Hubby shared with me when he came home from the gym yesterday that our trainer got on his case about his body composure. I think that is the right word. Maybe it's mixture. Anyway, he did the 'inbody' test yesterday morning which measures how much of your body weight is water weight, how much is fat, how much is muscle; it measures your arms and legs and torso... and gives you the breakdown. His fat was up, his muscle was down, his water was down. Our trainer got on him about his eating habits. You can work out, but if you don't eat right, you aren't going to gain what you want to gain. Personally, I'm always curious what mine is... but each one I've done, I've not liked the results (how can my body be 50% or more FAT????) so I don't push on getting it done unless I am 'forced' to. I had my last one done the first of January.... ugh. It wasn't pretty, especially after the holidays. I refuse to monitor all that hubby eats; he is a big boy and knows what he should eat.... I'm not his mother. I do good to watch what I eat! And I admit, it isn't always good.
Yes, I don't always fix the best of meals.... but for the most part, they are healthy. For example, last night my original plan was rotisserie chicken tacos - but when I stopped at Bashes, they had already shut down that department (at 6PM!) and all the chicken had been put in the refrigerator. So, I bought a couple hamburger patties (93%) and ended up breaking them up and cooking, adding some taco powder. I did have picante sauce so opened it up and cut up onions, green peppers, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese - and I had whole wheat tortillas - heated those up - and yummy!! I'm hungry just sitting here thinking about how good all the flavors put together were! There is enough to make a lunch size taco salad, which I'm hoping will be mine since hubby is going out for breakfast with a friend this morning. And then we are meeting friends from the RV park for dinner. We have such a social life. LOL The plan is to come back here and play Mexican Train or something for a couple hours. We love this couple and have been meeting them for a meal for the past 3 years or so, I think. Come April they fly back to Minnesota, I think it is. I get my snowbirds mixed up. There are two other couples that also want to meet up with us before they head back from where they are from. Need to figure out some time with them too.
It took me about 3 hours to get all the information for the contract yesterday - but I did get it inputted AND it was approved later in the day! Slowly learning the process. The board meeting went ok - my boss did the slides so I kept my mouth shut and didn't offer, although he did say I could do the slides at our next board meeting in May. I now have the minutes to type up and send out. Other than that, not sure what is on for me to complete today. It may be a fairly quiet day.
We have our tax date set for the middle of March, so we need to start pulling our taxes together. I've already gone through the credit card I've used for our medical bills, so that part is done. But I do have to go through the checking account and see what else I've paid that is tax deductible. I have printed out all my bank statements so it will make it easier to pull out. I list everything, compute the mileage for the doctor visits, picking up prescriptions, any volunteer work, any donations .... and give all the totals to hubby to put with what he has come up with. And every year we tell ourselves we are going to keep better track by getting the totals monthly, but I don't anyway. I gave him a notebook last year to track things in and he mentioned a couple months ago that he had been using it to track things - but I'm not sure what he put in there. I write everything in my calendar, so I just flip through the pages to see where I've gone and figure it all out. And then we pray that we at least break even. Sometimes we do, sometimes we get a little back. We never know until we get to the CPA's office. Takes him 5 minutes to run the totals through and tell us what we have to pay and what we will get back.
I John 4:10 (NIV): "This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."
Most people, I think, know that Jesus died for them. And they generally accept that. But herein is where the problem is.... they know Jesus went to the cross for them, they believe that. BUT they are not willing to give up their so-called 'freedom' to accept Him as Lord of their lives and follow Him. It isn't always easy, trust me! I spent some time with God before I got on here, confessing some things that I did that I knew I shouldn't have done. It's the little things that we sometimes do and don't even realize we shouldn't have..... until it comes back to your mind hours later and you shrug it off as 'well, it's done'.... but sometimes it comes to mind because we need to either make amends for saying or doing something, or we need to confess it before God.
We need to go back to the cross and remember what Jesus did for us there. He covered us with His redeeming blood. He took all the wrong things we have done or said - and placed them on His shoulders so that they were buried and atoned for. With Adam and Eve, when they sinned and disobeyed God to not eat of the fruit of the tree of life, God killed a lamb and used its skin as a covering for them. From then on, a lamb had to be sacrificed as atonement for sins. Years and years passed of a lamb being sacrificed for each person's sins.
But then Jesus came. He was our sacrificial lamb. He took all our sins, our shame, and took them to the cross on which He was nailed. His blood was shed for you and for me. His blood covered all of our sins - those in the past, and those we will do in the future. But that doesn't mean we are 'off the hook'. We need to go to Him and confess our sins and allow His blood to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Have you ever experienced the cleanness you feel when you confess your sins before Him? Seriously. It's like someone has taken the heavy load off your shoulders, off your heart. You feel renewed, energized, and hopeful for whatever the future may bring.
I John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Why not take a moment and think back over your life; perhaps even just yesterday and confess to Jesus whatever comes to mind. And if nothing comes to mind that you feel you need to confess, thank Him for being with you and keeping you from sinning against Him. Give Him time to speak to you, whether verbally (yes, He still does that) or in your heart (and He does that too). That guilty conscience or twinge? It's the Holy Spirit nudging you. Don't delay.
Today can be the first day of your life. Make it a good one.
Blessings!
