I thought I might have come up with something to write in here this morning - but alas - nothing is forthcoming. We slept in a bit (5:30AM) and it felt good. Of course we have tried to stay up a bit later so that we can sleep in a bit later. Got to bed early, you generally wake up early, right? Some people have difficulty understanding that. When one wants to sleep later - most times you will sleep the same amount of time, but just different hours. And then, it will depend on how active you are during the day, right?
Hubby brought my coffee in and said that he slept well last night. I wonder if he recalls the 'ouch, ow, umph' noises he made at one point during the night. He had even taken something before he went to bed to ward off that pain. He has been complaining the past week at various times (no comment here) of an area on the back that is so sore and hurts. If I recall correctly, it is on the right side back, around the waist or just above the waist area. He sees his PCP on July 10th so I suggested if it was hurting that bad to call in and see if he could get in earlier. He didn't. He's complained of this area before; perhaps he will tell his doctor about it this time. I know, we all come up with 'is it kidney? is it liver?' and other thoughts. With having prostate cancer at one point and still taking shots - although 'they' said it hadn't spread... one can't help but wonder if they were wrong, when he complains greatly of the pain.
Today neither of us has anything on the calendar to get done. I'm going to stay in here for awhile, I think. I haven't started my reading yet; thought I would pause and get this done, otherwise, my thoughts would be constantly thinking someone might be looking for it and nothing is written. Who likes to read my ramblings anyway?
The youngest is in the midst of travels again - he, his wife, her son - went way up north to canyons and then in to Utah to look at others and then ended in Chinle last night. I am guessing he is coming home today; I don't know. He did let me know they made it to the hotel last night. I really do appreciate when the kids let me know they made it certain places on trips. It gives me peace of mind that they are ok.
Our big trip is coming up next week. Monday my day is going to be crazy. My training has been moved to 7AM so am not sure when I will be able to write in here - unless I do it first thing. Will see. Then I'm off work at 2PM cause I want to get ready to head up to Camp Verde for the grandson's graduation. Hubby will probably insist on driving. It's just a little over an hour from us so hopefully we won't have too much traffic going or returning. I need to get the $1 bills I give to each of the graduates. I'd buy a thermos for him, like I did the others, but if he is going in the Army in two weeks as he plans, he doesn't need it. I think I may have just started that the past 6-8 years or so - cause I remember giving one grandson just a box of $1 bills and didn't have a thermos. It's been awhile!
I finally went over to visit Ms. Diane last night. Sometimes I don't know how much longer she is going to last. Again, last night, she was saying she was wanting to just die. It isn't that she is so 'sick' - she isn't. At least I don't think so. She's 87 now, I think, and she has just given up on life. She uses a walker and because for years now she has just sat all day and not done anything, she is extremely weak and can't walk well, complains all the time about her back hurting, she has lost an enormous amount of weight because she doesn't want to eat - and she's a diabetic. One of her kids - if not all three - stop by almost daily to bring her something to eat (although there is food in her refrigerator her daughter makes her) and gets her to heat a burger or something they picked up with them. Now if I send food over - it cracks me up - she will gobble it down - and she raves about my 'garbage' all the time. Maybe I'll make her some this weekend and take over. I love it when someone enjoys the food I send over. Ms. Diane, and Ms. Vicky both will call me and tell me how 'wonderful' that food was. I love to cook and I love to give it away.
2 Peter 3:8-9 (NKJV): But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
One day is as a thousand years.... and a thousand years as one day. Who's counting the days? All our days are numbered, and we do not know when they will end. It will happen that someone will not wake up this morning. Someone will start a drive and never get to finish it. Anything can happen at any time to any one. No one is immune. And, when God decides it is your time for life to end, it is your time. God has the final say. Sometimes that can be a scary thought, when you aren't following Him. Most just shrug and say 'oh well' and laugh that they will be going to hell. It is a joke to them. Hell is real. Heaven is real. When you die, God judges you. But when you come before the Bema, the Judgement Seat of Jesus, you best be ready for when they open up that Book of Life - and pray that your name is written in there!
As I have paused for a moment my thoughts have gone to these pastors recently and over the years who have been 'found out'. The Bible says your secret sins will be made known. My heart is broken over their sins, because the people who called them friend, who called them pastor, who looked up to them as a spiritual leader - are shaken that such a person could have done, or is doing, these sins. And we are also reading about teachers who are doing these things with their students!! Where is righteousness? Where is sin being called out?
When I was growing up, I'm sure there could have been similar situations, but we were taught to respect our teachers. Never in our wildest imagination would we have even thought about some of the 'acts' and things some teachers are doing with students. Lives destroyed by someone who should know better. It doesn't matter whether it is a pastor or a teacher - or even who it is. Sometimes it is a parent, as I can attest. You destroy those you abuse. Fallen pastors have caused people to turn away from God and that breaks my heart. So God gives us more time to come back to Him. He doesn't want to lose us, to lose you.
God loves you so much that He will delay the end of time, the second coming of Christ, so that He can draw your heart to Him. The first commandment is to 'Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, all of your mind, and all of your strength.' And if you love the Lord, you will obey Him and do what He says. He gives us His rulebook to follow. How is that working out for you?
And speaking of God's rulebook, I need to jump off here, grab another cup of coffee and spend some time reading it this morning. Yep, thought I'd write in here first before I settled in to read so that I won't rush through it, and now I can relax and let His words sink in without thinking 'I need to do this'. :-) So now, I'm done. My rambling is over for today. Maybe.
Blessings!
