic.
Can I blame my irrational status on the bug bites I got in October (they are still on my leg and if I scratch, it still hurts) and my surgery on Tuesday? I'm thinking I will make an appointment with my PCP in January - I still need to get blood work done cause she only gave me 90 days of increased levothyroxine (which I've read recently causes bone density loss - go figure). I've got about two weeks left of this dosage so need to check in. I know I don't have an appointment any time soon. I will have her look at my bug bites. I go back to the dermatologist on the 17th to have stitches removed. My Band-Aids will not stay on, so I've just left it open, keeping castor oil on the stitches to keep it soft and not dry out. Something is causing me to do these crazy things and feel exhausted. Can I blame it on the bug bites? and the surgery? I feel like I am such a mess.
I did enjoy my day yesterday with my favorite boss, Sue. We did the Christmas Idea House and ate a delicious brunch before we headed inside the house to do some shopping. I didn't do bad; and I did buy some things. I know I bought a bag of cinnamon rolls to be baked, but right now I'm not sure whether to give to someone or bake them myself and give to my neighbors. Hubby and I split one this morning as I bought one single - and it was nearly too much, even at 1/2. But it was good. I'm trying to think what else I bought. Hubby insisted I take everything out of the bags when I got home so that he could see. Sigh. I bought some handle covers for the refrigerator and decorate it, a couple stockings, a s'more kit.... not sure what I'm going to do that with one. Bought.... a couple stocking stuffers for the girls. Really at a loss as to what I did buy. But it wasn't much this year; spent the least amount in the last six years of going! The mess in this room is starting to get to me - really need to work on it today some!
I'm on my second cup of coffee this morning. That's how my day is going thus far. Need to do some baking today and tomorrow and get in the mail by Monday. I send my brothers each a loaf of my bread and whatever else I can think of. The oldest always is appreciative.... the youngest doesn't say much. It's the thought, right? I just let them know they are thought of and loved. Still need to contact my niece and nephew to see what they could use this year. Or do I just bake a bunch of stuff and send? Uncertain what to do. I want to do something, but I also know they don't have much - and I also know they intentionally cut themselves off from most of the family. It's a tough call.
Heard from my daughter yesterday on when they will be coming over for Christmas - they are taking December 21st. The youngest is taking December 30th. I have really gotten used to the thought of spreading Christmas out and letting them enjoy their Christmas as well. I feel it does take a lot of pressure off of everyone. So glad God put that thought in my head. My children need to make their own Christmas memories with their own families and enjoy making them.
Luke 6:12 (NKJV): Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
I think that is where my mother came up with the This too shall pass words of advice. And I frequently find myself saying it as well. Whenever things would be tough, mother would always go, "well, this too shall pass." And you know what? It always did pass by. No matter what it was. Mother often said it was in the Bible and one year I went in search of that - but this is all I found..... (now) it came to pass..... And if you called mother upset with someone, her words were always "well, pray for them, they need prayer." LOL And we all needed prayer! And still do!
Ok - just erased some comments that I don't need to put out there so think I'm going to close this off and read for a bit yet here in my quiet time. I need to send a quick text to my friend to let them know I'm not going to Needles of Hope this morning (and hubby has already asked me if I had for sure decided I wasn't.) Sigh. He has to know every aspect of my life and it drives me crazy. I just want to be. Does that make sense.
Have lots to do today and need to review the message I'm doing up north tomorrow, plus finish up the one I will have next week here in town. I need to get 4-5 messages pulled together here fairly quick for I have one right after the other for a few weeks. I love talking about Jesus; it's the pulling the messages together that is difficult. And with that - I'm off here.
Hope you have a productive day!
Blessings!
