A quiet evening....

but I did manage to last until 8:30PM before heading to bed.  Dinner wasn't 'prepared'.... we grazed on lunchmeat and cheese, potato chips and cheesecake cookies for lunch and dinner.  I kept thinking I'd get up and maybe fix something, but didn't.  Hubby was fine with his grazing.  I did some crochet; played my word game, read a little, and was ready for bed.  Time actually flew by while at work yesterday, although I didn't have that much to do.  My favorite boss is working today, the others are still off.  It will be a quiet day still.

I did managed to get the wrapping paper all put away back under the bed, and the top of the bed  -  we can actually see the quilt!  All the boxes are gone out of here and my son-in-law came over and picked up all the boxes yesterday so that huge stack is gone.  I received one last order that I had placed... I had seen these on Facebook, but didn't take in to account how small they are. I measured - 9.5 inches across.  Still, they are cute trays.  I'll put them back for now.... maybe I'll use them .... maybe I won't.  There is one more thing that I had ordered and it hasn't come in yet... bad thing is that I don't remember who I ordered it from; I thought it was from Amazon, but it isn't showing in my account.  Yet, I show some place in China has something I ordered and haven't received yet.  I think.  Anymore, one doesn't know where any thing is coming from!  Oh well, live and learn.  I need to track things better that I order online from unknown sources.

My daughter wants to have an 'adult only' gathering for New Years Day lunch as her children will be in Nebraska with the oldest one.  She also asked if I'd fix my ribs - although I don't do anything special with them. She offered to buy them.... and I offered to show her how I 'create' my ribs. LOL  I'll bring the coleslaw and black-eyed peas.  I know she invited both boys and their wives, but I don't know if either have replied yet.  Will probably eat, watch a movie, and go home.

I fuss with hubby all the time about the thermostat; keep it at 70-ish because I can always put on a sweater.  But yesterday, I got chilled in here.  For some reason, this room is either the coldest, or the hottest.  I was chilled, so about 3:15PM I sat in my chair and curled up in my blanket to warm up - and fell asleep - for 30 minutes!!  No biggie; no one was working yesterday anyway.  Wondered if I would be able to sleep last night - but did sleep until about 2:30AM - and then struggled to go back to sleep - and at 4AM decided I wasn't getting up yet and laid in bed dozing until nearly 4:45AM.  I think I got my sleep in.  Everyone should take a siesta in the afternoons - it helps get you through the evenings.  I should take more of them for I can get pretty sleepy about that time.

Psalm 103:1-2 (NKJV):  "Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, Bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: "

So many people find it so easy to take the Lord's name in vain - whether by exclaiming 'JESUS!' or 'GOD BLESS IT' (I'm sure that is just MY term of saying it....).... but why do they do that?  I don't think the Lord causes that hammer to hit that finger, or that anger to boil to the top, or anything bad to happen.  And yet, people tend to take His precious name in vain and do not think anything of it.

Don't they know that we are to honor the name of the Lord?  That we are to BLESS the Lord?  Why not say other words instead?  Sometimes I find myself saying 'PICKLES!' or 'DAGGONE IT' or something along those lines.... the Bible says do not take the Lord's name in vain, so I definitely do not want to!  We are to Bless the Lord, just as it says in Psalm 103.

We have become a complacent and demanding people, do you not think?  We take each day for granted, thinking that whatever happens, happens.... but do we try to make it a good day; do we work towards making it a pleasant day; are we praising the Lord and blessing Him for His faithfulness in providing work for us, for food on our tables, for our families, for health that is good enough to do things?  No, we tend to complain each time something doesn't happen the way we think it should.

Yes, I'm guilty of that as well.  I complain, as you well know.  But how many times do we think about the aches and pains we may have - and ask God to HEAL them?  Have we lowered ourselves so far that we don't ask because we don't believe He will heal us?  I believe with all my heart that when we come to God with a pure heart, seeking after Him, that He will hear us and will answer us.  Yes, sometimes is the answer is No.  Sometimes we pray for healing for someone who is well advanced in years and maybe it is their 'time' to go - and then we get mad because God didn't let them stay longer.  Kind of silly, isn't it... kind of selfish too.  Sometimes we want to keep them here for OUR benefit.  God uses each one of us to help someone else.  Sometimes our health issues are brought on by ourselves.  I'm not talking specifically about any health issue - but think about it -

Stress and worry about everything bring some anxiety.  What makes a person anxious?  Things that they think will happen.  And they usually don't.  When one gets anxious, pray about it!  Let the peace of God surround you!

Anger brings on high blood pressure and irritability, do you agree?  It can also bring on many other health issues.  Bitterness brings on health issues.   Only love can bring peace and calmness.

That's not to say that people who are calm and quiet and peaceful don't have health issues.  Sometimes they do.... and it brings them and others closer to God.  How does it do that?  We spend more time in prayer seeking answers and seeking God for His hand to heal them.   We need to learn to put God first and seek Him first.  His benefits far outweigh any thing that we hang on to.

I think I have shared many times that I have had to be on my face before God to help me through various emotions that I personally go through.  I have my anger times, my bitterness and frustration times, my happy times, and my painful times.  My head has hurt so badly that I have been on my face crying for release.... and He hears me on each prayer and answers.  Sometimes our prayers don't even need to be about us.... we need to be praying for our spouse, for our children.  How are they hurting?  What is it they need - even if they have never voiced that thought?  How can you pray for your family?

Does your spouse have issues that are painful?  Have you prayed for their healing?  Never think that your prayers don't matter, for they do. But you resist - and I think it is because you feel that God won't listen to you because of your life and pushing Him out of your life.... so you will let your family suffer because of your stubbornness.....  God's Word does say that He will not listen to a husband's prayer if he is mean to his wife.  I wonder if I can find that one.... but it can also apply to a wife.

I Peter 3:7 (NKJV):  "Husbands, likewise dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered."

If your spouse (wife, husband) or child (children) needed prayer, would you pray for them?  And if you did, would your prayers be hindered because of how you treat them?

Sometimes we all - me included - need to step back and reflect on what we say and do - because when I pray for my hubby, pray for my children and their families, pray for friends..... I do not want my prayers to be hindered because I'm too stubborn and self-righteous in my own mind.  Does that make sense?

Above all things, guard your heart and mind, that you will be found ready to pray for those you care for.

Blessings!
