Don't do anything; don't get tired...

Yesterday was pretty much a 'do-nothing' day, I think.  After my coffee, (which my granddaughter made for the two of us in a French Press and it was so good) we figured out what to eat for breakfast.  I had bought the English Muffins and Canadian Bacon and eggs... but... no cheese. So, we ate little white donuts (and I ate way too many of them); the little one ate cereal.  I forget what anyone else ate - if anything.  I think we ate fruit from the fruit tray we bought.  Anyway, after that, everyone got ready and we headed out to Walmart and picked up cheese and a few other things.

And yeah, I got caught in her charm.  LOL  The little princess and I (she in the cart) were walking around while mom and grandma were looking at other things... and I started down a row in the toy section.  On the top shelf was this large baby doll.  The little princess looks up at it and commented on the 'big baby'.  I said 'yeah, it is a big baby', and started to move past it... when the little princess looks up at me with big eyes and goes, "Oma, I want the big baby, please?"  So what does Oma do?  What any great grandmother would do.  She bought it for the little princess.  And she carried it around with her for quite a while.

From there we went to a yarn shop and did a little shopping there.  Not so much me, since I am still very much a novice with my crochet or knitting skills. I just don't take the time to learn new things. I know a few basic stitches and all the baby blankets I have donated have either been in the granny stitch or the V stitch.  I've gotten pretty fast and good at both.  It's a donated blanket - and I think they appreciate whatever they can get.  I have made a few blankets and put in the cedar chest for any great grandchildren that arrive after I'm gone.  Just like my mama did.  Only she gave me a couple to pass on ... and I have.  My son's daughter's child has one that my mama made.  I love that when I have explained what value I have placed on an item, my granddaughter treasures that memory as well.

After the yarn shop we came back here and never left, leftovers from the night before for lunch, and then ordering pizza for dinner.  We tried to teach the little princess how to play Uno by color, but she didn't have much interest in it.  Once she had her bath and went to sleep, which by then didn't take long, we played Uno and the two others solidly beat me. And enjoyed every moment of it I think!  It was fun playing the game, though.

And, because I wasn't active yesterday, not really, I didn't sleep that well cause the body wasn't tired.  You ever have those days?  But today -

Today will be our train ride and I think we ae doing the afternoon one, which will be good so that the little one can see more.  I've only done the sunset one many, many years ago, so this will be a treat too, for me. We splurged on the first class tickets so will have the covered railcar as well as the open one I think. They also have food (snacks) for us.  We will be heading over late morning as I think it leaves at 1PM. It's a 4 hour ride - 2 hours to the end and then back 2 hours.  Don't look down at some parts, if I recall correctly.  But it will be a fun memory to reflect back on.

Acts 24:14 (NKJV):  "But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets."

So how are you doing with this?  Do you believe as your father before you believed?  I think we all pretty much had praying grandmothers and grandfathers who prayed for our parents, and for ourselves as we were growing up.  I remember my Granny, my mother's mother, sitting out on the porch, or in her rocker in the house, reading the very large Bible that she had.  (which my little sister managed to get)  I know she prayed for us.  I remember my Grandma and Grandpa, my father's parents, who also prayed for us.  And I try to always remember my grandchildren in prayer and need as they are made known to me, and for general coverings when I don't.  I hope and pray that each of my grandchildren know how much I love them, and that I pray for each one by name.  I may not see them or even hear from them very often, but they are always covered in prayer.

Covering my grandchildren in prayer doesn't mean I live a perfect, prayerful life.  Far from it.  My life is chaotic and full of 'stuff' that sometimes I need to throw out and start over.  But I love each grand and great-grandchild dearly.  As much as I love my own children, in spite of their wayward ways.  I have labored in prayer for each one of them and I hold on to the belief that there will be a day that all my children will become believers and follow Jesus.  Not be a fan... but be a Follower.  There is a difference.

Perhaps you need to be laboring in prayer for your own children.  Many times I hear of things that have happened, or are happening, and my heart aches for each one... knowing that sometimes decisions made are not always made by them, but by others due to circumstances.  Sometimes they are the ones that need to be lifted even more in prayer for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.

I worship the God of my father and mother, my grandparents, and I'm sure many grandparents beyond them.  I am grateful they chose to follow Jesus and taught us how by example to do so as well.  I am who I am, and where I am in my walk with Jesus, because of the prayers offered for me, even before I was born.  Therefore, I pray it forward for my own children and grandchildren and great grandchildren and beyond.

I pray also that each one of you will be praying for yours - and for those who will be joined to your children and down the line.  Prayer works.  Just keep praying, and keep trusting God for the answers.

Blessings!
