That's what is for breakfast this morning! And I'm talking STRONG coffee! It has been a crazy 'short' week! I should have worked Monday, even though it was a holiday. I should have gotten on the computer and worked some. But I didn't. One of those should have would have could have things.
I'm finally "caught up" - if there is such a thing. Oh, I still have work to get done, but it isn't as pressing as everything else has been. It has been an extremely crazy week - and I had two meetings to go to yesterday. The first one, to which I had not been invited, I got invited to at 8AM. The meeting was to discuss our duties, among other things. Another team member is being pulled from my team and put on the 'other side', doing Medicaid instead of Medicare. Another person is being brought on. That leaves me of the three member team that hasn't been taken off yet and replaced.
Does that mean I'm doing a good job and they want to keep me here? Or does that mean I'm next? I am not worried at all. If they want to put anyone else on this position, have at it! It is hard work, it is intensive, and it is crazy at times. I have to meet deadlines, some within minutes of being out of compliance. I have to make phone calls to members, which sometimes makes me uncomfortable. I usually just pick up and the phone and 'just do it' to get it done.
This week I called the power of attorney, aka POA, to tell them the physical therapy requested for their spouse had been approved. She tells me that they died on Monday.
I call another POA, who proceeds to tell me his wife has dementia and is in an assisted living place and he has to move because after 67 years of marriage he can't stay in their home alone anymore. His daughter buys him all organic food and free range chicken and eggs. His wife can remember things from 40 years ago but can't tell him what she had for breakfast. He doesn't go see her every day because it is too painful. He used to be a gymnast. He and his wife worked out together at a gym for years.
So I get to hear the life stories sometimes. Which is ok, and I listen, and be compassionate, but it takes time from getting my work done. Oh well. It's all in a day's work.
Today is the last day of May. What does this mean for me? It means EVERYTHING has to be completed today. Which isn't too bad for me as I usually leave with nearly everything completed anyway. But I try to help on the medicaid side too when I can.
On my way in to work this morning God was good and gave me the center lane wide open for a ways. Well, until a blue car, for some unknown reason, decided to pull from the right lane in front of me. I'm going 65 in the 55 mind you, as is every one else. Just staying in the flow of traffic. Hey - it's 6:05AM, you can do that. Anyway, this blue car pulls in front of me...... and slows down to 55 mph. Ok, I slow down, no biggie. Cars are flying by us. Then they drop to 50. I'm thinking 'what is going on? what do I need to learn from this situation? Is there something I should see?' This continues at 50 MPH, with everyone else on both sides flying by us. I'm about 2 car lengths behind him and I take one hand and did a 5 5 , meaning hey, it's 55MPH here! After about 1/2 mile he pulls off into the right lane, and as I drive by him, he rolls down his window and gives me the bird! Can you believe it?!! And he gets off at that exit. I laughed at him. He probably thought it would make me angry, and I hope he felt better from doing it, but it just showed how low he is as a person, in my eyes. It is what it is.
So here I am at work, ready to start a new day, and a busy one at that. I'm already tired, and I got out at 5:45PM last night. Tonight is a leadership meeting.... will see if I can make it. Right now, not too sure.
Starting my day off with a protein bar and a strong cup of coffee. Want to join me?
Blessings!
