Oh.My.Goodness!!

It is 5:28AM and I hear my neighbor's daughter outside on the telephone!  Yes, she talks loudly.  Being from Florida her time sync is 3 hours ahead of us, but still.....  Oh well. I think I mentioned earlier that she called to update me on her mother and told me I ought to go see her mother .... and I had thought about it. But I decided to call her mother instead, who is still in the hospital.  We talked just a few minutes and she didn't want to talk any more, as it is hard for her to breathe (and they can't figure out why).  She complains about everything - hospital food, hospital bed, nurses, etc.  LOL  I told her that if she wants to get out of there, she has to eat the hospital food, liking it or not, she needs to rest, and she needs to get up and walk when they tell her to.  Otherwise, she will be put in an assisted living facility.  I told her daughter, when I took her over some taco soup and banana pudding afterwards, what I had told her.  She said "if I tell her that she tells me I'm preaching at her and she doesn't want to hear it!'  LOL  I think her daughter would just as soon she go into an assisted living facility so that she doesn't have to come out and see about her.

I guess that is what happened to the woman who lived in our house.  Her husband died, and her children didn't want to take care of her.  The house was paid for, everything was in place for this woman to live the rest of her life in this house.  But her children didn't want to deal with it - and forced her into an assisted living facility, where they don't visit, and she lives.  Yeah, I heard all this yesterday from the neighbor across the street.  I guess the husband had told everyone she would never have to move because he made sure she was taken care of - and she was forced to sell and move.

When did it get to be that if you get old, no one wants to care for you?  Now, I never want to be a burden on my children.  Never.  If I can't take care of myself, yes, I will willingly go where I need to go.  But as long as I can care for myself, and I can support myself, I will live my own life.  To save money I may live with one of my children and help them out as I can, but nope, I am independent and no child of mine is going to tell me I have to do this or that!  It will be of my own free will.  And if I can find a part time job to keep my mind busy and my body moving, I'll do that too.  So there!

Psalm 34:5 "Those who look to Him for help will be radiant with joy."

Never miss an opportunity to see anything that is beautiful.

How many times daily do you look to Jesus for help in whatever it is you are doing?  None?  One? Two? Consistently?  If none, why not?  Do you feel you don't need help?  Don't you need clarity of mind to think through the activities you have before you?  Do you not need help in maintaining your sense of balance and steadiness of mind?  Why dont' you ask for help from the One who can help you?

Have you ever thought about the joy you are missing out on because you have not asked for help?  You bless others by receiving the blessing they have for you.  Reminds me of when I asked our group leader on Sunday if I could bring him and his family some taco soup on Sunday because they were not doing well physically, and he told me that he would not refuse my receiving a blessing by not taking it, for in doing so, he also will be blessed.  Even if you don't ask for help, if someone offers, do you refuse them being blessed by helping you?

I got triple blessed yesterday (not to brag!).  I took taco soup and banana pudding over to Ms. Diane and visited with her a little bit - and listened again to all she told me the other day when I stopped by.  I had to laugh when I put the pudding in the refrigerator and saw the key lime pie still there.  It had about a fourth taken from it.  I told her she needed to share it - she said she didn't want to!  Then I reminded her that the crust will get soggy soon if she doesn't, so she said she will offer it to her children when they stop by.  LOL  She's funny.

I took taco soup and banana pudding over to Ms. Amy's daughter.  She asked if I had visited her mother, and I told her no, I had called her and she was very tired and very weak.  She just doesn't know what to do cause the doctors can't find what is wrong, and she wants to go home to Florida.  But she went shopping yesterday at the mall.  I was blessed in that I was able to give some food.  Not so sure she felt blessed in receiving it. LOL

And the bestest blessing I got yesterday was that I got to see my daughter-in-law.  I'm so grateful she works a short distance from here.  I text'd her late afternoon if she would like some taco soup to take home for dinner; she'd just need to heat it.  She said yes.  I told her I'd even bring it up to her if she would let me know when she was getting close to leaving.  I made up a fresh batch of banana pudding (finally used up the can!) and took it as well and drove up to see her when she was ready.  It was so good to see her and I must say, she looks smashing in her uniform!  VERY smashing!  My son better treat her well; he doesn't want to lose her!  Anyway, it was good to give and get hugs and love from her.  And I was surely blessed by her.  I need to figure out a way to meet up with her at least once in a while.  I know she is tired when she's home; I get it - me too - but her work is physical, whereas mine is not. Need to figure out something.

This morning I am seeking help from the One who can help me - get through this day; get work done; think clearly; focus.... and everything else I need.  I am grateful I have an Advocate who stands before God for me and intercedes on my behalf.  And He does for you too, but you do need to ask Him to.  We can never do anything in our own power; we always need help.  Why don't you ask Jesus for help just to get through the day today?  See what He can do!

Be blessed - and bless others through what you can do for them.

Blessings!
