A quiet evening...

With all the chaos and planning for this upcoming wedding, I stayed home last night and didn't go visit the daughter.  Hubby left early to meet one of the men for dinner and that was fine with me.  I think I ate yogurt and crackers.  I wasn't really hungry.  I had a big salad for lunch (I had gotten it from Salad n Go on Sunday and had forgotten about it).  Couldn't even eat all of it.  But my evening was quiet and nice.  I wasn't sure what I wanted to do.   Start packing?  Naw, too soon (will definitely need to do it tonight).  I sat down and watched three - yes, three - movies!  I crochet'd some.  I watched the one The Girl Who Believed in Miracles that we had watched a week or so ago.  I didn't cry all the way through it as I did the first time, but the ending always gets me.  Such a great, great movie.  I always pray that God will increase my faith.

My yesterdy was out of sync, as you can probably figure out since I didn't write in here.  I had an hour session at the gym at 5:30AM ... and I was so tired when I got up.... I dilly-dallied (it's a southern word) until time to leave.  It was a good workout - I think he said I got 9 workouts in!  Shoulders, biceps, triceps, chest, back.  I'm feeling it this morning.  We finished about 10 minutes early so just chatted.  On my way home I decided to get gas in the car so stopped to fill it up.  By the time I got home, I had to get on the computer and get started on the day.  And it was a very busy day!  I was hit with scheduling one meeting after another and do other things besides.  I told my one boss to just 'stop it'!  I reminded him I was going to be gone Thursday and Friday....  I'm sure he was sorta panicking.  LOL  He had forgotten until I reminded him.  Told him who would be covering for me... but if things could wait until I get back on Monday, that would work too.

I've finally gotten moved from the back room to this desk again.  I pretty much have to stay awake here; can't lay back and relax and sleep some as I do back there; and that is so tempting most mornings.  And today being pill day, I did need to stay upright and not laying back.  Hopefully today for work won't be bad and I can get caught up on some things.

We will be heading out tomorrow morning so may not have time to put anything in here... not that it matters.  I will be taking my computer with me, I think.  I like having it available to check on things...although I can also do it on my phone.  It's just easier to send emails and type from here.  I will offer to let hubby check the bank while there; he doesn't usually take his computer.  But as many junk (in my opinion) emails he gets that are political, etc., I think he should take his own so that he can clean it up!  He just gets so side-tracked with all the political 'crap' that pops up.

Had a nice long chat with my older brother yesterday.  Via text of course.  He doesn't like talking on the phone and most times I prefer to text as well.  We've all lost that 'personal' touch.  Shame on us.  We've become isolated because of emails and texting.  We truly do need that face to face/voice to voice contact, more than many realize.  I had looked through my older sister's album I have and saw mother standing next to a sunflower.  My brother had sent me a photo a week or so ago of him standing next to his 10'+ sunflower... yesterday I remembered the photo of mother and sent it to him.  I think it meant a lot to him.  He even commented on how pretty mother looked as she had to have been in her 30's when it was taken.  I think next year I will buy some sunflower seeds and plant a few in our front courtyard.  I had a few small ones last year that I had come across, but they died out.  How I wish I had more area to plant flowers!  But, alas, the HOA will not let us 'plant' anything (water issue) except in the courtyard. Which is stupid, cause we now  have cactus in pots in the back yard and we still have to water them.  I could easily move from here if I could find a small house with a small yard, where I could do whatever I wanted to.  Another life dream.  I'm getting too old now to have much of those dreams, or to do much with them. And that makes me sad.

I've had so many dreams.  Haven't you?  And many have not come to fruition.  It is what it is.  I told my brother than I probably will not retire as long as I can do the job I'm doing.  I have given my boss permission to let me go if I fail to keep up on what I am to do.  And then I'll find another job.  But, working from home I am being paid very well.  It's harder to work from home, don't get me wrong!  But I do get a good paycheck and it allows us to do a lot of things.  LOL And allows hubby to go to breakfast/lunch/dinner with his friends.  And that's ok.  I do my thing too.  Usually buy books. haha

2 Kings 2:23-24 (KJV):  "And as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord."

Do you know what was going on here?  I had to stop and ponder this.  I know this scripture says 'children', and it was 'older' children - youth, that followed the prophet Elisha and was saying those words to him.  "Go up, you bald head! Go up, you bald head!"  He must have had a bald head, ya think?   These youths were young men, not children, and possibly falsa prophets of Baal.  They were telling Elisha to 'go up' as Elijah had just a short time before. (Elijah was taken by God straight up to heaven, remember?  He never died)  The youth showed contempt not only for Elisha, but for the Lord by calling him names.  So after Elisha cursed them in the name of the Lord, what happened?  Are you ready for this?  Two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths!

How many times have we made fun of other people?  Perhaps it wasn't their 'bald head'; many men have bald heads now.  But we make fun of people (admit it!) at times when they are obese. Or they have let their hair get stringy or wear clothes that are too tight or too revealing.  I know I have made the comment to hubby that we need to quit going out to eat.  Other than a couple people have commented that 'you guys go out to eat a lot'.  Why did I tell hubby we needed to quit going out to eat?  Because at some of these places... and you will agree, I'm sure.... some of these people are quite large.  Because they go out to eat a lot.  Perhaps I just notice it more because we are in an 'older community'.  And people our age just don't get the exercise.... and continue (as we do), to eat as much as we did in our younger years.  Anyway, now I've gotten off topic so will hush.  We are what we eat, right?

We shouldn't make fun OF other people, but if they do things intentionally to make us laugh at them, that's another story, right?  Most of all, put yourselves in their shoes, and be kind.   Some people just want to be loved, and they don't know how to act to get it.  Be kind.  People do strange things to get attention.  Me included in that comment.  I often look back at my life in embarrassment at things I recall.  And shame. And repentance of my ignorance.  But we all do things that are stupid, are crazy, are uncalled for.  All becaues we are craving love and attention.  Hubby is the meanest when he wants attention.  I think we all get sarcastic or sharp toned when we want validation of who we are.

Don't take your spouse for granted;  Many have insecurity issues.  They want to be valued and appreciated.  Even those of us who work... sometimes an 'I appreciate' is valued.  I'm glad I have bosses that say that to me frequently.  Otherwise it would be hard to work with them.  Unfortunately, it is with family members or friends that we neglect that 'I appreciate you' comment.  Share some love today.  Be kind.

Blessings!
