thought I had lost it..... and it's Monday.....

Yes, today was to begin a new post. Or rather, new subjects to talk about on this blog. It took me forever to find this blog. Yes, recently I created a new blog so that I could use this one for its original intent. I even had a thought to start it with. But time has now escaped me and annoyance at interruptions has removed the time and the sharing I wanted to do.

But I finally found this blog. I need my son to look at this and see how to break the two apart. This is what happens when you get someone who isn't knowledgeable abotu computers and starts rushing through things trying to figure it out. With constant interruptions from another one of course. UGH.

Monday. Got a ton of work to do today. Made lemon meringue pies yesterday. Kind of planned to make a couple mroe today - but need to see if my oldest son wants any.... if he doesn't, no need to do it as I don't know where we would take them. They are a bit toooo sweet for me.

Hubby had to interrupt this morning to read me the latest from the doctor who is working with our VP on the COVID 19 stuff. She says for two weeks do not go to the grocery store. Do not go to the drug store. Do not go anywhere. We have got to get a stop on this virus. I haven't been allowed out of the house too much - and only once by myself and that was two weeks ago to donate blood.

The daughter has stopped by a couple times - brought me TP - for which I am grateful as we are down to about 6 rolls and I always like to have an extra pack to fall back on. I did online for Frys last week - and it was pretty cool. I ordered, then emailed me back with what they were out of and what they could substitute it with. No, they had no TP they said. I made the selections, they took it out of my bank account, I found a time they had available (had to wait two days) but I was able to go there, they came out to my car, loaded it in the trunk, and off I went. NICE. Plus I saved money for I would have bought a lot more had I been able to stroll through the store. Just go online and select what you want. May have to wait a few days (depending on which store - I changed stores as the usual one was a week out - what I changed to (and closer to me) was within two days).

Need to get busy - maybe tomorrow I can find this faster and start off with a decent post.

Blessings!

Sunday.... the first one in April....

It is a beautiful Sunday here in Arizona. The sun is shining, warm, but not too warm (at least yet). It is still so odd staying home all the time. I work from the kitchen table during the week on office stuff, cause our stupid (yes, stupid) internet will not extend to the alcove. I did buy a wifi extender, but I can't tell that it is working any better yet. So I stay here in the kitchen area nearly every day. I have my personal laptop under my work laptop so it's easy to switch them out. And yes, now I'm on my personal one. I try to keep them separate - although I do use my work laptop during the week since I'm on it, to write in here. When I do. Lately I have been so busy with work stuff that I haven't had time to even think of it.

Hubby has decided he wants to write his blog … he did one when it was first created - in 2013. I finally found it, but couldn't find a 'new post' so we ended up instead of Pastortomsponderings, I changed it to Pastortomspondering. It took it and it came up the way it should. I don't know. All I can do is just say I don't know. I told hubby once this quarantine is over, he can have our son come over and look at it -or he can continue with what I was able to do. I saved to his favorite so he knows all he needs to do now is click on that link.

I'm not good at all with computers and I'll be the first to admit it. I tried to create a new blog totally the other day, but I think it is linked into this one. I was going to do Random Thoughts, but it didn't look like it took. So then I tried 'mycursorranaway' and that took, but it looks like it is under random thoughts. I don't know what I did. But, I want to go back to using this blog as for it's original intent. Even if the other doesn't work.

Yes, I want to use this blog for what I wanted it for. I wanted to put positive and encouraging messages on it. Take scripture and give my thoughts on it. Instead, over the years, I have made it into a sad state. I griped, complained, and whined most days. Well, perhaps some days it was informative, but for the most part, I don't like what it has become.

So, I created the other blog so that I can gripe and complain. LOL I do need some outlet, correct? Don't know if it will work or not, but …

Today is Palm Sunday. We watched two church services this morning. Free Chapel is Pastor Jentezen Franklin's service and I really love the fact that this man preaches the Bible. There are no gray areas. The Gathering Place is our church, with Pastor Paul and Jill Johnson. It's online too, and Pastor Paul also teaches the Bible. That's why we go there.

But what I really miss is preaching that tells me what the Bible says and how to apply it to my life today. I miss having people in my life who would hold me accountable. People I could talk to and share my heart with. That is something I am processing now. I may start my own group. Yeah. Now that's a real thought. I will have to pray about whom to invite as it would need to be a closed group. But I would love to find women who want to study and share God's Word and what they need to share personally, need prayer for, share joys and fears. That is something to ponder. Why was it laid on my heart? Because I miss it. At one time, for several years, I was in such a group. But, pastors changed, disruptions happened, I changed, we changed, we changed churches, and although I'm sure I could find someone there.... with working it is harder to get together.

