Hubby has gone to the gym and I am enjoying a bit of quiet this morning. I took the day off work so that I can make sure I get everything packed and purchased (yarn) that I want for the trip. I do have a 10:30AM chiropractor appointment, and from there will head to Hobby Lobby to pick up yarn for the trip. I have my 5PM training (HIIT) tonight as well. I really didn't 'need' to take today off work, but decided I wanted to. And I'm glad I did. No real reason. I am just glad I did.
I understand we will be picked up about 6:45AM tomorrow morning so am not sure if I can get something written in here or not before we leave. Yes, I am planning on taking my computer... maybe if I sit in the 3rd row (alone), I can do some typing as we travel - even if I can't get into the internet, I can type it in Word and then cut and paste, right? Or not. What would I have to share, anyway? Most days anymore I have no life but just put down rambling words. Maybe I'm writing too often? Just a thought.
The youngest has asked me to make something for the grandmother of his Army buddy. When he asked, I agreed to do it. And I want to do it. And yes, he offered to pay for yarn and labor. Yarn, yes, labor, probably not. I create things for others because I want to. But this one will be a challenge for I don't know how to crochet or knit that well and stick with what I know... standard double crochet or V-stitch or granny stitches. That's about it. He wants an afghan. No big deal. I have made several for children and grandchildren; I can do that. But then.... this one is circular, and in a Navajo print. I have no idea how to do a circular afghan - but it will be interesting to learn. I've gone to Pinterest and there are some rectangle patterns there with the Navajo pattern on it. But it would be fun to learn to do something different. I always said I'd wait until I retired, but maybe I should learn now. I will research it and see if I can figure it out. And if I can't - the rectangle one it will be! I think we are going Monday to look at the yarn and he can select the colors he wants. I can practice this weekend on a small one and get my granddaughter (who is way ahead of me in learning new stitches!!) can perhaps help me figure it out.
My big brother will turn 80 the latter part of the month. My younger sister will turn 70 the middle of August. When did family get so 'old'? I would love to go celebrate with each one... but I won't. I would like to find a special gift for my big brother, although he doesn't need anything. For my little sister I'm trying to pull together 70 gifts (you know, gum, candy, books, etc.) because I know her family doesn't do much to celebrate her for any birthday. She begged for a 60 or 65 birthday party - and her hubby just had the son and his family over to celebrate with her. That's his idea of party I guess. My children have always gone overboard on surprising me - for my 60th and for my 75th. At least I know my 80th may be the next one. I think. If hubby is still here on his 90th (I know, that sounds horrible), I want to plan a party for him. I have given him a couple parties at church in the past, but nothing big, just the congregation or the class we were in. But hey - at least I bought a cake and candles and made a big deal of it! We did meet this year at a restaurant on his birthday.... and I think we have in years past... he loves the attention. Don't we all.
Go figure. I had an email from Lori, our Needles of Hope coordinator, that they are meeting on Saturday (as we always do) at Panera - and she has 3 large donations of yarn. I told her I couldn't make it - so maybe she will hold back until next month to bring all the donations. I usually take the 'leftovers' after everyone takes what they want, but sometimes I am able to grab some good stuff. I don't know how to crochet as well as most of these women do so I let them take first. But should I? I donate just as much as they do - and in some cases, more. Interesting thought. Oh well. I won't be there this week anyway. I have enough yarn to do baby blankets; but what if I want to do more? Then again - WHAT? I have no idea of how to make anything. Maybe it's time to learn.
And I'm rambling, cause I have nothing to tell. Hubby and I went to Master Taco for dinner last night. Didn't think about it being 'taco Tuesday' and we ordered the meals instead of just the cheaper tacos. Oh well. I ordered a chili rellenos and enchilada - but I didn't care for either one. The taste just didn't set well with me. So we went to 'Mighty Moo' ice cream afterwards and shared a banana split. Can you get this? He really irritated me!! We shared the banana split. Vanilla, Strawberry, and Chocolate ice cream, right? I'm eating off one side, he the other. I guess I ate too much of the chocolate and he actually got after me! I forget what he actually said, but my 'irritated self' stood up and wanted to tell him what for.... but I bit my tongue and for spite, took another bite of the chocolate! He knew he had 'crossed the line' cause then he 'encouraged' me to eat the chocolate after asking me what was my favorite. The nerve! And yes, I ate the strawberry and vanilla as well, and no, I had not eaten a lot of the chocolate by then - but I had noticed he had! How dare he comment on how much of any flavor I wanted to eat! I got over it - but it made me mad.
When was the last time you read I John? I was reading in the introduction this morning and this stood out to me:
'John says: Let me make it simple. Walk with Jesus. Cling to your faith. Stay in the light. When you sin, confess and move on. And show your love for Jesus by loving your brothers and sisters in His name.'
I think that sums up the Christian life quiet well. Walking with Jesus is the first step - and it is so simple. Cling to your faith. Keep believing in the impossible. Stay in the light. Keep your eyes on Him. When you sin, confess and move on. So many times we tend to confess it, and then wallow in our confession and never get over our sin. Sometimes, I get it, our sins bring consequences, and we have to deal with that, but believe that when you confess your sin, that Jesus is faithful and just and He forgives your sin and cleanses you from all unrighteousness. His Word says so - and you can take that to the bank!. Move on. Don't wallow. You are forgiven when you confess. His grace is sufficient for you. Don't let your sin bury you - move on and change the world. Love others as you want others to love you. Sometimes that is a hard one. We all have difficult people in the world that trouble us and cause us grief. You know all about mine. Sigh.
And with that - hubby is back home so I'm going to jump off here. Maybe I can do a short blog in the morning - of what I have not idea. But perhaps during the time there.......... stay safe!
Blessings!
