Another work day, another week

The past two days for work have been fairly busy, but I was able to take time out to create a new dish just before lunch - and it is good!  I'm already thinking how to enhance it - mainly by adding cut up chicken to it.  It's penne pasta, tomatoes, kalamata olives, onions, and I can't remember what else.  So good. Guess what we are having for lunch today!  Any maybe dinner as well, to use it all up.  Started to say 'get rid of it', but it's too good to 'get rid of'.  haha I love trying new recipes and I spent time going through my casserole book and identifying several that I want to try. Problem is, unless we give it away, we eat it for two-three days. Well, I guess that always happens when I cook; I can't just cook for two people.

My toes/foot that I walked into the wall with a week ago are still bothering me.  The purple is gone, but it is pink and burns.  I finally called my podiatrist yesterday and have an appointment for Thursday for him to tell me everything is fine, it's healing.  That is what I am expecting, anyway.  I've stubbed my toes many times and usually after a few days, it's done and over with. Don't know about the 'muscle wave' on the bottom of my foot the other day nor why I am having burning pain on top of my foot.  Might as well get it checked out.  I could call Dr. Mark and go see him, but he would have to send out for x-rays if he felt it was needed; the podiatrist I've had in the past has x-rays in the office.  Will see how this turns out tomorrow.  If I'm asleep the burning isn't bad, but if I'm up, yeah, I guess the movement of using the foot wakes the burning sensation up.

Went over to my daughter's last night and helped her pack up the majority of her kitchen.  Right now I am ok in dealing with her moving away.  It's not like in days of old when you moved out of state you never saw them again.  I remember moving away from my family and it broke my heart.  I shed many tears.  At least she is going to her son and family, so I guess that makes it easier.  She told their granddaughter here in town the other day.... guilt trip definitely happened, I think.  Maybe it will give me a chance to get to love on and know this little one better.

We were to have our bible study group meet here tonight, but we bumped it out to the 28th as 4 people couldn't attend for various reasons. And that's ok. The church fast will still be on, but I don't know how many are doing it.  Of course hubby and I are still doing our own fast, which is to end on January 25th, but I may continue it through February 9, which is when the church fast ends.  I am praying along with the church, but continuing the fast hubby and I started on January 4th.  We are definitely eating more vegetables with giving up meats and bread.

I got a text last night from a pastor friend who is on the ministry council for the state for the Church of God in which I was ordained.  They are making contact with each of the pastors to see where they are attending, what they are doing, etc.  At least that is what I am 'assuming'.  I don't have much to share. But it will be fun to talk with her and I will text her once I get the work computer up and tell her when I can be available to chat.  Actually, most anytime, but I still need to check; I know I do have a couple meetings I need to attend.  I wonder what they will say when I mention we are going to an 'Assembly of God' church rather than Church of God.  Titles are titles, right?  It's what being preached inside is what counts.  And Pastor John does preach from the Bible and that is what we love.  As for involvement, we are in the Bible study group, but thus far, have not jumped in to greet or anything like that.  I don't feel we know enough about the church to do that, for they sometimes get asked questions.  We want to go to the next 'Coffee with Pastors' on the 21st, but I think we have something else going on.  After all, it is my daughter's birthday.  I'll see her on the 20th so that may be it.  I'll have to talk with hubby on if he is ready to go or wait another month.

Gasp! Just looked at the clock and time has gotten away from me - 4 minutes to go and I need to get on the work computer.  So, guess you are lucky and just get a little bit of my ramblings today. I need to re-evaluate my time and see what I'm doing that is messing me up.  Probably the writing.... I wasn't doing that before, but I've started writing my prayers in the journal again.  I can't help it; I have a lot to pray about and it just keeps going!

And with that - I'm off here.  Hope that you have an amazing day!

Blessings!

Running short on time

Yeah, I slept in until 5:30AM this morning (again) and just finished my reading, prayers, and skimming emails and my son's blog.... and here I am, with about 20 minutes to think of something to write about.  Oh - you thought I gave these a great deal of thought?  LOL  Sometimes I do. Sometimes I will write down things I want to share so that I will remember.  But, this morning, not much.  We really hadn't stayed up that much later than usual last night - possibly 9:30PM, but I slept sound and when I awoke at 4AM, I told myself 'naw, turn over and go back to sleep' - and I did.  It is what it is, right?

Hubby got up shortly after I did and brought my coffee and then took the recycle things out to the curb for pickup.  I made sure everything was ready last night so that all he has to do is carry it out.  They will be by within the hour, as a rule.  It was getting really cluttered in that corner of the garage as they only come twice a month - 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, and if we forget a Wednesday, it continues to pile up.  My Amazon boxes, of course. LOL Oh, and I had Sam's Club deliver some things last week.  Yeah, we had boxes.

Was able to knock off another training module yesterday and have only one left.  YAY, ME!  This one says it will take an hour.  I can hardly wait. But, I will be done and my name won't be on any delinquent list!