So enough of that.... what are you feeling right now? Where are you hearing God's Word? How has the covid 19 pandemic affected you?

Blessings!

Stay well.

Somewhat Stir-Crazy - Yes, that's what I am....

I'm going on another week of working from home. Haven't been real successful in that respect, other than scheduling LOTS of meetings - I struggle with our internet (for some reason the signal here in the kitchen is very weak and I keep dropping) up and down, with VPN (work) being slow - and I just get tired of sitting at the table all the time. Yes, I think I may have mentioned it before, I had to move from the alcove I had set up with my computers - to the kitchen table. Still, the signal is weak. After numerous discussions with Cox Cable, the technician we talked to this time told us we need to get what is called a wifi extender and to pick it up at the Cox Store. There is one not far from here so hubby went there today - and was told that they only sold in sets of 3 adn we only need one (we are one level and we really aren't that big). So - I went to Amazon and odrered it - on sale for $15.99 - I liked that. Should be here Thursday. Sure hope it helps - even when we sit in the front room the signal is so weak we lose internet on our phones, on our kindles, on our ipads. It's a pain. Hopefully this will help.

I've finally managed to get one set of minutes completed and sent to my boss. I still ahve one set to do - and must do them this week as the next meeting is next week. I still hope they cancel, but I never know what this boss will do.

Work as I have known it has come to a halt indefinitely. I have been told that we will be home until the end of April at this point. I'm starting to get used to no make up, hair in a ponytail, jeans and t-shirt - and gaining back two hours a day, but I miss the social interaction. Yes, we have zoom where we can see each other, and yes, we can call each other on the phone, but it is not the same.

Never take a hug or a handshake for granted.

Hubby has become real paranoid about being around anyone. We went to the store the other day because I needed a couple things - and anytime anyone came to pass us in the aisle he was telling them "six feet! six feet!" He couldn't wait to get out of teh store - it was driving him crazy. I was mentioning it to a boss this morning, how paranoid he was. She said she was becoming paranoid because she is in daily contact with our chief medical officer, and he is saying it is not good - and won't be for awhile. It's going to get really scary really quick now. THAT was not what I was wanting to hear.

My daughter, granddaughter and fiance stopped by for a few moments yesterday with a gift. Of course I gave my granddaughter a hug - but hubby wasn't hugging anyone! He stood off in the corner. I opened the tissue paper and inside was a tiny pair of white booties. Granddaughter is having a baby in mid-November. It's exciting, but it's sad taht we can't really celebrate with hugs and excitement. It reminded me of when another precious granddaughter gave me her news with a copy of the ultrasound. LOL This granddaughter emailed me her first ultrasound today. They don't know what it is yet, of course, but they do have the names picked out. I can't go looking for material, but I ordered material today so that I can get the baby quilt ready. :-0 I'm behind on two though and really need to work on those first. I suggested we have a wedding in the near future... and the granddaughter is all for it, as is the 'grandson-in-law' to be - but we will have to see. With all the 'social distancing', this should prove interesting.

I set a challenge for myself to walk 5 miles every day - I did it Monday - Saturday last week and took yesterday off. I haven't gotten too far today so I need to kick it in to gear and get back on the treadmill. I'm just not 'into it' today but know I need to or I will be wearing sweatpants to work when we go back. The more I sit the more I spread.

I tripped over Sheeba the other day.... and I think I cracked my wrist again. I did it about 5 years ago when I fell and I just wore a brace for three months - so we went to the drugstore and I picked up another brace and have been wearing it. It hasn't bruised or become swollen, but when I move it a certain way, I get a sharp pain. Like it was then, so I'm thinking I just cracked it as before. So I'm wearing the brace which is annoying.

Well, got a notice to create a meeting invite so back to work. Hope you are taking care of yourself and being careful when you go out. Praying for a shield of protection over all my family, especially my daughter-in-law who must still go in to her work and be involved with patients.

Blessings!

Sent home to work

Yep - that is what has happened to me. Luckily I can as I have a laptop and monitors at home from the office. So what happened? With all the COVID 19 issues/fears - last Thursday I was called into my boss's office (with both of them there!) and told that I was "high risk" and effective that day I was to work from home until further notice. I didn't really take it very well, and tried to bargain with them i.e., how about if I work in the office Monday and Tuesdays and work from home Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. NO. Full time. At home. Until further notice. Minimal two weeks - could be eight weeks. UGH!

