I hear birds chirping!

Here it is 11:30AM and I have the back door open to get fresh air in the house - and I can hear the birds chirping.  I can guarantee you they are NOT in our back yard!  I can put bird seed out - and Marley will chase the birds away.  I think I have already shared once that she can put her nose on the feeder now.  No wonder the birds don't want to come near!  We let Marley out the back door and she runs to the orange tree to bark because one time she caught a cat up in the tree.  From there she runs to the bird feeder to bark - then to the gate to bark - and then runs back to do her business.  She wants everyone to know that it is HER yard and they aren't to be in it!  Right now she is sitting on one of the chairs soaking up the sun.  She loves this weather - as we do too.  I think it is supposed to be 73 today.

I was in bed by 9PM last night - which caused me to wake up at 3AM.  I tossed until 3:30 then finally got up to do some reading.  It was nice to be able to read without one eye on the clock, thinking I need to get in the shower and get ready to head to work.  I enjoy these long mornings.

Hubby went to church this morning for an all day 'men's retreat'.  :-)  Yes, that is a smile on my face.  Although he "told me" he didn't want me out (since I have still been dealing with this sore throat and respiratory stuff), I am not being defiant and leaving.  After he left early this morning I have baked about 5 dozen cookies, make chocolate covered pretzels, cleaned some in the pantry and sorted some things.  I still have more I would like to get done - but I made the fatal mistake of sitting down to the computer for a little while.  But, hey, it's only 11:30AM.  I still have all afternoon!

I need to make up my grocery list for us to pick up things later today.  Or maybe tomorrow.  It will depend what he feels like when he gets home later.  He thinks we are out of everything - but I know we aren't.  We can get by another week or so with what we have.  I haven't bought a lot for I want to use up things we've had in the freezer and cabinets.  You know, stockpiling food that ends up getting thrown away with freezer burn.  Trying to get it cleaned out - and we've done' pretty good.  I think we only have food on one shelf now.  But I do need to make a list and see what we really need to get.

I'm really enjoying the quiet of the day - except for the birds chirping that is.  And the dryer running.  And cars driving by.  But other than that, it's quiet.  We just don't have enough of those days.  And I'm enjoying this one.

So much so, I think I will sign off here and go read for a bit.  Need to take some meds for my throat anyway as it is starting to get sore again.  Rest (and naps) are always good, right?

Hope that you are having a nice quiet day as well.  Slow down "life" and take time to enjoy the peace and quietness that is about you.  We always try to fill the 'space' up with noise - once in awhile the quietness is all we need.

Blessings!

Cookies are cookies, Mom!! But it is okay. I probably shouldn't be eating any right now with the way I am trying to change up my eating habits.
