It was a good weekend -

and yes, I did rest, as did hubby.  We changed things up again yesterday morning and ended up eating breakfast downstairs.  Or lets say we nibbled at it.  Potatoes were good.  Sausage and omelets not so much.  I did eat a yogurt.  But I wasn't very hungry to start with - I ate an muffin I had bought at LaMadeline's before we went down. Yummy, and makes me want to make up a batch of muffins here at home.  And I may do that - if I can find the time.

Hubby's cognitive ability really concerned me going home.  Most of you know how 'directionally challenged' I can be - but I have really gotten much better over the years.  I have Siri, who is my best friend, and I can generally find wherever it is I'm going.  Well, hubby got turned around a couple times as we were leaving the hotel.  Then as we took the major route home, he commented that he wondered if we were on the right road as nothing looked familiar.  Well, it was the right road and it was familiar to me as when I go to Mesa, I take this route back home.  I reminded him it has probably been 20+ year since he has driven anywhere near that route; it wouldn't be familiar.  I didn't say much to him about it, but it has concerned me.  We did go up to Norterra for I wanted to stop at Ross up there.  (The shops at San Tan Village didn't open until 11AM and I didn't want to just hang out for two hours until they opened. We'd be walking outside and I knew hubby couldn't do it for long)  We thought about grabbing something for lunch; hubby wanted a sit down place of course.  But, we ended up coming on home.  After a little while, I cooked up some pepper bacon, egg, and tomato sandwiches and he was very happy.  Watched NCIS for awhile then a movie before heading to bed.  It was still a good weekend. And it was good to sleep in my own bed.

Back at work this morning and I know I already have meetings to schedule. Shouldn't be too bad - last night only had 5 emails.  And my co-worker for whom I have covered the last 6 weeks - returns today as well.  Remove those 8 doctors from my list of coverage.  My male boss keeps me so busy anyway.  Keeps me out of trouble, right? HAH!

This week is the last week of June - where has the time gone?  Next week is a 3 day work-week.  I'm not sure of the reasons, but I think it is because people have so much work to do that they aren't taking PTO time off and taking a break from work.  So - people build up a lot of hours and then take 3 weeks off at a time - which causes a hardship for those in the departments that cover them.  I get it.  I think really that is the part of the reason - but they are messing with our vacation hours as any time off from work, we have to use them.  Our holiday hours are built into our PTO hours.  Now I currently have over 100 hours so am not worried about it.  But - I don't plan extensive times off either.  And I have to admit, I am looking forward to not feeling guilty about taking taking off and asking someone to cover me.

The week of July 4th - not only are we 'closed' on July 4th, because the 5th is Friday - they are 'closed' - which means we get a long weekend!  YAY!  Not that I have anything planned. I was looking at hotels for that weekend last week - but since we got away this past weekend, we won't be going anywhere.  Unless I get antsy again.  Thanksgiving we always get the Friday after off.  It's Christmas and New Years that is going to eat up PTO - Christmas is on Wednesday this year - and we are 'closed' the entire week of Christmas and the two days prior to New Years!  Reopen on January 2nd.  I will go totally insane.  I haven't committed to all the days off and may ask to 'save' some PTO and work - but if all my bosses take off, I don't know that I will have much work to complete!  It's a ways off yet anyway.  Will work on it then. But I am looking forward to two days off next week, making it a 4 day weekend.

Psalm 27:4   One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple.

There was a time (and still is at times) that my deepest longing was to spend every day sitting at Jesus' feet.  I was involved in prayer breakfasts, prayer meetings, prayer.  And all I wanted to do was be on my face before the LORD.  I read of people who literally gave up their lives to live at a church in a prayer room, spending all their time in prayer before the LORD.  I met Sister Therese, whom I shared in an earlier post, who was in constant prayer, managing the hermitages and taking time to sit in the chapel with God.  That's what I wanted.  I wanted to give all my time to the LORD and just sit at His feet continuously.  I wanted to live in a prayer room so that I could just sit at Jesus' feet all the time.  Even sleep there.  Of course hubby did not have the same mindset.

Well, that obviously didn't happen and life did.  Work, family, busyness - they all pulled me away from spending hours in prayer.  Little by little the busyness chipped away at my time with the LORD in prayer - to where today I have to search for time to just sit at His feet and talk with Him.  And, yes, even taking the time to write in here daily has taken time away for prayer and reflection.  THIS has become important to me.  I want to write in here daily; I want to share 'words of wisdom' (if I have any) with you that perhaps a scripture that I share touches your heart and gives you cause to pause and think.  I can only pray that whoever reads this will not only read for their amusement or to 'hear' what my boring daily life is like, but will reflect on who Jesus is and His love for each one of us.

