but it was sad to hear that Toby Keith has passed away from stomach cancer. I can't imagine the pain he had to feel as he went through all that. Prayers for his family, for sure. I didn't listen specifically to his songs, but what comes to mind is the movie Broken Bridges that he was in. Such a good movie and one of our favorites.
Yesterday I was praying for retirement. My one boss just about had me 'crossing the line'. What happened? Those legal contracts he is pushing off on me. I don't see the contracts. I don't know where they are located; I don't have access. But I get an email from Legal that I need to submit the contract and she gave me the link. I found the one that my boss had tried to show me (and didn't have all the information for) and started inputting it. I did what I could, then copied the questions that I didn't have the answers for and sent to him and asked him to give me the rest of the answers. And this is where I threw up my hands in frustration. He came back to me with ... "I went ahead and completed it and submitted it." Did he bother to tell me he was going to take care of it? Did he even send me the additional information? Sigh. Then, about 3:45PM he sent me another contract and asked me to submit it - without any additional information, of course. I decided to ignore it last night; I had 15 minutes to go and I was heading to the gym. So - I do have it to face first thing this morning, but I am so over these contract submissions. He last told me he had seven that needed inputted. He hasn't sent me any of them. He's slowly killing me. Or driving me crazy. Whichever comes first.
I also received an email from my friend and co-worker who is going to have back surgery on May 1 and will be out for six weeks. Her boss agreed that I could cover the administrative part plus submission of any expenses. And also agreed they can ask someone else to do payroll (thank goodness) and another to do something else. I'm beginning to think I need to find something to take 6-8 weeks off work and recoup my mind. Know of anything for that? A sabbatical, perhaps? I don't think that would fly. Some companies do give a couple months off after a few years. ....and I had a lot of rambling after this so just deleted it....
Proverbs 21:21 (NKJV): "He who follows righteousness and mercy find life, righteousness, and honor."
So how is life going for you? Are your choices the ones you should be making? Are you fighting within your mind that what you WANT, may not be what you SHOULD be doing? I think we all go through that. Some days I get such a longing in my heart to do good, and yet, my 'self' gets in the way and says 'naw, you want YOUR way, you want this or you want that..." and none of it is for my benefit. I need to keep my eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfector of my faith, and through Him, He will supply all that I need. I may not get all I want, but I always have all that I need. What about you? Is there anything you have need of that you don't have? I said need, not want.
I 'want' a lot of things, but nothing material. I want my children to give their lives to Jesus and live for Him. I want my own life to be consecrated to Him. I can't do it for my kids, and in my own power, I cannot even do it for me. I have to lean in to Jesus and ask Him to take over. And I fail. As you know from my many posts. I don't always get it right. I drop the ball. I fail. But I also pick myself up, ask forgiveness, and again seek His help and His wisdom and His strength to get me through each and every day. Especially when dealing with my one boss! See how I just did that? It's not about me, it's about him, right? No, it is about me, and my following Christ. How would He respond in this situation? I'm sure it isn't with the frustration that I felt yesterday! I always keep coming back to this scripture in my mind....
Philippians 2:14 (NIV): "Do everything without grumbling or arguing."
Sigh. I tend to grumble and argue about a lot of things, right? Lord, Help me stop doing this, but in all things, honor and glorify Your name.
Thinking about discussing with hubby about us having a 'family altar'. Reading a book about the Family Altar, and how we all need to come back to that. Pray together - not only at meals, but also during the day; perhaps before going to bed - about things going on, about our children and their children.
Matthew 18:20 (NIV): "For where two or three gather in My name, there am I with them."
Jesus is always the third strand in the cord that holds it all together. Something to think about.
Blessings!