What's my problem? I don't enjoy working from home all the time. On occasion, yes, when I can focus on a specific project (and I do have a few of those I can work on), but to be TOLD I have to work from home indefinitely, I don't want to. Besides, I don't have as much freedom here at home as I do at work. At work I'm always up and busy donig something - someone interrupts and needs something. I need to do this, or that, or just go chat with my boss.

Here at home I have Sheeba. And hubby. sigh. Hubby stays pretty much in his room on his computer unless he is out here watching TV. He hates it more than I do cause I see what I know he doesn't do.... another oomment for another day. Don't get me started. BTW - finally have Sheeba scheduled for REAL trainign lessons starting in April - costing a lot more than I would ever want to pay - but I'm ready to give her away at this point. Yesterday she ripped open the cushion on the lawn chair in the back yard. I blame hubby - he throws her outside so he doesn't have to deal with her... and she gets bored. If these lessons don't do it - she WILL be finding another home - in spite of how much I love her. I can't deal with the destruction.

Our neighbor put up awnings for his cars on both sides of his house. I came home last week to find the pole bases in place. We couldn't park both of our cars in the driveway as usual. Now our neighbor has 7 feet of the driveway - we have 5 feet of the driveway. It didn't look right to me - and just told hubby it was time for us to move - and he agreed. So I contacted my daughter to start looking for another place for us. I'm just tired of hubby and the neighbor fighting all the time. Our neighbor thinks he knows it all - and he does know a lot (a lot more than us!) about how to keep the yard, etc. Hubby doesn't know these things adn resents being told by the neighbor - so hubby is rude and hateful. Spiteful at times, too. I'm just tired of it. The neighbor likes me and is kind and helpful.

Friday, since I was working from home - and in this case a good thing - I heard a noise in the driveway so went out. They were putting the poles up for the awning. I asked them to stop until I could talk with the neighbor - who came out of his house. I just asked him where his property line was - and the workers measured the 7 feet and found they were setting the poles up two feet on our property! Our neighbor immediately told them to move them to his 7 feet and no further. I mentioend that we were going to move. He said we were good neighbors and he didn't want us to move.

Saturday I was in a cooking mood and made some soup - and took over to our neighbor, for which he was grateful. Since the woman he had cared for has died, he inherited the house and has been fixing it up on the inside. I didn't go in, but he came out to get the soup and we talked. He offered to let me use his awning on our side (he even offered to do the entire back at his expense, but I said no)for my new car - but not hubbys. LOL go figure. I won't.

Today I'm at work - at home. Part of it is ok, cause I don't have a 1.5 hour or 2 hour drive home. Or have to leave the house early in the morning. I just feel tied to my "desk" here at home in case someone needs me. At work they know I'm there so eventually find me.

Oh well. I need to get busy - still have work to do. Maybe I can clean up this area while I'm at it. We need to start going through things if we are really going to mvoe. Part of me says yes - but the packrat in me says no way! I like the house, but I can't retire as long as we have it. I'm 70 years old, I would like to retire at some point.

Blessings!x

It's March- what happened to February??!

Life has been very busy! Work has me overwhelmed and on overload - and I didn't even think about writing in February. Perhaps I need to put it on my calendar each month so that I would remember.

It seems we have meetings and more meetings here at the office. One of my bosses always tells people - or sends me an email to "she will use her magic and find two hours to have this meeting" or "find a four-hour block of time" - like - not unless I move a half a dozen meetings to get it! UGH. I don't mind making the meetings - I just get frustrated at the volume!

And don't get me going on the meetings that I have to go to and take minutes - and that I do not like to do! It is very time-consuming! I go to a 2-3 hour meeting - and then it takes me 2-3 hours more to create the minutes by the time I clean up all the discussions. UGH. NOT my favorite thing to do!

Enough of work - but what has been going on in life.....

In January I fasted 21 days (gave up 2 meals a day) along with our church. You may think it silly, but I prayed that God would give me a newer car (I drove a 2004 van with 170,500+ miles) so that I could give my van to my daughter-in-law, cause I just felt I wanted to. God answered - but not in the way I thought / hoped He would. Let me elaborate.

* Daughter and Son-in-law loaned me their vehicle while they went to another state to see their new granddaughter. While I had their vehicle, I asked hubby to take my van in to have oil changed. He also asked them to look the van over. He returned with a $4700+ estimated bill. I never saw it so I don't know whta all was on it. Something about mounts all over the van and I don't know what else.