I am thinking already about getting time alone to just spend time with Jesus, my Bible, my notebook, and time in prayer.  I need to block out time to be in fasting and prayer.  I need to go back to where it started, by opening up my heart to Jesus and asking Him to take over.  I confess, I have let 'life' take over a lot of my time.  And I don't even have kids at home!  But I do have hubby, and most of you will recall times that he 'needs' me close by.  He has such a fear of losing me, of me not being near to him, that sometimes I feel that it consumes him.  He's afraid of being alone; afraid that he will die and no one will be here.  That may stem from his dad having the massive heart attack and dying alone.... and not being found for 3 days.

At least when I go on Jailbreak in July it is only Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  I'll be home until late morning on Thursday, Friday he will have his Bible study to occupy his mind, Saturday he will be alone, and Sunday he can go to church as we won't return until mid-afternoon.  He has to have contact, even by phone, to keep from feeling alone.  Maybe I can get him to schedule a breakfast with one of his friends on Saturday; that will help I think.  Closer to time will suggest it.

As mentioned, today I'm back to work, hidden back in this back bedroom that I had to escape from for the weekend.  I'm not feeling as enclosed today.  Yet.  I can open up my shutters and let the sunshine in and that always helps.  Grateful I have a large window to let the light in.

And now, I have a very short time that I can just sit and be still so I'm going to take it.  Life is too short to fill it with busyness all the time.  Take a few minutes right now - open up the curtains (shutters) and sit at Jesus' feet and let Him fill you.  It will be the best thing ever.

Blessings!

Week Two... wonder how it will go....

As if you were wondering, I took week two pill today of the Fosmax.  The first week has not been so good, but part of it I have contributed to being in a different time zone and the long trip home.  What do I mean?  This past week I have been physically and mentally exhausted.  Well, that is how I have felt.  Even through yesterday I could not get enough sleep.  I would go to bed at 8PM and even though I would get up at 4AM to spend time with God, I would read a little and go back to sleep for a half hour or more.  Deep sleep.  I just could not wake up.  I am hoping that the pain I felt in my legs and neck do not return; and I hope that, even though today I still feel very tired, I will soon regain the focus and energy that I feel has been depleted.

I didn't sleep well last night for a couple reasons.  My favorite boss is heading out this way for a tour of one of our skilled nursing facilities.  Our original plan was that she is 12 minutes away so we need to meet up for brunch.  That plan worked well until I had to schedule a critical meeting during that time and there was no other place to put it.  So we left it that we'd have to not meet.  So why didn't I sleep and what did that have to do with it?  I laid awake trying to figure out a way that I could meet up with her.  After all, I do have her birthday present still that I haven't seen her to give to her.  And Saturday is also 'Boss's Day' so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with that.  Especially now that I have three bosses.  I think that I will just send a card to each one.  Maybe I'll run to the drugstore sometime today and pick out three and get in the mail.  Or, I could just go to Blue Mountain Cards as I have an account there and email them one.  Will have to make a decision on that today, I think.

The other thing that kept me awake was making myself remember I was to take that pill today.  They make it difficult.... one time a week; first thing in the morning; do not lay down or lay back for 30 minutes.  They prefer that you stand for 30 minutes - and suggested taking a shower.  So that's what I did this morning.  I came in to my room, took my pill with a lot of water, then took a shower.  That worked,  By the time I was finished and dressed, my 30 minute stay up time was completed and hubby was starting to wake up.  Surprised that the shower didn't awaken him, but then he does sleep without his hearing aids.  Now I can take my regular daily pills, drink a cup of coffee, and think about how the day is going to go.

I am going to jump online early so that I can once again look at my boss' calendar to see if there is any way we can meet up, even for a few minutes.  She wants to see my house and since she is so close - why not.  It isn't totally clean, but at least most things are put away and hubby did run the sweeper yesterday.  It would be nice if we could get away for a quick brunch or lunch, but if not, that's ok.

I started emptying my closet yesterday of Christmas gifts that I have already purchased.   One thing I have figured out; I need to QUIT buying for the great granddaughters.   The grandchildren are teenagers and above now and I see them so seldom I do not know what to give them.  I do know I want to see them.  Those with jobs now or live far enough away - well, I don't get to see them.  I had hoped the relationship we developed when they were growing up would keep us close as they grew up.  My heart aches to be around them again.

I more and more know how my mother felt; and yet, couldn't explain how it felt.  When a mother feels so much love for her family and yet is not a part of their lives, it leaves a lot of emptiness and loneliness for what was.  I imagine it is that same way for fatherss.  Longing for a closer relationship and yet, needing to let go and let the 'bird' fly on its own wings.  But always staying close by in case.... just in case.

In spite of circumstances; my prayer is that each of my children, my grandchildren, and my great-grandchildren, will always know I pray for them, and that I so dearly love them.  Things are not always what they seem in families.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you, may He be gracious to you.... may He turn His face towards you, and may He give you peace.

Wednesday.  Today.  Sit back and think about where you are with Jesus.  Do you know Him?  The Savior of the world?  The One who loves you more than His own life?  Spend some time talking with Him... He's near, waiting for you.

Blessings.
