My favorite boss is on PTO today; my male boss is in Colorado. The other two I support haven't sent me anything lately so I'm not bothering them. The extra 8 doctors I am covering for my co-worker, only one has given me things to do ... then add in all the other people asking me question of 'does (so and so) have 30 minutes that I can meet....' and responding to those questions.... all in all, today may be a fairly good day. Especially since I am 'taking off' about 12:40PM to head over to the blood place. Yeah, they want my blood. I haven't donated since November and have ignored their calls and emails, but got caught the other day. So I scheduled. I can still 'reschedule', but it's easier to just go in and let them have my blood - if I pass the iron test. Which means I need to eat a good breakfast this morning. I think it has to be 12.5 on the iron scale and time before last it was 12.4 and they sent me home. Got it back up the last time to 12.7 so will see what it will be today.
Hubby just left for his Bible study with his friends. He had to stand here and tell me how he was going to work his morning. Last night he was going to the Bible study, then to the gym for a light workout, then to the doctor to freeze off some spots, then... I forget where. Now he has changed it to Bible study, home, doctor, then (maybe) light workout. I just told him whatever he decides is fine. :-)
My legs are telling me today (day 2) that I worked them out the other day. Last night Morgan focused on my (non) shoulders. I have little shoulders.... so she is having me work on building them up. I did more exercises with her last night than I used to do with Trayden - isn't that interesting. He preferred the machines; and she only had me use one machine - the shoulder press - and that was after several other exercises with bar bells and weights. I am sure tomorrow I will know exactly what part of my shoulders she focused on! I laughingly told her the other day that I'll give her 3 months (until my 75th birthday!) to whip this body in to shape. I worked out with Trayden a year and gained a lot of muscle, but no body changes. I think I will see these changes with Morgan.
Still working on the trainings I have to do for work. I knocked off one yesterday and part of another. Hopefully I won't have a lot of work today and can knock out the rest. Hate seeing my name on the list of those who haven't completed all the tasks. Both of my bosses were off the list (when did THEY find time to get them done??) I think there was a total of about 22 to start with and I'm down to 6 - about 3 hours worth - so will see. Want to get them done!
I Peter 3:3-4 (NKJV): Do not let your adornment be merely outward - arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel - rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
I am still enjoying fresh-brewed life by Nicole Johnson. I just read a small section each morning and I'm glad I'm not trying to sit down and read the entire book. There is too much value in the little sections I read that I want to hang on to and ponder, rather than just keep reading. I love how today's chapter is talking about beauty and I had to chuckle when I read this first paragraph....
"The terror creeps up my spine before I even get out of bed. I know what lies ahead today. I stay completely still and let the safety of the covers envelop me. Maybe if I ignore it, it will go away. The hara work that will fill my day already drains every ounce of energy in my body. The dread of all the walking, the endless barrage of searching, the tears. I have to buy a swimsuit today."
Oh my goodness, I have so been there! The last time I went in person to Kohls to buy a swimsuit several years ago, I could swear that they have magnified their mirrors in the dressing rooms!! Are they really wanting us to see every bubble and crevice on our body? I was so depressed when I walked out of that dressing room, I swore I would never buy another swimsuit again. Then I just ordered from Penneys online and took my chances on if they fit (a little too big, thank goodness, but I was afraid to order the size I imagined I was). Now I know I'm not thin, and yet, I am not fat. I am 'fluffy'. Ok, so I'm more 'chunky'. But I'm me. And I hope others see past the fluffy and chunky to see the real me. So I persist in going to the gym and stretching myself to get these bubbles back into the body and not bulging out of it. I don't need a fat free perfect body. I just would like to fit into my pre-covid clothes comfortably. Is that so bad? That is many women's trauma.
My sister and I always laugh that we are fighting against the 'Snipes look' as we always called my mother's siblings. They all had the large boobs, big bellies, and big butts. Then she jokes, she got the boobs, and I got the belly and the butt. Sigh. I'm working on it. If I didn't have to sit behind a desk all day long all of my life, I could reduce that big butt and belly. Ok - it's an excuse. I'm working on it, ok?
Our neighbors across the street put their duplex up for sale yesterday. I hadn't talked to 'her' since January 2023 and that was via text. I know, shame on me. But her husband has PTSD and gets out of control sometimes. His PTSD isn't from war, but from being hit in the head with a steel beam that fell on a Navy ship that he was serving on. It hit him so hard it crushed his head, knocking the majority of his teeth into his gums, if not knocking them totally out. He has brain damage and trauma from that. And the doctors have thrown up their hands for they don't how to help him - and sometimes he can lose control of his behavior (like when he came over and yelled at hubby about the HOA one day). Anyway, I sent her a text last night and apologized for not being a good friend and keeping in touch at least by text, and she immediately called me. Her hubby had left the house for a few minutes so she could talk. (now that's scary!) She shared some things that were going on and asked for prayer. They want to buy a house still in this 'city' and not be in the HOA. I totally agreed with her! I want out of here too - I want a small house with a small yard that I can do whatever I want to with it! MY hubby refuses to move, after all, he's president of the HOA for the 3rd year. It helps his ego, I think, to feel valued (my opinion). Plus, they take care of the yard (as crappy as it is, I could do a better job and I know nothing about yards! Hubby doesn't do manual labor so he likes someone else doing it. As long as it isn't him. Anyway - she asked for prayer in her life with her hubby. She wants us to keep in touch as much as we can and will let me know where they move. Anyway..... pray for Sharon....
And with that ... I need to get off here and get on the computer for work. It's Friday - YAY! At least I will be taking most of the afternoon off for a 'good thing'. :-)
Blessings!