You won't believe this.  The other night, Monday, as we were leaving the gym and heading to hubby's car (he doesn't always drive, but he did Monday night), something caught my eye about his license plate.  I stood there staring at it, pondering.  Hubby got irritated at me for not getting in the car, and finally I commented, "you didn't renew your license plate."  Of course he was confused as to what I was referring to.  Then I pointed to the sticker that said 'March 24'.  OOPS.  And 'I didn't get the notice' is what came out of his mouth.  And that is probably true.  They don't mail them out much anymore, but send via the email on file.  And, of course it was probably his JUNO email address, that he hasn't used in two years and can not even get in to anymore, that it went to.  But think about it.  I pulled his registration out of the glove compartment (have you ever wondered why it is called that?  My guess is that people used to put their gloves in it for storage?), and the last time he sent in payment was 2023.  Yep.  That's what it had the expired March '24 sticker.  Which means he has been driving a year on expired plates.  Talk about being lucky!  I pulled it up on the computer and of course he needed an emission check.  He went to get it done first thing yesterday morning, and before he got home, I had already gone in and paid for the license plate.  $56 in penalties for not paying on time, but the fees and I think his plate was only $70 this time.  It thought briefly about doing two years, but I'm hoping he will give up the car within this next year, so decided on just one year.  All he could say was 'I didn't get the notice'.  I told him to make a note on his calendar that every March 1 to go online and register - it's due on March 15th but that way he'll get it done in time.  Glad I noticed it - but then, it took me over a year to catch it too!

This year is already spinning by, don't you think?  Easter is almost here already.  We'll be leaving after lunch at the daughter's to head to Tucson. I still need to sit down and plan out our trip as well as contacting the granddaughter to see when they will be available.  It's during the week and I definitely do not want to disrupt their schedules.  Even if we only see them once, that is fine.  Get me some cuddle time with the little ones, and my granddaughter.  I ended up taking the entire week off, instead of working that Wednesday.  Yes, that Wednesday is 'Administrative Professional Day', but I don't need another huge bouquet of flowers, especially when I won't be home.  Plus my male boss is going on PTO Wed-Fri that week and my favorite boss I have talked into taking that Thur-Fri off.  Whoever covers for me won't have much to do at all with the other two people I support.  And that's ok.  I'm just thinking of MY time off and I'm hoping to be able to relax more.  Get a lot of reading done. Spend a lot of time with God. And spending what time I can with my granddaughter and her little family.

And, I'm down to five minutes before work and the computer is on already.  Once I sign in and make sure all is well, I need to jump in the shower. I will not only feel better, but smell better too, I imagine.

Psalm 118:24 (NIV):  The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice and be glad.

Ah - what has the Lord done this very day?  Stop and look around you!  Be thankful.  Look at the trees and their beautiful green leaves.  Look at the flowers that are blooming.  Breathe in the air around you.  The Lord has done it all this very day.  He has done it for you.  I look out my window and I see two of my rose bushes that are full of buds or roses.  One has about six roses opened up on it, the other only two.  I miss my rose bushes from my other house, but if I nurture these, they will also grow.

And I need to get off here and get focused on work.  Don't think it will be too busy, unless the male boss decides to assign me numerous tasks, as he does at times.

Have an awesomely beautiful day!

Blessings!

It was another good day

It was a somewhat busy one though, as well.  I had a dentist appointment at 10AM and as I was getting ready to leave, I received a call from my oldest son, inviting hubby and I to lunch.  We made arrangements and I headed off to the dentist.  No cavities, which is good, but they found something that he thinks might be a bone that is loose right beside a tooth, right by the gum line - which means another visit to the dentist later this month - and if he can pull it out, will have to send me to a surgeon. Oh joy.  All I could see was $$ for the surgeon.  Grab the stupid tweezers and just pull it out - right? sigh.

From there I came home and picked up hubby, notified my son that we were heading that way - and off we went.  Had a great lunch with him and had just enough food.  It was a good visit and I'm glad he called and we were able to meet up.  After leaving the restaurant we headed back home and I had numerous meetings and scheduling to do - and worked at it until 4PM when I said 'enough'! and turned the computer off.  Then I headed up to the store for a quick stop, and on to visit my daughter in love who had a birthday yesterday.  Gave her a gift, visited for a few minutes, then back home.  I didn't cook (after all, hubby had eaten out for breakfast and lunch) - so we snacked.

Today is going to be another busy day for me - we have to leave by 7:15AM to get to church for the join 'heart crew' (which is what they call it) where it is a breakfast and both our pastors will be speaking.  Hopefully it will end early, although it is scheduled to go until 10AM.  Once I drop hubby off, I'm heading over to Wildflower to have lunch at 11AM with my boss, a CFO I worked with, and a couple doctor friends.  It's my turn to have breakfast and lunch!  Looking forward to visiting with my friends from a former company - although my boss and one of the doctors still work together.  'the three muskateers'.  LOL

Then I will need to focus on reviewing the message that I'm supposed to give tomorrow morning - so it will be a very busy day.  At least I've gone over it a few times this week, but I don't feel I have it quite down yet and will need to verbally practice it a few times today.

I will be needing lots of coffee today as I didn't sleep much last night.  We went to bed around 9PM, I think - and hubby started snoring.  Sigh. Usually, I can go to sleep anyway, but for some reason, I could not. I was still awake at 10:30PM and told myself if I was still awake in another hour, I would just get up - but I must have dozed off and on - cause I didn't look at the clock again until about 12:30AM and then at 5AM.  Did not want to get up this morning!  I need at least 7 hours of sleep, and I certainly did not get that last night.  And I can't lay back and sleep now - in fact, I need to stop right now and start getting ready for the breakfast at church.

So this is short, and abstract - probably more so than usual.   Hope you have a good day - and perhaps I'll remember to catch you on the day come tomorrow morning.

Blessings!
