I am hoping that I get more done this week than I have the past two-three weeks! I am so far behind in everything - and you know what? I'm ok with it. I am realizing that a lot of things that I 'take on' at this time of year - really is not that important. Yes, I'm way behind in my baking - but do people really care? I mean, they ACT like they are happy to get my goodies - and they are good - but.... would it be wiser to buy a small gift and gain back all my time and effort and expense? Something to think about, perhaps. Although I also have been sitting here thinking that perhaps (possibly when I 'retire', if I ever do), maybe I could stop buying 'things' they may or may not ever use - and make instead meals and freeze them - and hand off to them 3-4 meals that could be eaten. Of course that kind of thinking may not be welcomed.
There is definitely nothing I NEED; but I do enjoy receiving, of course. Just like you - who may say "I need nothing; don't buy me anything" knowing that I/we definitely WILL buy you 'something'. At least you may have given ideas over the past few months. Thank you for that.
Can I put a hold on time this morning? Daggone - it has jumped 12 minutes in the past minute! Does that mean this day will go by fast? I have too much to do!!
My daughter moved to rehab yesterday. I was there (thank goodness!!) when she was moved so was able to gather her 'things' at the hospital and took them to her house, made sure the cats were fed and cleaned out the litter box (I can't stand seeing a full litter box), and gathered clothes, underwear, essentials, etc. and took over to the rehab place for her. Neither of us thought of hearing aid batteries, so the granddaughter will need to take those over to her when she goes. I visited for a short while at the rehab, getting her personal items put away. Once she got a pain pill (which may happen frequently these first days of rehab), she was ready to sleep so I came home. She has already text'd this morning that she will have rehab at 9AM and 1PM - each for 90 minutes. This is going to be intense, I'm thinking. I think it is each for 90 minutes - will see if she can last that long. I'm sure after each she will be worn out and taking muscle relaxers AND pain pills! I will probably do a quick visit after my workout at 5PM - so there around 6PM, I'm guessing - but I have so much to do here at home that I will not be staying long. Hubby will probably be with me, if he goes to the gym with me. I may check in with my daughter and see if she will even want visitors after the first day of rehab. Grateful she is getting much better. Thank You, Jesus, for answered prayers.
My oldest son got his 'treatment' completed yesterday and I hope he is feeling much better, although from his blog, taste buds are not cooperating well. Still praying for him and his healing as well. Glad the hospital didn't decide he needed 'more' treatment and keep him - but wish he didn't have to go at all. Prayer does work; but answers are in God's timing, not mine.
Yesterday was church, and of course lunch right after (sigh) - we went to McAllister's yesterday. Hubby offered to 'buy' so I let him. I am going to have to start cooking again - haven't really cooked in over two weeks; perhaps 3, and that means we are eating out a lot. $$ for sure. I'm ok with fast food at times, but hubby loves to eat and well, I'll leave that there. I'm ok with a protein shake at home too. Which is what I may have this morning just to get something in me. I did thaw out some BBQ pork I had made several months ago and froze - so we did have that last night for dinner. And there is more than enough that it will be eaten today for lunch as well. Maybe dinner too, if I have my way - but then, I'm still not 'cooking'.
This week I know I need to get a couple gift card - one we have started sending to hubby's brother and wife. I'm a bit irritated - he is starting to nag at me to get it done this week.... which means I am to pay for it. He could easily go do it himself. He picked out a cheese package to have sent to them, but I told him no - I'd rather send a gift card and let them go out to eat. Not that they need the money. They both are in poor health; surprisingly hubby's brother is 10 years younger and physically he is worse off than hubby is. SIL is not in good shape either, and she is in her 80's.
When people get 'our age' - we find that there isn't much that we need. Just thinking, what would be a fun gift for me, is that YOU pick out a cookbook that contains food that YOU enjoy... and then perhaps sometime during the year I can make food from it for YOU! That would be a win-win for me - I love / enjoy cooking, and I like trying new recipes. Yeah, that's a great idea! A cookbook of food that you enjoy... I could do that!
Back to work today and I have plenty to do. I'm hoping to get it done this morning, and then have a lull where I can get some wrapping done. I really need to focus on that and get it done.
I put my two solar trees out on the columns last night... they were flashing when we went to bed. I just peeked out and it is dark - did their solar battery wear down? I don't know. I do know it is dark now; will check soon to see if they are still there. I thought before we went to bed that maybe I should set them in the courtyard and turn them off. Will see when it gets lighter.
God is good; all the time. And all the time, God is good.
Have you ever thought that no matter what happens, that God is 'in it'? We get hurt; get sick - yet God uses that time to get our attention. He uses that opportunity to say "here I AM, don't forget me. Remember me? I am the One who directs your path and makes your path straight. Trust Me. Lean into Me. Let Me be your heart's desire; let Me heal you, where you need it most. I love you so much, I gave you my one and only Son. Will you let me guide you, heal your, help you with what troubles you?" Sometimes we just need to let go and let God take over.
Those thoughts are running through my mind this morning. What am I hanging on to - is it pleasing others? Is it wanting my children to have what I didn't have growing up? Am I over-bearing and wanting it my way? What is it that I need to let go of. What is it that I need to surrender. Thoughts run through my mind... and they certainly were not put there by me. I don't go looking for things to think about - so maybe I need to 'pay attention' to these thoughts.
Things that make one go hmmm. And with that, I need to jump off here and begin to gather my thoughts for today. Wishing you a day full of love and joy.
Blessings!