* Son-in-law took me shopping and after a couple weeks, I bought a 2017 Ford Escape. Nice car and I really like it. AND it will be my last car, as far as I'm concerned. God didn't 'give' it to me, I have to pay for it, but He did make it possible. :-) Thank you, God!

* Youngest son had an accident and their car totaled. So I thought, OK, maybe I should offer him my van and save them a car payment. He wanted it. Then he goes to buy TWO new vehicles. And wanted his sister to store the van for him while his son gets his license. Uh, no.

* Son-in-law got friend to work on van and make it safe to drive. Youngest son went to pay for it, intending to take the van (before the discussion of storing), and since the answer was 'no', he paid his sister the money he owed them for helping him with another vehicle he had purchased for anotehr son. Guess he had "forgotten" about that $. But he paid it.

* Van is pretty much done - still needs work done on it. Checked with son and daughter-in-law and they were interested. I left it up to them, trying to tell them what work needed to be done yet (that I knew) and what had been done - and since I ended up paying for the completed repairs, I asked for reimbursement.

* Son and daughter-in-law pick up the van and reimburse for the repairs. I still owe my daughter-in-law $20 - she overpaid me. I'm glad she got it. I think she will like it, for I did.

So God answered my prayer. I got a newer vehicle, my daughter-in-law got the van. That's what I wanted, and what I prayed for. And God made sure the van was safe before she got it. If hubby had not asked the mechanics to look it over and see what was wrong, I would have just given it to her - and she would have had to deal with all that - unknowingly. I certainly didn't know anything was wrong and I drove it every day! So now I pray that God will keep her safe in it and that it will last her as long as she wants it to.

God is good.

Blessings!

What's happening in January.....

What a great start to a new year! We have seen Christmas miracles happen after my last post. Let's start with that first! Christmas miracle..... my son-in-law would not allow his daughter's fiance/boyfriend to particpate in anything with family, wasn't allowed over there for nearly five years now. Christmas. Fiance/boyfriend is allowed to come over to their house Christmas mornng to open gifts with the family. He is allowed over at the house now. He is allowed to participate in family activities. It's been a lot of prayers and a lot of hurt over the past five years, but my son-in-law has changed. He really has. I've seen remarkable changes in him. And I believe in answered prayers. (we may have a wedding by the end of the year at this rate!)

Christmas was really good this year. I got so many things that I wanted and needed. A grandson even surprised me with a big gift card! Totally had not expected that. Love that kid (and not for that reason)! It really seemed like a peaceful, realxing day, even with all the cooking I had to do. Cooking. That was fun for several days! How did my scheudle go?

Saturday two of the grandsons came over to bake cookies and make Christmas mice. Monday, my daughter's two came over to do their baking and Christmas mice. Tuesday was Christmas eve. One granddaughter and her fiance came over for lunch (garbage) and Christmas gifts. Dinnertime waas my aughter, son-in-law and a grandson for dinner and gifts. Christmas day hubby and I take the early morning for ourselves. Around 10:30 I think it was, my middle child comes with most of his family. We opened gifts and here is where I finally got smart. I bought a whole ham and put in oven.
I cut some off for his family and we had sadwiches (I wonder if he noticed I made potato salad jsut for him) and other things. After they left, my oldest granddaughter, hubby, and my precious granddaughter came over and we did gifts and I cut more ham off for them, and added to the menu. Lastly, the youngest came with his family around 4:30PM and we did the final gift openingt. ThenI cut up the rest of the ham, added more things to the menu, and we ate again. I think I had to run the dishwasher three times that day! The following Saturday or Sunday - I had the youngest son's group over to do their baking and Christmas mice. They all seemed to enjoy it - as I do. It sure kept me busy! Christmas is still my favorite holiday!end

New Years Day came and went and it was really hard for me. Sometimes it is hard to let go of what I treasure as important. For years I have cooked a New Years Day lunch. The past several years I have made BBQ ribs, coleslaw, and black-eyed peas. Once my children started having 'fractured' relationships, the holiday began to fall by the wayside.
My daughter still invited us over and I still did the ribs, coleslaw and black-eyed pea and took over there. This year. It was different. Son-in-law's brother and family decided to visit just before Christmas.... and didn't leave until just before New Years Day. I waited for the call from my daughter....to confirm New Years Day plans. It didn't happen.
Instead I had to bring it up in one of our phone callson December 31. Yep, the day before. I was on my way to get the ribs so I had to know how many to get... and she opted out. Didn't want company, they were all tired from the holidays and their own company (understandable). Didn't want to 'cook', just wanted to watch tv and relax.

