The day after the fireworks...

And here I am early this morning; everyone still in bed.  Grateful.  I notice this morning that it really isn't 'quiet' - other than there isn't anyone here to talk to me, except God.  And He's ok. :-)  The cats have a water bowl that is constantly flowing; I think that is the noise I hear.  I don't know what else it could be and I'm not going searching.  But everyone is still in bed; 5:06AM here - 4:06AM at home.  I've been up about 30-45 minutes already.  Nearly done with my first cup of coffee.

The men had bought a lot of fireworks to set off and they were really pretty.  I guess there isn't any law in place in this little town as far as what fireworks you can set off.  There were people on both ends of this street - and us - setting off fireworks, there were fireworks going off on the streets all around us.  The cousins played some with sparklers and a few other things, I think.  After the fireworks, hubby and I called it a night, basically.  It was around 10PM here (and fireworks were still going off!) and I knew hubby was tired.  I must have been as well for once I fell asleep, I don't think I moved from my side.  I got up this morning for a few minutes then went back to bed, finally getting up about 30 minutes later because I couldn't fall back so sleep.  It woke hubby enough he told me to stay in bed, but I got up anyway and came in here for some time alone.  I'm not used to a house full of people nearly continuously.  Not that it is a bad thing, but since I am 'alone' with work or just with hubby, more than one person is a lot. LOL  Am I getting old?  Don't answer that!

Today, later this afternoon, we are to get fancied up and go to the park to have our family photos taken. I have eaten so much junk food these past few days I am hoping I can still get in my dress!  I felt fat in it when I tried it on; I can just imagine how I'll feel this time.  But God and I have chatted about it this morning and He reminded me I am made in His image and I am beautiful in His sight.  And that is all that matters.  Pictures will fade and be thrown away; but my relationship with Him will never fade away. Grateful.

I may not be able to write in here tomorrow morning as we plan to get on the road to head back home fairly early, I imagine.  But then, 9AM is 8AM our time so it's still early.  I haven't really 'unpacked' anything; just taking what I need out of my bag.  It shouldn't be too hard to put things back in the bag tonight and be ready to go.  This computer goes in my backpack so I may be able to write a few lines.  I am sorta looking forward to getting back home as there is a 10 hour drive in between here and there.  But it has been good time to be here.

We've enjoyed hanging out with family.  The girls seem to play well together.  They, and their 'Uncle Tio' have spent a lot of time in the pool.  I did get in the jacuzzi for a short while yesterday.  It's interesting how it's set up here - there is the house - and then you go out the sliding glass doors into another large room - which contains the pool and jacuzzi.  It does get humid and warm in there cause the pool and jacuzzi stay heated, of course.  It's been nice to just go get in the pool whenever we want since it is just outside the door.  I don't think hubby got in yesterday, but he did the day before, when I did not.  I'm just not a pool person much.  Used to be, but that was a lifetime ago.

Hubby is up and in the bathroom. Will he come out here - yep - here he is coming down the hall.  Fixed his coffee and now I'm heating up my second cup.  Got to stay out of the junk food today.  I've been so bad!  But, in my favor, it hasn't ALL been 'my fault'.  (Ok, so I could have done without!)  We had for breakfast yesterday the things I had made to bring - pumpkin scones, cranberry pumpkin nut bread, brownies, and cinnabons I had purchased at our last stop.  The daughter had gone to Walmart and picked up 3-4 kinds of other pastries.  No protein there!  Today I don't know what we are going to have as nothing was discussed.  There are a few pastries and some breads left.  We had brauts and hamburgers yesterday, along with chips and salsa and cheeseball for lunch.  Pizza last night for dinner from Dominos.  I guess I did have a hamburger so did get 'some' protein.  LOL  I do need to get refocused again and eat better.  I feel more energetic when I do eat better.

I made up two batches of salsa and two cheeseballs yesterday - I think we finished off one cheeseball so have the other for today - but there is still a lot of salsa left.  Imagine that!  At least I was able to contribute something and it felt good being in the kitchen 'doing my thing'. :-)

Isaiah 12:4 (NKJV):  In that day you will say: "Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name, make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted."

Wouldn't this world be a better place if the nations of the world would stop fighting and just exalt the name of the Lord?  Wishful thinking on the part of a lot of people, I feel.  His name IS great, and mighty and holy and sovereign... and so much more.  When was the last time you praised the Lord for His faithfulness, His goodness, to you?  When was the last time you acknowledged that 'things went right' and you just might have whispered a prayer in your mind that it would.... did you pause to also whisper "thank You, Lord" when it turned out?  So many times we ask, and receive, and then we forget to thank Him.  Travel mercies?  Yes please. Thank You, Lord.  Don't be afraid to proclaim His name, His goodness, His faithfulness.  The Lord is above all things.

Let's remember to thank the One who loves you more than you will ever remember.

Blessings!