I didn't know what to do. Of course it was ok. I completely understood. But I was feeling isolated. Hubby was delighted we weren't going anywhere and no one was coming over (although I could have forced the issue, I didn't).
So I took the stance that I have been "released" from cooking on New Years Da. Each family can do their own thing.
went ahead and cooked ribs for us and our neighbor, and we had black-eyed peas and coleslaw as well. It was just a quiet, odd, feeling for the day. I needed the rest, no doubt, but I so much love being with the grandchildren, it was disappointing for me. I told my sister if I could figure out a way, we may fly to Florida next year for New Years Day and celebrate with them. Life does go on.

January 8th marked the arrival of our 3rd great-granddaughter. She doesn't live here so we can't hold her, but she is beautiful from the photos I've seen. Of course ALL my granddaughters and great-granddaughters are beautiful. Then a week later, our 4th great-granddaughter arrived here in town. We were able to be there and got to hold this little one a couple hours after she was born. They sure do things differently now then they did when I had my children! It was so fun holding that little one and listening to all the noises she was making. I believe she gets to go home today from the hospital. I'm hoping to go over this weekend and visit for a little bit. AND hold the little one! I am a bit concerned over the immaturity of both mom and dad, but for now they are living with my youngest son and he has been through this three times.

Work has been extremely busy since the holidays and that means I am too. Guess I need to get off this break of catching up on things and get back at it. Hope that your holidays were blessed... and that you were a ....

Blessing!

December.... and it's almost over...

Where has this year gone?? Today I am very tired. Part of it is because I have so much work to do at the office, and I come home with all the shopping/wrapping/sorting out - cooking/baking, etc. etc. to do - and pretty much by myself - with lots of help with grandchildren on the baking, for sure! That is the best part that I dearly love.

We've had so many issues with our beloved pet. So much $$ has been spent and yet, it was needed to. I tell myself she is our 'child' and I would not hold back on our child. But then, I wouldn't have them spayed either. LOL But that is over as well. We put her in the pet hotel over Thanksgiving as we would not be home most of the time. This Christmas we put her in the pet hotel Christmas eve and got her out yesterday. She seemed pretty normal yesterday, but today she is listless and I can't get her to go pee outside! And it's raining, so every time I think she should need to go - I have to stand out in the rain - only for her to just walk around and do nothing. I think Hubby has decided since I'm home - although I am also sick with a cold - it is MY job to take care of her because he was gone all morning, then came home for a long nap in his chair. He's gone to a doctor appointment now and Sheeba is laying on her bed. Seems to have an upset tummy. I hope it isn't something else going wrong. sigh.

Christmas was wonderful. Even though I had a lot to do, I think this is rated as one of our best Christmas. Everyone seemed happy with what they received from us. I really messed up on gifts - I put the wrong names on some packages - and others I jsut had to go 'oh well'. But everyone got something they needed/wanted or I surprised them. I like that part best. The men always love it when I find a special t-shirt that applies to them.

I received several things that I had either asked for or was wanting. I received my air fryer (now to figure out how to use it), gift cards, hair clips (which I had asked for and love!) sweaters, hoodie, soft socks, house shoes, jammies, so many things I needed/wanted and I was very well taken care of. Right now it is hoodie on and soft socks on feet. Feels good to be warm.

Hubby has a heart doctor appointment this afternoon. I don't think it is anything serious so am not worried. His regular EKG showed a blip and they are jsut checking it out. and he is just getting home so will see what he says. The doctor says his heart is excellent. But, they forgot to check the aorta in the ultrasound so have scheduled that for January. Other than that - he is fine.

Came down sick during the night yesterday... so worked from home on Thursday... and now it has evolved into a good cold. Runny nose, sneezing. But, I'm taking my olive leaf extract and black elderberry syrup nearly every couple hours so I think I'm getting over it pretty good. It may linger a day or two, but at lesat the worst is not happening.

I've managed to have the grandchildren over except one family to bake cookies this year - and it looks like I will have them over tomorrow (Saturday). It won't be too bad as they are all old enough to make things themselvse. To save time, I should go to the store in the mornign and buy already made sugar cookie dough so that they can just decorate and I can save a lot of mess. Having a couple over at a time isn't bad - but this time I'll have five of them. Yeah, I think I'll make a run to the store - or make up a big batch of sugar cookie dough myself and have it ready for them. Maybe I will do that. I love having them all over, but hubby is getting to be more and more of a grouch at times. ... enough said about that.

Need to hush... finish working.... have so many projects I want to get done.... but not enough time to do them. Oh well, sometime.

Blessings!
